Kuritho reacted to GalloInfligo in How hard (or easy) will it be to earn DAC?
I am against having Loot able DACs in game. for the following reasons.

    1)  It is assumed that once you use it to add to your game time, its a timer, so if you know you are going to be off line for an extended time, you should have the ability to buy them when they are cheap, and hold onto them for when you need to use them.
    2)  It is not IMHO emergent game play to loot these, as they have no real game world purpose so why should a character even want them?  Resources on the other hand, yes a character would desire that.
    3)  This whole market crashing BS can still be done safely using the safe zones or other methods as described by GrandMasterApex.
    4)  If Credits are non loot able, which has a real presence in the game, why should DACs not also be safe?  It is more emergent game play to demand the ability to loot credits.
    5)  IMHO it is a better plan to resolve these complaints of hoarding, by making these items only able to be sold or traded ONCE.  This solves almost all of the legitimate complaints against keeping them non-loot able, but also lets players hold in game purchased ones till they need to use them safely.  This will also stop scams and griefing people buy luring them out to remote PVP areas with extremely low prices, to only be pounced on after they are purchased.

I also think it is ridiculous to be taking so much of the community's time and NQ's time discussing this now when the release of the game is 2 years out.  I would much rather have the NQ team focusing on building a great stable Alpha, and construct vs. construct combat, you know the important EMERGENT game play.

Also I thought since most of the PRO loot able arguments were coming from EVE players and supporting how great it works in eve I would share the following link.

    https://community.ev...ges-on-the-way/

In particular this part of it.  "The PLEX Vault will allow you to move PLEX safely throughout the universe rather than having to move it in a ship."

So i personally consider all "this is how it works in EVE " ETC. arguments invalid since it no longer is the way EVE works.  Also I would like to add that if it was working so well why did CCP change it and should we also then consider the why and the route they went.

Found in: Post-Collision Era, 13 Opels (1 Opels = 2 Earth Years, Daems are rounded up to 0.05 but can be much more precise.)
    Description:
DEM was found by Jake Mason (fictional name by the way) when their city created by the Arkship B-17 was experiencing a power shortage. Quickly DEM was formed in this desperate time and slowly rose to power. They forced a lawful Dictatorship on the community and built shuttles to explore the Navado, Herva's moon. They found energy-rich resources on the surface of Navado and was 4th factions to travel outside their home system.
    HISTORY:
7.000 Opels:  Arkship landed. This Arkship created a small colony on Herva and then the humans awoke from cryosleep to a fully functional city.
7.200 Opels: This city was named Harmony.
7.250 Opels: Jake was born. He was the first natural child to be born without edited genes.
8.100 Opels: Harmony became a purist faction and encourage natural births.
8.700 Opels: First AI was made. Tried to overthrow humanity but was killed by pulling the power plug.

13.00 Opels: DEM was born. Originally named Jake Enterprises, it had the net-worth of 15,000 sparks; Jake is 24 years old;Graduates from College (due to superior learning techniques in the future, knowledge can be taught easier)
13.50 Opels: First AI (Kaun) with protocols was born; Jake Enterprises renamed to Dauntless Energy Mining.
13.75 Opels: First war happens due to energy disputes. DEM produces weaponry and becomes the victor of main energy sources.
14.00 Opels: First manned shuttle was bought into space and mined the moons resources.
14.50 Opels: Colonization on the moon happens.
15.00 Opels: Traveled to the Seru star system; IDBCL-2  containment breach when they visited Garten, Seru Star System; DEM celebrates having 100,000 members; Nadam elected to be Sub-Leader of the Political Branch.
15.25 Opels: Human Life Expectancy raised by 10  Graduates from College (due to superior learning techniques in the future, knowledge can be taught easier) due to DEM's Science Branch; Full-Out war with the "Infestation" which IDBCL-2 brings.
15.50 Opels: IDBCL-2's gene's have been figured out. Scientists realized that the cure is a bullet to the head and has to spread in order to be harmless. Everyone baffled and worried and the placebo effect makes people think they're infected.
15.52 Opels: Scientists deploy a fake cure for IDBCL-2. Apparently the cure works slightly.
    Vehicles:
    MK-4 EXOM (Exosuit Mech):
The MK-3 EXOM is a hefty piece of armor powered by gravitational anomalies. To move a arm or leg piece, an anomaly is shifted in the suit. This makes the suit worth about 509 Million Dollars. The mech includes an enclosed cockpit, movement booster thrusters, and has a nuclear reactor. The reason of a nuclear reactor is to go nuclear if needed. These Exosuits are similar to Titans but much smaller. A heavy 35mm cannon can ensure totally destruction of a shuttle or a squad. 17 were made, so the cost in total was a hefty 8.658 billion dollars. The EXOM quickly paid for itself as it helped shaped the line of warfare. Nobody has fought DEM since.

