Skill injectors were the worst thing that ever happened with EvE. It will be a big disappointment if they appear in DU.
This mechanics allows to create skill point farms with actually dead characters just to resell sp.
Why not to sell skill points directly from ingame store then, along with premium ships and modules.

The idea is to have rail system in the game. As wheels are hard to implement because of movement and collision physics, can we have ability to create straight rails. This will open a lot of great new options.
    1) If you can build rails inside your base or big ship - this makes possible to create moving platforms that would work like elevators. For example you have a large carrier ship filled with many smaller ships. You can make main hangar for landing and once you need one of your ships, it's delivered by such elevator to your landing zone by elevator.
    2) You can create hiding turrets, so building a large ship at first glance it would look like a transport one, but when you encounter some enemy - you can show your weapons.
    3) Train system inside a large city or ship, that may work like public transport when it's not enough space for everyone to fly on their ships.
    4) Underground mining platforms. Principle would be the same as for vehicles that build tunnels for underground (metro) in real world - you have some custom build vehicle that moves only on rails, each time you dig enough, you need to build more rails to proceed. This allows to create accurate tunnels or caves.
I think people will create many other cases where such things can be used.

What you get - split community and longer feedback from testings. Adding one more sever before a release doesn't give NQ benefits.

Main problem with f2p games is not amount of bots, but amount of real money you need to spend for 'premium' stuff. Bots exist everywhere and DU won't be an exception. The same for RMT, it will be present in any popular game.

Miamato reacted to Actimist in Truly Terraforming
Terraforming a celestial body is a complex scientific feat. With our far advanced technology we have the ability to tarraform the ground, but terraforming by definition includes the manipulation of much more than just the dirt; the atmosphere!

Manipulating the ground has harnessed some interesting results, from building a super tall beanstalk all the way up into space, to large flat landing areas covered in snow to aid visuals. There are lots of kinds of non-precious materials you can pick up and redeploy where ever you want. It's been fun (and pointless) to bring grassy soil to a desert planet and begin to truly terraform it.

Some things are missing though - some I'm sure could be easily implemented - some I'm sure will be very complex.

We should be able to plant flora. We can take trees down, but how do we put them back up? I'd love to see player made jungles, with interactive fauna among them.
@IEYESI built a beautiful greenhouse, fit for a botanist - it would be great to see it have a purpose some day.

When atmosphere matters to survival, an oxygenated planet will home to most, and those on barren planets will need to use lots of power in order to supply their oxygen needs. But what if you could build an airtight construct and plant flora in fertile soil? Over time producing free oxygen for those within the airtight enclosure.

I'm not going to start talking about what might happen if you covered a barren celestial body in flora, which could produce enough oxygen for the whole planet - because then we might need to start thinking about magnetic cores to hold the atmosphere in XD

Oh and you should be able to 'mine' water and be able to redeploy it somewhere else. We could create waterfalls!

If there is ever dynamic weather, we could see flowing rivers and deltas!

It's not planned for release and close period. Though they said somewhere at later 'addons' such features may be added.
The main reason I believe is that moving parts add much more complexity to game physics like collisions and multy-grid interactions.
I agree that having modules for Rotors, Sliders, Pistons, Hinges, Rails will contribute significantly to creativity. But on the other hand it's better to have less functionality that is properly tested and polished than more features that can cause troubles.

This is a good reason for other fuel suppliers to feed the market, as they can earn more here now.
Or you can start doing fuel business on your own and decrease actual fuel price for your self as well as sell some fuel on market with high prices

Miamato reacted to Supermega in Need for more Voxel Brush shapes, and options.
Disclaimer: All ideas are based on the publicly available info, not under NDA.

