Distinct Mint got a reaction from Novean-61657 in NEW SCHEMATICS - Discussion Thread
This update is essentially a cap on "global" industry (there is a limit to the number of schematics produceable by the population), and a soft cap on individual industry (a limit to the number of schematic training slots, and cash/willpower in buying in extra schematics).

    Some good points:
Removing schematics for many items and some limited (but not all) elements will reduce some of the tedium. Will allow NQ to balance the economy in different ways in contrast to the current just schematic prices. (Inert comment about autominers.) Some bad points (i.e. needs a QoL pass):
Tedium of eternally loading batches of schematics into the machines (and finding the machines). Tedium of eternally needing to purchase/deliver schematics from markets (self-producing won't be enough, unless you heavily alt-up). A few times counts as gameplay, eternally makes it another daily chore eventually. Not fun on top of calibrations.
@Gottchar's suggestion in Discord is that schematics could be auto-distributed to the relevant industry unit in a factory from a central location. This could be the unit that produces an individual's schematics. This would reduce the distribution tedium, as well enable group play when players notice "oh we are low on schematic X" and then proceeds to resolve this.

So why can't we trade mining unit calibrations as consumable items? A schematic training queue is otherwise the same mechanic as generating mining charges (except that it is auto-queued for you).

I'm personally not a fan of this.  Industry may be annoying or time consuming or tedious in some aspects but the most important thing that industry and factories and building elements brings is purpose.  Goals to achieve as one expands and grows as a player.  For those of us that have big factories, a lot of us do because it provides literally years of gameplay.  I've been playing for 1.5 years now and every element I add to my factory is a personal accomplishment.  It's the culmination of selling blueprints that I've created, or mining or salvaging or missioning.  It's the year and a half of building something that's very intricate and delicate and complex and yes, tedious.

I'm also concerned about the push towards Coop or more than likely requiring alts making industry pay to play.

I'm concerned about how this will limit the market capabilities for the parts.  While DU is in beta, I wouldn't expect there to be parts only manufacturing, but it's not unreasonable to expect there to be a market for these items with a larger player base.

I'm mostly concerned about the elimination of Goals to achieve in DU.

Distinct Mint reacted to NQ-Sirg in Intel 12th Gen & Dual Universe
Dual universe uses AVX instructions available on all major CPUs since 2011. We don't require AVX2 nor AVX512 because they are not as common.
This is particularly relevant for procedural generation and even on modern machines, it is a valuable optimization which saves the CPU for other things.
We don't do this procedural generation on GPU mostly for numerical determinism. We need the client and the server to generate exactly the same thing. This is typically not possible with GPU computations.

Intel 12th gen CPUs come with two kind of cores:
High performance cores are fast and can handle complex instruction sets like AVX
Low performance cores are slower and only support a limited instruction set

The downside for high performance cores is that they take more space on the chip and they consume more power.
For situations when computing power is not relevant (like IO operations), it makes sense to execute tasks on low performance cores. It also makes sense to have heterogeneous capabilities on your CPU as in the end it translates to a more capable chip using less power (your slow IO operations don’t take precious time from your high performance cores).

Note that this kind of architecture is not exactly new and smartphones have been using this approach for years. Now the problem is, that this is kind of new technology for regular personal computers and the support is not completely there yet. Ideally your OS would automatically detect that a specific program needs high performance cores (it does it to a certain extent). In practice, this is not fail-proof yet. From what I could find on the subject and based on feedback I have from Intel, there should be ways for an application to request to run on high performance cores. I’ll try this approach in future months. In the meantime, as suggested by others, there are workarounds to disable the low performance cores

    Any events must:
Be accessible to full participation by anyone in any time zone (the PvP event was useless to me, happening in the middle of the night); As a result, be available over a reasonable span of time (week+), not 2 hours, non-repeatable (PvP event); Will offer rewards to all players with no monopoly by those who complete it first (see thoramine "event" which was terrible). That is, rewards are by completion, not by speed.

If this is truly the conclusion you have reached then so be it, but I would offer you a word of caution. Be wary of speculation and those who promote it. Its a tool often used by people looking to manipulate public opinion by appealing to cognitive biases rather than facts. If your not sure what that means then I strongly encourage you to look it up, there are countless examples. Also take a look at some of the common logical fallacies as that will help you identify flaws in reasoning and manipulative behavior.

Truthfully, there are many possible reason's for NQ's current stance, or lack there of, but they are not supported by factual evidence and therefore only serve to detract from your argument. Your actual criticism here is that the lack of information is unnerving and harmful to the community. Make that your focus, provide concrete examples and suggestions for improvement. Put in the effort, a hundred weak statements and offhand comments will never match one well written argument.  Also keep in mind that any support you gain from being disrespectful or cheeky is short lived as those same people will have very little respect for you as well.

You clearly have passion for DU and care for the community so I hope you stick around and manage to keep out of trouble. Just stop throwing tomatoes at the devs. Its not helpful to your cause and will only lead to NQ being more reserved and less forthcoming with information. The community needs to maintain a healthy relationship with the dev team and if you want to act as a negotiator then put down the fruit and instead make yourself open to discussion.

Get lost sucker. I played this game for two years without ever using an exploit or glitch, did'nt buy the cheap schemata or used any other irregular moves for my gain. And there are many, many more who played within the rules and honestly. i may not have billions in cash, but surely billions in assets.

I'm strictly against a wipe and the main reason for this is trust. I will not pay a dime to a company which breaks all her promises.

If there's a wipe then everything I have done and built will be a waste of time, also, everything I do between now and the wipe will be a waste of time.
Summer DACs will also be a waste of time.
All the ores I've mined the old way and the calibrations of mining units I've done will all be a waste of time.
So, I guess, until we know that there will be no wipe, even if that is not until after the wipe, there is no point in my playing this game and no point in inviting friends to waste their time playing either.
Please tell us whether there will be a wipe, when will the wipe happen (dates please), how much will be wiped, will we keep our ores, will we keep our Quanta, will our tiles on Sanctuary be kept or will we have to claim new tiles?
    Etc..

It seems that this information has not been detailed, but the panel overview contains two pages, home (home icon) and skins.
So if it can reassure you, the home page will contain general information like :
     - Current balance
     - Current owned constructs (with the maximum based on your talents)
     - Current territories count (with the X/5 HQ reserved)
     - Linked container range
     - Current calibration charges (with maximum based on your talents)
     - Charge regeneration time (based on your talents)

Don't worry about values, developer accounts have super-powerful talents.😁

The problem with slow/painful deconstruct of L cores is that static core BP placement/alignment is a nightmare.

If you try to place a static in alignment with another L core and mess it up, having to do a whole bunch of work to pick it up again, or wait for a repair unit to deconstruct it, means it could take hours or days just to place the core where you want. This is exponentially more of a nightmare if there is a wipe, and we have to place multi-core buildings again. Fix fine control on core alignment and placement (and vertical stacking for towers!) and this problem is solved.
