No support on discord makes a little sense since it gets so hectic in there, but no GM in the game?!  In a subscription-based game in alpha beta?  Wow.

Tried it on a whim and I managed to log in, much to my surprise.
Unfortunately, I last logged out looking at an unfinished ship prototype, and the thought of not being able to put any work into it any time soon (without having to mine my life away or having to become an in-game corporate employee) took the wind right out of my sails, so I shut it down pretty quick.

It still boggles the mind how, with the plethora of choices that can drive human interaction in an online game to chose from, someone actually thought the best way to get people to work together was to emulate the worst aspect of daily life: working for the man!

    Go figure.

If only.  I was SO disappointed when I saw the talents system.   I'm used to working for my skills and prefer it that way.  You can speed it up if I you work harder and every chop of a tree brings you closer to GM so it's not so mind numbingly boring to tend to.  With this system you have to wait, no matter what you do or how much you mine.  Its just a time sink and IMO the lazy way to do it.

I never said I never knew. I was one of the ones who constantly advocated against it back when I still thought the devs might be listening.  What I said was that I was SO disappointed when I saw it.  Not only was it the most boring way to do it, but it was poorly executed and has done nothing but get worse ever since.

I'm pretty sure ATV had very little influence on 0.23.. They probably got the patch a week in advance and any feedback was too little too late as the release data was already set, NQ was probably already moving past the patch internally, only to be yanked back after the game imploded following the rollout..

The sell of bugged schematics has begun...

@NQ How it is supposed to balance that in the future? that is not the only bugged price schematic out there. as seen on another screenshot he holds over 100 of warp beacon xl schematics........

I predict that the mission system will just be an interface for what we are already doing (and probably a buggy one).  Mine and get paid, but less than you would if you just mined it yourself and sold it on the market.  Or maybe hauling stuff, which is VERY expensive to do.  There are only a few rich orgs who can afford to pay what it costs to do it and so far those guys hold all the cards so we will probably be hauling at a loss.

Like this great deal I was once offered...

A well known rich org offered me the opportunity of  using one of their haulers (after a hefty deposit) to deliver their stuff for free so I could maybe use that hauler for other jobs.  And even worse, that ship ended up having to be reworked because it couldn't even do the job.  What they really wanted was free testers and free deliveries. I already have an org full of haulers.  I have one of the BEST ship builders in the game in my org. What I don't have is people who want to actually pay me enough to make any kind of a profit to haul anything.

I doubt an interface to make the same kinds of deals with the same kinds of uber rich orgs will change much.  One way or another we are all destined to be slaves to those who cheat and exploit the system (and/or our fellow players) so they can just sit back and build whatever they want without having to lift a finger.

I already live in that world.  Not gonna play a game that wants to put me through the same thing in my free time.  I've about given up tbh.

Dhara reacted to bleakcon in NQ Your lack of action regarding the schematic fiasco is disturbing
If they have the necessary metadata, part of my little essay questioned whether they have. This is why this is so disturbing, it transcends the event itself and gives us an unsettling insight into what is and is not possible, obviously the decision making speaks for itself but that is damned disturbing too.

This isn't a game issue, this is a company issue and that is worse in my opinion.

What baffles me is the apparent lack of ability/willingness to just undo those transactions.  Remove the schematics purchased at an incorrect price, refund the money spent on said schematics to the purchaser.
It would have taken less than 10 minutes to write a query to identify the transactions that occurred in that time frame.
    it isn't that hard.
spend a little more time, and it's even possible to write a query to follow all subsequent transactions, and do a removal/refund for those too.

Why is this such a hard thing to fix?  Just find those purchases in the database, refund the money to the player, and remove the schematics.  It might be too late by now, players may have already made millions selling them off.  But if they REALLY cared about the economy as much as they say they do, they could find out who bought one and reverse that purchase as well.

The only thing that saves this burning dumpster fire besides removing all ill gotten schematics or a rollback is to flat come out now and say there will be a full wipe before release. Seriously NQ, you need to own this one way or the other. Either tell us all it doesn't matter cause it's all getting nuked downed the road anyway, or act like professionals and fix it.

Ok don't take this too seriously but a guildmate a while back provided a possibly answer as to why NQ has NOT ever in any way rolled back to "previous backups"........they simply can't.  Because more than once it would have Made WAAAAAY more sense to rollback a day or a few hours in order to fix a humongous issue caused by a hotfix/patch.  There is a mind boggling amount of data going back and forth between the client and servers, hourly.   A "complete backup" of all game data and player data may simply not exist.  The game itself at current patch, sure.  But all the player data and state of the universe.  Possibly not.

NQ may simply not be able to do it.  At least not yet.  They can obviously track and make changes to market trades, as we got a refund on schematics.  So they could probably nix all the schematics bought for certain ticket items at a time.  A reverse of what they did last time with the schematics price drop and refund.  But they would have done so by now, and they havent.  Which is worrisome into itself.

If they were smart, then every schematic purchased would have a timestamp and ID of the purchase event. That way it would be very easy to pick out a window of time that a schematic has changed hands. I can't imagine that anyone would try to implement an economy that is so important to the game without double-entry bookkeeping.

Any database developer that knows SQL could have identified the faulty transactions with an hour or two of labor. Really, there is no excuse not to invalidate those transactions or drop a negative balance on those accounts if the money is gone.

No need for a rollback. Just a few hours of following the money trail. Seems like that would be worth keeping the trust of many players, wouldn't you say?

At least tell us which schematics and how many were purchased for almost free so the poor fools that are industrialists won't spend the money on those. Tell us which elements are tainted so we don't end up competing against somebody that has 100x more industrial capacity to build them. Or just take those schematics off the market. Do something!

I just spent the last two hours watching videos of upcoming space MMO's for 2021 on youtube. The DU concept still could have the best future, now if NQ could only stop screwing up..
