23 hrs makes perfect sense. If you play every day from 9pm then having th timer set to 24 hrs would mean you’d have to log in later and later each day to get your reward.

setting it to 23 hrs means that even if you logged in 15 minutes early at 8:45 one day, say, you would get your reward.

GraXXoR got a reaction from borzol in MOAR container management!
    1) For the love of all thing logistic, NQ, please provide a full set of inventory management LUA commands. We want to know what’s in our containers and the associated volume... Worst of all, having to rely on weight to calculate volume contained in a container gets old quickly and is useless for mixed loads.

Some 20th century refrigerators have better programming and inventory than your nanocontainers!!!

    2) how about providing some form of system level auditing or ability to record drop offs and removals at a LUA level. Player I’d, Product deposited and volume/mass for example. Might need to work in conjunction with an activation sensor or something.

    3) please stop making the container hub the centre of mass  -yeah, I know it was super-simple to program it that way- but please calculate it using the mass distributed among the containers just like what you did when the containers weren’t linked.

We often want the hub to be placed in an aesthetically pleasing/easy to access location, but having 1200T of weight suddenly attributed to your dashboard rather than the container section of your vessel can make it dangerous or impossible to fly with the centre of mass shift this causes in heavily loaded or delicately balanced constructs.

    4) more of a convenience factor, but how about making the container hub programmable so that it doesn’t need a PB separately? It’s “looks”programmable.

    5) same thing goes for fuel containers. Please allow us to dertermine volume and fuel type programmatically and enable us to record who is adding/removing fuel.

    6) allow us to poll consumption rates and activate/deactivate fuel lines on a link by link basis. Maybe even provide a way to limit maximum consumption.

    7) how about allowing the container hub to enter “fuel hub mode” if connected to fuel containers instead of regular containers? That way we could combine multiple smaller tanks seamlessly and not have to fill and manage them independently.

? yeah, I know the 8 was amusingly turned into a smilie.
this is just a random shower-musing, but how about making the little screen on the PB/container hub addressable in some way? It would be cool for a simple icon or colour change or even a bit of text or a button close up.
Or how about a little bar graph or dial on the side of each container to show how full it is.

I know exactly what to do when the resources run out.
We select the brightest and strongest among us and put them on a massive ship .
put them into cryogenic storage and send them thousands of light years away to a system with plenty of planets and resources.
    Problem solved

GraXXoR reacted to Ambaire in What happens when all resources are mined?
I have seen no talk of planetary resource regeneration, yet.

To take a quick look at some other games with similar gameplay elements:
Space Engineers has infinite asteroids, and its planet deposits are far richer than Dual Universe's.
Eve Online's asteroids respawn every day.
Empyrion has meteorites that fall on a planet if all deposits of a type are mined.
No Man's Sky has basically infinite resources even on a single planet.
Factorio has a basically infinite map with resource deposits getting larger and larger as one gets further from the center.
Oxygen Not Included allows rockets to be launched to planets to retrieve resources.
Surviving Mars has the Mohole wonder which gives basically infinite resources once constructed.

What mechanisms will be in place for this in Dual Universe? I am especially concerned about this as some resources can only safely be obtained from relatively small moons, and once those moons are mined out entirely (I see this as inevitable considering the territory scanner mechanic and how many people are in the larger organizations), there will be no easy way for new players to obtain them without needing to resort to market trade. Even venturing further, the resources are limited.

    Install & Usage:
For the first version, connect the screen first, then up to 9 machines. Screen can be any size.
If you wish to give the machines a custom name:
Right click the programming board and click Edit Lua Script. Click System then the very bottom start, just below update. On line 16 add the names you wish the machines to be called. (See line 17 for examples) Then on line 22 change:
      name[i] = "Machine " .. i to:

--name[i] = "Machine " .. i Finally: Click Apply and restart the programming board.

Using the monitor / databank version:
Connect the screen and databank to the main programming board. (Main PB)
Connect every other programming board to the databank first, then up to 9 machines. (Mach PB)
Turn on all the Mach PB's first, then turn on the Main PB.

The game was meant to be playable offline. That was a promise form the earliest days of the DDFs.  When they tried to sneak the removal of offline mode from the roadmap, the forums went ballistic.

thus they were forced to create private (solo) mode. Effectively an offline mode that still synced with the live galaxy for market prices etc.

what was controversial was that activities by the solo players also influenced the BGS (background simulation) without the soloists being at risk from the hankers.

Despite your random aspersions and attempt to use another game as leverage to assert that your viewpoint here is somehow more valid, FDEV never nerfed anything. Elite was that way from day one at the request of the majority of kickstarter and alpha backers (pvp was listed by less than 20% of the players as a desirable feature in a mega -20k responses- vote.

FDEV stubbornly refused constant and rabbid PvP faction requests to remove solo.

So in actuality, they did the exact opposite of what you claim and never bowed down to player pressure on the role of PvP vs Solo/Private.

fun fact: a lot of pvpers got pissed off because the only other people on their servers by the end of 2018 were other pvpers who would put up too much of a fight and not be the bend-over-and-take-it-like-a-man “soft target” players who just wanted to mine and trade with only a spot of NPC bother from time to time .. many PvPers left after that... shows their character.
so you’re right, I hope NQ DON’T listen to the whiners and whingers and continue to make they game they promised.

