Haunty reacted to Delizin in Flatten Tool Should Be Able to Deposit Soils
Just like the mining tool is able to deposit soil by using the alternative mode (alt+lmb), the flatten tool should have a similar functionality.

Anyone who has leveled an entire tile with a significant height difference knows just how time consuming it can be. Right now you need to mine out or flatten all of the high spots, then you need to fill in low spots then go back over them with the flatten tool. All of that is much easier said than done and it has you going over the same area numerous times.

Let the flatten tool deposit soil by holding the alt key while setting the height then if you hover over a tile where there isn't enough voxels to lift up to surface height, it can fill in using soil voxels up to a maximum distance below the selected height.

I try to let people know, but mining high tier ore on moons is a waste of time even after a fresh reset.  They are crazy rare.  Almost all the veterans know that.  If you are looking for a specific ore thats T2 ore above, its always better to go to a planet that has it.  ALWAYS.  Its a trap some new people fall into.  "oh man i have to travel 3 hours to go mine gold?....wait there is some on this moon!"

Haunty reacted to Collider in Cleaning up the Districts
In our organization's Teamspeak we have often discussed possibilities to remove "clutter" on and near the District landing pads.

Here a suggestion how this could work:

When a dynamic core is "parked" near the district for too long (more than 24 hours) it should be "towed" to a virtual compound The player receives a "parking ticket" and needs to pay a fine depending on how often the player's constructs have already been towed. Contructs will NOT be sent to player inventory ... however the "parking ticket" can be traded in at a vending machine at the landing pad and the construct will be spawned immediately (so people can not use this mechanic to get an easy "no weight blueprint" of their ships) First time offenders ... reclaiming the towed vehicle is free. Warning is issued that it will cost from now on. Second time offender ... reclaiming the vehicle costs 50.000 h Repeated offenders ... reclaiming costs double every time a construct gets towed.

Either way it needs to be clear to the player. Right now it isn't, because it says safe zone on the screen but it is not actually. There shouldn't be any gray area.

Haunty reacted to Underhook in Ore Refining Mass Broken? Devs please look
True that the game is science fiction not realism.  Good science fiction in general follows science to some degree to make it feel possible.  When we are getting basic math wrong it kinda breaks a feeling of realism (for me).  The big issue for me though id that the game seems to want us to be smart, to work out ways to get an edge etc.  Refining on a (non safe) planet is a risk.  It means that you either have to accept loss if you get attacked or take measures to protect your assets.  It creates game play.  If  it pays more to just land.  Hide in a hole and fly out again.  Well that seems bizarre.  High risk and effort should give greater rewards, shouldn't it?

    too funny
The Owner of the Company (ya know the guy that owns ALL of the tiles) has had a build in game since the dawn of Alioth Time.
I don't blame him for making sure its preserved.

You seem to be full of assumptions today, who is attacking anyone? Because in my end it looks like you all are attacking NQ whatever.
Let me put it in simpler terms, it doesn’t matter what the area is, how they got it, what they are using it for and last but not least, what the intent for it is. If this staff member would have use his powers wrongly, those hexes will not have his staff member name on them. I’ll even go as far as to say to you all that there is an exploit involving TU’s and for as far as I’m concern someone just found their exploit testing site. Those 37 tiles have zero impact on anyone at all besides that NQ claim them first, and if that is the complaint, oh boy....

It doesn’t matter either way, in a sense, I’m glad they have a present in game and people can see it, cause there are games out there that the developers have never step foot in their game once.

    Vertical boosters
    - Work without atmosphere (on moons)
    - Have more thrust for their size
    - Use space fuel
    - Comes in 4 sizes (xs size)

    Hovers
    - Only work in atmo
    - Uses atmo fuel which is cheaper, no need for space fuel tanks
    - Weigh less compared to vertical boosters
    - 3 sizes (no xs)

Haunty got a reaction from realMod in How do I turn on symmetry mode when building?
You can turn it on for an element by looking at the element and pressing U key. It will highlight yellow and when you place the other element it will highlight yellow when it is in the right place

The absurdity is in that if Devs wanted to be sneaky and doing scary bad things they'd be doing it with non NQ-Name alts.

Complaining about NQ-Whatever owning something is pretty absurd.

Oh no - a dev holds 37 territories!

I saw those territories yesterday long before this post and couldn't possibly care less.

I'd be concerned if a player had them - but devs, in a beta? Who cares....well I suppose apparently I know "who" cares - the OP - but it's pretty silly...

