  1. So, as you can probably tell from the name of the topic, is there currently a confirmed name for the in game currency? I feel like this information(if it exists) should be more widespread as currently I see it refered to as many different things, even by myself. Also, if the all seeing all knowing replies section does not know of any definitely confirmed (citations for sources please), may I suggest that as a community we start referring to the currency as GALACTIC UNITS (or units for short). If this post gets enough up votes which would suggest that we do need to decide on a currency name if one doesn't already exist, I will put a poll out on the forums with suggestions for the name, and let the community take it from there!
  2. While we wait on the alpha of Dual Universe to arrive, I figured I would place this offer out to the community at general. If we can gain the right amount of support I will buy a dedicated server for Space Engineers out of Dallas, Texas. It is on a Gigabit fiber line - So that worldwide connections should be possible without much issue, meaning everyone can join in. There will be a few mods on it to make it significantly more challenging!   5. Greetings all! I come before you all today with a new addition to our community: The Dual Universe Historical Society. Several things struck me over the past few months: If other such games are anything to go by, the history of Dual Universe shall be grand and intriguing, and as fascinating as that of any Age or Empire in Earth's history. Why? Because this game will not be made of just pixels but also of every person who plays it. It will be built from the tears of every person who watches their Empire crumble, the sweat of every person who stays up late grinding time into this game, the cleverness of diplomats, the creativity of artists, and the inspiration of leaders. Hope, Anger, Revenge, Happiness, Greed, Humor, and Loss will all exist in this universe. To put it simply, this game will be filled with everything human, and a story with this much humanity deserves to be told, and to be remembered. There are a lot of wonderful people here from all over the world, from all over the political and social spectrum. There are young people, older people, students and businessmen, truckers and programmers, and this diversity will only grow as the community does. I have already had a few very good political discussions with people from other parts of the world, who have different perspectives on things than I do, and it has been a fantastic opportunity. There are a lot of people here with an interest in history, economics, politics and other such related fields. And so, I would like to create a place to bring all of these things together for the benefit of the community. I would like to create a place of scholarship, of learning and debate. I would like to create a place for us to take a break from the battles and learn more from each other. That's what the Dual Universe Historical Society will be. That's what it is.   7. Hey Community! I'm Flow, the Legate/Commander of the Organization "Stargate Command". I'm currently searching for people who like Stargate. As a huge fan I've created this organization because I realised Dual Universe is the perfect game to bring the Stargate Community together and to have fun with Stargate stuff. Our targets are pretty simple. We will build Stargate ships and buildings like the Daedalus, Atlantis, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex and more. Our activities are exploration (through stargates) and keeping peace in the galaxy. If you already have a organization you can join us anyway (being a member of multiple organizations is now possible). It is also possible to hire us (the whole organization) to be a military separation of another Organization. Star Wars will take part as a player driven lore, so why not Stargate? Kael looked visibly confused. “I thought it’d be something serious…but every one of his questions centred around games!” “Satoru’s never serious. Don’t let it bother you—except when he’s holding a gun.” Kael nodded grimly and let the co-pilot’s seat secure him as well. The Command from the Air Control Centre came over the radio: “V-4, 90˚ lift.” With a tap, the vehicle rose into the sky, turning towards the Novark and racing off. “People died the last time Oethe went there. Why in the world is he sending us back there?” Kurotou shrugged. “The kid’s crazy, but I’d rather die facing the enemy than facing Satoru’s antics. He put poison in my water and claimed he was probing if I was worth the job! The farther away from him, the better.” Kael shuddered and looked back at the ten Oethe soldiers clad in the black and heavy combat uniform Oethe reserved for special operations. “This time, we’re prepared, don’t you think?” Kurotou smiled. “Black’s the new red.” He looked to the left and gave the accompanying Nightelf a thumbs up. The Nightelves had been refitted for optimal sensory performance and ungodly maximum damage. If anything so much as showed up as hostile, it would be smoking powder in a matter of seconds. A small hologram of Satoru appeared on the control panel. “Hello! Hi, Kael! First, of