What is fucking wrong with this community?  Y'all need Jesus lol.  The cringe here is just obscene.

Listen, the first guy OP dude up there had a bad take, but it came from a genuine concern and one that NQ has even addressed as a problem.  But....in this thread, some of your responses are just sooo goddamn toxic that you might as well just say them to yourself out loud because no effing way you're convincing anyone with that kind of talk, and you're  honestly going to even turn off people who may had originally thought as you did *cough cough*

But to the point...you can't just wipe someone's account for people who payed into it and who have spent time on it, just because they let their game sub lapse.  There are all kinds of reasons people may take a break:
Military Service (Which can last for a year or more depending on deployment zone and stop-loss or w/e other countries call it)
    Pregnancy
    New Job
    Natural Disaster
    Medical Problems or Hospitalization
    Starting School
    Financial Problems
Or any other personal reason for taking a break to focus time elsewhere

The magic blueprint idea is good, because clutter can be bad.  And I'd say give it 14 days after a sub runs out, but yeah in protected areas 12-24h whether sub is active or not (that gives people at least 1 paycheck to restart it)

This could had been a legitimate and real conversation with some possible systems that would had been good to implement, but you guys just went salty and sad like immediately.

Seriously, if someone makes a critique, you need to stop spewing the same company talking points.
And stop dogpiling.  No wonder so many people quit the game and new user acquisition is so low.

I mean it, especially Mason just wow.  I've never seen a community so good at pushing buttons.  I'm usually pretty chill and friendly, but WOW any time someone mentions that they dislike the schematics system, and I say "Yeah I know, it's pretty terrible.  If it were up to me, there'd be the basic tiers available for the factories so you could at least have fun trying it out to see if you wanted to invest all your time in those talents," I get fllllaaaaamed hard!  And eventually, I broke.  I said some damn dirty things in chat (which I do not regret, you guys were all being scumbags) but I swear, it's A BETA!  You're SUPPOSED to talk about the things that you think don't work right!  This is NOT the final product!

I'd heard in videos and read in articles that this community had taken a weird turn for leg-humping, but wow experiencing first hand with the dogpiles and the absolute jack-assery that pushes people to just say "Eff you and your animal soul" was...well I'm out.  You think the changes are good for the economy, eh, because more contribution means more production?  Well, you bastards are about as bad for the economy as can be, because you're turning people off who want to play the game in any other way than you exactly do.

    Deuces, douches.

What about having a possibility to export our ship as OBJ file.

There is a lot of application with that:
we could include that to DU Creator so customer could see the ship in 3D. we could 3d print etc...
What do you think about that?

Nearais was in discord answering questions, chatting and fielding the criticism very gracefully. I thought it might be a short lived interaction with all of the hate that was being vented but we all had a good discussion. Hopefully we can get back to stuff like that if it's not too much strain on resources/time. I too have been critical of the lack of communication since .23 but I would like to take a moment and thank you for interacting with us and maybe restoring some hope.

All subs are active, they don’ run out. If somebody get’s a 1 month sub, he can play on, even after that month.

So for your idea, inactive accounts would have to be a thing.

I still disagree with you anyway, crafts should just be despawned after 24h on an Aphelia tile and you can spawn them again via magic blueprint (found at nearest market) but only at the tile it was despawned.

    RIP Dual Universe.

It was fun while it lasted.
    Kind of?

I remember accidentally stumbling across a video of Dual Universe, the alpha feature showcase running ~50 minutes long. Boy oh boy was I impressed. In the past I've played things such as starmade, and empyrion, and always loved the idea of a space sci-fi and as a star wars fan myself, always building large scale stuff like star destroyers and blah. As fun as these games were to play, they always suffered from having next to no major interaction in multiplayer. As you can guess, the whole idea of Dual Universe being a space sci-fi sandbox in an MMO setting was an incredibly grand and alluring idea. I had plenty of fantasies and imaginations of how awesome DU could turn out to be, as many many others had too. Unsure of what exactly I can say without breaching NDA, I'll keep it vague. Playing the Alpha build was pretty frustrating lol. However, the community made up for a lot of DU's pitfalls. I had discovered a sort of 'role play' civilisation building community that spanned over years of living under a shell of tight NDA alpha development, which was quite interesting. Everyone was eager for DU to enter beta, and to get serious. To let go of needing to 'Role play' and just be able to take their metagaming to the next level in the persistent world of Dual Universe.

The Beta launch was certainly a real mouthful. Everyone rushed out the gates to make their mark in the world, a race to cement their existence into DU's solar system. Damn were there a lot of people, compared to the current population it's almost unbelievable. Even NQ didn't expect such a huge influx of players to jump in. This caused a lot of dumpster fires during the start of beta, and a lot of NQ's efforts were directed toward putting them out. It was choppy as hell, but it seemed like DU really had a major ingredient to succeed, player population. Regardless of the hugely buggy nature of the game which many people criticized as being no way near beta ready, especially paid beta ready, people still trucked on hopeful of what DU could be. One extremely common phrase among critics and players alike, was that DU had so much potential, and every one of them were right.

