Sadly I wouldn't assume anything at this point. I really don't want to go back to ED, as it has glaring issues of its own, but the way this beta has gone that's where I'll be come the 29th. I'll just keep collecting a welfare check and curating my talents in hopes that a savior patch will come, as .24 is not it.

The fact that space cores in PvP space are vulnerable 24/7 seems rather silly. I am a PvP enthusiast and even then it sounds completely unreasonable. Territory warfare won't work that way, why should space cores?

That's a whole lotta words just to say you got your feelings hurt in chat.

People are quitting this game because the gameplay is garbage right now, not because their opinions are getting slammed by fanboys in the support channel.

They're too small brain to understand simple things and concepts. It's like, "hey guys, this is NQ, we are releasing territory warfare in the outer planets!!" Player A then claims a territory in pvp zone. Player B attacks them and takes over their territory. Player A now calls player B a "griefer" because he harrassed him.

So according to these fucking idiots, killing someone in a counter strike match is griefing.  Well ya know what, every ore you mine Is griefing because I wanted that ore. Every territory you claim in the safe zone is griefing because I wanted my base their. And so on and so forth.

if such a construct is in the pvp zone, it's not griefing tho - it may be rude and it may piss ppl off but it's fair game and certainly not griefing.

You dont know what the word griefing is, so stop using it. Maybe english is your second language and if that's the case I'll ease up a bit on you.

You know someone attacking a territory in a pvp zone specifically built for territory warfare isn't a "griefer". I swear to fucking christ the dumbest mother fuckers come to these forums.

Musclethorpe reacted to joaocordeiro in Would you like to see mobile NPCs in the game?
The issue is how do avatar NPCs navigate inside dynamic voxel constructs.
How would dynamic npc constructs keep fighting effectively against a infinite combination of player constructs even after being damaged.

And mainly how to make this lack of intelligence not exploitable by players.

I can imagine a group of players figuring out a combination of voxels that would bug the npcs. Making then passive targets.

A simple hole in the ground made by a mining tunnel can be hell to a noob with a speeder. Imagina how many npcs would just fall into a simple hole and just die there.

No man's sky does not have to deal with this dynamism

Actually, I wonder what your problem is now?

Everyone knew from the beginning, when the Kickstarter campaign started, that it was going to be rough. To quote the video:
"However, if you chose to cross the limit, you gonna have to start being careful. And you better know what you're doing."

Here is the link (with timestamp) to the video from the KS campaign 2016: https://youtu.be/TyWZsuLmloo?t=524

We have had many discussions here in the forum about carebear, EVE comparisons, PvP content issues and whatnot. Feel free to search those out over the last 4 1/2 years, there are plenty of them. But I'm not doing your homework.

PvP will never be fair. There will always be situations where you are outnumbered. There will be situations where you are hunted by pirates for fun because you are a high value target just to annoy you.(Everything that is allowed according to ToS and EULA in the game, not outside, of course) In EVE as an example it is common that you become a target of something.  But that's not the fault of the players, it's the game field that gives NQ here. In WoW as another example, they roamed as a group and hunted everyone.

If you want to change the playing field now, then you have a problem: the players who made the game possible in the first place with the pledge gave money for a very specific reason. This is no longer the case, when the game changes from Kickstarter vision. And there are only two possibilities: Implement or Refund.

But to stay with your ridiculous seal clubbing example:
What's wrong with standing up to the attackers and looking for like-minded people? Why not fight back, why not form a society that frees itself from all violence and wants to create a PvP-free zone on the tiles? In principle, then, do exactly what Dual Universe should be. A game that encourages cooperation.

Do you know how the pirates in the Caribbean became a thing of the past? Merchants armed themselves, bigger ships accompanied the convoy. Something you could also do, hire a mercenary organisation to accompany you. Instead, you want to go on your solo trip and see yourself as a victim here.

I wouldn't call this "piracy" at all. Basically it's PvP with looting. Piracy would require me to have some tools to coerce cargo/money from people without having to kill them. As it stands I can barely text chat a threat to some one, and even if I could how would I get anything from them? This game has a LONG ways to go if we want real piracy. Disabling tools, a way to forcibly board ships and break containers without having to pew pew everything to bits first. You know, finesse type stuff.

