Some people, probably many, paid a year in advance. NQ should refund those who quit because of the wipe.

I loved my debut in DU I found it funny to have to pick up stones and go sell them with a speeder scraping the ground.
But what we have already done once, we do not want to do again. And I won't find it fun to do it again. For me it will be a nightmare.
I've been in the game for about 18 months ... when I started I met other players with big ships that made me dream and therefore move forward.
But I was not jealous, nor envious of those already present before me!!!
When I arrived on Alioth I installed myself ready for Alioth 13 because there was no place next to D6 and then D6 was nothing for me and yet I did not miss anything on the contrary there I had plenty of meganodes and not too much competition.
I waited then one day I had my D6 ready tile because I was smart and patient. Because above all it allowed me to develop a larger factory.
But I was not jealous, nor envious of those already present before me !!! with their great construction ...
All this to tell you that wipe is not a good idea. No one wiped the world when you were born. You have made with this world. New players will too and we will have to help and welcome them, strangely we already do. Tell me if I'm wrong?
With 3 billion quanta or a hundred million it's the same why limit myself? fairer why? because I had to adapt (not without complaining) to a free world where we craft everything without paying in a trade world (which made my fortune) parts that I didn't even make?
Isn't it just because I spent hundreds of hours mining meganodes? Isn't it just because I've been paying my subscription for 18 months?

So as we come back to earth with the subscription, I only have one life and it's too short to do things twice! I did not want to redo DU from the beginning because it will be without pleasure without discovery to try to regain what was taken from me so for me any form of wipe will be equivalent to canceling my subscription.
This why? to hide a lack of renewal in the game? And after, the new ones who will arrive, those according to the old new players, what do we do ?we wipe the wipe in a loop?
Why remove schematics? they are expensive so it takes playtime for the acquirers. This is the basis of MMOs "the  long time"!! maybe simplify them (an object = a schematic)... And still it's not an idea because already adults can't understand that selling your ore is more profitable than selling manufactured items for less expensive than the ore in it.
Why remove broke  from elements? It was enough to place sanctuary and the markets in a non-collision zone and to drop the wreckage so that the less fortunate had solutions by recovering parts. But no, get out! because putting this in place when all the markets were lagging and skills were crashing was crashing our ships. So we grumbled
why limit the number of cores which prevents the collection of ships? and so made the game work! It was enough to modify the Blueprint to spawn the chips in limited numbers on a platform of the player's tile as if he were taking his ship out of a garage and storing it (blueprint with the material) to take out another one from his collection. .. But no it is better to lose players !!!
What could be better than a collection of ships to increase the interest of a game, trade, construction, exchange, manufacture of parts...!!! Possession of items a good way to retain players.
Just a succession of bad choices that you at Novaquark have made !!!

A Wipe will not weaken large organizations and you know it. They will "speedrun" the game and finally resume their place as before and all this will have been for nothing.

Eventually even the most relentless and passionate players you will manage to make them leave !!!

    NO WAY FOR WIPE !!!!

Nota : the worst is that you ruin my desire to play! so make up your mind !

Basically any form of wipe after telling us no for 2 years, and id walk away. I don't see any path of fair restitution for ripping out of my hands everything i worked for without using exploits or shady bullshit since beta start when NQ told us no further wipe. i didn't like schematics at first, but its a reasonable mechanic that i work well with for my usage/needs now and could be handled by throttling them like using industry skills. but taking away what I've built in 2 years, which with current systems would take nearly 3 years to replace. And honestly wiping to give a level playing field will only make a difference for a month at best, before the knowledgeable people are back in a position of power

I'm not unique in my opinion, and NQ will have to consider how many people will continue to play, or just give up and walk away because they were lied to. I backed in alpha so i haven't paid money monthly, but i would of been happy to of for all this time to aid in the games support.

Its a no to reset as  I have played the game for 5 hours per day for over 12 months (over 2000 hours), to get resources and warp cell factory up and running etc, i would have to quit and go back to eve if I lost all that time and effort.

After all the things. actually i'd just leave if there was a wipe. seriously, look at teh mega factories. The investments in the schematics. The time and faith of the community to provide content.

Resounding naw, Im out. Gimme monies back pls.