No, organisations and alliances should set out there own rules and enforce them as they see fit.

The way I see this working is that it will be like the naval wars of the 18th century, you might be privateer in good standing to the British but the Spanish would consider you a pirate and an outlaw.

Some sort of agreement not to shoot people leaving the safe zone and "rules of war" might be welcome but that's up to organizations to decide for there members but thats more to prevent unwanted escalations.

    Dear backers,

Although the Kickstarter finished 10 days ago, our team has still been busy! We’ve barely had time to catch our breath before we look forward to the next phase of development. However, we wanted to take the time to answer the questions we know many of you still have.

8,000 Backers Social Goal Reached, Reward Revealed

We were amazed to reach the goal and go significantly beyond it in the final 24 hours. You guys rock!!! If you missed the good news, we revealed the 8,000 backer reward just before the end of the campaign. Every Kickstarter backer will receive a unique and Kickstarter-exclusive blueprint of a single-player hovercraft! (Players will still have to gather the materials to build it.) We will give more info soon.

    Backer List and Funds Transfer

Usually, Kickstarter sends a list of backers between 1-2 weeks after a campaign has ended. For larger campaigns it is usually closer to 2 weeks. It shouldn’t be long before we receive the list. Once we get all the data, we will send you a form to fill out in order to get additional information, like the name reservation for your character(s). As for the funds, we are still waiting to receive them. They should be transferred soon, and we are working with the Kickstarter team to make it happen as soon as possible.

Payment Portal Launch and Packs Availability

Development of the new payment portal that will help us continue the crowdfunding effort is underway. We want to make sure you understand what will and won’t be available on this new platform, so read on to find out more.

    There will be two phases:

Phase 1 will be short and temporary, starting from the payment portal launch date and going through the end of the year. Packages will be quite similar to the Kickstarter packs, so that those of you who couldn’t pledge during the Kickstarter campaign for various reasons (not being able to pay with PayPal, missing the end date of the Kickstarter, etc.) can still support us. The available Founder packs will have the same number of DACs as the Kickstarter ones. However, they will have a few less perks.
The following packs/rewards will not be available because they were all Kickstarter exclusives:
Early bird and boosted packs. The rewards tied to social goals (reaching 6,000 and then 8,000 backers), which were name reservations for every backer and the exclusive single-player hovercraft blueprint mentioned above.  The Kickstarter outfit for Bronze packs and above, and the in-game pets for Silver packs and above. Phase 2 will begin in January 2017. The Founder packs will be removed permanently, and will be replaced by Supporter packs. The Supporter packs will be significantly different and the price of the DACs slightly higher. Don’t worry, they will still be cheaper than after the official release! For those who like in-game pets and didn’t have the opportunity to get one from the Kickstarter, we plan to make a new one available through an add-on.

    Update frequency

The Kickstarter campaign was very intense, and necessitated frequent updates. While we still plan to update you regularly about the development progress, the updates will come less often than during the Kickstarter. You can still count on hearing from us when we’ve achieved a milestone! If you are interested in more regular communication with us, you can follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook. You can also subscribe to our monthly newsletter.

We have also some exciting things to share with you that we didn’t have time to tell you about during the Kickstarter, including details about the storyline and guidelines for fan fiction compatible with the official lore. We also have not one, but two community contests planned for November and December, so stay tuned!

I think this option would work best:

    Criteria:
You must be alive to destruct your ship.

    What happens:
When you self destruct, your ship obviously incinerates... killing anyone on board including yourself.
Your saved blueprint/design for the ship is deleted.