First off, there is a lot of "Me" in your post. While DU is perfectly playable as a solo player, without the support of an org and other people in it to join forces with when needed your options will be limited, yes. DU is not a game that is geared towards a Solo person achieving everything by themselves.

You find that mega node? Drop a Territory Unit, it's yours and no one can touch it. 7 days after you put the TU down, it can be taken off the tile again and reused elsewhere. In EVE, you go on holidays and someone else drops a citadel near that belt and kills you as soon as you get back to it as they have claimed it for themselves. That belt may also move or next respawn it's contents may not be as rich as previously.

Progression continues as you are offline, your talents keep training and Industry keeps producing, no need for you to be there. And here again, when playing with friends you can divide time up between the group and when you get back on, all the stuff you need wil be there, ready to go.

Frankly, it's all a matter of perspective. You seem to be looking at all this through a lens which from the get go is colored by your opinion of other games and you also seem to be looking through it from a single player experience. All of that is fine, if another game suits you better then go for it but that doe snot make your argument valid beyond the fact you prefer mechanics in other games. There is a lot that needs to get better in DU but you need to keep in mind that a lot of the game mechanics are yet to get in and existing mechanics will go through iterations over the next year or two. It's really not fair to compare to games that have been around for decades.

You hope the game turns in to something you like while it sounds to me you have expectations for the game which were not based on what is in, has been announced or is being worked on but what you like in other games. so without this meant to be negative in any way.. go play those other games you do like.. no shame in that and perfectly fine if DU is not for you.

I am a space pirate with an extensive history of wealth redistribution.

Rumors of space riches beyond my wildest dreams, ready for the taking.

I would love any information on if there are any future plans for Space Cores/Stations in regards to defense. What I mean by this is, as it stands, they operate very much like a territory (base of operations) yet receive none of the protections. As I am to understand, unless it is built inside of the safe zone, it is vulnerable 24-7. With the safe zone ultimately being the minority of the play-space, surely it is unreasonable to expect a station to be staffed/defended at all times. Or are they all expected to be built within non-pvp space?

I am not looking for any hard answers, perhaps just a statement that this is not the end design/intention. Thanks!

While both rockets and the AGG can be used to accomplish one type of goal, they don't do the same thing. Rockets can provide thrust in any direction, in any environment.

A large rocket connected to a full large tank will fire for 84s with default skills. M rocket with M tank, 65s, and S rocket with S tank, 30s. Rocket engines can be connected to dissimilar tank sizes, too.

With even level 3 rocket fuel/booster skills, this changes to 99s for a large rocket + large tank, and with maxed skills (booster fuel tank handling and rocket fuel efficiency), one gets 168s of large rocket burn time.

Not sure where you got 15 seconds.

Musclethorpe reacted to blazemonger in VoIP implementation
For a number of reasons, RP opportunity for one, it would be really good for DU to have VoIP available. Based on the current state of development it should not take much to implement a 3rd party solution quickly and fairly easily.

VoIP should always be optional. While many would like to use it and it will certainly attract players from the RP communities (where many are _really_ looking for a good SciFi themed RP opportunity). Here is how I could see this option implemented:

In settings, by default VoIP is inactive, it should be an opt-in feature. The VoIP solution would easily slot into the current way chat is working. players will have local, construct or private channel access, depending on whether they have enable VoIP. Right clicking a player would show a "muted" icon next to the talk option indicating this player has VoIP disabled and will not be able to hear you if you start a conversation so chat needs to be used.
An obvious option here would be Vivox which is both well known, inexpensive and easy to implement.

This would be a very welcome addition to the game, attract new players and generally improve QoL for many players. It  would be good to learn how NQ feels about this without simply referring to the upvote page as this is more about expanding the potential userbase and not cater to existing players (even when many will welcome it).

I realize this thing destroys modules, but if they were to be repaired beforehand (something I would have to do anyway), this device should save me the trouble of reprinting my ship from a blueprint every time I take heavy voxel damage.

My questions are, how does it function exactly in regards to its placement, and the "snapshot" the description refers to. Does it need to be on the ship, or can it be on a static construct acting as a sort of repair shop? If it doesn't need to be on the ship, can it repair more than one? Does it require a databank? How big is it in comparison to, say, a Territory Scanner?
