Nah and they want you to fly that hideous house sized DSAT on an S Core I bet so you can try to build around it while the devs laugh at us.

With all these changes leading to having to have every element exposed,  why not do another pass on elements.

They are ugly AF. That's why everyone covers them with voxal.

So the art department must be complaining that no one is using their oversized terrible looking elements. So "let's force them to expose them so everyone is forced to look at my work and I can be validated"

Change in an MMO is normal and in most cases welcomed if it is for a positive outcome. These radar changes were unasked for and force us to redesign our ships.
For me it's not much that now ships will be ugly with these radars sticking out but how battles will be from now on. Let's say we get a fight between a few Nanos and some Capitals defending an Alien core Shields are to go down very fast and the Capitals will start to Hull-tank until Venting is over, forcing radars on the outside will destroy these really quick because Weapon RNG goes straight to radars first as tested on PTS.
With the destroyed radars Capitals can't shoot back and this was really the final nail in the coffin for big ships.
NQ you really don't want us to fly big ships do you?

I agree with blaze, I think it is a scheme to milk customers for as long as possible, and I find the dishonesty repulsive.

If there's anyone who understands time gated progress, it's EVE players. Unless the player hopped on the eve train in 2003, there's 10's  of thosaunds of pilots that are millions upon millions skillpoints ahead of the newbs.  Like Blaze mentioned, EVE is much stricter in time limited progress barriers. In DU you can have decent enough skill to operate any equipment within weeks.  In EVE you become a very formidable frig/interceptor pilot in couple of weeks, But moving up to something like cruisers/heavy assault cruisers takes months and and to make full use of battleship doesn't happen before 6 months,  and dreadnaught classes take year+ to fly and a lot more to fly well. And we're not even talking training needed utility skills to actually make use of those gun platforms.

In MMO live service space, you're always behind someone and it's a gap you cannot erase, and that's perfectly fine, as long as there is a niche into which new players can squeeze.  A good example of that in eve is small gangs.  A well organized gang of 2-3 players ( with as little as 4 weeks worth of skillpoints)  can easily blow up a 60mil sp BS pilot ( and they do|.  There's always more than one way  to skin a cat.  If you can't win a fist fight, you bring a baseball next time

When you're building a MMO game, cornerstone of which is persistence, you must reward players the payers with the most commitment most, and players with least commitment the least. Of course there are genres where this is not the case, lobby shooters being the prime example of that. But that a completely different design paradigm.

As for the mythical EVE converts, i hate break it to you, but the lion's share of possible eve converts already tried DU in alpha/alph-beta and very few of them still actively play.  I myself come for EVE background, and i was enamorated with pitch of EVEish dog eat dog world with creative side to it where i can become my own shipwright. Alas besides the shipwright part, rest of ( what little there is besides building) DU did not really knock my socks off.

I've accepted that NQ decided to wipe (whatever form) . Few weeks prior to this whole drama i  finally reached the point in my progression where i could support my piloting/building/shopping habits without having to grind for resources.  However the journey there wasn't particulary entertaining. certainly not enough to be willing to repeat the experience of past 2 years. I'm convinced i'm not alone in this feeling,

The biggest problem of DU is not the wipe itself, but the fact that such a large part of its playerbase did not enjoy the experience enough to be willing to repeat it.  In a lot of other MMOs people like to start new avatars for the sole purpose of reliving the starting experience ( even  in EVE).  Don't see that in DU.

I think the number of responses in this forum says it all. There are a total of 30 comments across three days (31 with this post and two of those days were over a weekend) and the OVERWHELMING MAJHORITY of the response is...

    Dear NQ;
Please give us the answer we have wanted for over a month.

This content might has well have been no content. I think some of us would have felt better if it wasn't made at all. Yes you are working toward a goal. A goal with no timeline that your community knows of. Yes you are working hard and the work is not necessarily easy to complete, However if you "hear" us then the perception is you don't care, or the leadership does not care. Please answer the question we have asked collectively as a group over and over, or let us know when you will have the answer.

I think what is more telling in the feedback forum though is that a significant number of the usual characters have not even bothered to give you "feedback" precisely for the reason that you don't care. Perception matters and that is the perception I get from reading this entire forum. As a player since the start of beta I have canceled all of my subs and will not be logging back in until we have this answer. Really at this point I am not even angry any more just sad

I am super angry about this we will have you an answer soon, and then of course in regular NQ style, nothing.
Respectfully this stringing along of the community is child's behavior,

GIVE YOURSELF A SHORT DEADLINE WITHIN THE NEXT 30 DAYS, AND DELIVER ON TIME A CONCRETE ANSWER YOU WILL STICK TO!

    NQ,

There was one question the community wanted answered, and you failed to deliver on that yet again. At this point "we hear you" is not enough. An actual answer is long past due. The community - your customers - are suffering.

Please, let us know what will happen going forward, in a detailed manner, so we can plan accordingly.

Try a 100% of your ships not working any longer. All my builds are optimized for minimal footprints using hardly any voxels, and none of them work as they should after the patch. Some don't even fly at all.

