GraXXoR got a reaction from ELX987 in NQ suggests buffing engines, your thoughts?
They could just create 2L, 3L and 4L engines that are 2x, 3x and 4x longer and heavier and provide 2x, 3x or 4x boost. no need to change their profiles, just extrude the shapes out longer. I know how NQ loves minimum work required solutions. they'd just be 2x 3x and 4x expensive, heavy, etc.

Or they could allow elements to be stacked inline from front to back and combine their thrusts. (note, by stacking, I don't mean glitching) i.e.  lay them along the length of the vessel and add their thrust to the unit directly behind it.

first one seems simple enough to me...

Am I the only one who want an XS Space fuel tank? I'm fed up of having to cart a massive barrel of lard around with me just to use Vertical Thrusters.
Also, while you're at it, could I have some super cool XS hover pads... Maybe half the size and power of the current ones (say 2 x 2 voxels or something)  so we can put one front and back or on each corner of a transport and not have it look like a meth cooking-spoon?
This would be great for some truly minimal, and maybe even speedy, personal transport!

And if I understood the 0.25 release notes correctly, there has been no compression on voxel data until now?!? Well, that explains A LOT..

Why only pewpew? There is stuff beyond pure instance scale PvP dimension.

Shipbuilding in SB objectivly much deeper and interesting from functionality/interactivity/immersion standpoint, promising capital ship mechanics with really large ships (end game for large groups). Industry planned to be again with focus on interacitivity/engineering challenge (conveyor belts with programmable robot arms etc).  Some exploration/expedition elements (hostile enviroments). There will be obviously more healthy population (at least -- initialy), so politics and social/diplomacy things -- at least on level of average MMO with factions/clans wars.

Granted, SB have lesser scale (ambition), then DU and quasi-one shard, there is still fun with voxels vs premade parts, but competition actualy more complex, then simplified pewpew against so called civilization building. With all this I still hestitant to super hyping SB, because its jumping from one rough Alpha to another bit less rough one, with own share of problems. There will be people dissapointed about SB too.

But what is fore sure -- FrozenByte seems to be leagues ahead more responsable with what they doing and communicative with players.

Exactly this. We call them 'Safety Net Cores'. Essentially Dynamic L cores placed so the origin of the core is in the center of a landing bay. Move the core element out of sight and you're done. Now, to actually dock to another ship within the 'dock area' of the bay, you need to get your child ship REAL close to dock it. It mostly prevents docking accidents.

    LOL @GraXXoR

Reality has certain caught up with my post from 2017

SC - all ships available in game, new ships buyable in game after 6-9 months
SE - runs 100+ player multi server clusters without much problem
DU - Waiting for word on whether the company will actually survive and get new funding

My investment in SC and DU is about on par, both low 4 digits .. not sorry about either. and not playing either right now.
SE I paid €20 for and I just insta buy the DLCs when they come out.. And have been having a lot of fun playing SE again..

As @Habitant said above #1 is SSD.

You can get any current midrange Intel or AMD CPU with 6+ cores and that will be plenty for most games.

Let's just assume that you won't be squeezing blood from a stone and trying to get a GPU, but rather hang on to what you've got. Prices are in an unholy place right now.
If you can wait a little and have a poor IGPU (Integrated GPU on the chip) setup right now you might want to wait for the Ryzen 6700 (IIRC) which will come with VEGA 8 graphics built in... It's not a racehorse, but it should be better than current offerings.  You'll need an AM4 motherboard, obviously.

If you're not changing your CPU/GPU then at least these two things make the most sense regardless of your setup:

    SATA or NVME SSD
    2x16GB RAM

    SSD:

I will NEVER buy a PC with application/OS storage on spinning rust (HDD) ever again again. Full Stop! Just don't punish yourself or your PC like that.
SSDs make a world of difference and can be well over x10 faster than HDD in some scenarios.

Don't fret if your motherboard doesn't come with a dedicated PCI (M2) NVME slot for an SSD. You will get 90%+ of the performance boost of SSD from merely replacing your SATA HDD with a SATA SSD and won't re that much difference moving up to PCI based solutions unless all your other components are top notch.
However, if you do have an M2 slot on your motherboard, there is little point getting a SATA SSD right now since the price difference is minimal.

Get a quality SSD with DRAM cache (i.e. not DRAMLESS) 512Gb seems the sweet spot for performance/durability vs price right now.  I always go with Samsung EVO and have never replaced even a single one yet since 2016.  But of course, YMMV.

    RAM:

32GB of RAM or more will give you an all-round smoother performance and reduce wear and tear on your SSD due to swapping data off and on to the disk when RAM is full. (Make sure you get 2x16Gb to give you dual channel and to let you expand with another 2x16 down the line if ever needed for future proofing.)

Don't worry about super expensive overclocked RAM it makes at most only a few % difference to speed in some cases... just get any decent branded RAM like Patriot, Corsair or Crucial and at the stock speed recommended for your CPU.

    FINAL, PRO TIP:

Despite all marketing claims, RGB DOES NOT actually boost performance of the attached component by 50% ?

This is a known problem....  and has been ongoing for a long time now.

IIANM, Utopia Spacers' Guild have been using large cores placed in strategic locations as "anchors" to stop medium cores "stealing" small and x-small ships from their landing pads merely by parking close to other ships.

I think the idea is that placing a large core means any ships in the area become slaved to the large core rather than each other, so remain, effectively independent.

Give that a go.   Or contact USG on discord and ask them about it. They are a super friendly bunch.

At some point in a relationship you sometimes have to recognize when it is becoming toxic due to the inactivity or inability to communicate from one or both parties.  Once you are sure that a relationship has passed a certain point then usually there is only one outcome that is logical, and a lot of people here have already passed that threshold weeks ago.  More are getting to that point.  Daily it seems.

It hurts the most when you know the relationship could be salvaged or at least extended just a bit with better communication or a tiny bit of effort.  Then your heart breaks when you never hear a word or see any of that effort put in and you may never know the whole story of why.

Reason I think quite simple and nothing to do with "complex technology" or "studio size".

JC lied for years about actual state of game, both from technical and disign standpoint (something that become painfully obviously from latest post-JC blogs). Generaly he gone into Beta with completly (saying in card game terminology) empty hands, bullshiting us about "no red flags". I kinda repeat myself on this, but can't stess enough how its answers most of problems around.

In this situation, its obvious that they just can't do "honest" weekly updates without compeltly unmasking what kind of mess going on inside, with years long tech debt and no clear understanding of road ahaed. Actualy I think most of time they work not with things we expect (like actual new features), but trying to fix falling apart backend or something. So this why we can only have very rare and rather small updates about stuff they kinda less fearful to actually show. Its like you mucked up exam preparation and desperatly want to talk only about bits you somewhat know.
