While I do like this idea, it seems like player markets, org wallets, power systems, contract/mission system and player shipyards should have came first.

I'm a pretty new player and spent a few weeks getting to grips with the game and finding my way around.  Its taken a long time and a lot of work to build a ship, lots of money repairing after learning to fly through smashing up on Alioth time and time again, and spent hours looking for T3+ ores, which have been totally unsuccessful. Even after 3+ hours each way flying to other planets to hunt, only to find that theyve been stripped bare.
Im not interested in joining an org, I want to play the game as an individual, but this step seems to make it even more impossible for new players to get to grips with Dual universe, and I honestly think that it will totally ruin the game for players like me.  Ive worked really hard to build a small factory to produce a Territory Scanner with ores that Ive laboriously mined, which has taken weeks.Without the ability to generate decent income you are effectively stuck, unable to be able to move forward.  It not even possible  to mine for decent ore to generate income as its been completely hoovered up everywhere.  Wouldnt it be better to somehow impose a levvy on larger factories to limit their output or profits rather than punishing small fry like me?
I still havent been able to afford a warp drive, and building a factory seemed like the only sustainable way to acheive this - so I hope you put things into place to help newbie players, who, by the time they have learned the game will be doomed to a poor, boring life on Alioth & Sanctuary!  And what happens to all the industrial units Ive slowly purchased that I will now need a huge investment to use? I honestly think that I will lose interest, just at a point where I felt I was getting somewhere....... .   .     .        .           .                   .                                             !

I wish somethings a little focus on content was also done as well.  Its a big nerf so those who have made billions can buy what they need and those just starting out are left in the lurch.  I get why your doing it.  It is just a big shame!

I still find it mighty peculiar that "scrap" in this game is not made up from broken parts of things that used to work.

Oh, and what do "recyclers" do again, they certainly do not actually recycle anything

Also, yes, there is a need to break the cube meta, and yes, the economy needs a lot more work to make it approximate anything functional, but why are we hearing about distractions away from the roadmap, instead of more progress towards the roadmap?

And don't tell me that's because they have one team working on new roadmap features and another team working on new features that aren't in the roadmap?

Don't get me wrong, I like surprises, well, I like some surprises. Other surprises I hate.

But when I get on a train, plane or bus and find out half way there that they are taking a long detour in a direction they didn't declare in advance, well, you can guess my reaction...

Also what are you supposed to do when your ship decides to start drifting off towards the planet when you had the ECU set but it unloads on you and you have to chase it with your jetpack several KM to try to grab it.  Then it keeps moving again because it's broken

The proposed changes would keep the forward speed of the ship when you log back in.

Now, the question is: is the speed kept when you log in, or when you get back into the control seat?

Should be when the player gets back into the control seat IMO.

The only thing I would suggest to improve the ship-not-stopping thing is to remember if the pilot was seated when logging in. If I DC I don't like the idea of logging back into a speeding ship 'near' the cockpit possibly at an angle in a gravity well where I will just fall off.

    1) I pursue ship in PVP.

    2) He logs off (instantly stops).

    3) I slow down, turn around, approach it.

    4) He logs back in and is flying at 30,000 km/h away from me while I have 0 speed.

    ARE YOU NUTS ?

Does anyone thinks about those changes at all ?

Please make the ship at least stop if it was shot at in the last 10 minutes (shot, not targeted, targeting can be abused in the safe zone, shooting cannot)

Why is there only one comment so far on the industry side when it sounds like they seem to have just invalidated 100% of industry blueprints by bringing in a system where you need machines that don't exist yet to make parts you are already making?

Kudos for fast fixing many bugs in game, cap down for dealing with exploits but... yes there is a but... alltho the upcoming changes are also a good from my perspective my dear devs you forgot 1 thing that is giving us hell and im not talking only about my issue then from every single person i know in this game and do believe me i know allot of people and we all share the same exact issue and that is RENDERING. Now some of us even in my group own computers that are close to freaking NASA and yet for some reason still mountains do not render, thos towers players built around markets do not render in time and so on and so on... now some of us are more active then other perhaps i play this game 16h per day like for months now without stopping - what can i say im addicted and DU is my drug, but just think of it how many times per day i smash into a mountain that is not there and how many towers i kiss per day coz they do not render until its too late. If you would consider working a bit on rendering that would be just peachy before you put this element destruction thing going, just a suggestion not a hate mail, keep up the good work  Cya around.

In PVP, fine on the damage/destruction, though i'm not anywhere near getting into PVP in this game yet.  However, for PVE, I would strongly suggest that the UI/UX is considerably improved from its current state before implementing permanent crash damage.

