Now just extend that to the entire development period of the game, and you have the reason why this game is struggling.

The unbalanced economy is a symptom of larger issues with the game's design (or lack thereof) as it always has been.

Personally, I don't think NQ has the design vision to ever fix it. Demeter was the final proof that NQ doesn't have a skilled game designer on staff.

As I've said before, NQ still operates like DU is in early alpha. They throw things into production, say "it's just a first version", then adjust the entire game's design reactively...with infrequent patches and no communication in between.

This would be frustrating even for a single player game, but as a paid subscription MMO? It's not sustainable.

They will never have balance in the economy when they develop the game as they do.

Crude, reactive design will only produce a balanced economy by accident, and even then it will be rapidly destabilized by the next change...if they are going to stick with business as usual, their velocity of patches needs to be much, much faster.

IMO, before DU's economy can mature, NQ as an organization has to mature -- they need to have a real design plan instead of developing DU as if it is still a prototype.

    I am pro PvP.
But we must leave this protected zone space represented by Alioth - Madis - Thades.
DU is a creative game and a space game, you need a place where they can fly without PvP.
    HOWEVER :
    - PvP is needed on the outer rim planets this year
    - full PvP: from space to land action.
    - And remove the T3 / T4 / T5 asteroids which spawn towards the security zone. Any fight must take place far from it.
With this the PvP community will already have a lot to do and we will have a start in the economy.
Once this first thing in place we can talk about it again.

I keep trying to find information by looking in the Codex (F1)

Why doesn't the Codex contain all the information we need to know about the new mining units?

How long does it take to go from 100% calibration to 0%?

Do the big rocks generated on calibration stay on your tile until someone surface-harvests them?

Do the small mining units work on other planets? or are they only for use on Sanctuary?

Do the Large mining units work on Sanctuary?

Is it possible to use mining units for the T2 ores on Sanctuary?

Why is the Cone probe so inaccurate?

Please could the codex contain information about how to read the various screens on the mining units?

What does 12/113 l/hr actually mean?

Why is there no adjacency bonus for tiles on Sanctuary if our neighbouring tiles are our friends (Friendly Territory) ?

Is there an adjacency bonus if our neighbours on other planets are "Friendly Territories"?

What does the "Base Rate" refer to?

What does the "Efficiency" refer to?

Is it possible to see how many calibration charges we have generated without activating a mining unit? If so, how?

Please put all the information into the Codex so that it is easy to look it up whilst playing the game without having to google or scroll through pages of forums to find out what we wish to know.

And this is where your argument falls apart, at least as far as I'm concerned.
The only limits on "what you can become" in real life, is your ambition, hard work and determination.
Every time you tell yourself "I could never do that", you create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Disclaimer: this obviously does not extent to achievements that are not within your biological abilities, but anything other than that is fair game.

What I loved about this game and I really mean loved, is the fact I could start on a tile, mine the 4 basic rocks and turn that into a base, then that base could become a factory and start producing ship parts and I could build that ship and fly to space without ever leaving that tile. The only thing I would need is a core or 2 but really that's it. That concept is really attractive to me.

In a sense, I am self reliant and I honestly dont think that's an issue. It's the way I wanted to play before 0.23 and I dont want to be forced to play together. (I'm not opposed to it, just the forced play style)

Either i can build "everything" myself or I wont play the game so is the game better off without me? Is NQ better off with one less sub?

The mistake NQ makes is looking across the whole game and making decisions that fit their way of playing instead of a case by case basis.

It really comes down to a player and if I want to build everything and I can't, is the game better without me? I'm not sure how it is but I'm sure many will disagree.

Everyone playing in the same universe, and the building, are what brought everyone who's already here.  Remove that, and there's nothing that hasn't already been done.

So i'm not sure what you are proposing that would pay the bills...

The game needs more, not less.

Imagine how boring DU would become if they restrict players more on how to play, as wanted by the op. If I do PvP I want to be able to craft Exotic weapons and also mine my ore for it and later be able to also build a ship. Idk if it is only me but it's how I think it should be.

and there my friend, I am sorry to tell you, you are wrong.

    It is all about psychology.

There is a huge difference between

    - if you define the base yield at 100% and punish the player when he is not calibrating

    versus

    - if you calibrate nicely, you are rewarded and get more than 100%.

see the difference ? Its called motivation.
All game loops should be designed to be motivating.
If they are not, the game designer failed.

    Yes and no.

In persistent sandbox like DU veterans always have advantage in some areas.
    - game is very complex, so learning all details takes very long time

How ever in sandbox like DU you set your own goals. So setting them suitable for your personal level, you will be fine.
Only One who may have advantage over you is yourself.

Kurosawa reacted to Zarcata in Mining Units: A weeklong in-depth review
    It's interestingly written, right.
Please note that this comparison is made with at least 3 accounts, which is operated by this player. So is it intentional to use multiaccounts to get such advantages in the game as a result?
So through this he gets the 60% area and the others with 30% to reach these values with very high skills. So considering that he can get out more because he uses multiple accounts and even says he has them with about 50Million skill points. I find the values not particularly good, considering how long new players will need to skill everything through.
So in the end he calls 5,000,000 per area at 1,000,000tax per area. I find that sufficient for now. At the same time, however, frightening, because this is only possible because he plays with several accounts and spends at least 90 minutes a day calibrating them and does not play at all. Many players have 90 minutes a day of pure gameplay, so it's not even possible for them to fully miner for 90 minutes or even run this calibration game in this mass.
So when do we get to enjoy this game with game content?
From all the text and calculations, thank you yes. But it also shows how dull and boring the Demeter game is and the direction it will go. Have you read the whole text?

Get ready for my rant.... 3.. 2.. 1..

Hi there, I am wondering if the community has changed.
From artistic builders to people who only want to make money or destroy things.

I see a lot of chatting going around, it only is about how much money you can make with the new mining units. Nobody talks about a building project or anything. New players come into this game and I only see them chat about how to make quanta. Its all about which tile brings in the most quanta, not even if it has a great view, a nice river or anything. They might as well just have flat surface planets because people dont seem to care. I have NEVER seen anyone chat about how this unlimited ore can help you with your giant build project.

Its all about quanta, quanta, quanta. People who are making billions, and for what, retirement?
This is a voxelbuilding game with superior voxel-tools and lots of players are only talking about how to make quanta.
And what will they do with all that quanta? Nobody knows
With all this unlimited free ore, sanct should be looking like coresant in a few months, but Im sure that will not be the case. People will only sell ore, it is not meant for building anymore.

Talking about making money so much, that NQ is even considering a wipe now, and lots of peeps are like: no biggie, as long as i can keep my bp's (and with bp's, they mean a bp for a hauler to make money). NQ can consider a wipe, because the majority dont seem to care about builds.
In that perspective, NQ was right to implement taxes. If that is what the majority of the community wants to do (make money), then NQ has given those players a purpose.

And this is a voxelBUILDING game, so whats this complaining about PVP? Why do people enter a building game, only wanting to destroy things?
Because it is not about building or design, its about assembling the most powerful destroyer possible. Not even the best looking or anything, just to be useful and destroy as much possible.

And that is, for me, the reason I cancelled my sub. Not just because of how demeter or NQ changed the game, but also because I do not feel at home between these money grabbers and destroyers. This is just not my kind of game anymore. Im sure that if I come back and take a peek after 8 months or so, there are less builds then there are now! And thats a very amazing trick that NQ has pulled of in a persistent voxelbuilding universe!!

No offence to anyone, we are all different people.