Hello, so one of my biggest concerns with the voxel building tools so far, is the lack of support for curved shapes. I really think it would be sad to see an amazing game like this, filled with only Minecraft Box spaceships. Because curved shapes are so impossible to make. So here are a few basic additions I think could really improve on the current voxel building system. I know, more advanced voxel editing are planned like being able to edit control points, and a Voxel Element Library for more complex shapes. But, there are other, more simple things I think that can be done to get curved shapes into the game sooner rather then later. So, the basic idea is to make curved voxel shapes easily available so players would be encouraged to build none box shaped ships and constructs. I did some artwork to help illustrate my ideas. Please feel free to discuss and give feedback on this thread in the comments. Ok, So lets dive right into it.

These pictures are examples of designs that can be made with these shapes.

    Starting Primitives
So, there are several shapes to begin with when using the voxel deploy tool. Here are some important primitives I suggest should be added as voxel brush shapes. Those shapes are Oblate Sphere, Prolate Sphere, Cone, Torus, Elbow Joint.

    Why these shapes?
The reason I chose these shapes is because they are nearly impossible to make with with the current tools. An even with advanced editing options, they would still be difficult to get right. So it seems like a no-brainer to have these shapes as starting primitives for the voxel brush. It would make it much easier to start creating curved shaped constructs, and encourage more creative designs.

This picture is of the voxel shapes I think should be added to the voxel brush tool.

    Voxel Shape Options
So the next thing is an a expansion on the voxel shapes, by adding parameters before/after the shapes is deployed. For example, having an option like size, and diameter of the TORUS shape before/after you deploy it, or option to set how extreme the elongation is on the SPHERE or CONE before/after you deploy it, and even maybe set the angle of the Elbow joint. So, the way I imagine it would work is, when you select a starting primitive shape, shortcuts like arrow keys, numbers keys are used to set the value of the shape options, then you can deploy it as normal. Also, having an option box that would stay on screen as long as you're using that shape could work too, so that you can continue to change options and deploy new shapes.

This pictures give an example of what changing the options would look like on each shape.

    Bevel, Fillet, sharpen edge tool
So, we currently have a tool that allows builder to smooth edges, but to expand on that idea, I think we should also have the option to Bevel, Fillet, or sharpen edges as needs. The issue is that most times the smooth tool does not give the desired result, or maybe you only want to bevel an edge but not smooth it, or maybe you want some edges with a fillet and some edges sharpen. I imagine it working exactly like the current smooth edge tool, except you would be able to Bevel an edge, Fillet an edge, or Sharpen an edge.

This pictures below illustrates how the tool would effect the edge. This is the current smooth tool.

    Additional Ideas
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Scale Axes
I think this is a simple, but vary important option that needs to be available. Basically we have the option to scale the size of voxel primitives, but we should also have the option to scale voxel primitives on a specific axis (X, Y, Z). This I think would definitely add greater control to create the desired shapes, as well as enhance the freedom of creativity.

    Hollow Primitives
So, this thought came to me last minute, but I think its something that shouldn't be overlooked. The ability to start with hollow voxel primitives. Either a voxel brush option to deploy hollow voxels, or solid, and set the wall thickness, or have hollow voxel shapes as a standard starting shape to choose from. I know that there is an option to cut out voxels using primitives shapes, but the main issue is that cutting out voxels gives a very ugly looking result, most times the edges don't look right at all, or you need a hard edge but the cut out has a rounded edge with a messy texture. Also, hollow primitive shapes would improve the speed, and ease of use when building constructs. Especially when working with curved shapes. Trying to hollow out a curved shape would be a nightmare, so starting with a hollow shape would be great.

    Voxel Elements
So my last suggestion is in regard to Voxel Elements. Novaquark mention in this DevBlog that will have a Library of detail, or complex voxel shapes that players could use in their constructs. They mentioned a spiral staircase as an example. Well, here are a few shapes that I think should be included in that database of Voxel Elements.

Pictures of suggested Voxel Elements to add to the Voxel Library.