The billionaire things was fixed with athena I think and the new "way" for more schematics and rarity of plas.

Hundreds of paid accounts no longer paying.  Less money for NQ
Empty worlds with no constructs... sounds fun.
Many existing players offer help to new players in financial and advice... gone.

I have never read a bigger pile of one-sided bullsh*t basically advocating for full wipe in order to easily do away with schematics.  Just announce the decision and get it over with.

At beginning of beta it was announced "no more wipes except as required for updates" (like the mining update that was done).  So if NQ do decide to wipe, it would be yet another promise broken.  This also completely ignores that people have been paying monthly to play...

As for "removing unfair advantage" and "level playing field". These are fallacies to help people sleep better at night.  The players with the know how will return to the positions of abundance they have now in short order.   There will always be "haves" and "have nots".   All a wipe does is a slap in the face of the people that put time into the game after being told a wipe would not happen.

Make a system that creates schematics rather than remove them.  The problem with schematics, like the markets, is that they do not give player agency.  A player cannot make a schematic at all, they have to be bought.  Make science research a thing.

Cons for wipe have already been mentioned:   As I said, the "NQ thoughts" are heavily aligned to a wipe disregarding promises and small details like leaving an empty world, avid supporters of the game just leave, and paying customers just get their stuff removed.

What a wipe also does is remove the history of DU such as it is... like Thoramine.  Deleting a piece of DU history like that is unforgivable.

May be, but i'm playing MMOs for over 20 years now and i don't remember a single one, where players payed a subscription fee during a beta. Most other games have beta testing phases for some weeks to fix bugs, the servers are on and off, not running constantly.
That's the one big difference. If there has'nt been the message "we don't want to do a wipe, except there is no other way to solve massive technical issues" i never would have startet this game or invested so much time and effort.

And after a year has passed another wipe? I don't get it - players which enter a game at a random point in time allways will be behind those who have been playing it before them. This game is meant to be a persistent and evolving sandbox. When you subscribe to EVE today you are behind people playing it for 19+ years.
No. I'm still very interested in playing this game, Only the uncertainty regarding a possible wipe is currently keeping me from pursuing several of my open projects further.
If they gonna wipe i'm done with this game, allready canceled the automatic subscription prolonging.

No rush to answer the wipe question from me. If there's a wipe and I lose my hard-earned stuff, then I won't be continuing. Really keen to play this game for many more years, but absolutely will not start from scratch again.

Can someone help me understand what it is a new player is excluded from when they join the existing game?  What content does the existing game world prohibit a new player from doing?   I hear this talk about letting people get a fresh start and a new release so everyone has an equal advantage or whatever... but I haven't heard what it is these new players wouldn't be able to do?   How does one "win" DU and if there is no "winning" then how can there be an advantage?

What i wish NQ would do when changing basic core mechanics or limits like it is the case for each update lately:
instead of throwing something out in a devblog to all, then receiving the hell of a shitstorm and then react and go back to the design table and leaving the playerbase wounded and demotivated.
Talk to us first,  i bet if you would have asked any senior player about the core limit , you could have avoided the shitstorm.
if you want constructive feedback let us now what the problem is you are trying to solve. you have a lot of game knowledge out there. we are the ones playing the game more than probably most of the NQ employees. so we might have good ideas. but to come out with potential solution ideas we need the problem statement first.
is it about server storage costs?
    is it about network trafic?
is it about client limitations when rendering?
what are the problems, what is the data behind it.

i bet there are a lot of players like me who would happily think about it and come up with ideas. but just asking for feedback on an upcoming core limitation does not give me enough data to properly think about the problem itself and propose good potentiality working ideas.

So pls involve us. use us. but put a bit more on the table and preferable before creating damage by coming up with something that first sound like a final decision.

I know that many folks have already chimed in on the topic of core restrictions, but I'm going to add mine to the mix...NQ-Deckard asked us to comment, so here it goes.

I'm new to DU, I didn't play during Alpha or early Beta due to limitations with my hardware, but once I had the financial ability to upgrade my system I did - the very first thing I did was install Dual Universe and get started. I've only been playing for about 3 months now - but learning curve aside and minor bugs here and there I've had a great time.

