Okay, so single player can maintain around 40 MUs simultaniously, but only 25 construct slots?
So I can't even use the full potantial of my account, that sounds bad for me.

If anyone has read "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson, I think the Metaverse was his idea first (1992).  Stephenson's Metaverse was 3D VR space that people entered via terminals, was complete with digital streets and buildings, animated adverts, etc. run by a company called the Global Multimedia Protocol Group, in a future where everything is a corporate franchise.

After a quick review of the related site content, I think they got the idea from Neal, but are trying to coat-tail on the new godawful tacky iteration of the concept.

I cannot agree with you here.
Like ALL STATIONS are build so the gravity pulls you. I have mine set up so you have the best view. I dont use planet gravity for this and never thought that way.
My space station is kind of cube. But since you can flip space cores, you can land of the sides too! So my base has 5 sides that are flipped and can be landed or walked on. (Thades best views video on YouTube, in the last 20 seconds or so the entire base is in sight so you can get an idea of what I mean)
Maybe you base is flat but mine is not.

You can VR to Meranda Xirsea Store and check the base out yourself and experience how transition between flipped cores are done. Walking down the stairs to another flipped core requires looking down or youll be pushed into space.

Also not adding a small downward thruster to solve your irritation, but choose to be stubborn and complain  (which has taken up more time and energy already than just adding a almost none visible thruster) to me is a strange decision.
If you could add 4x4 for almost no costs or room, why dont you do that?

Try to relax and look at these pics (s & xs core) and try to spot the downward thrusters. (MEX or Meranda Xirsea on DU creators)
And I think you will admit that something this small should not be a problem for any ship builder. Rebuilding a multicore space station is!

This will just create an unpleasant situation where holding constructs hostage with giant dirt piles is the norm.

If the intent of the two-week timer is to give the former owner time to retrieve their stuff, then they should be able to access it.

If that's not the intent, then they should just forget the whole thing, and static cores should be abandoned when a territory is abandoned.   That sounds like a lot more fun than a two-week hostage negotiation.

I always try to be open minded during these updates but each update makes less and less sense. I've been playing this game for quite some time now and the way game currently stands I can't even make fuel. None of my territories have uncommon ore all of a sudden. The only way to find uncommon ore would be to get a new territory but I cant do that because it costs too much. The most basic goal you can have in this game is making fuel and I can't do that. I didn't loose enough from territories you yanked to complain about others lost much more than me but I will say that was a really shitty thing to do to your player base.  The mining calibration is the dumbest thing I've ever witnessed and the only thing worse than that is how often you expect us to do it. The amount of ore we get from these auto miners is sad and the fact that multiple ore types aren't minable from one tile to the next at least in my experience so far. I can only find T1 ore on my tiles and even that is a very small amount. Your updates have one or two good things and the rest are horrible things that out shadow the good things. You made asteroid mining so tedious its not worth doing. Ore needs to be plentiful and its not it never was. 1 mil per tile per week is insane, there's no way I can mine enough to pay for that so its not even sustainable. It's like you put the game in a great recession and I don't get that. If you're trying to flush out single/small group players, I'm pretty sure this is going to work because your making it too difficult to do anything.

Not true, tax is payable on all tiles.  Plus "..if the account in question is unsubscribed.." once the game goes live you may also lose everything.

Imagine, 8 - 10 years of labour in a game - you want to take a break OR you can't afford the sub- and then you get rinsed by tax and lose everything.  Wow, this how to butcher your player base.

I have to agree, but I also sympathize there needs to be an element of decay and a limit to a monopoly in areas by a single Org.

This news felt like a punch in the gut and the thought of losing years of game time and effort to a tax and decay system that is applied with no levels of consideration for player types has to be the worst idea put forward yet.  Orgs aren't going to worry about this if it's actually enforced but solo / casual players won't last long in the game.  In fact I doubt when the game goes live they would even consider playing.

Christ, you play for the tile, you pay a sub... you pay extortionate prices for ships that are any good - not everybody can manage voxels - just doesn't sound like this is going to be any FUN anymore.