I know that a voxel point cloud editing system is in development, list on trello Here. That will really open up lots of possibilities for builders. But, in addition to that, having a variety of voxel brush shapes to start with is still needed to give builders alternative options, because sometimes doing things one way just may not work out how you need it to, so having other ways to create shapes is a big help.

I think that covers the general ideas I had. My overall goal is to see more spaceships and constructs that aren't just limited to boxed shapes, and enable creative builders to really unleash their imagination. An I feel adding additional shapes to the Voxel Brush tool would be a good way to accomplish that goal. Please feel free to give feedback in the comments.

Thanks for reading, see you in the next thread.

Killboard is a great thing. But it's a bit hard to imagine how to create one for DU, because most of the vehicles would be more or less unique, they don't have standard fit slots, etc. Building a report, that provides all the info about killed structure/vehicle is also not the best decision, as it's hard to implement and may reveal some secrects about inner structure. A simple list of "who killed who" doesn't make much sense also.
Glorification of pvp would always be present despite KB existence - youtube, twitch, reddit and other popular services would be full of videos and threads about "how cool it was to kill someone". KB just provide a metric comparison for kills.

Existence of non-destructible structure means one more mechanic to abuse. Because someone can build a military structure within a circle of civil ones. As a result the 'area of contact' with military structure may be pretty small therefore easy to defend.

But probably there may be some kind of 'wonder of the world' contest once per month or few - where players select one most interesting/beautiful building and make it a public nature reserve - non destructible, but ownership is transferred to some non player based neutral corporation to avoid abuse.
Even without it - that's enough to have safe zones on some moons where you can just bring/buy resources and build fancy stuff.

I believe the best choise is to watch all dev blogs and decide whether you like what you see so much, that you want to pay 180euro or not right now. From my point of view the price is pretty high and as supporter packs will be available right until beta starts - there is enough time to make a decision and wait for more infromation from official source.
Also keep in mind that currently NQ will make at least one full wipe for each testing stage, so there won't be advantage after release except some personal knowledge about the game.

Miamato reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Recent Bans: Clarifications
    Dear Community Members,

As some of the Novaquark recent moderation and sanction actions haven’t been clearly understood by some, here are some explanations and clarifications. We are aware that members from “Dark Star Imperium” (DSI) and “New Genesis” think that the decisions taken by Novaquark have been unfair and/or feel like a punishment. It’s not a punishment and we limited the inconvenience to the minimum possible by just resetting the member list of the Organization. This has been done to remove all ghost accounts and make the involved Organizations restart on a healthier basis.

We also made sure that at least one person in each of the involved Organizations can re-invite real members in the Organization:
    - CN_Firestorm for “Dark Star Imperium”
    - Chipfromearth/SpaceKitty for “New Genesis” (until the end of TMA’s ban)

You are more than welcome to contact them to join theses Orgs again if you wish to do so.
Keeping in mind that besides the cleaning of ghost accounts, nothing else has been removed. All community work/content related to these Organizations have been left untouched. We are also going to send an email to all ex-members to inform about the member list reset and offer them to join their former organization again.

Regarding the ban of the leaders of these Organizations:

We understand that seeing your leader banned might be frustrating. However, we want to make it clear that being at the head of a big Org does not give a free pass on toxic behavior and/or bad practices that could damage the Community as a whole. Being passionate, being young, creating quality content is no free pass for such things either. That’s why all the permanent bans decided recently are final. We are not giving such heavy sanctions with a light heart or on a whim. In more than four years, the number of community members who have been banned permanently from the community can still be counted on the fingers of one hand. We think it speaks volume... Some recent rumors say that the bans may be reversed or canceled. There is no ground to such rumor. It’s just disinformation. The fact that a banned member will “not tolerate that” has no weight either. It’s the Novaquark team’s call and the Novaquark team alone.

