Sarogahtyp got a reaction from Knight-Sevy in Mining today. It used to be better?
One major reason against underground mining on planets is the huge amounts of free ore available to players.
The problem is that everyone can have a huge factory and produce items for next to nothing (with the exception of schematics). This leads to a collapsing market with extremely low prices and a huge oversupply of products.
Each factory owner can depress his prices by simply digging into the ground.
In addition, there is almost no way for factory owners to buy ore on the market (without digging), produce goods, and sell them on the market at a profit.

It is very questionable whether the current system without underground mining on planets can prevent these problems, but at least it will delay the collapse of the market a little...

    just a thought,
    Cheers ...

In the original anouncment of the new schematics system it reads "Copying schematic batches will cost time and a small amount of quanta." I wonder if they just failed at balacing or if the "small amount" was a downright lie from the beginning.

Schematics are just stupid. Remove them already and fire the person that came up with that idea, thanks.

    1. Way too expensive to be considered a "useful" game loop
    2. Only being craftable in inventory is beyond frustrating for your smaller/casual audience.

It will kill your game in the long run. How is money distributed to players? By selling ores to bots? *Insert big brain .jpg here*
So the entire goal of this game is to grind T1 ore to sell it to bots, to be able to afford schematics for their production. Buying stuff/parts from other players in the markets isnt worth it since they will put the schematic price on top.

I quit during alpha/beta when schematics were introduced and came back to review this on release. This system is still beyond garbage, considering I have to manually look up all the schematics needed for a product. Should at least give people the option to "Que up all required schematics for this element" button.

    Cheers

This is going to stop me playing I think, I am part of a large ish ORG but I have been enjoying being self sufficient.  I don't have a  mega factory but I do have a multitude of machines churning away to give me Warp cells from 1 industry unit and other assemblies set up to give me a container when I need it. The initial investment for setting up my mini factory was the time involved mining for the ores, figuring out the production lines and crafting the machines, linking them etc.
Now it seems that  it will take a whole lot more time,  in game currency and talents just to get going to produce the same items. I am not a currency hoarder and to get currency to survive or get anywhere with these changes this just seems to introduce Grind.  Mine some ore, sell it, buy parts, make a poorly designed ship(now limited by my budget), try to sell that or get involved in a large ORG and play the game the way they want you to play it.
Once you've spent all your time grinding enough currency to buy what you need, making machines and training talents, unless this is your job then there won't be any time left to play the fun parts of the game like actually building things or exploring. It's in danger of becoming less of a space Sandbox and more of an Economy Simulator 2.0.

I think this is the wrong way of doing it. The game needs money sinks to get the economy going, not hurdles that will scare new players away.
The industry is already very complicated to setup for a new player, hitting them with more roadblocks that need to be overcome by grinding is not helpful.

Why do this for all items? Why not keep basic stuff free?
Make the special item like Military Engines require a schematic. Introduce new Industry Items that are slightly better and use the researchable schematics for that.

This change will have no impact to larger, already existing orgs, but will punish smaller orgs and news players massively.
I know this is a MMO, but not everyone wants to be part of a large corp. And not everyone will be from day one

Currently the best part of the game is the creativity and ability to create all sorts of stuff.
This change will seriously reduce that and all that will remain is a mining / grind simulator.

This game need proper game mechanics, not just grind.

For a lot of people currently playing and paying, Im sure the following three words will come to mind.

    Nail, Final and Coffin.

You are going to severely kill off a LOT of your player base doing this. I hope you guys have banked enough cash from those subscriptions to carry you through, what will undoubtably be, some very lean times ahead.

Yes, I realise this is a Beta, the question is, do those that are actually paying the monthly light bills realise it ?

I wish ya'll the best and I really hope this does not kill the project.

[Updated Nov 19, 2020 @ 3:02 PM EST]: The rules outlined below apply to teleporting both avatars and constructs. This means that, outside of the list of approved scenarios, we won't be able to fetch your ship and bring it to your location.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Good day fellow Noveans,

I come bearing support-related news! More specifically, I’d like to address teleportation requests with all of you.

For a while now, we’ve allowed players in need of a port to say the word on Discord and - voila - your wish would be granted! ✨
That worked well for a time, but our Discord support channel is now beginning to slip under the veritable wave of port requests… and we’d like to rescue it and all those in need of a ‘lift’.

As of November 19th, we would like everyone in need of teleport-related assistance to use the in-game chat support, or submit an official support ticket. By using the in-game chat function instead of Discord, you’re likely to receive an answer quicker because our GMs are ready and waiting for you there!

Having said that, we’d also like to inform everyone that we will no longer grant port requests if you’re simply out of fuel, stuck in one of your own constructs, or just generally stranded. All port requests will now be investigated, verified and potentially denied if the request falls outside of approved scenarios.

Some examples of when to ask for a port (approved scenarios):

if you’re stuck in an Aphelia construct if you’re trapped in any other player-owned tile (unable to dig) if you’re unable to get past the loading screen upon logging in
What to do if you’re just stuck/out of fuel/stranded:

Don’t forget: there are plenty of player organizations available to assist in your travels through space! Be sure to check out the organizations and services provided on Discord and our Forums. Some organizations will be happy to provide you with transportation, refueling, repairs, building help and so much more!! ?

    How to contact support:

To access in-game chat support, simply click the “support” tab in-game, as depicted below.

From here, it’s as easy as typing up your request, starting the message with "@NQ" and sending it off!

To submit an official support ticket, please click HERE. ?

Then, select the hyperlinked text that says “submit a request” in the top-right corner of the page. Once you see the screen featured below, select the appropriate category for your issue and go to town!

