Oh.. right... so 64 slots would be enough if there will be 10k+ active players at release? 😅

Really? I could fill that joint up by myself.

Thanks but no thanks. You're going to have to do better considering your showroom would be like a small shed compared to the actual showrooms we already have.

But thanks for giving us something no one asked for as opposed to making those elements you said you didn't have time to make.

    I am a bit confused...
Did we build our own Showrooms, where we can sell constructs bigger than XS, and did we have a marker on map to invite players to visit our shops, didn't we?

It looks like with the Alioth Exchange we will have to abandon our showrooms and stick to this one, as this one will be surely visited by a huge number of players...
Why do you want us to stop using our own showrooms, or I understand this concept incorrectly?

    Best regards

m0rrty reacted to NQ-Wanderer in UPDATE: MERCURY (0.30)
Summer approaches and with it comes Mercury, our next update to Dual Universe.

As Cyrille Fontaine, our Creative Director, mentioned in his letter, our focus is currently on polish, and Mercury is no exception. This update also brings new features such as The Alioth Exchange, better lighting to improve visuals, Summer DACs, and more.

    Read on for an overview.

    THE ALIOTH EXCHANGE

We’re about to deploy a new installation in the heart of Alioth where players can apply to build a display to advertise and sell their creations. Applications will be open to all players who want to advertise their ship shops, markets, Lua Scripts, organizations, voxel libraries, or anything else that they create.
More details about, ‘The Alioth Exchange,’ will be available in an upcoming dedicated post.

Note: constructs featured are samples only.

    CONTINUED GRAPHICAL UPGRADES

We’re tackling illumination, vegetation, and explosion visual effects with the Mercury Update. You’ll find that the game world will be more radiant and realistic with our new global illumination, vegetation asset fixes will improve the look of foliage in the game, and whether you’re fighting or simply crashing a ship, you can enjoy more vibrant explosions.

    SUMMER DACs

We’re implementing a separate, test version of DACs, allowing every active player to invite a friend to try Dual Universe free for one month.
These Summer DACs are separate from real DACs, and will not impact your accrued pool of DACs from crowdfunding packages when gifted.
One Summer DAC will be given to every active player and can only be redeemed by new accounts not yet subscribed to the game. They will expire by the end of the summer if not used. Summer DACs should allow us to test our web-based DAC system before the game’s release while offering your friends a chance to try the game for free!

    NOVEAN OVERVIEW

We're adding an in-game interface which provides an overview of your general account information and unlocked possessions. We’ll expand this feature moving forward, but in Mercury, you’ll be able to see your unlocked cosmetic skins in a dedicated tab.

    LUA API

Our vision for Lua has evolved over the years and with the new directions we’ve taken, it’s become necessary to entirely revamp our Lua API. These changes will future-proof the API and make it better serve the game by improving and tidying the system. We’re starting this process in Mercury.

Naturally, such a major change will come with an enormous changelog, but to give you a brief overview of what’s coming ahead, we’re going to:

Restructure the entire Lua API Prepare an object-oriented approach to be ready for future evolutions. Reduce the use of JSON in the API to favor the use of real Lua tables. Rely more on event-driven code to reduce player loops and server requests. Reduce the complexity and size of scripts Add some of the, ‘nice to have,’ features Add further points of interest to some elements such as the telemeter.
To summarize, our goal with this update is to reset the API and prepare it for future evolutions. Rest assured that your codes will still work in Mercury and that we’ll give you ample time to adapt your creations.

    TALENT POINT RESET

Every character will have their talent points refunded back to their pool with the Mercury Update. While we must perform this reset for technical reasons related to upgrading our systems, this is also an opportunity for players to refocus talents into different areas and try new ‘builds’, or to simply correct training away from unwanted talents.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As always, we’ll publish a series of articles delving deeper into Mercury’s features, but for now, thank you for reading, Noveans! We’re excited to move forward with Mercury and are eager to hear your thoughts in this forum thread.

Radar not working like before the radar patch.

-Yesterday destroyed a ship at an asteroid, when I went back to check it out it disappeared from the radar.
Seems that below 50 km from an asteroid's surface radar stops working.

-Also when warping and getting closer to our Space Station radar shows many constructs but the icons in third-person view of Space Station and ships parked there are not displayed.

So approaching the base one can hit own ships. Please give us a checkbox that all constructs in the range are displayed with its icon. It is also needed for PvP to be able to evaluate ships number present on a large fight.

The build box question/answer was a bit painful to hear.

We shouldn't have to beg for stuff like that.  The first person at NQ who tried to build on an XS core should have seen the glaring issue and made it a priority.

You aren't doing us a favor by making the game better.  We're doing you a favor by pointing this stuff out.

    Hello Noveans,

Many thanks to all of you who have been with us from our Kickstarter campaign. We appreciate your support and your patience and would like to update you on the status of the rewards you have been waiting for.

    THE PHYSICAL KICKSTARTER REWARDS

Production on the Dual Universe figurines and the Collector Box is complete. However, there are two challenges in shipping them:

First, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the price of shipping has risen significantly. It has reached a point where sending the rewards would cost as much as producing them. We had hoped that these price rises would only be temporary, but we now know that they won’t decrease in the short to medium future. We’ve therefore taken the decision to absorb the increased cost and to move forward with shipping the physical rewards. The second challenge has come from our partner responsible for handling the shipping of the physical rewards. They’ve recently informed us that they won’t be able to complete the task. We are therefore searching for a new partner to take receipt of the physical rewards and to start shipping them to you as quickly as possible.     THE VIRTUAL KICKSTARTER REWARDS

Both the Kickstarter Founder Packs and the Supporter Packs will be released throughout the milestones of 2022 in Dual Universe. We’ll give you more concrete details on exactly when you can expect each part of those rewards packages to be released in the months ahead.

