i actually start to believe they know we are not capable to reach Tier 4 and 5 progress and they gave us the schematics via market error. There will be wipes but you get all your stuff back. Game is set as: Released and players are joining knowing this status. They know know there will be a fiasco and players will want their subscription money back. Its not that hard to understand the consequences of wiping 1 year form now an active world vs not wiping it. I mean, we are 1 year away from end of beta. Isnt that enough time to achieve greatness ? You have T1-T3 stuff in market. In 3 months you can get anything you want.

And good luck wiping Alioth and those beautiful cities created during years of Alpha ?

GarbageKnight with his 46G brakes would die every time he touched them, people can only withstand 5g for a few minutes or 3g for around 1 hour.
Or you could tap them for a fraction of a second and with would only be like a 100mph hour car accident

Aaron, please tell me you were not trying mining on Sanctuary? And yes, that is what I was saying mate, you can find another profession that is more interesting if you don't want to mine grind your way to the first few million. If you are not getting your daily quanta then that needs to be fixed. I'm not rich in the game by any means but I would happily front you the money to build a decent hauler. I'll even build one for, tokenize it and you can pay it back after 30 mins of mining on Alioth.

Deintus, Warp engines are a few steps further, but hauling a few hundred tonnes with ease? Sure. Let's see here:

I have priced up a space capable hauler with 128,000L capacity. I have not built this exact model but I'm pretty sure it will have acceptable performance. Based on best current market prices

    Dynamic core S - 6000
    Command seat controller - 5,000
    Atmos fuel tank S x 4 - 10,000
    Space fuel tank S x 2 - 6,000
    Adjustor S x 10 - 2,000
    Space engine S x 4 - 12,000
    Space engine M x 2 - 26,000
    Atmos Engine M x 2 - 30,000
    Atmos Engine L x 2 - 160,000
    Wing M x 6 - 90,000
    Stabalizer S x 2 - 6,000
    Space Brakes M x 3  - <10,000
    Atmos Airbrake M x 5 - 10,000
    Hover Engine M x 5 - 10,000
    Hover Engine L x 4 - 52,000
    Container M x 2 - 80,000
    Container hub - 7,000
    Tier 1 honeycomb 40 cubic meters - 15,000

    total cost -  600,000 quanta

Add in a negligible overhead for a full fuel load. Nitron you can make with surface rocks in your space pants.

Even without doing anything at all other than claiming your log in bonus that is only 4 days 'work'. I think the spec for this build is generous for what it needs.

Let's imagine that this hauler can only carry half the container capacity before crashing is too much of a risk:

64,000L of T1 ore with silly old bots in action again now is an instant income of ~ 1,600,000
You don't even have to wait for someone to buy it...
Mining any random unclaimed hex on Alioth will fill 64,000L within 1 hour or you are doing something wrong.

1.6mil can build you a new hauler with more than double the budget of the first one.

Like GraXXor said. No one has any excuse for being poor in the game right now.

I know, I've been going on and on about making a race track for a while now. Well, the two tracks are all laid down now and ready for racing, time trials, illegal gambling and so forth. I can't even begin to describe the hours or explain why I would willingly do this to myself, but I think this is the kind of community that understands insane building projects so I don't fear too much judgement. Think I might quit DU now for a while. To the handful of people who kindly donated a bit of material here and there your names have been cemented into the foundations of the course at various points.

-2 separate and complete race tracks covering 10 hexes on Alioth

-The scale of the tracks allows for high speed racing. I'm really excited for to see what kind of racers people dream up.

-A restricted class cup and an unlimited builders cup could be something for the future.

-Head to Head racing for quanta

-There are pit garages for sale on site for race teams.

-Land plots available for opening shops and markets for those with a plan, contact me.

As for the racing and physics, I think what is possible with a bit of practice is really pretty cool. Like a 2021 version of that old classic nintendo game F-Zero if anyone is as old as me.

    Alioth sand and rock : >2mil L
    Madis soil: 200,000 L
    Symeon soil: 190,000 L
    L and M cores: more than 135
Time for construction: 3 months more or less

Exactly, i was not doing to it for the quanta , i could have and been making more thru other means, i took it as a challenge to build ,most expensive schematic wise,  warp beacon production line  as a solo player, to achieve something similar to what you have done.

Im not a builder, so could not build an amazing racing track, or good looking ship(s), went for something im good at, which is being merchant/crafter.

To get me back to playing rollback would be sufficient, not the free quanta or schematics as compensation. What is the point having those , when everyone else has them too, in a game , where we are encouraged to specialize.

    LoL point taken.

Either way would mean that it failed, and in the end would we know the why's without inside information? Hell, I myself would like to see DU succeed as well. But have to cut myself off there because my faith that it will is pretty low atm.

But hey, the forums here are still active enough it will take time to know if DU actually failed or not. (No, that's not my ONLY gauge) I think one way, but have been wrong before.

And this is just 1 guy, at this point it make much more sense to have prices cut down by 100 times then reverting them back to normal, at least we would have balance AND we could all have a laugh over the idiot who now has 112 worthless schematics.

Well that's a bit of a mistake, lol. The people who have profited don't hurt my game at all however. There is no PvP or territory warfare to worry about people gaining advantage. I don't really see the problem. Although rolling back the last 24 hours of server history would be annoying right now, I've done a lot of good work.

If there is one thing that makes a game boring then it is having too much of everything and nothing to do. I hope some of the people who got rich off this still find a way to enjoy the game.

I'm completely against rolling back, as people who actually played honestly would be losing their stuff, now it shouldn't be hard to track down people who bought like thousands of similar Schematics and/or resold them, in that case they deserve at least a warning and maybe to be charged the difference in Quanta from their own pockets

Not sure how useful this will be but there are two options for sharing stuff.

1: if you set element rights on the core or another element, this one seems a bit limited. For example if you set the rights to board construct on the pilot seat element the person wont be able to fly as they dont have rights to use the fuel tank, etc.

2: if you right click on honeycomb > constuct > advanced > set construct rights this then sets the rights for everything in the construct at once, I get more luck with this way.

probably you already know this, but just in case

Burble reacted to Xennial in (Discussion) What do you feel is holding DU back?
I think what is holding back DU is the vocal minority perception of what a game experience 'should' be. You can never look at a thread in this forum without at least one response or post containing:

1: DU is dying because XYZ the devs need to save this sinking ship!
2: NQ has no idea what game they are making , here is wall of text describing how DU's game vision was failed form the start and this is mine to replace it.
3: DU was meant to be a non progression , open sandbox with zero purpose OR DU was meant to be PvP warzone and those 'carebears' are destroying it
4: NQ needs to turn DU into the same formula as "insert my favorite MMO example / game loop" to appeal to a wider audience.

None of these are true naturally.

If all someone does is view gameplay in DU as a 'job' then maybe DU just is not for them. Maybe at some point in the future the game loops will have filled out enough for players that feel that way today to not feel that way in a year or two. Not every game is for everyone. The answer is never to destroy the direction of the game to appease to vocal minority who want the game to cater to their personal play style. The only question for a game designer should be are there enough players interested in what we are making to keep the game alive over the long haul.

Hyperbolic arguments about appeal to the 'masses' are useless. DU will never appeal to the masses , it only needs to appeal to enough people to keep it alive and hopefully growing at a slow and steady pace.
