hi, here would be my question to NQ team:
You write: - A complete wipe (except blueprints) with solutions to allow old players to quickly rebuild their favorite constructs through various means.
This would favor only builders, the people who made industry and grind the quantas for schematics are not considered. This is an unfair advantage for master builders. Also people who have made advanced Lua scripts will be favored since they have local backups.
For me there are only two options, complete wipe including blueprints (where Lua scripters still have a big advantage) or no wipe.
One more note from me, I joined DU at the end of the alpha because I didn't want to play alphas anymore and where did I end up, in an alpha, I joined because they promised a persistent world. As an entrepreneur you should make final decisions and not hesitate, then the customers know where they stand.

The surface spawn is a messed up thing, I have areas that are in the mountains, and would have to constantly run up and down and slalom around the trees in the forest. I'm sorry, I don't see how this is fun. Now I have to do that after every calibration, no thanks.

DontPanic reacted to Xennial in DU progress feedback
Feedback is simple, your update is poorly thought out. I'm not sure what the dev meetings must be like over there at NQ but let me make this KISS for you folks:
Currently:
Zero reason to build anything period outside of a ship. Especially now with your well thought out brutal tax on any grand building ideas creatives might have ever had for POI's.
PvP that most hate and even the PvP'ers have to admit sucks in it's implementation, never mind completely broken risk vs reward balance
Player based economy is a joke with your constant meddling with bots & refusal to let players setup markets
Industrial gameplay that was put out of reach of all but groups or highly dedicated no lifers with endless time on their hands
Gigantic game world that is so sparsely populated deserts in the real world seem to team with life by comparison
Asteroid mechanics that defy game design logic in their implementation (I mean really is it THAT hard for you to spawn roids randomly and continually like literally every space game with mining ... ever?)
Completely broken organization tools that make managing any group harder not easier.
Mission system that could have be automatic and really helped the game world when it comes to posting / payouts , instead is a hot mess of must be present hand shaking nonsense.
I could go on honestly, but EVERY single time you people do an update you overcomplicate everything and make it a nightmarish chore, rather then simply go "here are auto miners, enjoy". Asteroids same darn thing, couldn't just create a asteroid belt in the game and have rocks spawn randomly for period of time, part in the safe zone part out? OH NO , you had to make even something simple like digging a rock the most arse backwards design of all time.
*sighs* I am not sure what your grand vision for DU is anymore , but it certainly does not contain the word 'fun' for most people. Every update makes the game more grindy, more work, less reward. The only joy people seem to have anymore is sitting in Discord / Forums talking about game theory of what DU might have been if it wasn't what it is.

Update: So I did the things recommended....
- HQ'ed tiles I wanted to keep
- Moved to Space
- Tried going back to Sanctuary.
- Reduced My Expectations
- Even used a Beta Key to try restarting new...
I can no longer enjoy this game in the current state. There are jobs I have hated that were more exciting then the daily logins to Nanny your Mining Unit. Until the developers change the Mining Units or implement a new way to progress in the game there is no point in playing. I gave this update a try, I took all of the advice, and the progression rate which was already abysmal is now unbearable.
I love this community and the people in it, even those I disagree and fight with but I just can't DU it any longer. Not until they fix things, which is unlikely, cause they don't care if players leave.
Original Post:
I will be taking an extended and potentially permanent break from DU.
If you see me log in, it will be to kick (calibrate) mining units, post a haul mission, and sell things so I don't lose tiles.
It is clear the developers don't respect the players or their time, and if the tax situation doesn't get fixed with the falling ore prices, no point in owning tiles to earn a little more than break even.
Also Sanctuary sucks...
( will be placing everything of value on HQ tiles to ensure no one scalps my stuff.)

Don't worry, NQ will screw up that too, just wait.
Sooner or later they will come up with some kind of restriction to what you can do in your sanctuary territory.

