Well, i dont know about "geek". And i dont regard the "geek" as a offense.

But you're definitely being a "diva"

And please understand, i agree with you with your posts about Linux.

But in this world, unlike what cartoons would make us believe, ppl are not allways right or allways wrong.

And you are wrong with your "toxic" excuse.
And not that we are not "toxic", we are, to the point NQ had to warn us, a few weeks ago.
I myself got a serious warning about "trolling" recently.

But that did not happen on this topic!

In a capistalist world, ppl have the right to point linux's market share as a reason to not provide support.
I dont agree, but its not a "rude" argument to make.

    I will say it again.
There are a allot valid reasons to not play this game.
    I dont currently play it.

But dont use this topic as a lame excuse...
No one will stop playing a game because of writen stuff in a forum.

And yes, i "dare" call your "reason" BS. Because it is BS and i got eyes to read..

Kurosawa reacted to blundertwink in Which one is vital for MMO: Programmers or behavioral psychologists?
Yes. Because they want to make more money.

It's certainly not because they want to create the best games filled with "meaning". Behavior psychology and statistical modeling helps Activision and Microsoft farm their players to squeeze out as much profit as possible. They help extract as much monetization as possible through addiction and gambling.

Of course they'll spend a ton on these projects -- theres's ample research that discusses the predatory nature of game monetization and how it exploits addiction and especially targets young people.

It's still the subject of ongoing legal and ethical debates.

Can behavior psychology be used to create rich game experiences? Sure, maybe...but that's not what these big companies care about and that's not how they utilize these assets -- their interest is purely in creating addictive loops and exploiting those loops to maximize profit.

In that case my motivation would be to quit the game and NQ wouldn't get a sub from me anymore. The motivation for this game for me is that it should be an "A PERSISTENT SINGLE-SERVER UNIVERSE". I have no problem with having a long term sub in the future. But I decide when I want to play. When I leave a construct on the market, then park it in a virtual garage, e.g. If my constructs are released for salvage work, NQ will no longer receive any money from me. It's that simple for me.

You honestly think that not having PVP is why the builders left....

    bwahahahahah...

there were many reasons why our org members went into hibernation but PVP was not first, second or even third on the list of reasons.

I honestly don’t see the point in posting suggestions any more. Can anyone point to a suggestion that was ever implemented?

    not even XS space tanks.

NQ have made it abundantly clear that they are the masters of their game and their UI experience is apparently flawless… They clearly need nobody to tell them what to do.

These last few months, every time I think “what if” I just stop myself right there. Absolutely no point, torturing myself, I realize…

I might as well just enjoy the game for what it is.

wishing for stuff just leads me to years of disappointment. Same with every game I’ve played (except Cities Skylines and Sim City 4 which never disappoint).

I will still criticise NQ for their nonsensical seeming, self-sabotage, though.

Still, I suppose, as a spot of catharsis, this kind of post is still useful.

and do you know what? Since I stopped worrying,  I came back to the game and am really enjoying it again.  Weird.

But this is not the end for me and should not be the end for you.

As it is,(IMO) the game will not survive, at least not for long.
So one of 2 things will happen in the future.
The game changes and becomes attractive The game closes and NQ is forced by investors to sell the salvaged technology developed to others. Both this options will create new opportunities for me and you to have fun again in the future.

Kurosawa reacted to MasteredRed in Comrademoco - A Fond Farewell
Here's my peace to add to this. Comrad's post brings up issues, but this is his final post.

He's been here since the beginning and this is his end. So, instead of a legacy of his final post being about issues, let me recount some of what he did.

He was there at the early start of the game. He was active on the forums, paving the way of discussion in the community. Comrad was invited to be apart of ATV, to be apart of this social game and the social aspects of this community. He made an org, a notch to call home for some time, before stepping up into greater aspects of the community. To be present in the time of memes(CSYN undoubtedly) and to be there at the end of others.

Comradmoco has helped this community greatly. He helped out and along with yamamushi helped make the Discord a community unlike any other in its hayday.

I must tell you all, Comradmoco has spent a great many numbers of hours helping out this community. The official discord, of which he has invested probably thousands of hours, is only the tip of the iceberg.