And that is something I refuse to fix, since the fault is all NQ. And together with the wipe thing it is why I have stopped playing now.

We got the announcement of the 'announcement' on April the 14th, 2022. It's now May 15th, 2022.

A month has gone by, and NQ has effectively not been able to come to a decision on how to wipe their game. Is this a lack in leadership (capabilities) or is this just a hail Mary were NQ wants to keep their (paying) customers as confused as possible, for as long as possible?

If NQ can't come to a decision in a month, and we got confirmation two days ago that they were still 'discussing' it at the office from a YT podcast by official sources. Do you think they can come to a decision in two months? Six months? Twelve? Then how much more time until actual implementation? Meanwhile our subscriptions are being eaten by a DU that's just not persistent as was advertised. How long can such a situation last before it's completely irreversible?

This is not a thread about wipe or no wipe, this is about the lack of decision making. So we're taking bets on when the actual wipe or no-wipe happens and when that decision will be made. Place your bets here!

The content was unfortunately as expected and I will not comment more about it.

But I would like to comment about the quality of the audio. Neither all of you or all of us do have english as our native language. Therefore the quality of the audio must be better. It was very difficult to hear some of the participants over the music, and you should have some knowledge how to filter the audio so even a basic headset sounds alright.

If you want us to believe that you understand what quality looks like, it must be noticeable when you communicate.

Really, you're going to keep arguing wipe-vs-no-wipe after 40 pages of discussion on the original thread rather than uniting around 'FFS just get it done'?

I'm sure you are as aware as I am that very few people are playing the game at the moment because most people are waiting on a decision (and possibly the wipe to happen)?  It doesn't matter whether or not I think a wipe is a crap decision or not.  I think delaying the announcement of a wipe is a crap decision because they will launch a game where new players rock up and see a bunch of annoyed vets ranting about a wipe and all the other things players rant about when they're annoyed about something.

    It's a crap plan.

And they need to get a better one.

OK, so I didn't get past the first 40 seconds of this video before heading over here to give feedback.  I hope you'll forgive the profanity here and take this as honest, genuine feedback from a frustrated log-time player and leave it for discussion rather than just deleting it so I have to waste my time putting it up on reddit instead.

NQ you are really starting to take the piss now.

At this point there is basically one question people want answering.  Nobody cares two hoots about anything else unless they're living under a rock and don't even know that a wipe is on the table.  You know this, and we know you know this, because you chose to talk about it at the start of your video rather than pretend otherwise which makes it OK and relevant for me to come in here and say this.

At this point it's essentially a binary decision here.   You are trying to paint a picture of a company which is examining every detailed nuance of the decision before attempting to make the very absolute rightest (and yes, IK that isn't a word) decision about the wipe.  But really there are 3 possibilities:

    - you think that the 'no wipe' arguments outweigh the 'wipe' ones.  In this case we would know now.
    - you think that the 'wipe; arguments outweigh the others and have essentially decided already but don't want to say so for whatever reason.  Perhaps because you're just milking the ones who will stop for a few more months of sub money before they do so?
    - you really can't decide because the wipe and no wipe arguments are approximately equal.  If this really is the case then you've walked yourself into an awkward corner but there isn't a good or a bad answer.  Just two equally good/bad ones.  But in this case delaying the decision is just making everything worse.  I'm sure you want to talk about whatever other interesting things are in this video than the wipe.  But even you know that the wipe is the thing we all care about.  If there's no good and bad choice then just make one of them now and we can move forwards.  Flip a coin if you have to.  You have had plenty time to think about this.

So I hope you'll take it in the spirit it is intended when I say 'FFS just get on with this and make a decision before the game is dead'.

I feel like 90% of the podcast is stuff that doesn't really matter to us when we are waiting on wipe news, which is of course...

THE NEWS IS NO NEWS... which isn't anything new, just another Tuesday in DU. (I know it is Friday, just a figure of speech.)

    DU Development Roadmap:

June 1st - Come out with a podcast ignoring questions, promising answers in the future.
July 1st - Make another forum post stating how much they have learned based on our feedback.
August 1st - Make a news letter repeating the difficulty of making this decision.
September 1st - Make another podcast talking in more circles about upcoming due date to make a decision.
December 1st - Decide to wipe.
Feb 1st of 2023 - Actually do the wipe and take the servers down for 2-3 weeks.
March 1st - Talk about the difficulty of resetting the servers.
June 1st of 2023 - Open the servers post wipe...

P.S. Charge for subscriptions the whole time. 🤣

With current state of game if they release they will have an influx of probably 50,000 players in one month, servers will tank, game will be review bombed on game review sites, and the population will fall to around 5k players probably, that will taper back to a little more than what we have over a 6 month period.

I don't care what the dev's say about how many players they supposedly have. What I care about it what I see. Which is usually the same 20 some people in chat, and then Me, Myself, and I in my area.

Regardless of wipe or no wipe, there is a ton of grind and not a lot of reason for grinding.
