Bazzy_505 reacted to Aaron Cain in NQ I am extremely disappointed with wrecks.
If wreckage is added as the pillar Exploration, can we just cut down that Pillar.

Adding somethind like trash as exploration is totally meaningless when you first state we can explore entire galaxies, have stargates, etcetera.

Adding some trash in space or whereever and call that incentive to explore is the same as lets say add special cores in space and call it incentive to PvP or add static cores and say that is justification for building Civilization Pillars.

Adding stuff like this to fill a pillar that once had potential just breaks down the game and is not more then adding a mod in space engeneers that places random loot. Know how many mods there are in SE? Please add more serious stuff but i guess that for the serious stuff the server payments will rize and well, thats not going to happen right?

There is a reason almost everywhere you go in DU its quiet, there is a reason the chats ingame ar quiet. maybe dont add silly stuff but incentives to actually play and be present On the planets/moons and have meaningfull playtime around buildings.

I was totally in love with this game pre #23...I even went out a bought a beast PC when I started in Oct, just to play it. I was sucked in by the marketing, and even though it was pitched as a Beta, the impression promoted by NQ is that its waaaaaaay more developed than it is.
Even though it was a bit repetitive, you could usually achieve something in the game, even in just small steps: you always felt like you were moving forward.  Now the tiny pay-offs for huge amounts of tedium, mixed with the brutal damage to cores and element repair,  simply dont feel worth the investment of time. It is basically dull, frustrating and tedious.
I have REALLY tried since the patch to find something in it, and be positive; so I ventured off Alioth to get some decent ore. Upon my return, a glitch caused there to be no altitude/distance data and suddenly I was in the atmosphere, far too fast. Burned up and respawned on the other side of the planet. Now its drudgery-tastic picking up what i need to repair and getting back to sell some t5 that took a day to get out of the ground.  But then do what? rinse & repeat...  the game is 'all fur coat and no knickers' -  theres no substance behind it. No content.

I am now logging in daily just to colled my $ and hoping that something will change soon, because right now it is dulll A.F. and all my interest in it has seriously evaporated.

Bazzy_505 got a reaction from Leniver in NERF MISSIONS!!!!
There a relatively simple solution to this problem which has worked for several other games with NPC delivery package rewards, Archeage and Silkroad to name a few from the top of my head.

The way it works in these games, and i believe it would have worked for Dual Universe  reward for package delivery is dynamic.

The more packages get delivered in one location the lesser the reward becomes with each consecutive delivery.
Consecutive delivery reward malus is not local, but global for all players (simulating reduced demand for the service in a given location)

As an expample Thades to Ion destination may yield 8 mil on the first delivery,  but each consecutive delivery knocks off 10% of the mission reward

On the other hand random mission location on the other side of solar system will receive 5% boost on the top what the current yeld.

Net result of this that it becomes more difficult to serialize mission system with alts, more dynamic world that can occasionally have gold nugget there for sigle account guy.
And more fluid environment for the pipe campers to tackle.

Boosts never cover the delivery decay so eventually alll missions are barely worth doing at some point in the cycle.  The stat weights get reset once every 7 days.  Idealy this should happen at weekends when most people can benefit from "fresh start"

It has worked pretty well for other MMO's in one way or the other, no reason it would not have worked for DU

Economy is far from dead. Does stuff insta sell on the market? no, It can be weeks for an item to sell, but then the next week you can hardly keep the stuff stocked.

You will always sell ore. Its a great way to make money. Even those people with multiple accounts and years of gameplay still sell ore. There are other ways to make money besides selling ore and factory work. (selling ship/ship designs, Selling station/station designs, Selling ore locations, Transporting goods for players, Running aphilia missions, skilling up in Handling skills and buffing other peoples things, Selling things you pirate, And soon what ever these alien things bring us, might even find a situation of guns for hire being a thing.

A new player can compete with players with multiple accounts/years of gameplay in industry. You can hire people to touch your machines so they are running at max efficiency.

If you dont like territory scanning you dont have to. Other people like to scan and you can buy scans off of them. You want random new resources? we already got those they are called asteroids, you want more? Well the new alien mechanic coming in is going to be just that.

This infatuation that a wipe is going to make everything great is just laughable. You say your tired of mining ore just to sell because industry is not worth it for new players. Well with a wipe, industry is not going to be worth it for new players. Atleast not solo players. Its going to be the group of 20 or 50 people that work industry togeather.  And they are not going to sell those first things cheap. So while you say your tired of selling ore, with a wipe your going to mine allot more and sell allot more to be able to buy the things your buying now.

Basically your way better off now as a new player then you would be after a wipe.

I believe that wipe mention at the end of patch annoucement was a very clumsy way for NQ to gauge how much of upheaval can they expect if they had gone through with it.

I've decided long ago, granted after years of broken promises and vaporware annoucements, that NQ is not getting any more of my money unless they show some cosistency in the way they operate their business. And that latest annoucement stunt is wonderful proof of them being exactly the joke we have suspected them to have become.  They should really clarify this cliffhanger promptly, unless they want to loose whatever little left they have for potential playerbase for their so called "release".

I for once, i'm done playing this guess what smells behind curtain number 2 game. Make your mind up, and grow a pair and than maybe, maybe you'll see a cent out of my wallet. Not a moment before than.

Public shaming is forbidden by the forum rules.
If some player have done some reprehensible things to you and breach some basic rules, you have to contact the Customer Support by writing a ticket or reach out a Community Manager in private, just like @Msoul said. We can understand the frustration of such situation. However it's not because another has broken some rules and did some wrong that you're now allowed to break some yourself in return.