So, with all this in mind, I bid you farewell Comrad! May you find a greater project than this one to jump to o7

Well it's a start but how can you add this without first adding one of the fundamental basic MMO components - a wallet/ bank account/ log of sales/prices/trends/etc, whatever you want to call it. I've been trying to sell on the markets and it is frankly a total pain in the ass. We need more info than 1000 peeps/bots want to buy 1 mil gold for 0.001 Quanta each! oh and you sold 10 adjusters (Where - fuck knows, was it your last stock? - your guess is as good as mine - you get the picture. We really should not need to resort to the writing pad in these days of the microchip.
Please guys - hire a game designer with experience in MMO's to provide the fundamental requirements!

GarbageKnight with his 46G brakes would die every time he touched them, people can only withstand 5g for a few minutes or 3g for around 1 hour.
Or you could tap them for a fraction of a second and with would only be like a 100mph hour car accident

In your limited view maybe. Many in my org fill their time so much so that they simply don't have enough time to do everything they want to do (and no they don't spend it just mining or building). I will agree if your a player that needs your hand held with 'quests' , instant action buttons, or if you need to be able to craft without having to interact with a 'game world' at all then DU doesn't have a lot to offer. Thats ok, DU doesn't have to be for every single game loop minded gamer out there.

DU shines when you take personalities that prefer to define their own game experience rather then a scripted ones. There are MANY different way to 'make money' in DU other then mining. The creative mode to design your blueprints is already in the works so that should largely solve many of the creative types complaints, right up until they find out to use it in game they need to actually play the game to use the ship. So the complaints of "omg , it will take me months to earn the stuff to bring my super carrier dreadnaught into the game change the game!!". I still like the idea of it just for convenience.

So I just came back from a mining trip, unloaded the ores to be refined and started the production of a few elements, after a while I noticed half of my machines (including transfer units) were stuck to 100% and won't proceed with their task.
Container aren't full so it's not a matter of space, can't be talents either couse I'm mostly dealing with T1 stuff and TU aren't involved with talents.
Might be due to some king of server overload?

Kurosawa reacted to blazemonger in Warp removing any risk from pvp needs to end.
Many of the players complaining and crying here are not looking for fights as they just might lose. They just want kills and for that they need access to those who are not interested in being a combatant as they are easy prey. Vector into them to intercept and most will turn tail and run.

There is a good number of PVP focused players who engage, spar, train and research the best ways to win a fight and spend a lot of time doing so.

Kurosawa reacted to Xennial in Warp removing any risk from pvp needs to end.
All I can envision when people talk about warp interdiction is gank squads sitting around cackling about nuking any ship that warps in. Whats that players alternative? Oh yeah slow boat hours of RL time to get to a planet to still be intercepted by the gank squad, or add hours to try and maneuver around to come at the planet from non traditional travel lanes.

There is no simple solution here thats going to be palatable to the general player base. I would much rather see warp removed entirely and max speed cap be removed. My guess is the server tech simply cannot handle ships moving that fast which is largely why warp works the way it does.

If you want warp to require risk by dropping outside of safe zones etc , then weapon ranges should be dramatically reduced to allow some chance for a ship to out maneuver another and escape a fight. ECM or other defensive measure need to be added to under such a scenario.

You don't solve the lack of PvP by simply turning unsafe space into gank town.

Kurosawa reacted to DuskLight in Let's talk about endgame
I agree that it is a sandbox but we only have so much sand to play with; dig a hole and grind for hours on end, make a ship, lose it in space, rinse and repeat. PvP gets old fast. The game is starting to feel like a grindy 9 to 5 mining job.

Warp cells just need to be removed. Make warp drives have a cooldown after use or something instead. Or make it like Space Engineers and each warp drive can only haul so much mass so far. A heavy hauler would need a dozen or two.

Welcome to DU, now get in the mines! lol! j/k.... mostly...

I'd say make all T1 through XL be freed from schematics. There is no real reason for T1 schematics other than making the game noob-hostile and org-centric.

I don't think they really thought the schematics system through before implementing them, especially the impact on early gameplay. The term "schematic" isn't even correct. When you modify a machine or assembly line IRL to make a different thing, it's called "retooling." So, perhaps "Tool Set" would be a better term than schematic, but the idea is still crap.

NQ, more specifically JC, honestly knows nothing of actual manufacturing and is making a lot of assumptions that just aren't correct, and trying to incorporate any sort of artificial limitations to emulate the real-world is just going to piss people off enough to quit.
