admsve reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in [Guidelines] Public Test Server Feedback
    Dear Noveans,

With the opening of the Public Test Server (PTS) available to all DU players come a few guidelines, if you want to give some feedback.
We wanted - for a long time - to give the opportunity to anyone among you to give your opinion on features before they hit the Live Server.
However, as the time window to give feedback on new features deployed on the PTS will be usually limited, it's important to get structured feedback to be taken into account by the Devs, in order to make possible changes before deploying the said features on the Live Server. Note: having a new or modified feature deployed on the PTS doesn't necessarily mean that the same will be deployed on the Live Server. Community feedback may change the Dev Team course of action.

In order to facilitate the follow-up of your feedback by the Dev Team, it's really important to talk about one topic/feature per forum thread.
Additionally it's highly advised to follow the template below when giving feedback on a specific topic/feature deployed on the PTS:

Naming clearly the feature / game mechanics involved. Your feedback on the deployed feature (what you like / what you don't like about it (in this case, please give an explanation why you don't like it)). What kind of improvement you would see for such feature.
If your feedback is about a bug report, please follow this template:

Subject: [BUG] <Issue name here> Current Version Number: <Can be seen when closing the client> Impact: <Game breaking / Crash / Corruption / Item/Data loss / Inconvenience / Cosmetic> Summary: <Short outline of the issue> Description: <Description of the issue> Reproduction: <Steps taken to make this bug happen>
Reminder: there will be no official support for the PTS.
This means you can report bugs you found/experienced on the PTS (preferably in this forum section).
It's encouraged to report bugs found on the PTS, to make sure they won't be replicated once the involved feature will be deployed on the Live Server.
However, do not send tickets to the Customer Support to fix issues you encountered on the PTS.
Why no support? The reason is quite simple: in their experimental state, things may be broken.
The Novaquark Team prefer to allocate 100% of the Customer Support resources to the Live Server, where the "real game" happens.

We hope you'll understand our stance on the matter.

    Best Regards,
    The Novaquark Team.

It would be compacted but you would not be able to deploy them anywhere except the original destination that it was auto compacted. Traveling with your compacted ship would be useless as you would have to go back to the area where it was parked to re-deploy it.

Add Territory Units to map menu so i can set way points.
    Separate Construct/Ships in Map menu.
Bookmarks/Constructs/Ships should always be sorted by closest distant or add a filter so I can pick to show by planet, distant, org, or by player.
If I'm on my ship and the game crashes for whatever reason I should be placed back in my seat if the seat is not in use.
Constructs at markets should be compacted after x days and can only be re-deployed in the same area where it was compacted.
If advertisement is the goal at markets have players pay for advertisement spots at markets and only allow 1 advertisement per org or player. Have players be able to outbid advertisement spots at markets.
Enable better notification or a better system to allow docking. For example, in my ship if I hit P it will notify me or display that I am now docked to X ship and to hit P again to undock.
Expand parking at markets and charge people quanta for parking. If they don't want to pay have them park on the grass.
Be able to search scanner results in inventory by Planet.
Have a bag/separate tab for territory scans in the inventory menu.
Create/Separate Public/NQ Support channel in game. Everyone talking in the support channel makes it hard for people trying to talk to NQ in-game.
Make it possible to narrow the  ore scanner to just the node your currently on. This could be a toggle option.

Title pretty much spells it out. I imagine its already been suggested but i've not seen it anywhere (not that i've looked all that hard) but currently i like the scan results thingy in the map but having to have them in your inventory really sucks when you're working with other miners in the same area.

If you want to have people working together rather than as singletons it makes sense to allow players to coordinate their efforts more easily rather that all just running off in different directions

also can we please have the ability to annotate or rename scan results...i'm pretty sure i have seen that suggested but i figured asking twice is better than not at all

This thread was not a respectful request to reposition the ideas box Blaze. Pull the other one mate. It was yet another, hardly even veiled, insult at the way a company does their business. It's just so unbelievably boring to keep seeing this fashion of:

'look how bold I am that I openly insult the company on their own forum. I'm such a straight talking, badass, computer game nerd. If they would only let me dictate the future of the game it would stand a chance. But alas, they are all ignorant'

I know the peanut gallery here has seen it all for too long and are never going to be satisfied with what NQ does, I get it. But it is boring. It detracts from all the people's enjoyment who are quite happy with the game and are also happy to let a company do what they want. Maybe I am old fashioned, but when I was a gamer you bought a game in a box from the shop on floppy disc or later CDROM. You didn't get to complain and dictate how the developer should do things. You either liked it, or you put it in the cupboard and learnt your lesson.