    @SMooreace
Refering to a group of players as "pathetic basement dwellers" or similar expressions is not okay, just as it is not okay to call a group of players as "filthy carebears" or similar expressions. Both PvP and Non-PvP players are supposed to respect this simple rule of remaining polite on the forum. If it's beyond your strength, don't participate at all in this kind of topics.

Also before accusing NQ of banning people in a partial way, here's also a reminder of how things work here:
    - If a player uses a bug exploit, don't do the same, just report him/her to Customer Support or a Community Manager. That's the only way to respond appropriately.
    - If you start using the same bug exploit to make justice yourself, then you are as guilty as the first offender and should accept the risk that you might be banned. And yes, sometimes, it may happen that the first offender may not have been caught either because he hasn't been reported properly, or because insufficient info have been brought to our attention. This situation may happen, despite the Novaquark team trying his best to assign sanctions in an impartial way. That's why the only solution to be on the safe side is the first approach mentioned above, and not fall in the mindset "xxxxx did something wrong, so it's fair I will do the same in return, without being sanctioned". That's not how things work and will never be.

As this topic has no constructive purpose, and only inciting to personal attacks, it will now be closed.
    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best Regards,

Bazzy_505 reacted to Thunderblaze in Market Inventory & Splitting Stacks
Can we please have the ability to split stacks in market inventory? Currently, players must buy ore in 500k chunks if they want to pack it up for mission creation purposes since thats about how much fits in an expanded parcel container XL -- and unfortunately, those can not be container hubbed together currently.

Having the ability to split stacks would allow players to place large buy orders up and split up into mission packages from market inventory as needed. This would help make the most out of missions, and provide a quality of life improvement.

    Thank you!

mule is a terrible ship to begin with, the way it's put together very much defines how it handles. I used to build ships like that, but most people in game prefer a different kind of experience

I don't care if you enjoy PvP or not (personally I do enjoy it)...if you resort to boring, repetitive, childish insults, your opinion should be thrown in the dumpster as irrelevant garbage. It doesn't matter "who starts it" -- this isn't 2nd grade and the topic is a video game. If you must use insults, at least save it for a topic worth getting riled over.

If you feel the need to use the term "carebear" or "butthurt", you don't have anything worth saying.

It's a deep irony that people who accuse others of having thin skin or being too "weak" for PvP so often have their feathers ruffled with the drop of a pin.

Actually DU flight model is newtonian to a fault.  However Ailerons in DU are somwhat a misnomer.  Turning on aircraft is initiated by stalling corresponding wing (roll) as it should be.
Aileron in real world is a type of airfoil that changes lift vector (but provides lift on its own).  In DU it works like a fixed lift surface with reduced stall angle profile.
Now some here are mixing apples and oranges.
Airfoil surface that stalls a wing by generating drag (but doesn't provide any lift)  is actually called Spoileron.  It is small distinction with a big difference.

If BUFF had ailerons on its wings instead of spoilerons if would have twisted off its wings hehe.

Atmospheric flight model here is somewhat simplistic, but in its basics true to form. Space flight models is however very much on "placeholder" side of things.

If you really want realistic and true to form flight, it's time to dust off your HOTAS gear and fire up DCS world.  I cannot say for the other planes, but the HOG simulation is as close to the real thing as it gets.

DU has been running for more 4 years and not having a PROPER WIKI does not help with new player retention and establish player experience . The only wiki available is the FANDOM's Dual Universe one, and it is just painfully full with ads, we need an alternative to it.

We at NIS made this quick mockup of a CLEAN WIKI, what could be had if we all work together to make it. https://wiki.nis.do/. It doesn't take much to make it work if enough players join in together to DU IT, no solo player can do this. We offer a start, an initial proposal to the community, lets make this a project we can all back and make happen, a GOD DAM GOOD WIKI FOR DU.

Bazzy_505 got a reaction from i2eilly in What's the player count loking like in 2021?
Numbers wise, i would say the population has been rather flat.  I've been bumping into new players quite frequently in the last 2 months. But most of them tend to go silent after first 2 or 3 weeks.  I have feeling that once they build their first base/factory, get the first workable S and M core ( which we often give them for free because we treat them as unicorns) they tend to run out of things to do, unless they have the Landmark bug.  Can't really blame them, there isn't much to do beyond that.

After demeter i've noticed quite a few pre 0.23 players peeking their heads back in, mostly to come back to check on their old stuff and see if anyone from their old orgs is still playing.   But like new players i would say only about 1/3 of them stick around beyond the move my stuff from surface to space/sact tile.

All in all i'd say DU doesn't bleed any more than it gains back, but it's certainly not growing, and quite frankly why would it?  Even if we get wrecks and salvage in next major pach it isn't quite some novel or excitiong new game loop.  Builders will build, rest will loiter around for a while than shake their heads and move on.  It's the way it was, and apparently that's way it will be for forseeable future.

And decreasing the max speed is going to attract more players how? It's not like you can say "the game is finally balanced" and millions of players just show up. The only thing achieved by taking away things that people could do before is people leaving. Nerf paradigm is not the only strategy to balance things. Buff paradigm can be used to balance things instead.

How about instead of speed nerfs we get speed buffs by over-driving the engines up to 130% throttle to a final speed of 39,000km/h but with a trade-off of losing the engine HP starting at over 100% throttle during acceleration continually until it breaks. Smaller engines could over-drive for longer than the bigger ones. The buff speed of 39,000km/h drops off gradually to 30,000km/h if throttle is not at 130%. Different "flavors" of engines would have different rates of HP loss when over-driven. i.e. Military can be over-driven for considerably longer than the Basic.
