Hell no, you guys keep sacrificing pve for pvp.
Please return HC weight to a more realistic level and add that resist and EHP to cores instead.

It's heartbreaking to see how hard NQ is trying to make it better, by implementing new and weird solutions.

Its been a while, and I didn't realize that you no longer mine up voxels? o.O Wasn't the whole mining thing a big part of the game? So your saying folks just set up auto miners on the surface and then go collect the stuff periodically? I guess their voxel system is more broken and limited than I thought, as mining was one of the more enjoyable things I liked, hunting down ores deposits, creating data pads with results, selling those to the market.

How is it that you can get the message that the crafting system you implemented that had so many players stop playing because of how restrictive it was and how the barrier to entry was too high and decide the solution is to take the prohibitive system you have and then TIME GATE that construction process?

Like lets look at FUEL. A ship needs 10kL of fuel to fill a tank, each 100L of fuel needs 1h to create the schematic and around 3h of pures schematics to produce the hydrogen and fuel metals needed to craft that 100L of fuel. So we are looking at ~100h of timers to be able to fill a fuel tank which will run out in less than an hour of active flying.

How does this system make the game more accessible or more enjoyable? What purpose is this system supposed to serve? When is the game going to "find the fun" it spoke of rather than just continuing to make every system that is actually implemented more and more tedious and restrictive?

This is one of the most stupid broken mechanics I've seen NQ not only suggest, but apparently they also have implemented it, and knowing how arrogant they are they ABSOLUTELY won't accept that it's a stupid idea, even with tons of feedback here in the forums, but will push it into production.

NQ managed to make Schematics even worse than they already were, and are in the way of making this game a completely "not-a-sandbox" game, by trying to shape their "player-driven" game and economy their own way.

Please, if there's one thing I *hope* NQ employees listen is how stupid this change is going to be, specially by making consumables something you need to go and get individual Schematics for. I'm sure this will be yet another exodus of players, and this time not only I'll leave with them, but I'll make sure to spread the word on how broken this game has became and how NQ clearly doesn't care about the player base, but just about making alt-exploitable (P2W) mechanics.

    So much for this game...

    just kill npc missions.

why have npc missions but no npc ships.....

make your mind up and be a sandbox or not. make content so players can add content, for all sake if you cannot, add the possibility to propose mods.

you limit everything a solo player can do but add npc missions? Why!

That this game is dying is not because of the players or a possible wipe or not wipe. The game is dying because of NQ's policies and rowing back and forth with no real plan of where to go.
The game is dying because there don't seem to be enough customers attracted and engaged by the content in the game to fill their valuable free time with DualUniverse.
The game will not get better with a wipe or by taking away earned items and values in the game. It will just get emptier, and the planets or moons aren't even designed to be lively or interesting. I think that many of the new players will stay for 1-3 months and then leave the game again.
You just have to look at the game market, what is offered to you there in terms of leisure activities. Value for money is a magic word, but so is exactly what you get for your free time. The standard gamer comes home after work/school/training and has limited time to recover and play....

Two reasons, people will quit the game and it will destroy the history which has built up over the last 2 years.

I have a ship which once carried Thoramine, a ship which was first to find one of the event ships in the ship hunt, a ship I built in the first 2 weeks which I used to make by first billion quanta before 0.23 broke the market gameplay (and modded over time, learning to make it better as I did so), a massive ship with 60 EXL containers I stole during the first set of requisitons and various other things I'm attached to.  None of it is going to give me any particular level of advantage, but it's all history which I like.  I certainly won't be rebuilding any of it after a wipe - most of it doesn't even fly any more  because of the broken stacked element thing.

So for me a wipe is just getting rid of all the things which happened over the last 2 years of playing.  I'm not particularly interested in starting from scratch, particularly since the gameplay loops are less interesting now, the game lacks that feeling of discovery a second time around and the feeling of bootstrapping is, IMO, broken since planet mining was taken out.

My main reaction to this blog is that for someone who is "so busy that we must prioritize every feature" there is not much happening with the ACTUAL game.
And I am not talking about just now, but since forever.