Haunty reacted to blazemonger in NQ you need to fix PVP and ASAP!
I do not agree with a list that pretty much says "remove any sting from PVP without asking me to put in effort defending against it"

The glass walls that are being put up in safezones which destroy you when you fly into them and if there are walls built in space on warp landing zones (also in safe zones currently) then yes, I agree that would/should fall under griefing and NQ should both reimburse the victim and ban the griefer, there is no question or argument from me on that.

That said though, you fly with radar and you pay attention, that alone will take away a huge number of opportunities currently being offered to gankers.
Yes, weapons need a balance pass and yes, NQ needs to look at how they will restrict options like flying L guns on an XS core but at the same time, the way forward here is to offer gameplay options to those who consider themselves non combattant. And that means countermeasures like jamming or radar lock breaking mechanics. NQ also needs to provide more details on why you were killed, with what and by whom. This is information that allow you to build experience, learn and get better.

PVP is part of this game, you can't go around basically asking NQ to nerf PVP into the ground because you want to do your thing without having to worry and not put in any effort to counter a possible attack. That is just as spineless as building walls in space IMO..

Re-doing the autoconfiguration on the cockpit/seat after placing the radar should do it. Still might have to manually link the seat/cockpit to the radar after that.

I believe power requirements are coming into the game soon and that may play a role in what kind of bandwidth a core has available to equip elements. Maybe that will change this meta.

Haunty reacted to sentionce in What this game is really missing.....
I feel you may be missing a large part of the game to be honest. I can understand some of the frustrations. However the game isn't complete yet. I am sure that the UI will be tweaked in the future so I deal with it. There is a nice HUD via LUA you can get. I will link it below for you if you want to try it.

    1. You can not free mine any tile on sanctuary unless you have a STU on it and you only get one.
    2. I have yet to find a place that has no ore. I mine on Alioth, Madis, Thades and their moons.
    3. I will agree some things do look different now than in the Alpha vids they showed.
    4. Space flight is meant to feel that way unless you keep your speeds down and invest A LOT of money and time into maneuvering elements like thrusters and retro brakes. Recommended to have way more thrust capacity than weight if you want to feel like a high speed fighter.
    5. Again I agree that the current UI is a bit sparse and hard to read at times.
    6. Yes, it is a sandbox. You have a ton of tools and you are meant to Make the equipment you want to use. (A lot of orgs have some good ships for member use already)
    7. LUA scripting isn't a must. Most players I know haven't even touched it yet. I know about the hud I linked below because it just happened to catch my interest.
    8. The "Thriving Cities" they were talking about were meant to be made by the citizens (you and your friends) over time. It's a fresh system make what you dream!

Space flight and pvp in space is based off Newtonian physics. Design your super fighter and enjoy it. There are some people who would love to be paid in game to design a ship the way you like it. Network, Join an org and explore!

As a side note if you have the capacity to make some good money I would recommend a warp drive so you don't have to slow boat the solar system. I will agree that a good portion of space travel is just waiting in a slow line. I do enjoy the reality of it though. There is an org I have seen someone streaming, unfortunately I can't remember the name at the moment, that is focused on the pvp side of space combat. Seemed like a nice group to be honest if that is your cup of tea.

I wish you best of luck and hope you find what you are looking for in the game. Just keep in mind this game was meant to be what you "Make it".

If you want someone to talk to in game feel free to look me up. My in game name is the same as this forum name.

I'm a early backer but couldn't really play or enjoy DU in alpha.
The start of the beta was not so good I admit, but periods were great and the tutorials very helpful. I felt the addiction coming up.

The last two days were fantastic for me and a friend learning the game and improving the starter Base.
thanks to NQ for all their effort

I now believe DU might be a very good and long lasting game.

Given the game has only just started and most industry players are still working on their own set ups, it is very unlikely. This is like yelling at a baby because they can't drive yet.

Sadly the Help and Troubleshooting channel has become a festering plague of people asking/begging for stuff, fuel cause they ran out, repairs to a ship cause I crashed, glass cause I can. It’s really sad the state that this channel has become, and even sadder is the fact that you don’t even need to fill out a ticket, just go there and spam the channel until you get what you want from a staff member.
I got kind of mad at all the begging so when someone said they had crashed because they came to fast to the planet ad it lagged a little they needed an admin to repair their ship? Little REALLY?! Repair the damn thing yourself wtf!

But NQ staff is catering to everyone there, don’t matter how small or stupid the request is..... They need to rename this channel The Beggar’s Corner....
