Zarcain reacted to RugesV in need more PvP. turn it on everywhere for test
You dont need to test this. I can already tell you what will happen.  First off, hardcore players will move all there assets to sanctuary. PVPers and trollers and pirates will spend all there time destroying everything that is left behind.  Anyone that did not move there stuff, and got destroyed would leave the game. The pvpers/trollers/pirates would have a great month or so of wiping all the planets. then they too would begin to leave the game as they ran out of targets.  Miners would leave the game as they can no longer automine on planets, they could get away with astroid mining while the pvpers are buisy wiping the planets. but as planets become ghost towns asteroids would then become camped too. So most miners would leave the game. This would result in industrialist leaving the game as they can no longer get the resources to make things. And finally builders would leave the game as noone is there to buy or look at the stuff they build.

It would not die off completely as there would always be hardcore players in each field to play the game.  However the question becomes does NQ make enough money off these players to keep the servers running. Let alone develop/fix new/old content.

    Hey guys.

Sometimes my base (and everything else) just straight up isn't there. Literally happening as I type this.
Too often I fly somewhere and then my ship teleports itself home leaving me stranded.
It takes 10 steps (in the exact right order) to target and fire at a ship in pvp, and...
My adversaries ship is likely to desynch teleport itself 1 su away while I'm shooting at it.
I landed on a stationary ship in space today and then exited my ship and the formerly stationary ship was suddenly going 20,000 kph.
I can't run a mission with a friend because we almost certainly will not have the same one.
When I turn on my radar, all I can see is a sea of construct names stretching to the horizon, usually obscuring my destination.

The game is in the most unplayable state I've ever seen it, and you guys are going to have us invite people to play. That's like taking a giant sh!t on your coffee table and then inviting the neighbors over to watch television.

Kudos on the foliage makeover tho...

I hope this feedback helped. ❤️

Please keep it about the next patch. As much as we'd all love to continue talking about the wipe, this is not the right thread.

I will attempt to give a better picture regarding blueprints, what I can confirm is that in the event of a reset you will keep:
Any Core Blueprints in your Nanopack. Any Core Blueprints inside Packages in your Nanopack. Any Core Blueprints inside Containers on constructs in your personal ownership. Any Core Blueprints inside Packages inside Containers on constructs in your personal ownership. If you're the Super Legate of an organization you will also receive:
Any Core Blueprints inside Containers on constructs in the organizations ownership. Any Core Blueprints inside Packages inside Containers on constructs in the organizations ownership. I hope this clarifies it a little bit.

    agreed
creating ships and buildings is the strongest aspect of this game and pvp is the weakest.
i was shocked when i saw the first pvp video on youtube, a clean 0/10 from me. i feel like only atmospheric combat around planets has potential. i would even like on foot combat like starbase has but this space combat over huge distances is the most boring "pvp" i have ever seen.

This game was fine as a sandbox building game, kind of a big empty LEGO world.
Lego builders dont need entertainment or gameplay, they just enjoy builds. Cities skylines players also just like builds, they like to just follow an npc and just look around.
Train-set builders also do nothing but to watch their builds.
I think this game would attract so many builders from every corner around the world, that it would always have enough ingame players, and maybe not too many at once as some would always take a break.

Too bad nq didn't focus on the building/trading part and give us more things to build and trade with.
They gave us a false start with unrealistic sized doors, couches and beds, 3 types of toilets, the most useless empty plantcase and no xs space fueltank. Also crazy core sizes which make no sense to me, why 63(127-255-511) voxels and not 64 (128-256-512)?
Instead of adding more types of wings, doors, cockpits, trees, npc elements (ive made these myself with voxels later on, even made them interactive with detection zones and transparent screens), nq cut down on builders.
There is lua for ships on water, something nq should have implemented themselves. I know for sure people would start digging canals (because of the ugly random generated planet with puddles) and just sail on them for fun. Videos of ingame builds would flood the tube channels.
The builders needed more things to easily make quests so we could make more adventures, to aquire items to open doors in mazes and labyrinths. Now it was only possible in lua.
I think, that players would subscribe just to see the amazing world that has been build by players.

Nq could have focused on building(what this game started with). Expanding the game with the lua-ideas, just like other games implemented mods from the community, and adding elements that have a proper function.
But nq focused on destroying. Pvp, limiting and wiping that is.
And now you are here, a full wipe (so no world) and a few players.

    Pvp bashing by me:
Pvp in this game is the fugliest version of space combat i have ever seen, even space invaders is more dynamic, at least you can dodge in space invaders! Territory warfare in this game would be just as ugly, boring and untactical as spacewar in this game is. You cant hide behind an asteroid, so why would you be able to hide behind a hill?
Pvp in this state kicks out the creativity of building.
Pvp in this game reminds me of those old atari 5600 games, where the box art was nowhere near the ingame screenshots or the gameplay.
Tactics do not exist in this game.

