Physics got a reaction from Zychov in Why Do I like Dual Universe
I really like the building side of DU and with the voxel editor getting put in I really feel this part of the game is a job well done.

I actually enjoy the industry side of the game in a casual sense (not rebuilding a full factory for the 5th time ?). I just really wish that some schematics was found in other places rather than market. Big game play driver being missed here.

Im a pvp focused player but won’t comment on pvp right now because there is much more coming and needs to be done ?

exploration can be fun seeing what everyone has created but a tad more incentive work is needed I feel.

No if you don’t log in to put quanta in the “territory wallet” you character wallet will remain untouched however your territories will start the process of abandonment straight away.

The biggest reveal in the VLog to me was the change so Territories never run out of ore. The change in how the ore is extracted is trivial compare to this change from a gameplay perspective. Its even more impactful then taxing territories.

In light of this, I have completely changed my opinion on legacy scan reports. I feel they must be wiped with Demeter.  To not do so, provides those with the most scans an extraordinary advantage over other players that was never anticipated by me or others (I'm sure). And an advantage for everyone over players who will join in the future.

Trying to be optimistic, I take this change to mean that territory warfare is a definite, not too far off feature. That is the only counterbalance to a feature that gives an otherwise unassailable advantage to legacy players which will be deeply resented by the have-nots (now), and (hopefully) far more numerous future players.

Right now 3 is not a problem at all. However if NQ did a full wipe and all T3 reserves are gone there is only 2 ways to acquire T3 ore.

Making advanced mining units since T2 units cannot extract T3 (requires T3) or making a DSAT to find asteroids (also requires T3 ore). So after a full wipe the way it currently is in order to break this cycle player/player’s would need to run in to an asteroid by complete chance without a DSAT to guide them. This is not easy to do at all.

Additionally, I'd like to propose a compromise to the pre-demeter scans are useful vs useless issue. Keep with what you're currently doing i.e. old scans will be updated to include the new ore pool. However in X time, say 6 months, reshuffle the seed for the ore generation on live servers (while giving us plenty of notice ofc). This way the hard work of scanning will have paid off but soon will come a time where everyone will be on somewhat equal footing
Tbh, that could honestly be a regular thing. I remember back in Star Wars galaxies the ore constantly moved around and you had to follow it for the most profit. Now that was a bit too often IIRC, but with a permanent seed you risk a fully scanned system where there are no chance for a new player to strike gold

Regardless, I'd try to be very careful how you communicate "permanent" and "forever" regarding current tile contents. Just to keep your options open going forward

Resources will never incentivise city building as that is more of a social structure mechanic. City building design solution would be more like this.

Social. DU has a couple of novelty cities that has popped up but there is absolutely no use for them. Cities are currently nothing more than empty ghost towns with the only purpose of filling up your voxel cache. Possible solution to this is too introduce a residency mechanic to give towns and cities a purpose. Mechanic could work as followed: Every character created has 2 possible residency declarations. A player can use these to declare residency on a static or space core. When a territory reaches a certain amount of resident players the territory owner can declare the territory as a village. This will give all residents certain bonuses while within the territory and some lesser bonuses for visitors. Bonuses could be anything from Indy to put down skills. As the territory gets more residents it can evolve to a town, city and metropolis. As it evolves the bonuses gets bigger and better and once you reach city state neighbouring territories with the same owner can share resident count and bonuses so expansion can continue.

Physics reacted to Gottchar in NQ can you provide background for the brake changes?
Brakes should obstruct like any other element.
Brakes do not add to the active element number bug, only engines (and ground engines when close to ground) and aerofoils do.
The current arrows on the live server are pointing the wrong direction, for the M brake it even points sideways.
IF they used the obstruction direction indicated by the current live server arrows, people could just stack them on top of each other in some room in the ship, like now, but pointing the arrows outwards through the wall, sideways or upwards. Which is bullshit. So the new direction makes sense, and also means it is futureproof for when they add the animation.

So the changes, imho, make sense, I do agree though they could have announced it earlier, or when putting it on the testserver already told us "we plan to give you at least X weeks time before this hits live server, if at all".

Regarding ship size, the amount needed to land a ship of any size and mass is the same as before, 0. You just need your silly amounts if you want to be able to almost stop in midair while freefalling. The moment you realize that your hybrid ship is a space-ship in space, and an air-craft in atmo, you can sail like an aircraft and land like one, brakes just reduce the roll out needed.

How does obstruction work? Likely as follows:
From the middle of the yellow circle you see, the game decides on a random direction within a ~40° cone. If there is an obstacle in that direction it counts as one obstructed direction, if not, not. Repeat every few seconds. Remember last 20 results.
Obstruction percentage = (amount of obstructed directions X 5) %
This explains why obstruction depends on collision detection, why it fluctuates, and why you often see elements either deep red or not red at all the moment you enter build mode, and it becomes a bit more "nuance" after a while.

This is NOT something that was officially said somewhere, it is just my guess. My model if you will, which works better than any other model I head of so far though.

Physics got a reaction from Jagget in PERMANENT REMOVE SCHEMATICS FROM THE GAME
Schematics was never a bad idea, just the time and way they was implemented was TERRIBLE. However now that the backlash has come and gone and dust is settling with the missions and other economy injectors finally coming in to play schematics are finally making sense. My only change would be to have schematic injection happen through a more variety of ways and different exclusivity rather than just checking them on market bots.

Exotic sheild schems only found on wrecks in pvp space? or RNG chance from doing a certain alphelia mission? etc etc

Again, if people don’t want too run missions they will not. People will cut back on territories to lower costs, persevere through to continue doing what they enjoy or get fed up and disappear. Others will just let them run down to abandonment.

You make it sound like 1 mil per week will collapse the economy when people have been spending cash on schematics over the last year costing 100’s millions per shopping trip.

As many mega factories have most schematics needed now there is lots of spare change so people who focus on industry and markets etc this will not hurt at all.

The player base who has had no desire to make big money or play the economy and just wanted to mine for themselves to build what they wanted along with the casual players are the ones in danger here. The patch runs a big risk for them to join the pvp community in the DU history books.

In the Q&A can NQ clearly lay out the conditions and time lines from a territory going default on payments to another player claiming the territory and any possible take over of the previous owners constructs. Maybe an idea to put this info in an e-mail blast also ?

Those ships should not be possible in the first place. I get around it by building purpose built ships. A heavy amto hauler, a heavy space only hauler, modest all around hauler as a few examples. The game balance is busted with no limit on how much crap you can stick on a core. All in one ships that have so much bs on them they can do everything well with the only drawback of using lots of fuel is so broken and needs to be fixed.

Given that the new system does not need to reseed the ground to reset the ore. NQ could always make it a feature of the land efficiency maps changing/resetting to new values every 3-6 months or so.  This will drastically lower the need for hefty safe zone territory taxes and give new and returning players an even chance to discover the rare territories later on in the game. ?‍♂️

You are incorrect. There will still be an inflation because the alt runners can easily make a billion a day. However the wealth divide between players and play styles will widen far further than it even is now. This will not be sustainable and another section of the player base will join the pvpers in vanishing from the game slowly but surely.