It's really simple. If I enjoy the game, I play it. If I do not enjoy it...I stop playing it.

All this corrosive, entitled behaviour is so amazingly boring by now. Posturing about 'how the game is going to fail' because they 'didn't listen to me, John Smith, the computer games design master typing from his bedroom' . I am not having a go at you personally Blaze, got nothing against you at all. I'm just tired of this horseshit attitude from a large section of this forum.

It's just boring. I've only been here a few months and I find it incredibly tedious to see every day.

I am absolutely not surprised that the people actually developing the game ignore us here.

admsve reacted to Sabretooth in A credible source said DU might wipe, heres the reasoning as well as my thoughts
I think its the most stupid thing ever: a wipe. You mean to tell me that all the time we said: no kids/wife/friends, dad/buddy is playing a game right now is for nothing. My friends/kids/wife have waited for me for absolutely nothing?
Not even hours but days and even weeks spend here and all that time is wasted? You have paid money to waste your own time and after that pay to do the same thing again? You gain nothing of a wipe. Its not like SE or another game that you still have your ships and you can just load them in the new game.

Why are so many people asking for a wipe?
Are those people who have too much time on their hands?
Are those people who are spoiled and dont have jobs? (too tired to play after your job so when you do log in its precious time)

I dont get it, why would you ask to throw everything away you have build?
I think its because some are too greedy. With a wipe they can have an even better start and get even more precious ore than before because now they have a plan!
A wipe is for greedy & jealous people, thats for sure!! Everyone who asks for a wipe will be here on the first day after the wipe. None of them will wait a month or 2 and then join the game again, Im certain of that!
I dont care that my neighbours car is bigger than mine, I dont care that he just got it because of his purple skin colour. I have my own life that Ive got to build.

Greedy people, go build something instead of just wanting and hogging everything and do nothing with your 200 containers full of stuff. And if you want a wipe (start over) so bad, just get a new account and start the game fresh, or give away all your stuff and start out fresh. If anything has to be wiped, it is yourself. Dont force it upon others.

    and breathe.....

    Last updated July 13th  2022

As reporting a bug usually is a process with no feedback and as picking talents usually means hoping they actually work, here is a public bug list. If you want anything added, please describe them clearly. No need to be salty towards me, I am just the salty guy who wants them fixed or at least known, too.
Do not spread exploits. There are plenty of exploits, I would love to make them all public for a level playing field, but it is against the TOS. So as I want to keep my list, please no exploit talk at all!

    Talent related:

    Crafting

-plenty of text is wrong, like exceptional parts manufacturer claiming to decrease crafting time for functional parts, it works however.
-[tier] product refining description is for honeycomb, but works .

    Piloting

-increasing foil lift via piloting talents (not handling) do not change sustentation speed(with full talents your true sust speed is therefore 82% of what is displayed)

    Gameplay related

    Industry/crafting

-So many more unknown server errors leading to random machine stops, especially after maintenance
-HC nanocrafter inconsistencies, like galvanized black iron can not be nanocrafted
-t2+ Hovers and Boosters have the schematic price|craft duration|assembler need|materials needed of the of the one bigger version. In other words, while basic verts and hovers L cost as much as an M engine, t2+hovers and boosters L cost as much as an L engine of the same tier. Likely caused by the mixed naming conventions for all elements

    Ships/piloting

-Diagonal (as seen from the front) elements add crosssection based on their max coordinates they cover. As in, the game checks the difference between their highest and lowest X value, highest and lowest Z value, multiplies them, and that is the cross section of the element. In simpler terms: If you place a wing diagonally, in order to get a little lift and a little stabilization, it has as much cross section as an upright, rectangular box that covers it.
-Elements also have different cross section depending on where exactly they are, a horizontal Wing S does not add to cross section if placed on a z coordinate ending on .5
-configuring pilot seat resets connections and autoconnects different parts. Sadly never my gyro.
-When the default configuring has too many possible links, it states it skips autoconnection, but instead just connects as much as it can and then continues. I wish it actually did skip auto connect.
-Airbrakes produce a down (relative to craft) force when active. To repro, just glide down while holding brakes and pitch down about 45° (brakeland, while facing downwards).
-Cruise control can hold retro brake active at close to zero speed, compared to holding breakes manually (test by comparing normal brake holding, 6km over Alioth, vs cruise control set to zero).
-Collisions with environment are checked client side, same for mass of construct, position etc.
-As long as you are above 3420meter (space engine can activate) and 6270 meters (space engine generally can be active at 100%) your space engines only generate as much power, as your atmo engines facing the same direction have max power. Cruise control does not have the issue. (numbers used for Alioth)
-G-values in build helper do not factor in docked constructs
-the build helper function that shows blind passengers can be bypassed
-Landing with a tilted core craft which has a docked construct often leads to fun explosions.

