Kurock got a reaction from CyberCrunch in Alpha Roadmap AMA Questions
For some, the biggest disappointment about the roadmap announcement was the NDA being extended to cover all the Alphas. While it is clear that it was a difficult decision to make, could you elaborate on the reasons for extending the NDA? Could you elaborate on the galaxy that will be available in beta? How many star systems will players have access to? Will there be faster modes of travel, such as warp engines, so that players can get there? Will the star maps be implemented by this time? Will we see volumetric clouds (such as those shown in that first E3 video)? If so, will it be before release? Is there any progress on rotating planets? Are these still in the works? Where can community member send their user generated content, such as videos and screenshots? Are there any guidelines which may make it more likely for their content to be accepted and used as advertising for Dual Universe? -

Kurock reacted to yamamushi in Alpha Roadmap AMA Questions
I figured since an upcoming AMA was mentioned in the video that was released yesterday, I thought it would be useful to start a thread to collect questions people have for JC about Alpha, the roadmap, etc.
I suppose I'll start by listing a few questions I have...
The roadmap doesn't make any mention of server uptime. When can we expect the servers to be up for extended periods of time? (24/7 even) Is this something that we can expect during a specific phase of Alpha? Is the NDA firm for all of Alpha, or is there a possibility that the NDA may be lifted before Beta starts? Can we expect server uptime during the winter holiday season this year? Is there a clue of sorts hidden in one of the videos that were recently published? Where can we get one of those sweet Dual Universe jackets? -
Kurock reacted to 0something0 in DUIT: Dual Universe Initiative for Technology/ HEF: One Year On...
More then a year ago, me and some other members of the community including @yamamushi made an organization committed to push the limits of Dual Universe, formerly known as Hyper Endeavor Foundation. However, nothing really much happened. School started and the DU hype train has slowed down considerably with the NDA still in place. But fear not, as I am still alive! Looking back, I thought HEF sounded kinda cringy so I rebranded the organization. Now, we are ready for re-launch!

As time passes, I erase things, because sic transit; a few go to the Previous page, most don't, but everything stays in my offline archives so feel free to ask if you have a question; all I ask for is that you correct any mistake you can spot.

Kurock got a reaction from STEALTH7 in What makes this game stand out?
This kind of misses the point. This is an sandbox MMO. The "end goal" is what you decide it to be. Many people can't/won't/prefer not to decide that for themselves which is why theme-park MMO's exist.
The people that build the sandcastles are not necessarily the same people that kick them over. If a place can be attacked it will be. (Allowance has been made for those builders that just want to build their own buildings on sanctuary moons and safe zones, but these areas have no resources so someone still has got to go out there.)
And that is fine. DU is *not* for everyone. If someone says a specific game is for everyone I will show you a liar. Perhaps you prefer tough survival games like the Stalker series. DU won't scratch that itch. Others may like fast-paced FPS games. DU won't scratch that itch to the same degree either. I could start pointing at all the features in DU that don't exist in EGS but this is futile if those features are not what you are looking for.
What DU offers, among others, is exploration, mining, manufacture, construction, PvP combat, trade, politics and boat loads of voxels all in a neat single shard MMO box.
My point is, look at what DU is and decide for yourself whether this is the game you are looking for. No one on some forums can decide for you.
Edit: Forgot trade. Mustn't forget trade.

Kurock got a reaction from Bambino in In-game voice.
I would like to see this happen because it is immersive as all hell, though realistically I see it working on more of a opt in channel basis rather than a passive "hear everyone around you" type of thing. This could be extended to have elements that create a secure communication channel for those interacting with it.
This would be great not only for simple 1-on-1 chats and political discussions but also in-game concerts.
While very nice to have, because there are workarounds like Discord, I don't see this happening till after release if at all.

Kurock got a reaction from SimonVolcanov in Kill reports
I hope not. Kill boards advertise that the game is all about killing. If there are kill boards then there should also be "best build" boards, exploration boards, manufacturer boards, and mining boards.
DU is not EVE. It should being DUing it's own thing, not making an EVE 2.0.

Kurock got a reaction from Ben Fargo in Territories for landing
Outside of the safe zones, guns solve this problem.
Inside the safe zones, that is not an option and covering offenders in dirt leaves unsightly dirt piles. A "kick" option, to randomly move the offending ship out of your territory may be the simplest solution imo. Though I would be happy with sticking it in an underground hanger with a huge wheel clamp and a massive fine

Kurock reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Territories for landing
Hi everyone,
Preventing a construct to enter a specific space is a sensible topic as it could be abused the other way (like imprisoning constructs).
While we are aware that giving total freedom on landing anywhere could lead to griefing behavior (especially in Safe Zones where it won't be possible to destroy Constructs having for sole/main purpose to annoy other players, due to the "no PVP" rule), we don't think preventing a Construct to enter a specific space is the right approach. We are currently considering less extreme alternatives that would discourage griefing behavior. These alternatives could define in which case countermeasures can be triggered if visitors don't abide by the rules set on said territory. This will be most likely tied to Territory Units. This topic will be developed further at a later stage of the game development.
Best Regards,
Nyzaltar.
