"Hello everyone, Sylva, leader of Band Of Outlaws here.

This thread, the official DU discord and the Memeserver have all gotten a lot of traffic and I thought I would drop by and leave some of my thoughts here for you all. I acknowledge and understand that the Star Wars fans who created the event feel that we, BOO and some of our allies, when crashing their event yesterday, "ruined it." And yes, Skilo has it right when he says that we did it because we could. Those of you who are arguing against the Star Wars IP being in the game... well, tbh, I love Star Wars, it has inspired more than one generation of space dreamers, and hopefully, many more to come. That having been said, there is more to this story (and hopefully, for the story of Dual Universe).

We originally had someone sign up for the Star Wars event who was building a legit PvP meta Star Wars ship. At the time, I was advised that we were also giving info to the Star Wars group on how to build PvP meta ships, and that advice was generally not followed/heeded. As the date loomed closer it became apparent that the ship, according to our standards, was only about 10% complete, and so our member withdrew from the Star Wars event.

We then heard that ATOM was being paid to provide security for the event, and that was when we decided to party crash it.

The thing is, when you look at what Dual Universe intends to be, a civilization building game - there should, in my opinion, player made safe zones in which events like this could be held in. This is an event that you would hold in the heart of an area that has an enforced edge of space, so pirate incursions would be few and far between (and not be without repercussions). We very much support this. We expect to be hunted down because of our actions. We will be disappointed if we aren't.

We already don't hunt the small fries. We already do not pursue freighters and small ships. We have historically only hunted the larger org tagged ships. Our groups already PvP against each other. We haven't done a PvP event since the End of the World event in December. Since then we have only had solos and small groups go out for PvP, which has still been few and far between. Mostly we have been doing the same as everyone else, recovering from the .23 patch, mining, industry, and building more ships. We got bored. We crashed the party and ruined a lot of hard work, and for what? Some laughs... and hoping to fight some ATOM and some hopefully buffed Star Wars capital ships.

As to the idea of waiting for DU to grow more... you may very well get what you request. BOO has diversified our gaming interests. We are playing Valheim, Starbase, and Last Oasis in addition to Dual Universe now. Don't worry though, we're still around and will still be active in Dual Universe. We will sporadically come out and throw down. So try to be prepared for us. Build meta ships. Bring your friends. You don't know when we will strike.

The game "From the depths" has rotating and piston sub constructs. Not only that but those sub constructs can also have their own subconstructs.

I would not disregard the possibility of NQ using the "we need AVA for TW" spin to push TW beyond release as well to be honest.. While I think it would be not great for the game to do so, I can also see valid arguments to support that change provided NQ moved to implement TW/AVA as the first major expansion after "release"

It may well create a lot of room and time for them to ensure the remaining parts of the game to be properly implemented before the end of this year. It would basically mean they swap out TW with the new solar system which they committed themselves to prior to release in order to not do the wipe for the new planet tech.

    What I expect will happen..

    Territory Warfare:
TU protects tile, constructs anywhere on the claimed tile (in, on or above ground) can't be attacked while TU is active TU can only be attacked when at least one surrounding tile is not claimed or is claimed by attacker Attacking a TU will trigger a timer which, if NQ does their usual of following EVE mechanics, will allow the TU owner to set a date/time (within a set timeframe) for the combat to commence/continue. I could NQ see copy the whole vulnerability window as well
    AVA:
not until after release.. I'd guestimate that AVA is at least 18 months away

ELX987 reacted to Demlock in Territorial Warefare... a burning topic that shouldn't be half-baked
Usually when there's territorial warfare, the act of capturing a base may start from the air or very far away. As time goes on the Area of interest may become contested by various means.
However, at the end of the day, capturing anything terrestrial usually ends with ground forces... This being tanks to weaken a base and the internal dirty work being done by foot soldiers who will get into CQC situations to capture the buildings of the base.

The fact that NQ brought up territorial war fare when there's been little to no conversation of AvA worries the absolute crap out of me.

As in, atmospheric combat... I'm afraid... because there's no AvA... will result in yet another poorly executed patch release that will do little to bring back the community if the 0.24 and 0.25 patches actually get pulled off well enough.

I'm sorry to break this to you NQ but if you instill territorial war fare without AvA the PvP crowd... the literal thousands of people who are waiting for this game to add in the true aspects that they're willing to throw their money at, will not get on board. Adding AvA AFTER launch will just add more fuel to the fire in ways NQ doesn't need especially when NQ is already in deep need to start generating some real cash-flow during beta.

As far as Territorial war fare PVP goes, AvA is absolutely critical and is the final stage of capturing land.

To add in Territorial war fare and NOT have AvA with at least pistols and rifles would be like building a car but leaving out the engine.

You want to bring in the money from the EvE crowd when adding in territorial warfare? Don't half-ass it. Do it right and as thoroughly as you reasonably can or you'll just get more bad publicity keeping the gaming crowd (and their money) away from DU.

    ^^ source article

Buffed.de, mostly known for WOW articles, has written a few pieces on DU before, and have been mostly positive. However, I and a few friends saw a part in a translated version of this article that stated something that could bring a set of attention to DU that is not needed at this time, that is until NQ fix their game.