GraXXoR reacted to Revelcro in When will the space safe zone be removed?
Said no game company in history.  The game will be designed around those who buy a monthly subscription.  If it turns out to be people who avoid PVP like the plague, expect a lot more safe zones.  If the majority of players play solo or with a small group of friends, expect the game to develop around that.  Even if it cost others a bit of fun in the process.  This isn't an avant garde art project, this is a business.

Gankers and Griefers can make things interesting and add danger to a game that is mostly without active chaotic content (other than bugs).  But they are a extreme minority of the purchasing players.  Give them too much leeway and this game will be deader than Rubies of Eventide.

There is NO PVE other than fighting the laws of physics to get from planet to planet.  Period.  I doubt they could add a PVE element to the game even if they had any interest to.  So this game has to have a PVP aspect, there is no way around that or we will simply run out of content, quickly.  But it is a balancing act, and not an easy one.

Apparently you dont know the definition of griefing. Not even the origin of the word.

    https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=griefing

    1. Purposefully shooting or otherwise sabotaging your teammates in an online game.
    2. In online gaming where one repeatedly killing the same individual or individuals over and over again, or camping their corpse to prevent them from retrieving it, or otherwise performing actions in a game to prevent the player from enjoying the game.
    3. In online gaming, someone who takes pleasure in creating grief for an opponent via various "cheap" tactics.

You are trying to fight on the wrong front. PvP in its current state is a disgrace, and future PvP works is at the bottom of the road map, maybe 12 months from now if they can get everything else ready. I have said this, again, 2526 times on the other threads that you could have posted on, PvP’ers are in for a huge surprise if they get the entire game to open up to PvP minus one moon. There isn’t enough PvP’ers to support this game financially and PvP is not the game, it’s 1/4 of the game, why do you think all the PvP updates are at the bottom of the list..........

Now,  let’s indulge your fantasy for a minute. They open everything to PvP and you confine everyone else to one moon. The lag will be phenomenal, to the point that they will start bleeding subs. They have to provide a place that people can use to build if they choose, fly and test their ships if they choose, without been destroyed the second they enter space.

If you can counter what I have said with a solution on how the 7 of you plan to support the game financially for the years to come, I will never post on this forums again, otherwise, I’m not interested in your destroy everything mentality.

No my answer is if something is so unpopular that they can't get enough people to do it why should it be forced on people.
World of Warcraft learned this when they realised how unpopular PvP servers were and made it opt in, as did Elite Dangerous.

Because it aint, and nobody is apparently building ships for pure PvP to get them destroyed.
As i read this i think the aim is not to have more PvP but to have more targets for free stuff.
DU is not a PvP game, it is a game and has PvP.
DU also does not bring content, It Is Content and the people need to make the story.
Well, i was not planning to put C.A.T.S. AcE into action already but now i think I will have to. For defense of our partners we  build fighters for pure PvP with the sole aim to kill these people who are just waiting for an easy kill. So if your looking to help and defend and are not too lazy to only go for free ships provided but actually work to build your ship, join ushttps://discord.gg/uJXeJ7q  .

I do however share the motion that in beta we already need to have all zones as we will have them after reall launch, And not have them changet at day 1 after launch.

Hold on, if PvP is so highly loved by so many, surely there must be thousands of people feely engaging in PvP, as so many love it.

It’s always fun seeing the PvPers fight for global (universal?) PvP.

In elite, the PvP crowd keep pushing, year after year, to abolish solo mode (solo mode is where you can only meet NPCs) and private group mode (invite only)...

there was a vote on ED which had over 10,000 responses about preferred roles.

exploration, trading, mining were on their own, right out in front with piracy and PvP were miles behind. Yet the PvPers were/are there like mosquitos that don’t go away, trying to force their gameplay style on everyone else.

The seal clubbing (PvPers against noobs) got so bad that FDEV were forced to create a noob only region that further divided the players into separate sandboxes, to the point where you can fly for days and not meet a single soul...

In ED PvP is pointless for anyone not 100% invested in that gameplay style because PvP centric builds will destroy anything even remotely geared towards an actual in game trade like mining or NPC bounty hunting and the only recourse is to keep jumping away from them repeatedly, which gets old real quick...

In the end, it just turns into a toxic farce with the small minority that comprises the PvPers trying to force non PvPers to fight them... and complaining when they are only accompanied by their fellow PvPers (Who they won’t fight because the potential mutual damage incurred and time lost fighting a similarly armed opponent in a PvP centric specialized build would be considered a waste) with no willing victims.

i would be curious to know what percentage of players comprise the PvP centric player base in this game, but I suspect it would be less than 50%.

I wish people would stop thowing their money at stuff without actually researching what it is they are throwing their money at but then expecting to be bailed out....
This is not a scam, they are not "deceiving" this is a beta....

The only thing I take issue with is NQ calling this a beta... A beta is a functionally complete bit of software that is in the lockdown phase (no additional major features) and that should undergo testing for sanity and robustness.... For all intents and purposes, this software is still just as much an alpha as it was 10 days ago.... Calling this a Beta is a marketing rather than a development decision, I'm sure.

So putting these two things together.... The company is playing fast and loose with definitions, (just like everyone does in the modern, post-truth world we live in...)  but also now more than ever, the onus is on the consumer to make sure they don't part with their money unless they are 100% happy to write it off...