This update made all my L core ships seem a lot heavier    It feel slow, sluggish and boring!  I liked the whole way much better.  I dont mind having the XS and S core go much faster but why make it so boring to pilot heavy ships? especially with a 20000 km/h speed limit   im pretty disappointed about that!

And I'm thinking that having a serious discussion about a possible 2 years from now is foolish when the next couple of months are going to make or break the game/company. The game when it launched in beta isn't the same game as it is now, and that was a year and a half ago. I expect big changes/additions post release, not right away, but over the next two years. Discussing the game when we don't know how it will look in 2 years is an exercise in futility. I expect power management to be added, changes to asteroids, new things to build and build for, some form of planetary conflict on the outer planets, XL cores, etc. With such changes I can list ten things from the top of my head, how that will change the current systems drastically.

As for the Schematics discussion, there was already significant infrastructure and quanta in place when things changed. This will not be the case at the moment, that will make things incredibly hard, maybe hard enough that people won't want to play DU or quickly stop playing DU after a month or so... I did some quick calculations with and without Schematics when starting from zero and you need a ton of quanta quickly, due to Schematics. With the assumption of having to do missions that was quite a bit of missioning to do right of the bat, with a high probability of having massive T1 NPC buy orders, that might be hugely mitigated by selling ores to NPCs...

No one said they needed tunnels to mine, either....the most important aspect of mining (to me) is that it gets players moving across the system searching for ore. Exploration is a good thing.

The actual process of digging through the planet...I could take it or leave it.

They could have a mining mechanic that doesn't involve actual digging -- like maybe you fire some sort of sensor probe and the goal is to pinpoint the node. Then your ship automatically extracts the ore once located.

Then having a mining-specialized ship would be a thing (e.g. more or better probes or faster extraction) -- without the cost of terrain deformation.

Not saying it's the best idea, but my point is that there's a lot of room between pulling ore out of the earth and eliminating a huge pillar of active gameplay with timers and a silly mini-game.

Yes, the cost is the topic, -
That is why it is so good to just fill the tunnels with soil a week after tunnels were made ...
At the moment we are in the same situation, -- if everyone goes to ground and dig tunnels, they will stay there forever.
    that is consuming space.

But if tunnels are get filled with soil authomatically once a week ( if a player don't "mark" them as "in use" ), - that will solve the issues with ore and tunnels.

Riiight? I think this will hurt them more than is obvious right now. It makes building more convenient in a lot of ways, but overall it reduces the engagement of the game.

Once you have some AMs set up, mining is basically a "watch the paint dry" feature. Just like slowboating. Just like training talents. Just like waiting for asteroids to spawn.

When so many features in your game rely on waiting around doing nothing, that's just not a good design.

Sure, but that is just classic NQ taking the easy way out. There are many more elegant ways they could have solved the scaling problem, and kept the mining etc. But that would have required some work on NQ's part.

Du is no longer the "make you own game" MMO, and instead we now have NQ who is hand feeding us very specific ways that we must play the game.
For example they are now using the old mining system as a higher tier incentive where everything is stacked so that the PvP crowd get some involuntary victims to shoot at.

I.e NQ is saying either get involved in PvP (asteroid mining or missions), or learn to live with pocket change money given out by the mining bots.
And while I have no problem with risk-vs-reward systems, you cannot just decrease the non PvP income factor by something like 1/100 in a building game and call it a day.

Zireaa reacted to Honvik in Voxel and Venting : What does the Game Design team think ?
100%.  So with Athena update I did think 'Well we will need siege ships' mainly for attacking Alien cores but the result of that would be any defenders who are more mobile, easier to turn would eat that L core up fast because CCS is still poor and even voxel HP overall is still poor.  What I thought with their 'fix announced' on the calculations that CCS/HP would perhaps be tweaked so voxel is more effective especially considering weapons damage overall has drastically increased with previous updates.  I think I envisioned even in a fleet fight there would be 'tanks/capitol ships', then the rest.  It is still lending itself to even smaller ships than M cores now for speed but equally they can still do a reasonable amount of DPS.

Point i'm making is you should be rewarded for using Voxel armour not hindered by weight CCS etc'