    Trade/markets

-Notifications do not include size of item (can be found in the log though, press "O").
-"View market page" only works for items in the market container

    Other UI

-Setting something as destination while in VR often gives wrong position once out of VR.
-opening a notification log with more than 10k entries freezes the game for seconds, it re-freezes every time a new notifaction pops up while notifications still open, until you finally manage to set it to "last 24h" or similar.
Update, notifications now get auto deleted regulary.
-Bookmarks, pffff. Somebody ping me if they properly work, I will stop checking.
-trying to put something into a full container displays message "not enough space in active container"

    Other

-using a LUA parameter with a decimal comma instead of decimal point (damn Germans) will ignore the comma and the numbers behind it, run normal otherwise but the LUA parameter will not be displayed anymore to be edited, as the the whole export part is skipped, too. (LUA issue, not DU specific, DU should still throw an error).
-canopy windshield triangle M and L have wrong mass and volume.
-"brick product" is called "brick honeycomb"
-VR Stations, gunner or pilot seats, get stuck on "in use" and can not be used anymore. Ask a GM in the help channel or try this: place a fresh seat, enter it, alt+f4, log in again.
-Not being allowed to board a construct may keep you from coming close enough to rightclick-report it.
-Linked container fluctuates out of range if you have no talents (or in vr), even well within the 250 meters, if you are on the same construct as the container. Workaround: Have a dynamic core with a container to link to, at your base.
-Nanopack volume talent works in VR
-Some ships in the flight challenge have full buffs, not sure if intended.
-Elements deactivated for supposed clipping often re-"clip" after maintencance, or if a copy is made via blueprint.

    Mining

-Multiple people mining the same spot causes errors

    Technical issues

    Account/Billing

-revoked keys and gametime run out show error 106 on log in

    Performance

Game hugs all RAM sooner or later, client has to wait for server info to be allowed to show frames, aka, framerate stutters at idle GPU.

    Settings

-Borderless can not be stretched to cover a full screen with game resolution set smaller than screen resolution. Workaround: Set screen to reolution you want to run DU at.

@le_souriceau It's stuck because of our web production capacity, though we've recruited more employees to help on the front. As you may remember the website wasn't exactly in a good state back at beta launch o_O and we've had to redo/refactor a lot of stuff web-wise since then. Pretty much the whole "new" website has been redone, as well as our backend infrastructure for a lot of important features like codes (for beta invitations etc.). Latest plan is that it should come out in Frebruary but don't hold that for a firm date as other priorities may come in the way.

    Greetings Noveans! ?

Today I come to all of you with a very special feature! Please put your hands together for @Burble, one of Dual Universe's very own racing specialists.

As many of you are likely aware, the thrilling sport of ship racing has been steadily gaining popularity in DU. Players just like Burble have already created some incredible tracks, designed lightning fast racing ships and organized exciting events to entertain and delight their fellow players. What's not to love about that?

We sat down with Burble to gain some insight into what life as a DU racing fanatic is like! So grab a cup of something tasty and pull up a chair, because we want to share our findings with all of you now. ?

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    1. When did you begin playing DU, and what were your first impressions? Have you always been a fan of this genre?

I started a few months ago before Christmas, I think. I had been following the game for years, but had not had the computer spec or the time to start playing. I've always liked sandbox games, voxel games, flying games and live communities, so DU was a logical step that was always going to happen at some point. My first impressions? I was overwhelmed and a little lost for three days on [the Sanctuary Moon of Alioth]. But after I was advised to make my way to Alioth, the game began and it's been superb ever since.

