Why I am quiting Dual Universe

Hello all Community Members. I am only sending this message to share my story and hopefully encourage you all to stand up for what you believe in any situation. As much as I love the project of Dual Universe, I find it sad to see such a hate-filled community towards people who do not conform.

I first heard about Dual Universe from my friend sakej99. This game of course looked cool, but I was skeptical. Sakej99 has a different story that he did not want to share with me until later on...

He first joined the organization Diverse Unified Accord, which was one of the first organizations created. Sake wanted to grow their community and was tempted to advertise and recruit for them. Later on they banned him and he joined The Solar Empire. This is when I was told to join. I decided to join in and learn more about the game. I wanted to become a pilot because that sounded fun, but I realized that I am more of a creative person. I am more of the type of person who wants to create and build something unique. I came up with Solar Secure. This is when it all got interesting...

Solar Secure was mainly created to serve as the protection forces for The Solar Empire. Sake joined in and posted on the topic but accidentally posted twice. Then, there was other criticism on that thread before any of the recruitment messages were sent. We decided to start a campaign to gather a wider player base on the forums. Of course this was not a good choice to make... However, when you look into the real world it actually is very common and the Corporations that do so are not criticized because of it. Still, I did understand it was not the best option and could be considered spamming.

This whole incident damaged the reputation of Solar Secure so much that The Solar Empire decided that they did not want us associated with them. We had to rename to Dual Secure. The problem I found was that once the community found something to sniff at they continued to do so and acted like they were going to give second chances, but ended up not doing so. It caused our reputation to stay the way it was. We wanted to create a nation. I created The Void Republic and I found a lot of rude and hateful comments on the thread. I wonder if those comments would be there if there was no spam issue? I did listen to the thoughts and suggestions, however I DID NOT agree with everything people said. Which in return triggered people mainly because they thought I was "thick headed".

Issues on discord started to ruin the reputation of TVR more than before because of my disagreements and arguments started to erupt. That is when I decided there is no point in trying to be diplomatic anymore. I decided to take a different path for The Void Republic. A path that will be remembered as cruel to others, but was ultimately needed because there was and is no other organization to hate on. TVR was the only entertainment in the community because it was something to criticize and hold a grudge against. I will admit I did many things wrong after that. However, that is not the point. The point is that me disagreeing and responding the way I did caused more trouble than ever before. Therefore, we decided to follow FrogSwarm's "Bad Guy" path because it was the best option for US. (Our perspective). The hate continued and always did...

As time went on we found common enemies because of their actions. Oh and if some of you do not know @Astrophil took the time to ban everyone in my discord with his alt Theo13. However, this information took a long time to investigate and no one ever actually looked at it from OUR side. Instead they though Cinderfall was just a perfect bunch of people that apparently do not troll nor cause issues. That turned out to be false. One of the spies attacking TVR @TheKoolBanana finally admitted the truth about Astrophil and what he/she did to TVR's discord server. The funny thing is that no one ever noticed it or cared.

We found our common enemy as Cinderfall Syndicate and @TheSlaxx and I agreed to form one empire to fight against their efforts. Slaxx and I worked hard on internal progress. Including livestreams (in TVR too), art, and a lot a common organization completes. Then, a Cinderfall issue emerged. A guy named GiftHorse messaged me on discord saying he can give me legate in Cinderfall. I was okay with that and took it. I did not do anything wrong and it seems that Novaquark and Cinderfall claims that Unity League was the ones who infiltrated Cinderfall and did this. That never happened and had nothing to do with us... It was a Internal Cinderfall issue with Astrophil or some other legate giving another (untrusted) legate permission.

Then... Not much later Novaquark simply deletes Unity League because it is "Unhealthy to the community". Also, because I apparently have a bunch of ghost accounts and Slaxx had some personal message issue. We did get a warning, but not a DIRECT warning stating what could happen. And we only got one warning, but NQ claims that we had several. Not to mention, instead of kicking the suspected alts they delete the organization to save time so they can go back to working on the game.