Now, we want to give a fair warning to anyone wanting to challenge Novaquark’s decisions openly, directly or indirectly. If a community member has been permanently banned from the Community, he’s excluded from the game, which means he shouldn’t be in any Organization anymore. Reinviting or keeping a community member banned permanently could have serious consequences (such as Organization disbanding but not limited to that, as this could trigger other sanctions for those actively supporting banned members).

Now to address some specific questions/rumors:

We exceptionally give some details to the Community to show that we are not banning randomly or without a serious reason. We do it only because some banned members try to take advantage of the confidentiality policy to enforce their own narrative and play the victim, and attempt to misinform other players. Don’t expect the Novaquark team to give anymore information on this case or the possible future ones.

    “Banning Sakej99 was a mistake. He’s a different person from FullSend/Lime”.
The Novaquark team is aware that Sakej99 and FullSend/Lime are different persons. However, that doesn’t change the fact that the permanent ban affects FullSend/Lime will also affect accounts he may have access to (by account sharing, which is forbidden in our EULA). This is one of the main reasons why we are so serious about forbidding account sharing. If someone sanctioned got access to your account, the sanction can be extended to the said account even if you haven’t done anything wrong.

“FullSend/Lime has been unfairly banned, with no prior warning.”
First, for the infraction this community member has committed, there will never be a warning as it was obviously utterly wrong: if a false report is sent to the Customer Support in an attempt to make another community member banned, the one getting the ban is the one who sent the false report. And in this case, indeed, there is no prior warning.

Second, FullSend/Lime is probably the person in the community who would deserve multiple permanent bans (if it was possible), due to previous infractions in addition to the most recent one. Playing the card “no prior warning” is just complete dishonesty and denial of assuming the consequences of his actions during the past couple of years. Here is a short list of the infractions he has done in the past:
    - Asking members of one of his former organization to give login and password of their accounts to him.
    - Using accounts of other players.
    - Creating ghost accounts.
    - Using a loophole in the organization management system on the Community Portal in an attempt to sabotage/destroy an organization by using the account of another player.
    - Participating in a doxxing attempt.
    - Always denying the facts or trying to minimize them, to the point of reaching self-absolving, to avoid dealing with the consequences (a practice reiterated with his last infraction).
Due to the history of this community member, there was no reason for “prior warning” with his last infraction. He has been warned too many times already. Mistakes are not erased just because it happened “long ago”.

By default, Organisations where FullSend was the founder have their ownership transmitted to the oldest member with the ability to create an organization, which gave the following results:
    - CN_Firestorm becomes the new owner of “Dual Insider”.
    - Gravetender becomes the new owner of “Project Azimuth”.
If you are a member of one of these organisations and you want to discuss these changes, please contact the new owner of the Organization.

(About DSI) “There has been a total wipe of the parties to kill the conflict”
Wrong. If that was the case, we would have dismantled “DSI” directly and ban both DSI leaders, which would have included CN_Firestorm. You can assume that if it’s not the case, this is precisely because there is a difference between CN_Firestorm and Primarch. This sanction wasn’t against DSI. The sanction was against Primarch.

Some of the banned members may say “They will be back”.
It’s up to them. However, if we catch them, they will be banned without further notice.

    Best regards,
    The Novaquark team.

Miamato got a reaction from Borb_1 in What would the 7 Greatest Wonders of DU be?
    The greatest wonders should be:

    1) Players Community
    2) Servers stability and uptime
    3) Absence of lags and smooth gameplay in heavy crowded areas/battlefields
    4) Amount of 'building blocks' to open infinite possibilities for creation
    5) Well managed NQ vs Players communication to grab best ideas and introduce them into game, while not damaging balance
    6) Coverage of most gameplay styles in one game - solo/coop/meta-game;
    7) Descent attention for all professions directions, early-mid-end game

That are the main 7 wonders that may make the game great and let everyone enjoy it. Without it DU will be just another game where people build big things, that sometimes look cool  So I hope all that stuff will be real at least after release and will just be improved overtime.