Your support and patience mean a lot to all of us at Novaquark, and the delivery of your Kickstarter rewards is one of our priorities. We thank you again for your support and will update you with more information as quickly as we can.

First, we wish to thank everyone for all of your feedback and questions about the topic Shedding Light on a Novaquark Internal Discussion.

We wanted to let everyone know that the internal discussions are still in process and currently ongoing with all of the pros and cons mentioned in the thread above. This is a big decision and we want to do what is right for Dual Universe, as well as our current and future players.

We have been reading all of your feedback and questions, and they have been extremely useful in our internal discussions. As soon as a decision is made, we will pass that information to you. We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to explore and investigate the best possibilities for Dual Universe. Thank you!

In addition, we will soon have information about the Kickstarter Rewards, as well as DACs to share, so please keep watch for that!

    New Community Podcast

We know that you have many questions about many Dual Universe topics on your mind. Next week, we will be starting a new podcast where we will be bringing your questions to our Novaquark team for answers.

How does it work? Good question!

If you have a question about Dual Universe (game mechanics, lua, FTUE - these are just some examples of topics to ask about), then head over to our Community Questions Submission Form and enter your question(s) there. Once submitted, just listen to the upcoming podcasts and your question may be included there. We look forward to hearing from you!

Yes, the cost is the topic, -
That is why it is so good to just fill the tunnels with soil a week after tunnels were made ...
At the moment we are in the same situation, -- if everyone goes to ground and dig tunnels, they will stay there forever.
    that is consuming space.

But if tunnels are get filled with soil authomatically once a week ( if a player don't "mark" them as "in use" ), - that will solve the issues with ore and tunnels.

I would like to have the old mining on planets.
I believe the average size of ore-nodes should be bigger, and maybe amount of ore-nodes should be less than one year ago.

However, the feature is great, and, since we have asteroids, why can't we have the same on planets? -- I mean, to have mining with closing tunnels automatically after some time ( the same, how asteroids just get refreshed ).

If player wants to have the cave, - make a game-mechanic that will "mark" the soil modifications to exist for some extra time (+1week, next time +2 weeks, next time + another time..)  That is how cave and tunnels can remain active, - by player maintenance), else it will be refreshed automatically.

Mining units weren't about changing how mining worked as much as it was to solve a world problem of too many holes. Mining should take effort. It should take time. It should be cumbersome. They could have solved this whole mining situation by just creating instanced mining. For people who didn't like the old way of mining, that would have been perfect for the economy. Don't like it? Don't do it. Leave the market to the people who want to be miners. Don't like to build? Don't do it! Leave industry to those they do. Etc. Making everything easy isn't the answer to long term survival. Most people will get bored.

@SlaySomething  I have a crazy idea.. How about instead of having the ore automatically brought to the container, we have to search for it ourselves... Instead of the ore being generic to an entire hex, NQ could hide the ore deep underground and then players would have to dig and search for it... Then you could use some kind of special tool that transfers the ore to your container.
The ore should be difficult to find so we could use some kind of scanner or radar that tells us the distance... And a skilled miner could then triangulate the location of the ore by moving about and judging the distance.

And the world comes full circle.

    Absolutely.
An unclaimed tile should be reseeded somehow after a month of no visit/digging there - also mix some few rare ore into it so anyone once has the chance to get some Goldnuggets too.
That would be a nice addition to the PVP Asteroid Gameplay and Scanning-orgies and gives ppl who like(ed) the mining their sandbox back.

For the time I'm playing I'd like to have a reward.
Keep the MU's, why not. But also reseed the tiles all 3 months to kill that infinite lucky bastard rush.

Riiight? I think this will hurt them more than is obvious right now. It makes building more convenient in a lot of ways, but overall it reduces the engagement of the game.

Once you have some AMs set up, mining is basically a "watch the paint dry" feature. Just like slowboating. Just like training talents. Just like waiting for asteroids to spawn.

When so many features in your game rely on waiting around doing nothing, that's just not a good design.

There is only 2 things needed from NQ for a proper player market. 1. The ability for players to buy things via dispensers (or similar item). 2. the ability to globally search for items in dispensers

part of this description is implemented in the Dispensers, exactly how it is explained (with a link to a container).
Part of this is market unit that is used by Aphelia, this one does not have a link or a container, it is just connected to a global market system.

So, your answer to "how player is to manage the market" is the way how dispenser work?
There is organization, who has 90% of all elements in their big ship - SVEA. They manage it as you want. However, they also wish some more improvements to Dispensers, as they are not very comfy.

I do not think this all explains how player should manage market... sorry... I really wish you could share your own vision on it

I'm not sure NQ really wants to have a "discussion" with us, but rather just give us some insight into what "positions" are on their table for internal discussion.
Similar could be seen from the last published "discussion topic, where it was made clear that the topic itself is not just co-discussion, but purely for noting.
What could be done here, however, is to find other positions and ideas that NQ may not have thought of or think are unimportant.