1st section: "the world comes alive":

"Although the rush was already high at the beginning of the beta phase, more and more players were added over time and slowly but surely filled the world of Dual Universe. That had several positive effects on the game. For one thing, the world feels much more alive now. We no longer only encounter strange players in the central marketplaces of Alioth, the largest of the planets, but everywhere in the universe. Even the tiny moons of smaller planets on the edge of the solar system are now well populated."

keep in mind this was written on 02/13/2021, and right now that 3rd sentence cannot be any more wrong, alioth is a ghost town, madis and thades are abandoned, and any other planet besides maybe ion and lacobus have basically no inhabitants. That is all because of .23 and the major screw up NQ had. i might be blowing it out of proportion, but you get the jist'.

2nd section: "Large organizations have grown":

"But it's not just the individual players that make the world come alive. Giant organizations have been set up and grown over the months. Huge factories that produce spaceships on an assembly line and are operated by dozens of players are not uncommon. Huge freight transporters fly from moon to moon with a crew of several men, buy cheap resources there and deliver them to the many thousands of players who have established their home on Alioth. There is organized trade, a flourishing industry, and the first political intrigues between the largest of the organizations."

"giant organizations"... what, like 100-200 active players making up 5 different major orgs? compared to the 30K ish+ we had since launch in total? (in reference to sanc moon tiles), if you go to any market in the game, even the district markets on alioth, they are all dead, no one visits them anymore.

3rd section: "Schematics ensure more trade"

"The schematics in particular are responsible for the flourishing of trade. In the alpha and at the beginning of the beta, everyone was still able to produce everything, provided they had the resources and had the appropriate industrial equipment built beforehand, is no longer possible. More complex modules, which you cannot manufacture in your personal nanocrafter, but only in industrial plants, now require a so-called schematic. This is practically a set of instructions that you can use to explain to your industrial plant which module is manufactured and how. Without a schematic, even the most sophisticated production line is just a pile of scrap metal. You can get the schematics on the marketplaces for a chunk of the in-game currency Quantas. The more complex the module, the more expensive the schematic. You also need a separate schematic for each system. Anyone who wants to manufacture silicon from quartz in ten melting systems not only needs ten systems, but also ten schematics - which can quickly turn into money in large factories."

Excuse me, what? Anyone who has played the game most likely quit over schematics, or permanent destruction. why? schematics are 1. expensive, 2. tedious to setup, and 3. has almost entirely killed production of any goods not tier one. when schematics came out, a 7m item (anti-gravity generator S) had a schematic required to build it worth hundreds of millions, now that schematic is worth 76m as of the time of writing this, 10x the items worth is fair, ok, but the way they implemented them was ridiculous.

you can read more on the article and see for yourself, but here is something i noticed, none of that was labeled as opinion...

i have the feeling this was a commissioned article by NQ to Buffed.de, if it was, I read someone say that its illegal by German law to publish paid pieces, however i may be incorrect. (correction, if the article is noty labeled as a sponsored article and its found out to be then it is illegal, no where on the article does it mention sponsorship)

regardless of the legality, NQ needs to come clean because if this was paid that is scummy, make me feel like this game was a cash grab.
NQ I'm begging you, come clean and stop hiding that your game is dying, you still have a chance to dig out of the hole you made, please!

Additionally, as this thread was shared internally I have received a response regarding the validity of the claims presented here: "I can confirm that we did not pay anything. We're not even in contact with this journalist."

This publication created a feature without our involvement, and it's clear to anyone reading that they're not up to speed on what's actually happening inside of Dual Universe as of 2021-02-16. ?‍♀️

Feel free to disregard the article, or just enjoy it for a laugh if you'd like.

Its actualy not first time DU marketing likely cheating.

Initialy I noticed this during Alpha with Twitter (and tried make some noise), yet this was quickly dusted under carpet.

Remember another false advert trailer "This is Dual Universe" (no its not) released on 29 april 2020? One week before it, DU Twitter (for most part dead thing as you can see) was obviously pumped up with some non-organic paid followers.

Currently, DU Twitter (being still dead and badly/non creativly managed) loosing subs organicly:
    https://socialblade.com/twitter/user/dualuniverse/monthly

But, if pattern still here, we can even accuratly predict new trailers/big news/things to be released week or so before, when some magical pumping occurs again.

Question is if this is known to JC, or this more of spec ops to give boss nicer reports.

I would guestimate, based on the claimed tiles on Sanctuary in relation to existing backers and their beta key holders being probably in the 30K-ish, that at best the actual  sub count for DE never peaked above 10K and is currently well below 5K

I am in line with most of whats being said in here so far, but getting a boost on Subs before the Release to me sounds more like a natural thing. It was the time the magazines, just like the one we talk about in this thread, had Dual Universe in the news and in Articles, and that leads to follower who want to stay informed if they are interested in the game. I was one of them, so to say.

DU was already "sorted out" and became "something maybe interesting" that time for me, because of some things written on the DU-Homepage I thought will be different (and it turns out it will, but thats another story).

If there are 400k jumping into beta, I would expect a huge raise in followers on Twitter etc. upfront. If those numbers are correct, which I dont know, havent played the first 4 weeks of alphabeta