I came for the mining - but shortly after I got going that was removed. Boo.
I moved to asteroids, but the ore market had tanked so I fired up as many MUs as I could. Still earning quanta was slow, but damn...I love this game. The visuals and the ability to literally do anything kept me around daily.

So I spent time learning how to build ships and other things, diving into voxelmancy and coming up with things to build and maybe sell...plus some grandiose plans for a massive base in the mountains. So I claimed numerous tiles to get started...taxes came.

Still, I pulled it together and kept things rolling. I hatched numerous plans and started building up my base and other projects. I felt the most creative that I've felt in MANY years. I was happy and being productive and more importantly learning and enjoying myself.

Whoa! The vertex precision toll is on the horizon! Awesome, some very difficult to do voxel things I had planned will be easier...but wait...core limitations arrive.

As a solo-player running his own org with no other members this means that I'm restricted to just 25 constructs. Uhm. How is that supposed to work? My MUs total 6 core already, I have 4 ships currently and a base that is 6-7 cores currently, plus other constructs on the base. I'm near to the max already...and haven't even begun ship building projects or my mega base.

To say that I'm disappointed and depressed over this planned change would be an understatement. In the very short time I've been in DU I've become very addicted to it and play every single days - for hours. But after this devblog was published I haven't logged in once. Why bother? My mega base will never become a reality, my current base building must stop - and even be shrunken down if I want to build any ships - or set up any more MUs.

I've worked in the software development/Engineering space for over 20 year. During which time I've seen my small application grow from 50,000 clients to over 1 million. During those years we've had MANY challenges and hit the wall on server and software limitations numerous times.

Do you know how we handled it? We increased our server(s) memory/CPU/storage, and when that cap was being reached we expanded our server farm. *WE* the organization delivering the service(s) to our clients took the costs of expanding, maybe prices to our clients were increased a little to compensate, but *never once did we say to our clients, "Sorry, but we can't handle you using our application the way it was designed for you to use it. You need to limit your usage.* Not once did that thought ever come into our minds.

Why? Because it's not good business. Period. The day you ask your clients to adjust to your shortcomings and limitations in that manner is the day that they stop being your clients.

I totally understand your limitations and sympathize with your plight, but please - a change like this totally kills any chance for solo players to do anything creative in the game. At the very least increase the max to 50 constructs per player and a base of 50 for orgs. A limit of 100 constructs is bad, but it's a whole lot better than 25 - and something I can plan around.

Thank you for considering this request. I still love DU and have high hopes for it, but right now I'm concerned for it's longevity. The outcry among the player base is quite dramatic.

    Good luck.

Additional thoughts: Abuse is likely and possible

If I happen to know that some org, which is no longer active, will run out of slots, I could donate my own slots to that org.  Then whenever I feel that they won't login for 2 weeks, after the grace period, I revoke the slots I gave them and wait for their constructs to become mine, since only I know when they'll become available

Or another example, say I'm the only legate in an org that has some slots given by other players.  I go on vacation, or don't login to DU, for 2 or more weeks - Anyone aware of my vacation could move their slots to another org, then wait around and steal whatever becomes unclaimed (or just reallocate them to grief, and not steal anything)

This is giving random players way too much control over whether or not orgs can actually keep the things they built or not

Maybe i dont understand something... how could this benefit smaller orgs ? Its the absolute opposite...

I have 4 payed accounts, and it would still make me reduce my Base and constuctions.... If this goes live in the way you planing its game over for me. Not because i want, i love the game.... it will simple stop me from playing the game.... stoping player from building and creating in a building and creating game is not a good idea....

If you want to stop orgs from building to much (95% of the world is emty already after last update) then make the limit large enough, so small orgs do not have to reduce thier builds.

100 per Player should be the minimum you should consider. Not everyone has free alfa keys to boost the personal org limits...

The last updates i could follow your reasons, to make the game better. But this time is no real gameplay reason, the game gets worsed. Spliting my constructs on all accounts and handle with this rights system and reduce my buildings.... there is absolute no reason that could justify this change.

Make it smart or dont touch it, it will stop player from playing. I do not want a game were i can only have industry buildings. I want to be creativ, work on large project and fill the world with life.
If i build a large runway, the half of my cores are used already for one char... thats ridiculous