It was things like this that caused Novaquark to lose my trust in terms of organizations. Many organizations use alternate accounts to boost their member count... Polestria, BOO, and many others. The most important part is the percentage of real and fake members. Ours is extremely low on fake members, and there is no way novaquark can actually know who is a real member or not besides IP address tracing. However, that still does not confirm anything because that just shows what computer created the accounts. Other forms of investigating would interfere with the privacy of the community members.

After all of this I decided that my work meant nothing. It was simply taken away. My progress in building my organizations was completely taken away.

And they can not show proof of their findings. They will not show proof of the other information.

Clearly, the members who notice this message can take it however they would like. You can show positive feedback or make it so NQ has to lock the forum. I have been through this drama too many times before. And I am no longer interested in being a part of this community because of that. I try my best, but for many it is not enough. But I know this. A lot has happened in the pre-alpha, and I am glad I got to entertain some of you...

Afterall it is a game, but I wish the best for all of you. I do not hold any grudges and maybe I will come back some day...

P.S the story did not include everything; however, it included the most important information

Sincerely, mmtheboss/Ascend/Ardour/Darius Sanguna(its me you just don't believe it)

Could we just agree to leave this topic alone? He made his statement, that's enough.

We really don't need every other person jumping in here to comment and starting yet another toxic fight on the forums.

It's not healthy looking to new people coming into the game.

There are plenty of other places to discuss this whole fiasco, creating more drama here isn't going to reflect well on anyone.

Where do I even start?...

As an outsider looking in since I wasn't in any high circles for the majority of this and was aloof to 99% of this only to be caught up later, there were a lot of choices that could have should have been made better. Posting pictures in the forums, acting out, picking fights you knew you wouldn't be able to win come game time. I'll admit that I'm all for a rebel, groups like goon/frogswarm and BOO, they're the alternate side that makes the game truly interesting.

The path that you guys took, however, was nothing short of a meltdown. Your cuban missile crisis of sorts made a lot of people look down on you and the condemnation you received as nothing more than a couple of leaders kicking and screaming only tightened the noose which eventually led to your grand execution by the high priest.

Hopefully, other orgs and their leaders and followers can learn something from all this.

Don't be a dirtbag today, you'll only be a poop stain tomorrow.

Good luck with whatever you do MM. I hope that one day you will return to DU. I may not have agreed with your actions but that doesn't mean you don't have the right to play the game. Hopefully one day ill see an org led by you.

Too bad. God's hand is already at work (see my TOPIC "NQ should be an organization in DU!"). Because I'm curious about the game.

Schade. Gotteshand ist schon am arbeiten (siehe mein TOPIC "NQ should be an organization in DU!"). Da bin ich mal auf das Spiel gespannt.

Instead of leaving the topic alone and just stating my goodbye, I'd like to have a few words in this as well.

Back when I joined the community, I was one of the people being contacted by Sakej99. He told me about Dual Secure when I told him about my plans for the game, leading a corporation and building ships better than the standard. At the time, Dual Secure and TVR were already the enemy of the whole community, which I had yet to fully realize. Instead of declining all offers, I replied that if he was interested, I could sho him my ideas. And Sakej actually did show genuine interest. He motivated me to start working on the models I have been thinking of for a longer time ever since seeing ODYs design ideas on the community page.

And after showing him my first projects, which honestly weren't good, he encouraged me to go on and make more, and with time I got better and more creative with my models. I posted these designs I actually made for Dual Secure on the community portal and gained a whole lot of helpful feedback. These designs are the reasons Objective Driveyards got interested in me, and today I'm a director in a beautiful organization in which I found a lot of friends, response and fulfillment. It goes even further, because one of the designs made its way to an industrial business near my hometown that actualy offered me a job at some point (which I accepted).

Through the whole story of TVR and MM, my standing in this community might be a lot different, who knows.
But I know I'm not the only one affected by their actions.