    End product:
1.) Everyone inside of the ship is dead.
2.) Your blueprint has been destroyed.
3.) You have to recreate the design based on memory alone.

No time limits, nothing so arbitrary and limiting.  Purely punishing behavior that can be employed based on whether or not it's "worth" it to the user, or not.

Yeah, clearly no SW design there - it doesn't feature those block shaped turbolaser batteries, it doesn't feature the bridge with the two shield generators on top of it, and it clearly and certainly doesn't look exactly like an imperial class star destroyer.

    Oh wait

Do what you want but I think this goes to far. Design something new. Be creative. Don't just copy something. You're free to build everything you can imagine, would be a waste of time to only think of such old designs

How can a territory be obtained from another faction?
Well, two main thoughts come to mind:
-Peacefully Obtained through trade (land for land, land for resources, land for money)
    -Forceful conquest

This post is to discuss how players can take territories by force
Capturing territory from another faction should be no easy task, automated defenses and player defenses will be present in larger, more desirable territories. But capturing someone's land should not be impossibly hard either. It should cost more resources to launch a successful offensive than maintain a defensive line. My idea would be to set up a web of command posts or capturable locations in a large territory hex. You, as an invader, must capture all of these secured points to be able to claim the territory.

This is an example of zones within a hex territory. An invading group would have to overpower zones  A through F, or a majority of the zones before they are allowed to capture the master command post represented as G. This makes invading factions form attack plans to capture the outer command posts before they can take a central power, and requires invading factions to scout out where a command post lies within each zone they are planning to capture. It also requires a heavy amount of scouting to find out which zones invaders should attack based on defenses and guards. Not all territory hex's should operate like this, but the Capital hex territory, or main command point for all the other hexes. The Capital hex should be the first territory you claim in that area, and should be able to be moved to other hex territories you claim later on in the same hex cluster (connected hexes)

Please post your opinion about this and your ideas!

Kuritho reacted to AccuNut in Proposed sound range?
Good idea! In addition, what do you think of some kind of sound sensors? Different from microphones, since they pick up sound waves, which don't exist in the vacuum of space as you pointed out. Something that senses motion that would normally become sound, then recreates that into sound for the pilot.

Also, some of what you are looking for was discussed in this forum: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/user/2041-kytheum/

Try typing "voice", "chat" etc. into the forum search, a few threads came up when I did this, although I haven't read all of them yet.
I realize you weren't necessarily looking for anything related to voices, but it does fall within the realm of sounds that would have a range limit.

Alternatively go a lore route and say that the cockpits or enclosed spaces simulate sounds so as to not hinder the sanity of a pilot or crew or to allow for indicators or something along those lines. There is a few ways around it but there hasn't been an official statement as to how this is going to work.
While realism is nice, I prefer having sound.

Real neat suggestion, coming in three segments. Long post ahead. You've been warned.

    1. PROTECTION BUBBLES SUSCEPTIBLE TO RDMS

I believe it's a very reasonable suggestion. You set it up, therefore, it is meant to be under your control.  You own the Territory, now with the Add-On module, you can protect it from possible threats. The Protection Bubble would also be placed on the epicenter of the Territory, as it would make sense... as it is a bubble.

      2. PROTECTION BUBBLES EMIT PACIFICATION SIGNALS

Welp, the space illuminati can upload data from the Arkship, directly into your head. Tough luck, that can be also used to pacify you within the bubble's dome. An owner of a Territory Claim, can assign who can and cannot use weapons in his claim, heck, build, heck, they can even assign who can enter the Claim to begin with. You try to walk in through the Bubble's force field and you simply can't, as the power of Wi-Fi compels you to not cross the line. The only thing you can do is siege the bubble until it goes down... or...

      3. NINJA H4CK3RZ

Infiltrators. I know many of you just went like "That's so Twerkmotor" but here me for a second. Let's say you assign people in your org to act as a security within the city or have a bank in the city. That bank, would have a reinforced door to its vault. That vault itself, would have guards standing on watch (probably for a high pay wink-wink, nudge-nudge). This form of mechanic can be utilised in different ways, via indirect skill trees.

