The "weird things that happen a lot" seen throughout the game really should no longer be an issue in a beta development state of a game. These should be resolved during Alpha with maybe balancing left for beta.

But anyone who has an objective view on this, as well as knows and accepts the industry standard definition for this, understands that DU is in fact far, far removed from being a game in beta state of development.

Oh there is no doubt about that, its the direction development is taking that is of concern.

Just check the kickstarter page (if you can find it, none of the links I have found in this forum will go to it anymore).  it talks all about how solo players will be a thing.  Not only is that NOT true anymore, but even small orgs like mine can no longer compete.  Had they said, "join a giant org and be a billionaire  so you can rebuild civilization" or something along those lines, I would never have spent so much money to help fund this game.

But I don't want to play "employees in space" or "space market" or "space miner".  Or whatever you want to call it.  It's not going in the direction we were promised either way. I wanted to run my own small org and set up a business. That was going rather well until we were priced out of the economy.

DystopianSnowman reacted to Hazaatan in Creative mode is coming.. Seriously NQ?
Don't look now, but NQ is putting 'Sustainment' on the top of the list.  I have been saying for weeks now that the PVE building community dwarfs the PVP building community.  You need to cater to them because they will pay to play.

That's not how it works.  You can only bring blue prints.  This is going to boost economy not hurt it.  Having to grind to test a build is demoralizing.  Grinding to build a ship you already tested is motivating.
Space Engineers has the same set up. Never does creative take away form the survival game.  It gives goals to shoot for and farm for.
It's just blueprints, not the material...

This has the potential to being people back.  If only to have fun building and testing.  It's sustainability for the game.  Even if, big if here, the builders never come out of creative, they are paying for the game. Significantly more builders will be grinding to build there creations on live, so no need to worry... be happy.
Builders will get excited for this, i'm already excited for this. Hope it comes sooner, than later.

No, such gating is counter-productive, because "invested" people just go 10 accounts and will not give much muck about it. This is root mistake of 0.23.

Key is not in characters, but in players -- they need to have motivations to be specialized not as character, but as players, with them finding their long-lasting gameplay niche, activities and ambitions they are gunuinly want to do. This something DU quite fails to provide right now for big chunk of population.

I agree. The lore sucks goats. Who are we paying? Why do they need our money.

I hate bots with a passion: we’re basically paying magic potion NPC BOTS for stuff. Just like players being able to disintegrate megatonnes of the finite ores week by week by selling them to NPC bots and removing them from the market, ultimately fucking everything up to the point where PvP is ENTIRELY superfluous in terms of resource sink.

personally I think they could  have just made all the industrial machines more expensive from the start with high tiered machines being geometrically so.

Then make researching the schematics a thing and allow groups to use or sell schematics and allow schematics then work for a whole factory by placing them in a central industrial schematic manager or something.

what is the physics behind schematics only being able to enable bolts or magnets on a single machine.

    Thoughtless immersion breaking reasoning.
very poor effort considering JC has a PhD. Although that may be why he left academia in the first place, who knows....

... harsh, I know, but the lack of even basic consistency or even any robust logic in some cases would not bode well for someone in any sort of critical analysis or research field.

I do not agree. While I understand the purpose of the schematics I find it a terrible design to not being able to replicate one once I've bought it.

I think in a beta you should give feedback and if many users are dissatisfied they give appropriate feedback.
You are free to give positive feedback in your own Tread.
I think the developers should be happy to get positive and negative feedback, that's what alpha / beta is for.
Because this is the time to get different perspectives on the game.
The developers and players should consider themselves lucky if the forum is used for this.

I notice that you go into great detail about who you think does not want a wipe and their reasons, and then for the opposing side you merely have a list of insulting labels.

This is a pretty standard form of cancel culture prevalent in todays society. You give intellectual credit to one side of an argument by expounding on their motives , ideas, etc. Then you completely dismiss the other side with insulting labels to try and invalidate any of their arguments by not addressing them intelligently.

I'm not sure if this was your intent , or if your even aware of what your doing but I figured I would point it out for you.

A rollback of the entire server is not what anyone asks for I do suspect.. Those asking for a roll back are asking for NQ to do what they should be able to do and undo the fallout from their mistake by removing the involved schematics and refunding the purchases.

Remember when they had the bug abuse "amnesty" and asked players to turn themselves in or be banned.... and then nobody got banned...

I said then that I believed NQ did not have the ability to identify - with 100% certainty - those who had or had not abused bugs in the game and were using their weird self-immolation beckoning "amnesty" as a ruse.
This latest unwillingness (or likely inability) to remove the affected schematics from the game makes me believe that I was indeed correct and that NQ have not (yet?) implemented any audit trails within the mater database.

Every database I have built for my clients includes a table or tables containing detail transactional histories of anything important and usually with enough data to automate reversal or rollback

Sure, the scale of my customers' databases is laughably small, but then I wasn't paid 20,000,000 dollars to develop it.