In the end, I am sure that this game had more potential for a sandbox building game, than a pvp game.
But hey, nq is trying to proof me wrong, so ill keep an eye out.

They got rid of $10 for 3 months? why?  $10 a month? only temporary? Is this game releasing with $15 a month??  There isn't $15 a month worth of content, there isn't $10 a month worth of content.
What a complete disaster this all is.  The voxel building, industry(before schematics), and flight are so good.  But everything else is so off the mark.  It seems so far behind of even the most basic games.  I feel like this game is like a stillborn birth.. there will be a game, but it's dead... the poor thing is already dead.

NQ's wipe is like: someone you love but everytime you ask him/her to start a relationship he/she says 'I dont know'.  Asking every day for a month and still: I dont know...
Can we just date, can we just be friends on Facebook? I dont know...

So the thing imma trying to say is how lots of (ex)players are acting on this forum. Its almost pathetic to read and see.

Dont you guys get the message??? Make up your minds and continue with your lives!

    No means no!!

I myself renewed my sub in January, 8 days later the pancake-wipe update was introduced to me and I instantly quit. I am a grown man over my 40s and I do not fool around. The deathmeter-wipe put me on the edge and the pancake-wipe pushed me over.

I wish all the ppl who play and who dont play lots of fun, but people please.... Be a sensible adult and quit being stubborn.

There is a big difference between "continue to update the  game" and "try and keep building the base game". If anything, the latter is what NQ will be doing for a few more yeras at least at the pace they keep.

But yeah.. They wil no doubt play the "it's an MMO and an MMO is never finished" and completely bypass that they pushe what effectivelu is an Alpha game to "release".. If they even keep their commitments with regards to game mechaincs and features, a number of those still need to even be started and several of those will massively disrupt the game ..

.....oh, wait. We're in Beta already.

As much as I love this game, I too have a very hard time seeing this being launched as a complete game.

If you're a subscription beta key player you'll have lost most things that weren't on Sanctuary.

If you're a free-beta-key player you should still have all dynamic constructs and up to 5 territory (personally owned) tiles on planets with static constructs on it. (Org owned tiles will be gone.) Outside of these tiles you will have lost your tiles and any constructs on them. Space constructs should still be ok. Everything on Sanctuary will still be ok.

Fix the game and wipe it out! Not wiping it out only maintains the terrible imbalance that is created by the broken game!

I am always open to coming back to DU, but that is only after they fixed it! I can say that this game have a potential to be a viable game after assessing the available and upcoming MMOs!

Right now, I am playing nothing because I am disappointed on the quality of MMOs (especially on their lack of contents). Due to the terrible and deteriorating state of our genre, DU stands a chance in the market, only if they will get the game fixed! A game that is fixed is worth a second go!

Zarcain reacted to blazemonger in [Poll] wipe or no wipe
A poll on the wipe is meaningless as NQ has made the decision some time ago and it's really hard to not expect to see that wipe happening for a number of pretty obvious business reasons.

For one, not announcing a "no wipe" makes no sense at all which points to a wipe coming. Effectively, most of us who are in favour of a wipe will not agree to it not happening but would not threaten to "leave the game" because of it. That said, a majority of "no wipe" campers are just making empty threats I am sure and will stay on with the rest of us when the wipe happens. So, if a no wipe was decided there really is nothing that would make sense to not announce it well in advance

The game being reset just prior to launch makes sense at it is a justifiable expectation for incoming players AT LAUNCH to enter a cleared world and not the massive mess we see now i many placed.

Then, the expiring beta keys will need to see their assets removed from game for one and NQ will seek opportunity to incentivise these accounts to convert to a subscription. A wipe and head-start is a good tool for that.

The notion that abandonment will fix the above really is not justified, it will only mean that some players will have a massive lead going into launch which also goes back to the first point. And no, this is not the same as resetting each year after launch..

NQ really has only once said there would not be further wipes in a press release around beta, every single comment or indication around this has left a wipe squarely on the table.

I can see one possible reason for NQ to hold back on the no wipe and that is they may be trying to get the new planet design into the game at launch, that would guarantee the need for a wipe and they may want to be sure they can/can't add that for launch before making the announcement.

Anyway, a wipe would not be a full one as prior to beta because that is not something NQ can do as they have started charging players for access and they can’t take specifically the accrued talent points away so these will go back to the pool.

Finally, “a level playing field” is not an argument or issue here. Too many try and pull that in to dismiss the wipe. This is not about that at all as even on a full wipe, the pre-launch players will have a massive advantage over new players and the talent points will only seriously amplify that.
