I can agree with some of your points. To some others I have a different opinion. But there is one thing I cannot leave uncommented:

NQ does owe the early players/backers something. Did you check the price that they payed? We're talking about several hundred Euros. Wtf a skin... U mad bro?

Even if they are few compared to the number of players that NQ hopes to achieve... Nobody of them will speak positively about the game ever again.

Gamers that are dedicated enough to spend thousands of hours in an unknown game during alpha and beta - even spending hundreds of Euros for it - are usually well connected with their other gamer friends to share their experiences with. Some of the players even have youtube and twitch channels.
(I'm just a gaming grandpa, but even I'm part of a smal gaming-community that I test this game for and report my achievements and experiences to, hoping they follow me after release.)

You're right, in the grand scheme of things, the few dozen or few hundred people don't count at all. But they can and will give NQ a bad name if they aren't now treated with the respect they deserve as customers of NQ. We're not first graders who get the wrong change from the baker for their sandwiches!

The people who are unhappy with the way this thing is being handled are not crybabies. They have good and hard to refute arguments why you shouldn't invest money and time into this game. They can therefore give DU an even harder start than the game will have anyway, since subscription-based games aren't exactly popular these days anyway.

Btw, there are a lot of players who still don't know anything about this and about a 40-page discussion thread. (I know it, because they buy soon to be useless things like schematics from me.) They will be caught unprepared and they will most likely not be happy either.

So imho. NQ just doesn't want a PR disaster. And that's the only thing that gives NQ a headache.

    Disclaimer @NQ:
This is not to be taken as a threat. It's just my point of view with over 30 years of gaming experience under my belt.

Given the amount of client-side stuff in this game, any attempt at forcing unique names is going to be more or less impossible.

As for making construct-id visible in the default auto config windows... well, I do recall NQ saying something along the lines of "custom scripts shouldn't result in major pvp advantage", and making that ID visible in default would seemingly solve the issue...

Then again, with NQ's record I suppose it would be more productive to just find a free script with the appropriate features and link people to it...

Haunty reacted to Frostydog1793 in What would you guys think of an ocean update?
By this I mean actual water physics, water core units to make floating constructs easier to build, ships being able to actually float and sail around on the water, or dive and traverse around like a submarine, swimming, maybe even fish/coral, etc. As an aquatic player myself I would love a water based update, and it would give Jago, y’know, a reason to exist.

You enabled auto mode for the Harvest tool, but not the Repair tool? That would seem like an easy quality-of-life thing to do, and would be much appreciated.

They should be able to best decide if they have long term, big picture expectations and goals for the game. You can't make changes just to keep your beta testers playing. The small group of people who play have almost no power to alter the future of this game's success or failure. NQ needs to ask themselves, how many players do we want actively playing this game? As far as the economy goes, if we want a million active players, which form of mining or industry can the market support that allows for competition through supply and demand and not simply material over saturation?

I feel like some of the long term implications of changes aren't being fully discussed or thought through. This game will die without specialization and a bigger risk vs reward system in my opinion. The everyone can do everything as long as they are around long enough model is lazy. Not everyone deserves a trophy no matter what activity they do in the game.

Go ahead and wipe everything but blueprints, fix past mistakes and make release as best as can be. Based on the points made that sounds like the best option. As long as blueprints are revamped to make it easer to redeploy static constructs it should be fine.
I don't care if skill points are reset to 0, keeping all skill points might be too advantageous, but keeping a percentage of them or capping them might be a good compromise.
If a few people leave because they lost their alpha/beta progress then so be it, best to appeal to new players.

Haunty reacted to Mncdk1 in Blueprints still not useable to build larger structures
Seeing honeycomb when placing a blueprint is nice, but there's still no fine control over the placement.
If you are trying to place a static, such that what you're placing will seamlessly integrate into a larger structure, it's still impossible to do that with blueprints. If you just turn a few pixels to the side, the alignment will be off. The borders also constantly ends up being a fraction of a voxel either inside or outside the voxels of nearby cores.
Edit: Not to mention that blueprints seem to move 2 voxels when you use the arrow keys. Wtf.

Blueprints need to be able to snap to the grid of an existing structure, just like static cores do. When expanding a structure with static cores, it's easy to position a core on the existing structure by just moving the mouse over it, and then keyboard-move the core into place, because it snaps to the existing grid.

Make blueprints able to snap to existing grids that same way.

I like the changes. I agree with others. The warp effect could benefit from being toned down. One other major visual thing that I would love to see tweaked is toning down the shield visuals. Like having it only highly opaque when you are taking fire / in combat. It makes the game look really bad when you have a bunch of parked ships with giant glowing bubbles. The general look is okay just it is so evenly opaque and very bright. So much so that you can't even see how cool the ship designs are.

I feel like most of NQ's art decisions would benefit from a pass that just reduces the contrast, brightness and opacity of many effects by about 50%. Good effects like sound design, if you do your job well players do not notice your work. It just feels right as a whole. Less is more IMO.

Seems like a wipe would be acceptable by most as long as blueprints and talent points are kept. Some may leave, but others announced a return after a wipe. It's a last chance for NQ to get things right, or at least better. No more wipes after that.

Nobody is *forced* to do this.  There are plenty of alternatives including AFK mission running.  Agreed it's bad design, but the OP asked for a version which takes less time and gives a smaller reward.  There are other types of mission which take less time and give smaller rewards.

Haunty reacted to J-Rod in Tool for rapid disassembling constructs
    Hello NQ,

The recent update has left many of us with the need to disassemble large numbers of constructs. I am sure many of you are with me when I say "Can we please have a quick disassembling tool for constructs?"

Many of us have hundreds of cores to disassemble, voxel and elements. If there were larger selection sizes with the voxel tools this would be more tolerable but as it stands we will spend great amounts of time disassembling.

It does not makes sense to me that I can instantly place a BP of something but if placed wrong or I have a need to redeploy I have to spend much time deleting and redeploying. There needs to be a way to remove a construct quicker than manually deleting all the voxel and elements.

Inactive construct requisitioning should work almost anywhere to some extent, if they are truly abandoned by an unsubbed account. There are a lot of abandoned dynamic cores in space and on planets that have been around for a year or more.

Im sorry but I think you started this game, wanted to get rich in 1 day and when that didnt happen you decided to abandon the game. A thing a read a lot here on the forums, written by new players who barely played a month. Maybe these people should search for more information about the product they are buying instead of just jumping in and afterwards complain about the game.
Cant say im gonna miss these new players who come into a game and when they are not top of the list within a week, they quit.

I have been a solo player for 16 months, been into the pvp zone only once and I warped. Got my sanct tile and a space base.
Easy playing as a solo player, but some people are not satisfied unless they rank among the highest.

AND WHY DO PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT TAXES DO NOT JUST BUILD A SPACESTATION THAT IS TAX-FREE????
I can go for weeks on my station, just building stuff. Only fly off to get some market items or do missions to make some money. It wont get you rich but it does give you fun gametime instead of doing the chores for taxpayement.

This has been suggested and discussed many times by both the community and NQ, and the response from NQ has always been 'Most ppl play over the weekend, so it makes most sense to have asteroids spawn on Saturday. There is no intention to have asteroids spawn spread over the week.'

So much for listening to player feedback.....