With the introduction of larger than alpha resource nodes amongst all of the planets, and meganodes for each ore, DU experienced a huge boost in progression, as everyone grinded their brains out to collect as much ore as they could. Mega factories popping up left and right, in every nook and cranny. Production and resource exploitation at an all time high left NQ worrying about the fast paced progression they seemed to be quite uncomfortable with.

The idea behind DU was that it was oriented to group play in such a way that people would build organisations, alliances, countries, and civilisations. Unfortunately, apart from marketing efforts DU wasn't really setup to encourage any of this. Being weary of needing to RP to really do any of this, most older groups began to grow uneasy. The cause for this controversially being the implementation of safezones, and lack of territory warfare, which was a desired addition for the beginning of beta. Initially, the idea was that the only safe place in the solar system would be the Sanctuary moon. The absolute only reason for its current existence. Instead of a creative solution to allow organisations/nations to create their own safezones, their own mark in the solar system, we were given a very, very lenient absolute safe space. In my opinion, the sole existence of any safezones aside from the sanctuary moon works only to remove any incentive or encouragement for a nation or country to emerge in any part of the solar system. Everyone joined into DU with their own dreams, and their own desires of creation. And everyone was very much free to move about and do as they wished, on their own. It's likely NQ were forced along this path due to simply not having enough time to develop critical gameplay mechanics, coupled with problems among the studio itself, with none of the original team who initially worked on DU no longer even working at NQ. DU now has effectively turned itself from a promising civilisation building MMO, into a quiet, enormous and extremely overpriced museum for sci-fi voxel creations.

The PVP, and effects of it are nothing short of Pitiful.

NQ's move to stifle progression and control it's rate among DU, backfired miserably and completely decimated DU's saving grace, its player population. The introduction of update 0.23 unsettled and enraged SO many people, eesh. If you're reading this and your opinion is that 0.23 was a great patch, you clearly don't see the incredible damage that it's done to DU, NQ, and their PR. Enjoy your giant space museum while it lasts. NQ certainly took a major step back in communication in the aftermath of update 0.23, which only further annoyed the playerbase.

Recently a new Community Manager that went by NQ-Naunet was hired, and made strides in engaging with the remaining DU community. Only just recently, after only 4 months of working at NQ, Naunet has left NQ without a word. Naunet was much appreciated by the community, and her departure left a gaping hole in the communities confidence in NQ's ability to manage a community, sparking a recent freefall dive (absolute shitshow) in NQ's temporarily completely unmoderated Forums, with only NQ-Naerais left to hold the reins on a fragile and wavering community.

Another recent incident involving NQ deciding to completely remove ingame support, and discord support has also caused unease and frustration throughout the entire playerbase. Leaving the only form of support to the ticket system, which is famous taking up to a month or more for a response, and often the responses were extremely unhelpful. The removal of NQ's ingame support system basically blew up any players hope for help in navigating DU's buggy and problematic nature.

The ingame support team did an incredible job of handling many of the problems thrown at players, most of which simply made no sense to wait months for. Most of the tech support workers have left NQ after this move.
    Their names are:
    NQ-Wokk
    NQ-Blacksun
    NQ-Gallion
    NQ-Astratum
    NQ-Samaritan
    NQ-Stargazer
    NQ-Orion
    NQ-Reaper
    NQ-StarFire
    NQ-Xeno

Apologies for anyone I've missed, but they've singlehandedly been through the rivers of buggy shit to ensure that players had the best possible experience in DU.\

Now that the support team is gone, Naunet is gone, any Liason between community and NQ non-existant, most people just want to see DU put out of its misery. Was a fantastic concept, but it seems like it'll just never work. With the whole idea of DU having millions of players, but only being attractive to a very niche group of resilient and hardcore players, and the recent decision of NQ, DU has just lost it's much needed momentum, and as we can see with numbers pulling out of NQ's roster, including more prominent and notable names, faith in NQ's ability to deliver DU as advertised, promised, and pitched, are at an all time low.

Even JC's in rough shape after 0.23, poor dude.

As for JC himself, mad respect for the dude. Starting a brand new company to develop and handle his dream game (as was ours), was bold and brave of him. We all wished him the best in his endeavours, and are all sad to see what is to come of DU.

If you're new and wanting to get into DU, I'd advise against it. If you have friends to play with and wanna muck around DU, all power to you. DU isn't really that pricey, probably won't last for another 3 months anyway.
But for anyone looking for what DU was pitched as, it's looking like a hard skip.

And now some random memes to dust off the post.

Oh that's fine of you to say that, but no, it wasn't getting my feelings hurt, don't think I have many of them left at this point anyway.
It was the constant triggered masses dogpiling while I'm just trying to tell someone "I agree, and here is where I think the problem lies," whenever they say they are frustrated with trying to do basic industry and someone else tells them "lol then don't even bother, specialize in something else."

I actually really love the idea of this game and what it has done, but people being pricks to try and shout down anyone who says "yeah that's a shitty system, it needs to be fixed" is definitely turning people off.  Again, it's not just me, I saw warnings and just didn't think it was actually "a thing" until I came back and saw it.  People really, really, REALLY wanna defend this system and don't want it changed at all, despite that fact that it is fairly arbitrary and not fun.  It's a social mindset of "I did it, so you should, too!," despite the fact that MOST people did NOT do it, and were already pre-established before the new system was put in place.