    2. At what point did you decide to begin building a race track on Alioth?

It must have been around week two of playing. The voxel mechanics in DU are a cut above most other builder games I have played. I've always had a go at building races in other titles, but I knew for sure that the persistent world and [single-server universe], coupled with the interesting physics and excellent building mechanics would make DU the game where a really fun track could actually exist. We can design our own race spaceships and then explode them! How cool is that?

    3. Do you belong to an Organization and, if so, how do your org mates feel about the track you created? Did they pitch in? (Feel free to shout out anyone and everyone you'd like!)

I am in a solo org [so that I can possess all] of the cores I need to build something on a large scale. The whole build was a solo effort until last week, when the course was finished and some new people came along and started taking an interest in building shops and housing their racers on the track and surrounding area. The last few days have been really fun, and the beautiful stuff people are now building on the track makes me really happy and grateful.
However, there were some really good people along the way who helped out with a little resources here, or a kind quanta donation there:

Rayder13 & Umibozu both found me early when the track was only a concept and helped me on my way with their generous spirits. Rogue455 gave me the location of an aluminium meganode for free to help sustain the millions of litres the track was consuming. Dangersnoot has been a lovely friend and kept me company on discord when I lost the will to live... deep underground chasing scanner pings. The two of us once mined a whole silicon meganode and shamelessly sold it all to buy more aluminium. Lunaprey gave me a bunch of XL screens and keeps me on my toes. Jokr shipped me 200,000L of crater soil from Madis so I could build the Madis Hairpin. (There is actually nearly half a million litres of dirt from other planets than Alioth in the track's construction, but that is hard to tell at full speed.)
More recently, other DU racing enthusiasts have reached out to me and have been very generous in donating to the track in the last few days. There is a thriving microcosm of racers in the game. I feel that racing can be a permanent part of the experience. There are a whole lot of really great people in the game and I cannot mention everyone. Just look at the support channel and everyday there are experienced players offering help and advice.

    4. What's your favourite part about hosting races in DU? What about the process sparks the most enjoyment for you?

The crashing and exploding. The inevitable laughter and people flying around to rescue each other from the track, usually deep under water. The way the people who get involved interact with each other and all share the same idea of fun and creativity. Meeting people you would never meet in real life purely through a rendered location that does not even exist beyond our childlike imaginations.

    5. What do you think the future of racing in DU could look like? Do you plan to host any major, recurring events?

The future in a persistent environment can only get better and better. More people are building tracks, I was not the first. There are plenty of other builders that have been here longer than me. There are LUA guys working hard to make lap time devices. There are smart traders taking care of the finances and supporting the efforts of the teams. The actual racing? The tracks all over the universe are all there and being built for the players to enjoy. Monthly events or leagues with cash prizes. Head to Head battles for quanta or to risk losing your ship blueprints to the winner. Gambling syndicates. Time trials. Laughter and drama. Exploding and fireballs.

    6. What would you consider to be your top 3 sources of inspiration when it comes to crafting the perfect race?

The old Nintendo game F-Zero and any film or games where deadbeat rebels spend their lives speeding through canyons and exploding in fireballs. I jump out of aeroplanes for a living and teach people how to fly their bodies at 300kmh so anything fast paced and reaction based keeps my mind empty and happy. The voices tell me to do it.

    7. Besides hosting races, what's your favorite thing about DU? How do you spend your time in-game?

I am not a very skilled block mover - I hardly know any voxelmancy stuff. But still, it is the building and ship design and the interactions with friends. Sometimes Dangersnoot and I spend a whole session just visiting all the incredible VR locations people have shared. What makes DU great is that what you build will be seen by others. It's not an ego thing. So many other voxel games you spend hours building something that you love only to realise you are alone, in a dead server, and there is no one to share it with. Even paradise is boring if there is no one to share it with.

    8. If you had to offer one piece of advice to your fellow DU players, what would it be?

Get the hell off of Sanctuary. Immediately. Leave all your stuff there. Get to Alioth as soon as you can.

    9. If you could have ANY feature in the game (to support your racing ambitions or not), what would it be?

A little more smoothing in close proximity player to player desync and player position lag. The smoother we can make the game feel while flying around at 500kmh just above the water and sand, the better the racing experience will be for everyone. I don't know anything about code but if that is a possibility then I think we all would like to have it please!