I have read this sanctuary so many times now as a choice for all problems. Honestly, have you ever tried to build something on your own tile on Sanktuary? If your neighbours have already built something, your area is extremely small due to the rdms problems and the building distance. Also, there are so many constructs already there that have been sitting around for months and years and are weighing down the balances, if everyone who is now unhappy were to actually move, Sanktuary is unplayable. The huge problem is also that you can't even move the area to avoid this mass. Likewise, you always have the problem of flying, ever crashed on someone else's territory or got stuck in mid-air?
Sanctuary is something for a short beginner's stay, otherwise the players should spread out over the solar system(s). If the players were better distributed, it might also run more stably.

You may believe it or not, but there is a world outside DU. Many players don't want to waste their time following news about the 'game' in the forums or social media. They just login every few weeks to see if there is any progress that would make it worth playing. When they realize that DU is not just developing backwards but that they also lose their assets to the changes, most of them will never log in again (and not even think about renewing their subscriptions).

decom70 reacted to Serula in MU's are compromizing the building system
The whole MU system is starting to burn me out. The problem is that you are implied to use all your charges and not waste any. It's a dopamine trap like many mobile games are. With the current implementation that means you have to calibrate every single day. I experience this as a somewhat stressfull time pressure. Ofcourse I have 3 alts so I have to spend more time on doing all the calibrations. Since the start of Demeter this is pretty much all I've been doing in DU and I didn't spend any time building. It's really difficult for me to ignore the addicting dopamine triggers but I managed to stop picking up all the surface ores because that was an incredible time sink. I really kinda want to stop mining like this all together but that also means no resources unless I go space mining which requires a very expensive scanner on a ship large enough to support it which I don't have yet and I'm also not looking forward to doing that because it's an even bigger time sink before I can start to mine anything. This mining mechanic is in my opinion compromising one of the few good gameplay systems DU has which is the building system.

The simplest solution or at least a better implementation of this system would be to lower the speed at which MU's lose efficiency and also slow the speed at which we get charges so we only have to calibrate every few days or so. That opens up time to do other things.

@anyone: How do you feel about the current state of gathering resources?

    2. Respectfully, go fuck yourself. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA in college and that included Trig, Calc, Linear Algrebra, Geometry etc. all in an advanced and accelerated 4 week course for all topics just listed. Far beyond "basic" math. Not everyone that disagrees with you is stupid either.

    1. Please make HQ tiles 7 vs. 5 so that way if we need to take a break we can maintain a bonus constellation of hexes if we can't be online to mine it for extended period of time. 5 seems like an arbitrary number out of kneejerk response to appease all the players with torches and pitchforks. 7 on the other hand creates a function & aesthetic number of tiles that feels complete, and allows players to take breaks in case you know their parents has cancer, or they lose their job, or both of these things at the same time.... kind of stuff in life.

    2. Make recalibration & drop off after 7 days not 2... (keep the current recharge rates/cap etc.) If I have to login every day to spend my charges, I don't want to do it to nanny the same mining unit I just nannied 48 hours ago, to simply maintain efficiency rates. Some of us can only play on weekends, and work several jobs, so it feels like a punishment for being responsible in real life.

With current shields and CCS mechanics it's encouraging playes to fly on different ships, not as a one big crew.
Because you can have big ship with 40 mil CCS and 20 mil shields for two gunners, or you can have two different ships with 20 mil CCS and 20 mil shields each. (Which would result in more total HP)

As DU is an MMO it should encourage players to fly together as a crew (at least that's how I see MMOs), but that's not the case currently. Will that be changed?

I have to admit i laughed very hard when reading this.
Now just go search the kickstarter info and all the info from alpha and you will see the current version of DU is already a downgraded version of the promise made. Any additional downscaling would be to pull the plug, but since they still hold two offices in not the most cheap locations and have a full staff to think about stuf as mining for 400L per hour is best for DU I would not worry to much, all the latest changes were to cut costs for servers, however it is called, added more monthly pay per person, so the future is bright. except not for the features in DU. The only people who will like these changes are those who exploided to the max and were never handled.
At launch we are all to get 3 alts per character, probably that is the next thing killed. Organizational owned Territories was the latest although its not called that way, a million tax a week is effectively killing all small organizational claims.
Downsizing is well underway, do not be mistaken.