    So...

The biggest growing problem in DU right now is the fact that NQ has done little to properly nerf warping.
This is NOT a call to make warping more expensive...
This is more of a signal to NQ to either reduce the safezone of planets, or make warpdrives drop you off about 5-10 su outside of a planet's safezone that's NOT inside the Thades, Alioth, Madius bubble

There's been a growing number of complaints about how warpdrives really kill the game in many respects even though it's a huge time-saver, it completely removes the risk factor from the game.
In addition, since there's no way to interdict someone and force them out of warp, this really gives no reason for PVP to take place naturally in game.

    Suggestion:
The system might be nice.. however some suggestions for the NPC generated missions:
There needs to be two types of missions Warp capable - Allows a person to warp the package without fear of the mission being terminated The shorter the distance, the less quanta a person will make The shorter the distance, the less valuable the package The greater the distance, the more valuable the package The greater the distance, the more costly it will be to ship/warp (meaning the weight will be increased... thus you add balance to the game) Non-Warp Capable - If the hauler warps the package from one location to another the mission is automatically terminated BY DEFAULT these missions are exponentially more valuable than warp capable missions on a factor of 3 or 4 The shorter the distance, the less quanta a person will make The shorter the distance, the less valuable the package The greater the distance, the more valuable the package The greater the distance, the more costly it will be to ship/warp (meaning the weight will be increased... thus you add balance to the game) NPC generated missions need to be more plentiful The community is not lively or active enough to support hundreds or thousands of available missions.

Madrummer got a reaction from [BOO] Sylva in Player made trade items
I disagree 100% on the "no one would want to use them."
I think it'd be fun to make trading cards, commemorative coins, Guild or Corporation-specific minted currency...and again, my MAIN reason is because I want to make ticket booths and start an entertainment company that goes around setting up carnival games, rides, faires etc, and I want to build a casino.  RDMS will do _nothing_ for those.  I want something dynamic that can be done at the player's whims.

Want to ride on the roller coaster?  Insert ticket, get temporarily-granted RDMS to get in the ride.  Once the ride's loop is completed, the RDMS is reset, and another ticket will have to be used to ride.  Out of tickets?  Well feel free to purchase more at a kiosk!

I don't know why you're so against a feature that has apparently WAY more operational reach and creative possibility than you gave thought to.  And the ID Badge thing was just an idea for some fun RP, and something that would allow more dynamic control of functions (such as in terminals) and would provide TONS of options for making interactive puzzles and setting up little dungeon adventures for people.

    Weekly Update - Nov 4th

Apologies for the delay in my usual weekly update. A combination of real life work and a poor mood on Monday and Tuesday respectively restrained me from my usual posting.

Four rescues during this testing period raises our Alpha 2 count up to 19 and our total rescues to 33.

Haunty carried out the first two rescues to kickoff Friday. The first being a fuel run to the new spaceman @Emyrs1701 who encountered a few problems on their way back from Teoma and ran out of fuel. A two hour journey into the black void was all it took before they were on their way back home.

With a fancy jetpack strapped to their back, players can effortlessly EVA around or in-between constructs, or just float off aimlessly into space as one @sadmandono accidentally did. Haunty was able to pick them up a few hours after their previous rescue and expedite a return to their craft. This concluded the days rescues 30 and 31.

A mishap on Sunday afternoon found myself picking up @Madrummer after they also got separated from their construct in space. With the position I found them in on Alioth in relation to their construct all the way on the other side of the planet, I took an easier half orbital route around Alioth and expended a minimal amount of fuel to fly the short 2 SU distance where a successful recovery was made to conclude rescue 32.

Finally, as the test was wrapping up on Monday morning, Annabella assisted a new player who got trapped in space (yes, this is possible) on a friends construct. After providing some more technical assistance, they were able to respawn back on Alioth, and so capped off rescue 33.

    -----

On the second of this month, @Haunty claimed 6th place in a race hosted by the DICE organization in his construct named "Scrambulance" among . Congratulations for the great showing!

This race started and ended on Alioth, and featured a checkpoint where racers had to land in a designated zone to get a secret number before returning back to the finish line to claim their place in the rankings. Reading in a correct secret number would cement their position among the pack of twenty. An incorrect number on the other hand...  nobody knows.

Three additional prizes were given out:
The best looking ship which was a Halloween themed human skull created by @helvetian.
The best crash at the start / finish line was awarded to @Grimmethy.
A random prize was given out to @Dhara.

Congrats to everyone who was involved. The success of this event excites me greatly for the future.

    -----

Aside from all this, I did put a small dent in my medium fuel transport after a bit of thoughtfulness. With some ingenuity I've been able to boost the fuel carrying capacity and even add on some storage room to boot. This particular construct, as mentioned in a previous post, has been sitting largely unfinished for months now, it's really about time I start working on it.

Still batting around an idea for that large fuel transporter I was talking about a few posts ago. I can't wait to start working on it.

That's all for now, until next time, fly safe everyone!