    10. And lastly, the big question on everyone’s mind is: what are the coordinates to your track!? We're dying to visit!

In the hot sandy paradise around the equator on Alioth at a Lake we call "Melanuma Beach". Please, anyone come by and explode yourself into whatever you feel is best at the time!

When the game was first pushed out to the public, it was everything that No Man's Sky wasn't and more.
However, with how is the game has been developing over the course of 2020 the picture of DU that was painted is completely opposite from the reality of the game in it's current state.

As a result, those who've walked away from the game are either gone due to overwhelming burnout, resentment from disappointment, or are simply waiting for Novaquark to get this game back on track.
While this game provides "Unprecedented Freedom" (per the latest youtube commercial) the path to getting there and the grind feels ... nearly fruitless.

While most content is player created, Novaquark seriously needs to consider taking a more active role in making NPC content, bots to help bolster activity on both PVE and PVP front and create more for a burned out community to engage in.

Sure, there's still people who play the game and use the markets and enjoy the game for where it's at. However, the .23 patch rubbed a sizable portion of the populous the wrong way. Now, you have bad word of mouth and a larger sullied populous of people unhappy with what's been done to the game.

Asteroids are a great start, however it is similar to giving a hungry 12 year old kid a lolly pop expecting the child to not be hungry for real food later.

The real food resides in creating:
Frequently Randomly generated NPC PVP ships and haulers that people can attack Activity is low and the remaining PVPers are beginning to fade out the door because the fullfillment and drive just isn't there. Giving us constant food will keep us around longer than Randomly generated asteroids ever could It will be the first legitimate source of continuous content for the community and something worth playing the game for It will be something worth advertising as you will see more and more battles take place in space on much larger scales than ever before People will begin to believe you're turning the game around for the better and the Positive word of mouth will begin to spread Frequent and plentiful NPC Generated Missions for the Mission System Again, another source of content to engage in because the community is too burnt out to create the content on a continuous basis. In addition there's not enough activity, drive or even sources of income to support making missions all the time It will be yet another legitimate source of content for people to get immersion in better word of mouth More stuff to advertise Asteroids Regularly patrolled by NPCs Players are burning themselves out by having to mine more than they PVP. As a result they get pissed and walk away. Break the vicious cycle by auto-generating NPC ships that keep people busy and that way we can salvage them instead of eachother. Again more content for us to engage in more to advertise about People will definitely come back to the game New system Event Make events that will allow us to discover parts to construct a galactic probe for probing new systems and even parts to construct a Stargate. Don't do like you've normally done and lean so extreme to one side and make it next to impossible for people to engage in or have fun. If you start any feature on holy $#!7 mode then only 10 out of 1000 people will try it. Too hard or too tedious = not fun = not profitable = no money for NQ and no subscribers. NO LOCK AND FIRE FOR AVA Starbase and many other games do not use it. Lock and fire method of PVP was fun for ships at first but then just became excessively boring. Seeing the same crap for AVA will only stand to piss people off and drive them away. This WILL hurt your notoriety and eventually your $$$. Find a way to make a real 1st person shooter possible and this game will have more activity than NQ knows what to deal with. It may even lead to another round of investing because of the increase level of activity NQ has to deal with. Please please please get away from Lock-n-Fire for AvA for the Love of all things holy DON'T DO IT.

Yes i know what you are saying but i was trying to say when all mechanics are in game it will be harder to adapt. It will be impossible to adapt at release on a wiped world because nobody will sell anything on market and everyone will be focused on their build order in order to achieve greatness. There wont be warp cells for sell, there wont be anything. 1 week from a wiped released server, all pipes, all planets will be camped 24/7 and all u can do is slowboat. All major forces will work as 1 for as long it will be needed in order to dominate the galaxy. BUT this can be avoided if the current development level stays and keeps growing so we can create the "perfect" environment for new players to adapt so the retention is bigger than it is atm.

TLDR: a wipe will make bigger Orgs work togheter even more to make the gap between NEW and OLD Beta players bigger which means, dead environment.

You don't want to restart from zero, you want everyone else to start from zero. Everyone else says no. Stick to your backyard sandbox

admsve got a reaction from Demlock in Energy Management Part 2: A Look at the elements
fusion consumes more energy than it gives back. Only cold fusion has a positive energy balance. That is why it is called "cold". It does not require a huge amount of energy to initiate it. Also fission = nuclear (and it is opposite to fusion). Sorry for the criticism. Cool post