This does not bode well for release.

What baffles me is the apparent lack of ability/willingness to just undo those transactions.  Remove the schematics purchased at an incorrect price, refund the money spent on said schematics to the purchaser.
It would have taken less than 10 minutes to write a query to identify the transactions that occurred in that time frame.
    it isn't that hard.
spend a little more time, and it's even possible to write a query to follow all subsequent transactions, and do a removal/refund for those too.

What follows is perhaps the most critical thing I have said regarding NQ, I don't think it is unfair though.

Ok so my understanding is this: In an effort to fix a issue with pricing on a particular schematic someone managed to somehow set every bot order to about 1/100 of the price it should be selling at. Please let me know if I have missed something.

Now, full disclosure, I wasn't able to gain from this, I wasn't online, I am telling you now I would have taken full advantage of it and anyone who is honest knows they would too.

It might be fair for you to ask me something like "Why are you putting a post up of something you aren't even sure of?".

That question would be fair only up until you realise that nothing is being done about it, with NQ stating they were "to err on the side of caution" whatever that means.

Caution? It's a bit late for that now isn't it? Where was this caution when someone decided to make changes to live servers. I bet there are a ton of engineers and developers playing this game and almost all of them know the cardinal rule: You never, ever, ever mess with production code or data before fully testing it on a representative environment or as close to one as you can get!

By now I suspect many reading this have seen the screenshot of someone holding 112 warp beacon xl schematics, not 1 or 2 but 112, if they also bought the necessary sub components then you are looking at production of an end game item at a scale that just should not be.

NQ, where is the philosophy you so passionately and vocally used to defend the changes made in 0.23? Your insistance that having players being able to run up mega factories is a bad idea? Everything you as a company put out at that time is contradictory to the inaction on this issue.

NQ, how are you meeting the statement you made after 0.23, you remember don't you? The one that stated you would be more communicative, you would test things out more before you rolled them out, what about internally? Did you not learn from the knee jerk reaction that was the talent reset?

NQ, it boggles my mind that you don't see this as a serious problem, it isn't just about those 30 minutes and the minority of players getting a leg up it is about what comes after.
Looking at this selfishly as an example, i mine like a madman for weeks and I finally buy schematics and a warp beacon, i mine more to build the beginnings of a space station, i keep on mining to buy more schematics and before Thursday I at least figured I had made an honest dent into building a foundation in this game; those 30 minutes demolished all that work.

These points don't just apply to me, they apply to any player who wasn't lucky enough to get in on the schematic grab.

Ok ramble over, NQ it is time to point out why this is all quite disturbing to me as a player (i would hope others too):

    1. This has demonstrated a severe lack in your processes, you've lost customer confidence
    2. Your decision making in the aftermath is abyssmal; your going to do nothing?
    3. The reasoning for your inaction is.....well it isn't reasoning; 'err on the side of caution'.
    4. Your inaction points to (from more likely to tinfoil hat):
      a. You truly don't see this as a problem and are content to carry on (your wrong, it's more than just the schematics, it is the message you are sending)
      b. You now see it as a problem but you can't rollback
      c. You always saw it as a problem but you are unable to perform a rollback and you don't want to admit that
      d. You intend to wipe
      e. This was intentional for the benefit of a group of players (tinfoil yes but it's not the first time a mmo has done this).
    5. You either can't trace player transactions or don't have the time to rectify your mistake meaning this is an intensive process.
    6. Your communication on this matter has been more pointed to 'stay silent and it will blow over' rather than addressing concerns.
    7. Your indiffference to this matter

I like DU, I see the potential, but potential isn't enough, at this point features won't be enough, your team appears to be lacking process, experience or maybe just passion, that or someone is calling the shots and  overriding the devs decisions, this isn't the first simple mistake as a result of quick decision making or poor thought, something needs to change and it needed to change 4 days ago

The only thing that saves this burning dumpster fire besides removing all ill gotten schematics or a rollback is to flat come out now and say there will be a full wipe before release. Seriously NQ, you need to own this one way or the other. Either tell us all it doesn't matter cause it's all getting nuked downed the road anyway, or act like professionals and fix it.

I will explain why ppl are angry today , using myself as an example:

after 0.23 patch, i had to spend 200 mil quanta on schematics to get my warp cell/warp drive factory running again.

the decided to go for long grind for warp beacon production line:

Schematics/ rare industry units cost me around 450 mil quanta. then managed to accumulate 500 mil towards warp beacon schematic.

Long  painful grind , hours of mining/hauling / market trading sometimes even at a cost of sleep , as I am an adult with real life responsibilities.

1 Billion 150 million quanta ,I have accumulated at a cost of many many hours ,was yesterday  reduced to 11.5 million.  Instead of being one of the few making beacons , i have nothing , when some have it for free.

How can i be happy and understanding?