Currently, I am at a stage of flying a hauler ship around Alioth and have travelled in space to mine elsewhere.  I have a warp drive and just setup a factory to churn out a reasonable number of warp cells.  Not an early-backer, just subscribed a few weeks ago.  So, the issues that I have centre on having little to no idea of the capabilities of a ship as it is built.  The beta currently has a build guide to whether there is or is not a problem with atmospheric or space flight but there is very little guidance on, for example, how much cargo mass a ship can handle.  I have crashed the ship a number of times, usually when it the L container is full (eg 500-650t).  I have happily gone to nearby planets and moons and managed to take off due to steady atmospheric flight or low gravity and then plummeted through the surface of Alioth (as many of us would have done).

So, my current approach in this game (very different from Eve and other games) is to experiment with ship builds and to try to gather minerals and expand factories.  If PvE/crash damage is implemented without a better UI, it would heavily impact my gameplay and I would likely spend a lot more time elsewhere (Space Engineers and Eve) until there is a better balance that allows me to build things and be confident about their characteristics before taking off rather than once I am rushing back with scrap to repair each smoking wreckage.  Please consider improving the build info/experience before implementing PVE/crash damage.

That said, I really like DU and think it has a huge amount of potential to grow.

In the movies I have seen.. and want to relive, you can always repair things... unless the entire ship is destroyed somehow?? [Maybe 100% of elements damaged?] I was wondering, why not allow the repairs to keep being possible forever, but each repairs takes down 5% or more of the total spec of the element? until perhaps a base line of 25% minimum which pretty much means you have to replace them, but it might allow you to limp home?

Mornington reacted to NQ-Naunet in UPDATE: Keeping the 'port' in support!
[Updated Nov 19, 2020 @ 3:02 PM EST]: The rules outlined below apply to teleporting both avatars and constructs. This means that, outside of the list of approved scenarios, we won't be able to fetch your ship and bring it to your location.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Good day fellow Noveans,

I come bearing support-related news! More specifically, I’d like to address teleportation requests with all of you.

For a while now, we’ve allowed players in need of a port to say the word on Discord and - voila - your wish would be granted! ✨
That worked well for a time, but our Discord support channel is now beginning to slip under the veritable wave of port requests… and we’d like to rescue it and all those in need of a ‘lift’.

As of November 19th, we would like everyone in need of teleport-related assistance to use the in-game chat support, or submit an official support ticket. By using the in-game chat function instead of Discord, you’re likely to receive an answer quicker because our GMs are ready and waiting for you there!

Having said that, we’d also like to inform everyone that we will no longer grant port requests if you’re simply out of fuel, stuck in one of your own constructs, or just generally stranded. All port requests will now be investigated, verified and potentially denied if the request falls outside of approved scenarios.

Some examples of when to ask for a port (approved scenarios):

if you’re stuck in an Aphelia construct if you’re trapped in any other player-owned tile (unable to dig) if you’re unable to get past the loading screen upon logging in
What to do if you’re just stuck/out of fuel/stranded:

Don’t forget: there are plenty of player organizations available to assist in your travels through space! Be sure to check out the organizations and services provided on Discord and our Forums. Some organizations will be happy to provide you with transportation, refueling, repairs, building help and so much more!! ?

    How to contact support:

To access in-game chat support, simply click the “support” tab in-game, as depicted below.

From here, it’s as easy as typing up your request, starting the message with "@NQ" and sending it off!

To submit an official support ticket, please click HERE. ?

Then, select the hyperlinked text that says “submit a request” in the top-right corner of the page. Once you see the screen featured below, select the appropriate category for your issue and go to town!

(Quick note for those submitting crash reports: PLEASE do not forget to include a crash log and/or XML logs with your ticket!!)

And there you have it! Let’s all do our part to keep the Discord server free and clear of port requests so that players with big ol’ bugs and other issues to report can receive the visibility they deserve.

    ~NQ-Naunet

PS - I want to give a special shout-out to all of our support staff for everything they do!! Thank you, all!!

So the only issue I am seeing is RDMS / promotion issues that caused the theft. Not seeing any actual "exploit" of any kind and the details that very few shared again prove that it was a permissions issue or a promotion issue. Legates have full access and trying to claim that none of their legates would ever do such a thing is fooling yourself. No game master / admin of any MMO would be able to provide all the details after investigating things, such as giving a name of who actually did so due to their privacy provisions.

I dealt with a lot of insiding tickets when I worked at Blizzard with their in-game support team. We never gave out details because of privacy provisions. I fully expect the same in DU.

I have even seen times when a guild master is the culprit, takes everything out of the guild bank and sends it all to one of their alts, then plays the dumbfounded card with their clan. In some cases it is all a mind game and deception is a powerful tool.

Unfortunately DU is lacking some very basic QOL core features, such as giving orgs some means to track who takes things out of containers, puts things in, etc, along with a log of who edited construct voxels. (IE:Player A removed 60m cubed of carbon fiber from Construct C)

It sucks when other players with permissions steal from an org, but this is all on the super legate in promoting folks to legate, and setting RDMS rights.