One, is a Ninja (sort of). A soldier tree player, specialised into Stealthsuit, an insolating wetsuit that has minor protection and damage threshholds against very small caliber weaponry, some minor resistance to energy weapons and an overall paper of an armour. Its only use, is to make you immune to the transmission signa and negate people scanning for your cerebral implant's ID tag that would pop up with your name on it when they scanned you for your name and all that, but it has a minor drawback. You can't get feedback from your squad, therefore get no "buffs" from being in a party, like command bonuses, or cannot even see your own buddies on the minimap that you are in a group with, or any form of group-wide benefit or mechanics. Same player can be specialised into a sniper rifle ( or on a later expansion on swords? Pretty please NQ? ) ... or that soldier may like BBQ and is specialised in some nasty explosives. That way, the very few who specialise into this, can be legit spec ops operatives, who go into a city and sabotage the powerline to the Territory Unit that powers the Protection Bubble itself. Chances of success? Minor at least, anyone with a brain would probably set up a proper set of Blast Doors that lead to the Protection Bubble Element, or the Territory Unit itself. Does it have its uses? Absolutely, you can always sneak into a city and take out the Anti-Air guns before a major siege, or even worse, find your way into a city's Power Plant and let it go super boom. But there's another way to go about it.

Haxxors. A hacker, would not be specialised in heavy weaponry, or high explosives. They are the equivalent of a a tech wizard in the context of the game. They could

a ) make their name seem like they are someone else, which would have to be turned off manually, since they would not be even recognised by their own org's automated systems as a member of the org, so it's not perma name-change. The "illusion" can be taken away, if the Hacker was to be scanned by another hacker, who is specialised on the same field, using the "scan" feature available to all players, only amplified through the skill tree.

b ) they can ignore the hacking signal emitted within the Protection Bubble. They are not a direct fighter, they are there to do very tricky work, like scouting a city for the location of the Resurrection Node or they are there to access your Market Unit and start working their devious market witchcraft of selling WITHIN your market, therfore, sucking away money off your org's circulation. If you see someone acting suspicious, call a counter-intelligence guy to check the guy in the inconspicious black duster coat, sunglasses and vibrant green t-shirt, he's probably a spy. If his name is Hiro Protagonist and you got this referrence, congratulations, you're a turbonerd  .

Now, since I'm obviously clairvoyant, I will answer your apparent questions.

Well, not exactly, I am just advocating for interesting gameplays for people who want to be into security forces and special ops. The real smart hackers will be only caught by real smart counter-intelligence agents in a city.

Dear scared-out-of-your-pants carebear, nobody is gonna kill you that easily. It's a stealthy gameplay. The Stealthsuit will block the player wearing it from SCANNING for your name as well, so even if the Ninja was to be in a city and is after for your bounty, he would have to devise a way of identifying you first. As long as you are not an abnoxious Hello Kitty enthusiast who's going for bright green and bright pink armor combo, you'll be practically not even remotely distinguishable in the group with the "scan for name" mechanism.

As for the Hackers... they are turbo nerds who like code, despite what the Blackhat movie may claim with Australian Thor pretending to be a haxxor. The Hacker in the game has no real chance of taking you out on his own, let alone if the RDMS can dictate you can use weapons as self-defense, with the Hacker being tagged PK-RED when they try to assassinate you.

See? It's not that simple in both cases.

First, STRANGER, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY APARTMENT? Apparently, you must be a Ninja Haxxor as well, because you clearly caught me off-guard with your creeping up to me so stealthily.

    Second, yes.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, if I am to quote Bronn from Game of Throens after his trial by combat for Tyrion Lannister.

Lysa Tully : "You don't fight with honor."

Bronn : "No... but he did" *points at the Moon Gate*.

I guess you don't want to be Bronn, milord Cringeworth, but many of us in the community do. :|

    Probably yes.

Being a clairvoyant is a gift, not a superpower.

Considering space elevators have a lot of challenges that will make them not feasible in this game, I got to thinking why not have an electromagnetic launch pad style element, that propels mobile constructs in a specific direction when powered. This will allow for hover trains, boost pads for hover racing, and a Launch ramp that could allow a ship whout atmospheric flight elements to be launched ino space.

In space these could also be used to allow for long-ish distance AFK travel by having a series of space stations that each propell you to the next, so you can AFK for a couple hours while your ship frictonlessly hurdles through the void to your destination.