DontPanic reacted to Gottchar in Demeter 0.27 Release - Discussion Thread
So while I am unable to log in anyway, here my thoughts about Demeter so far:
-Mining units are fine for the most part, it would be nice if charge gain and calibration loss was both halved, just so that you dont have to log in every single day. We all know I will anyway, but the game shouldnt persuade you that hard.
-Headquarters are nice enough, it will just take a week or two for people to finally understand the concept "you still have to pay to have machines active, it is just immune to loss".
-I have noticed no difference regarding loading times or other benefits of the dirt reset, but plenty of other people are amazed they can now "VR someplace, or use scanners, like other people can". I wasnt even aware it was so shit for some others.
-Was still not able to find the "element overlapping" sign anywhere.
-But I do now have some weird bar across the minimap, even outside build mode, is that it? ?
-You got rid of mass info while flying, I liked checking my total cargo there, when I forgot to long to container or just have multiple hubs. This is not even in the patch notes, was it on purpose?
-I dont see updates on the updated roadmap.
-Not sure what rendering change there is to industry units, I had a good look when restart machines for 4 hours after the downtime, but they are still the same. And still show the wrong light colours and like to just get fucked all the time.
-Force field change is nice.
-Underwater landing is even harder now, because water is muddier.
-Most of the "UI" polish is hard to judge without direct comparison, I really cant tell.
-Space fuel XS, nice.
-
Mining unit collision is massively bigger a few seconds after deploying. So if you place a few, you then have to rearrange them so they dont overlap.
-Added "view market page"! Hell yes, thx guys, I think most people didnt even notice this one yet.
-People who made DSATs had their 60M schematics turned into 3M schematics without compensation.
-People who owned DSATs, had their 16M items turned into a 1.7M item, with no compensation.
Instead of just introducing a new basic DSAT that only works on basic and common asteroids. Solving the same issue, but without fucking some people over.
-VR-mission change: There are two kinds of people (with some overlap) who do the big moneymaker missions.
Car-pool guys, where 20 people VR to one guy with a ship to take and turn in the mission.
Alt guys, where a guy and his 20 alts do the mission.
The car pool guys at least did something that, while imbalanceds in the game, was in theory available to everybody, you got rid of that. The Alt guys can continue unhindered. Why not use one of the working solutions?
-Weapon changes: Nobody bloody cares.
I did the extremely hard math and found out that there are more engines in use than weapons, why not balance those for once? Just put pvp balancing on ice for now, it is a bottomless pit for dev time in some dirty shitcorner of the game most people dont visit anyway.
-Plenty of DC, lag, prolonged wait time, inability to log in, which I guess goes away in a day or two anyway.
Can you please hire a guy with the only job being to point out how something might be shit? This game has issues, you come up with solutions, those solutions however often are flawed and turn out worse than the issue they try to fix. The dedicated "pointing out how this could be shit"-guy, would help.

DontPanic reacted to Vhaeyne in These tax rates are absurd.
If being a vulture is a valid play style then DDoSing the server every time something doesn't go your way should be a valid play style too.
Why not? "It's how they choose to play the game!"
Playing as a vulture literally invalidates every play style NQ has tried to balance.
There will be a mad dash to get all the people's shit who quit for a few weeks, and then there will be less than 8k people with a bunch of shit they did not earn. GG
I ignored the other shit in your post because those are not the ways I choose to play the game. I gathered for myself and I built for myself. That was my play style and it was valid. I liked it. Everything me and my friends have we earned together.
The mission system is busted, and the asteroids are a fucking shitty underdeveloped mechanic. The devs manually add asteroids to the game one day a week. That is just shitty. The giga-brains at NQ can get a whole procedural universe going, but they can't automate asteroids in an intelligent way?
The population graph may not be 100% accurate, but there is zero reason to doubt that it's not in the right ballpark for this specific game. Before seeing that graph, I would have estimated that maybe 2k people play this game daily. I have played private servers with populations between 500 and 1000 with more active YouTubers, Streamers, Discord, Forums and Reddit. There is barely a web presence for this game. That population graph could very well be overestimating by a lot.
Why am I so bothered by the game's population in beta? Because I have played betas where the devs refused to be sensible, and the game died on or before launch. Crowfall, Darkfall: New Dawn, Ever Quest Next. Many other decent MMORPGs are gone now too because the devs wanted to choose pay to win mechanics or just outright ignored what the players wanted.
Also, there is the part where when I invested to Kickstart this game. I wanted the game they pitched in the video. Not this shit.

DontPanic reacted to TonyTones in Gathering your questions for the Q&A on Wednesday, December 1st
Someone already mentioned new player experience but I'm giving it a try to give detailed feedback. I am not new, but am currently going through the game on an alt as a new player with 0 quanta on sanc. I have 4 autominers now on Sanctuary but my tile only has 13 bauxite (others are just over 100). I automine a total of 116 ore per hour. I received 10k T1 from calibration. I can sell that to bots for 250k or less. Schematics to build M industry, parts, and refine pures is 5m or so. I can do all tutorials and get 1.5m? That means I have access to 2m maybe.
I can get to space barely but will take much more time to get a ship that's able to do missions for example.
I can't buy a DSAT (18m) or schematic let alone equipment to build one in order to asteroid mine.
What that leaves is a waiting weeks for autominers to produce enough ore to make quanta or surface mining for 10s of hours. Even if I work my way up to mining on Alioth, still lots of afk waiting. Besides joining an org and getting free things, that's the options here. Is that intended? is there a solution in the works?
Others have said get rid of early game schematics. That would help
To clarify, my issue with this is there's nothing to do early game because factory and asteroids have a huge quanta barrier.

DontPanic reacted to Mucus in Gathering your questions for the Q&A on Wednesday, December 1st
Do you really think that a completely random mining calibration mini game grind is FUN ?
Why, if this was a performance improvement do we still get pending ops when transforming the surface?

Dear Developers.
What I don't understand is why NQ isn't able to include a soft terrain wipe feature that allows mining underground without any permanent impact on the database.
Another voxel game, Empyrion, that has implemented this.
The difference with the current terrain reset in Dementer is that the terrain around the base, and even in the base itself, is not changed. So if you have an underground base, the terrain in and around that base is not reset.
But no, they remove a well-functioning game mechanic to switch to the autominer, which I have to constantly calibrate to pay my taxes with the meager yield.
If NQ doesn't have such a feature they should program it and bring back underground mining, that would be a positive addition to the autominer.
So personally I don't enjoy the game at the moment, so please make something that covers a wide range of play styles, only then can the game be a success.