In fact, while I do support NQ's decision in every way and wish they keep up that kind of work in the future, it still saddens me how it had to come that the community lost an integral part of it - and even more that nobody realizes the actual loss yet, but instead celebrates it.
The actions of TVR surely weren't comofortable for most and I, too, had my fair share of personal experience with MM. I also knew about about their background for the longest time by now, yet I stll appreciated having a common "antagonist" in the community. Finding somebody willing to fill that spot is not that just a nice occurence, it's rare to find an actual constellation like this. I was also glad when the Unity League emerged, because that gave opportunity to have a serious and common threat later in the game. With the deletion of UL, we're back to a grid of many smaller and bigger orgs in what can look like a battle royale at times.

I certainly couldn't say this in the past, but this time, I have to agree with MM. He did get to entertain us in one way or another.
And while I know for a fact that not everything is completely true the way he states it, I appreciate him showing a more human side for once. Although he's still a douche.

I don't wish for anybody to lose their progress after they put that much time and effort in it. If you come back to DU, know that there are people who will appreciate it.
Until then and good luck,

Croomar

I read half of what he wrote, then thought "what a drama queen, the game hasn't even come out yet!". It's sad that you are angered easily by a community that isn't even active yet, but if you feel like the community is going to become bad just wait and see what happens rather than storming off. Usually the people that are a pain in the butt stick around and they get bored so they annoy people on the forums because they have nothing else to do.

I would say, ignore the community until the game comes out then get involved because people are on edge right now. Also a lot of other people like pestering people to create more drama (like what you're doing with this post) and it just causes more problems. It's like a chain reaction:

1 person annoys another person - that person then complains on the forums - people then poke fun of that person - someone complains how bad the community is for poking fun of that person and so on and so on

Just stop the drama and talk about the damn game!

You got a lot of hate by the community. Part of it was just the normal "Oh, someone gets beaten up, let's punch him too" internet attitude, but a big chunk of it was reasonable. You did a lot of things wrong, got really angry really fast, weren't able to accept a defeat and ignore any advice. I will not miss you, you will not miss me. But it's always sad to see someone leave the community.

Cool thing about DU is you can just play with a few buds, who needs an organization?

The game is going to be fun, whether you play with a small group or some power play organization.  Not sure why you'd have to leave, just because you didn't make it big.  Hope you come back when things cool down/release I guess.

The fewer the players, the less the drama usually ^^

Hey MM, I know we have not been on the most friendliest of terms, and that is partly due to the mistakes we both made, and my decision to break all contact with you. I feel that I was far too negative towards your organisation, and I'm sorry for not properly giving you a second chance. I wish you the best of luck, and hope that you will eventually come back, having learnt from what went wrong with TVR, and create a better and more friendly organisation. As a person, I feel you made mistakes, but that does not mean you should be banned or shunned.

If I can give you any advice, it would be to always be friendly and open to other organisations, regardless of your own personal feelings towards the people in the organisation. Hopefully, other people will like  me, forgive you for what happened, and wish for you to come back. TVR did show promise, and should you come back, I look forward to seeing you in game.

The game hasn't even started yet! What am I reading here? Well if you too week to play politics in any MMO title play Overwatch or Rocket Ligue or something... it's clearly not a game or community fault. It's in any MMO game. Get your shit together, grow up and have a fun.

This is not only to @ardour but everyone else who thinks he is building something the best in DU.

Nobody is forcing you to become supreme leader of the best org ever created and making the best ships that ... well, how do you know if they will even sell ;).

Member of your own org told you so?

It's the market (that is far away from functional in game) that will tell you if you are good at something or not.

Same is the people who will decide to be with or without org you creating. There is no need for drama especially not at this stage.

Because at this stage 'playing' game is simply speculating, hoping and promising to others you don't even know you are able to deliver. Yes, its politicking, telling people pure lies ;)

How do you know what is your position in game will be? Will you even have enough resources to build your own shelter but you trying to get hundreds into your org? They will run like headless chickens, and I expect this drama here is just a begging of what's coming when people realise how useless those promises are ;)

And please, this is not a hate speech from me, I am far away from those big boys club, not even getting involved at this point. It is just a reality check you, and we all should be doing.

Alpha will not answer all our questions to all that either.

Couldn't agree more. When the game launches and people have to deliver on all the lofty promises they are going to realize that it's a lot harder to run an org than getting people to join.

You should be skeptical of anyone who tries to sell you anything more than "we'll see"