If the people who took down the market didn't use an exploit to do what they did, but just took advantage of badly set RDMS, than this is completely unacceptable behavior.

The people who did this should be taken to task for their action and forced to apologize for any grief they caused any players.

It is very clearly stated in the exploits section that stealing stuff because RDMS is set wrong is NOT an exploit, and will NOT BE PUNISHED.

NQ should apologize and unban the players who got banned. They should apologize to the player base for setting rules and then acting in complete opposition to what they set. It was an unpopular rule in the first place, and now they should realize why themselves, and either change the rule, or at least make the RDMS a lot more friendly, including some warnings after setting them what the consequences of the setting are.

As for the players, this is a beta, they found an issue which needs to be addressed, they are doing the job of a beta tester. They should get to keep their loot, as after all that is what the rules set down by NQ state. When player markets are started, they should have a head start, as they already have the terminals.

The fact that it broke a lot of links and market orders etc were lost, good; player markets are planned, and NQ now realize if they continue to do the linking that way, a lot of people are going to be very upset when they breakdown their market to move it somewhere it breaks so many things. NQ are now very aware of it thanks to these idiots, and hopefully will save a lot of grief when player markets show up as NQ have now got time to reconsider the approach to markets, orders, linking etc.

but what would I know, I'm just a beta tester wondering if I do my job and find a problem will I be rewarded or banned!

NB:. not associated with the people who did this, didn't recognize the username as anybody I play with.

As several people already noted over here and in Discord talks, problem not particular "interpretation" of crime act or even ban of this guy/guys (even people who seem like "defend" them not actualy I think much care about per se involved individuals).

Its, as always in history, matter of circumstance and context, that makes mundane things powder kegs. Because if this happend in more calm circumstance, effect was drammaticly lower. Banned? And to hell with them. No one cared.

Yet circumstance made them kinda "resistance" figures in funny sense. Vandalizing Robin Hoods.

This discontent about NQ communication (especialy -- lack of communication on several very sensetive issues about different exploits, clear rules and examples of punishments) was brewing for some time now. For some people since early start, for some since alpha, for some -- from newer times.

And this event was like sort of tragico-comedical twist of plot, when someone got biten with exactly same thing he was like... "deserving"? You know this stories? This why it having now so much effect.

Really sorry to disagree with you on this Vertex, but "have a negative impact on their gaming experience" really does need rewording.

It's so vague that it becomes meaningless or makes rule-breakers of everyone (e.g. am I having a 'negative impact' on your gaming experience by disagreeing with you on a forum? Pretty sure ONIXXX had his game experience negatively impacted, I read about the theft happening on the support forum).

This game has aspirations to be a PvP game, like EVE. Player conflict is actively encouraged.

What DU are failing at is drawing the line between what is ok and what isn't. Between player and avatar. Between PvP areas and 'safe zone' areas.

If the model they have drawn up for player run markets, at a time when orgs are stealing assets through both RDMs and exploit theft, can so easily destabilise more than just the voxels maybe they need to rethink that plan?

It genuinely troubles me that this incident has raised an issue that could make player run markets not viable.

Or do NQ have to add in a mechanic / rule that territory warfare is not allowed to happen in tiles with markets, because that could have a 'negative impact' on third parties trying to buy at those markets?

That would be so open to abuse, everyone would just put a market in every tile.

    Yeah, you'd think so.

I mean, it clearly stated in anti-cheat policy weeks ago that finding a bug and not reporting it was forbidden, exploiting it was also forbidden.

But where were the bans for Desolation for their ship heists?

    Oh....?

"Oh, sorry Mr Dev, we thought you intended for us to exploit a bug in the safe zone to drag ships into pvp so we could shoot and claim them."

    That is absurd.

Please be honest with us here - was this something they did by pressing B due to bad RDMS, or did they do something else to cause a glitch (we don't need to know what)?

Right now it looks to many observers that you have said theft through bad RDMS is fine, not an exploit, and you can't/won't get involved in that, but when these players did exactly that they should have known that you (NQ) did not intend for them to be able to steal a game asset or be annoyed because you have changed the rules on them.

Well, guess what, all those players who had constructs stolen didn't intend for them to get stolen either.

Your clause about reporting and not abusing bug exploits has been written into game rules since anti-cheat was published August 27th, but you have not even banned anyone (to my knowledge) that was involved in bug related ship-jacking, or base-jacking.

You have not even responded to my question about why a Youtuber is telling people on his channel that NQ have told him it's ok to ignore one of the anti-cheat rules forbidding simultaneous two-boxing.

If you want testers to stay and have any respect for your endeavours, you need to be consistent, not playing favourites at the expense of paying testers.

I love what you're trying to achieve here, but right now, you're Nero, not Neo, fiddling while Rome burns, not saving anyone.
