I hope you realize this makes no sense at all right?

While yes, retaining core BPs will retain the ELEMENT buffs the construct has, it will not maintainthe PLAYER buffs which really are as, if not more important.

And only retaining core blueprints actually AIDS the designers and builders as they do not need to redo their work and can start selling again as soon as they either get the materials or players have been able to build up their bank accounts again.

NQ has already been clear that CORE blueprints will be persistent across the wipe as well. Of course players whould not be able to retain the ships or blueprints they previously bought. You can only have core blueprints if you are the construct creator or if the construct is DRM free..

Frankly.. what you on?. You make very little sense, so please.. just sit down already.

That is not what is happening.  This picture your painting is not the current DU.  You are missing the part where the game is dying.  You are missing the part where this is a video game.
You had to graduate from a school before you could play DU?  You got hustled, because I just logged in one day and started playing.
You are comparing real life fortune, to a fortune you attained in a unfinished, broken, easily exploited game?  What kind of acrobatics did your brain have to do to allow you to type that out?
Whining about losing everything?  you anti-wipers and not whining about losing 'everything', you are whining about losing your massive advantage. All your righteous posts of why not to wipe are just bullshit.  They never make any sense.  Just like this post.  You missed some important things, and your comparisons are so far off, but you did it on purpose to try and add weight to your no-wipe nonsense.

We are playing a futuristic space game.  The thought of slapping a bigger alternator into my space ship just does not compute.
The Enterprise runs on ion engines.   Why not introduce ion engines?? tier 1-3 space only, with tier 4-5 able to work in atmosphere. Then we can do away with engines and wings and start building some true spaceships.
Making it a tier 5 upgrade that runs on fuel cells, so we have to mine for uranium and plutonium, and making fuel engines and fuel extremely inefficient.  One connection per fuel tank, lower the amount the fuel tanks can hold, increase fuel consumption, lower the amount of power on all engines, add weight to the wings.
Something that makes sense in a futuristic space game.
I'm getting nightmare visons of going to autozone, in the year 7474, in a beat up space ship to pick up my new 12000 amp alternator to finally bump my 100 million quanta subwoofers...

are we being serious?  how is this 'power' going to scale?  with the engines?  the core?  how is the core getting so much power?  Does it run out?  If the core has so much power, why not run the ship on power alone?

I took a contributor pack, no way to use my DACs to test this first iteration.
Why not create bDACs (Beta Dual Access Coupons) to test the implementation of the feature and make sure that everything works as expected ?

I don't get why power management would come to ships.  There is already fuel.  Fuel is the power management.  If we get a nuclear or dark matter power source upgrade that does away with fuel, that would make sense.  But, I don't get why fuel is not enough pwr mngt for ships.  Give pwr mngt to static cores.

If I tell John Doe: "I sell you a DAC for 20M quanta" and he gives me the money, and I do not give him the DAC, that is not even against the TOS. So with the lack of trust and guarantees, you can pretty much only trade via a trustworthy party, or with with people you trust directly, corret?

This is about as good as the old dispensers, which didnt show what you buy as you pay.

As nice as player created missions sound, I think the big problem with them will be that nobody is prepared to pay someone enough money to do their hauling for them in order to make it worth doing.  Perhaps you could put some specifics up here?  What would the value of the ore be that you would want hauled, how much do the warp cells cost?  How much are you prepared to pay on top of the warp cell cost for a haulier?  Or are you hoping they will slow boat it more cheaply than you can warp it?

My guess is long before hauling gets expensive enough to get people to actually do it people will just decide hauling is too expensive and that they will warp cargo themselves.

Which is what you're doing right now ...

I understand your point, but the reality is that MC has proven that it can retain and grow a massive, massive audience of players.

You're saying you spent years in MC...that's really good retention and lends evidence to the idea that building is a viable niche.

Everything about MC's demographics suggests that builders can carry a game financially. I mean...MC is among the most successful games in history. Yes, people get bored eventually, but that's true of every game ever, sub or MMO or otherwise.

Nearly 30 million people bought Minecraft last year alone (2020)...DU won't get 30 million sales for its entire life.

I'm not understanding the idea that builders can't carry a game financially because there's ample evidence in the industry to suggest otherwise.

This is probably one of the, if not he top issue voiced around here.

Unfortunately NQ is dead silent on this and has not shown any interest in addressing the issue beyond silly changes like making the available surface area bigger which only led to more junk being spread in a wider area. Not that we told them this would happen...

I know this is beta and not a finished game but when you look at places like MMORPG.com and they call the game a junkyard simulator it is not good. I have tried to bring people into the game but right from the moment they get the tutorial done they hate it because you go out the door to garbage everywhere and lag like hell, you go to a market place and garbage everywhere and you lag like hell.  So most of the people laugh and quit the game as nothing more than a joke.

So why not clean it up and keep the trade hubs clear. I cannot believe adding a timer on how long your ship or stuff stays before impounded or sent to your inventory or even a temp inventory would be that hard to create.

I just think that if more people played, you have more revenue coming in and that helps the game...just my opinion.

All the people I got to stay past the garbage love the game and can't wait for more content, some that are not playing are still paying to burn skills.

Each of us has a different reason for playing video games.
I can tell you why I played with it: to vent my creative vein, my need to build and see my aesthetic sense and inventiveness realized, my hobbyist design skills and amazed by the artistic solutions found by others.
Yes, I am from that part of the players who played DU for his creative ability. PVP and commerce have never attracted me.
    I liked to build.
And I still do, in other games and even out of games.
I don't know what "all adults" are doing to play a video game. Everyone has their own reason.
There is no more valid or less valid reason. There is only how you perceive it, for yourself.

As for the rest, I am sorry to be "brutal" but no one who is going to close a game will ever tell you "in 6 months we are planning to close everything, in the meantime we will squeeze you as much as we can".
    It's commercial madness.
    You won't know.
If they tell you that everything will be fine, that they won't whipe, and that everything will go smoothly, it could be true, or a huge bullshit. It is up to you to decide whether to continue or not.
But what you are asking is ... naive.
    Extremely naive.

Looking at the situation of this game, all you remaining hardcores can think about is "but... what about my stuff?"? It is like the world is at war, an ICBM is about to hit the city, and all you can think about is your gold in the safe? How about we all agree to a f***ing wipe (including the talent) since this game has been released in such a condition that it shouldn't have been released? Save the game, save yourself, not save your gold! This is the f***ing problem with you people: you are in an Indiana Jones movie, there is a cave full of gold that your team have discovered, the cave is about to collapse and you want to remain there until your death because you couldn't let go of the gold! Fix the f***ing game, wipe it, and let us all restart in an equal foot! This isn't f***ing Lord of the Rings man! You people have been consumed by the ring, succumbed by it's power! Get real with yourself man! You people are full of joke! Talk all you want OK, the f***ing game is about to go!

DU needs to take the first step and become a game before you can talk about taking ideas from other games, as is, DU has nothing game loop wise, its all just an attempt at simulation. NQ just wants to sit back and let their community do all the work for content creation because for some reason or the other, be it incompetence or lack of funding, they are unable to to create meaningful features for the project that could turn it into a game to retain players.