(Quick note for those submitting crash reports: PLEASE do not forget to include a crash log and/or XML logs with your ticket!!)

And there you have it! Let’s all do our part to keep the Discord server free and clear of port requests so that players with big ol’ bugs and other issues to report can receive the visibility they deserve.

    ~NQ-Naunet

PS - I want to give a special shout-out to all of our support staff for everything they do!! Thank you, all!!

    Hi Noveans,

After today's maintenance, we've reintroduced the shipwrecks:

Explore and salvage ships throughout Dual Universe!

Buried into the ground on various planets, more than 100 shipwrecks are scattered all across the Helios system. How to find them? Well, it's up to you and your org since these don't show up on the radar. If you stumble upon them, you'll be able to loot them. What are you waiting for? The search has begun!

    Wrecks rules
The buried salvageable shipwrecks constructs don't appear on the radar or the minimap Every player has a salvaging budget/capacity per salvageable shipwreck, limiting how much stuff he/she can pick of a single wreck or ruin (400 liters by default) This capacity is displayed when raycasting the salvageable construct in (salvaging) Build Mode The exception: the first pick of an ELEMENT has NO restriction (for instance pick a single Engine XL). So choose wisely! Wrecks have a salvaging zone around them that disables territory digging restrictions The salvaging zone is removed once the shipwreck is totally looted (meaning completely emptied of voxels/elements and the core repaired and collected)
    Cheers,
    Nomad

    Hey folks,

while it's perfectly fine for you to wonder about the ways and motives behind certain actions, I'd like to remind you that this should not be reason enough to dive into a heated argument

It's also fine to point out that there's no way to force a statement out of people or make them explain themselves facing accusations. Sure, asking is ok - as is hoping for an answer. Just consider if it was the other way around - would you be more inclined to answer such a question if it was asked nicely with no strings attached, or if the question got a bunch of worst case scenarios and hypothetical reproach in the package?

Both sides made some nice arguments that I personally can relate to and which made reading through the thread fun. But at the same time both sides already overstepped the fine line of civil discussion a bit as well, which made my key ring tingle. So please, when you have a good argument let it stand on its own feet and without evil support-spikes that might hurt someone else.

If you can manage that, then I can keep this thread open so you might actually see an answer to your question at some point. Just keep in mind that this is not a promise, as I don't know the answer, intent or plans myself and so far didn't inquire about it either - my guess would be just as good as yours.

I don't know about that area, but if you may accept a piece of my faith: Novaquark is developing this game and building the Dual Universe for you - not against

    Mellow greetings

The absurdity is in that if Devs wanted to be sneaky and doing scary bad things they'd be doing it with non NQ-Name alts.

Complaining about NQ-Whatever owning something is pretty absurd.

Oh no - a dev holds 37 territories!

I saw those territories yesterday long before this post and couldn't possibly care less.

I'd be concerned if a player had them - but devs, in a beta? Who cares....well I suppose apparently I know "who" cares - the OP - but it's pretty silly...

I understand this was not really the point of the discussion but I just wanted to  clarify that the cost for TCU deployment is actually quadratic and appears to follow  Cost = (120E3)*x^2-(240E3)*x +120E3 where x is the total number of TCUs you have deployed including the one you are about to deploy.  In theory that would lead to an overall cost of $1,944,720,000 for 37 active TCUs.

With regards to the actual topic I think its fine to make an inquiry about it, but be aware that the developers might not be able to comment right away since it is a weekend. Try to keep the speculation to a minimum for now everyone.

Oh oh, easy there with the accusations

To all we know this could just be happening in order to test something. As counter hypothesis: this might as well be based on a bug report by some player who said that owning more than a certain number of tiles leads to bug xyz. Or maybe that area has been reported to be bugged. Or even something completely different. And this being done on the live server can easily be justified by everything being in active development beta status. Maybe it's even required to do it here if it only happens at current circumstances only present in the live system.

The thing is: we don't know.

On top of this: nobody complained about Aphelia owning... err as much tiles as equivalent to 20km diameter (or even radius?) around it? And nobody accuses GMs of cheating when they teleport players around? Come on, I think we can relax. I'm sure NQ-Sophon won't turn his power against the player population or build some dark empire or take our fun away

    Hello,
my following suggestions are related to skills with the "...when put down ..." note. I'm referring me to factory related skills but it could be useful for every skill with that note.

One could decide to learn factory related skills as much as one can and then offer to sell the skill advantages for factory machines to other players by just putting down his machines.
In a big factory with hundreds of linked devices this could be frustrating because that player would have to build the whole factory again just to set up those skill advantages to the machines.
My suggestion is to get a menu entry by right clicking a device to set those advantages without to have to put down that machine again. Maybe there could be a cooldown timer for that action to get a delay between those skill advantage transfers but I think those menu entry is needed to get those gameplay working...

I think pvp is definitely needed for a game like this but I do think it's fine the way it currently is. (Specifically talking about the current safe zone area)
Else, you are effectively saying for folks that dont want to participate in pvp, that they're restricted to just 1 hex for the most part.

I belive that a player should be able to opt out of any part of the game, if he is willing to suffer the desavantage.
Ppl should to opt-out crafting and industry, if they are willing to buy stuff at the price it exists.
Ppl should be able to opt-out pvp if they dont mind being stranded on a safezone waiting for freight ships to sell them the high tier ore they need.

The pvp free zones serve 2 proposes
1 so ppl can have 1 tile to park their constructs.
2 so new players can have a start without being immediately shot down.

Having 1 single sanctuary moon already serves this propose.
I do think the starter area should be alioth and all its moons. But i dont agree with pvp free zones in every planet.