all, good luck: you’ll need it!” Kael gave him a restrained wave. “Satoru, what’s up?” He smiled mischievously. Well it was meant to be a smile, but it made Kurotou’s hair stand on end. Crap. “I’m declaring myself the Eon of the Aether.” Were it not for the fact that rolling the eyes was something exclusively reserved for women, Kurotou would have. “Congratulations. What is the Aether?” He smiled again, making Kurotou’s hair stand for the second time. “Not what. “Who” is the question you should be asking.” Kurotou gritted his teeth, even as the boy waited for him to ask the question the right way. Kael saved him the embarrassment. “Who is the Aether, Satoru?” “A-ha! I knew you were wondering, but I’m getting tired of talking, so I’ll skip that part and move on to the next thing I want to tell you.” Kael smacked his fore-head with his palm. “I reviewed the potential economy of the Aether with Shiro and Kuro. Guess what?” “You--” Kurotou started before Satoru cut him off. “I’m short on time. We stand to gain a lot from industry and research, given the potential market within Theia and the massive one surrounding the Ark ship.” Kael didn’t say a word, so Kurotou kept quiet and let Satoru continue. “However, research shows that people are more likely to work efficiently under certain guidance…Religious guidance to instil fear and discipline within the concerned populace.” Kael laughed out loud. “So you’re founding an economical religion and proclaiming yourself Lord and Saviour?!” Then, he paused and looked at the hologram grimly. “You’re crazy.” Satoru’s happy face darkened fifty shades. Kael shut up immediately. “I’m crazy, you piece of trash? Keep talking, someday you’ll say something intelligent.” A soldier wolf-whistled from the back. Kael made the wise choice and kept quiet. “Say something, Kael.” Satoru urged, seething with anger that seemed to come from nowhere. I’ve got to stop this kid from turning everyone against him… “Satoru, a thought crossed my mind--” “So, a thought crossed your mind? Must have been a long and lonely journey.” F**k you! “Watch your mouth, Satoru or I’ll put this mission in reverse.” He snickered. “Oh, please. You are proof that evolution can go in reverse.” All of a sudden, he started laughing playfully. Kurotou slammed the hologram and it shut down. Once it vanished, he breathed a hot sigh of relief and irritation. “Son of a b****!” He cursed and wiped his face. Kael looked at him, fury in his eyes. “Why do we obey what he says?” Kurotou glanced at him. “Gee…I don’t know. Perhaps, because I like walking around without a bullet in my skull?” Kael shrugged, obviously seeing the sense in that. “Who are Shiro and Kuro?” It was Kurotou’s turn to shrug. “Some people he always keeps ranting about. I’ve never met them.” Tense silence ensued for a few minutes, neither side wanting to discuss the insults received while the soldiers in the back preferred to silently let both of them burn in the humiliation. To ease the tension, a soldier started playing punk rock. Kurotou couldn’t tell he was mocking them or trying to help. “Where are we headed exactly?” One of the soldiers asked and put the heavy rifle to rest beside him. “To your deaths.” Kurotou’s head snapped back. At the same time, his hands came off the control panel and raised the pistol to his chest. Kael gritted his teeth. “Dammit, Mistral! What are you doing here?!” She cat-walked to the cockpit, slapping a leering soldier across the face. Io flanked her, knocking the same soldier with the butt of his rifle. “What else? I had to know what Satoru’s up to. Now I know: toying with your lives.” Kurotou kept one hand on the fire arm. I don’t like Satoru, but she is on another level entirely… “Welcome to the joy-ride, darling. Did you see the “abandon all hope, ye who enter” tag I sprayed on the Nightelf?” Kurotou asked, putting the firearm in its place. He heard her sigh. “Look. I value my friends more than some mentally challenged kid.” “I know two mentally challenged kids, darling and you’re one of them.” Kael scratched the back of his neck. “We’re barely one month on Alioth and political campaigns have started with the teens. This is bad.” He noted. Mistral got passionate. “This isn’t politics! I’m trying to make…” Kurotou subtly made sure that everyone except for Mistral and Io were strapped in. Then he rolled the aircraft. After hitting their heads against several hard things, there was some silence. “Oh, I’m sorry, darling! Were you saying something?” He heard Io’s rifle power up. Eight more emitted the same sound. Without a doubt, the real soldiers were challenging him to turn up the aggro. “Listen Io, I don’t care if we’re the same age or younger. What I do care about is that you have a nineteen-year-old girl leading you around like a mistress. Whatever happened to your soldier’s honour?” “It went with Eidolon and died with Satoru.” “Sheesh.” Kael busied himself with something that could have waited till later. I need some back up here, Kael! Mistral started talking…again. “What did he send you to do?” “Fasten your harness. Then we can talk.” Both complied and he continued. “Intelligence spotted some monoliths in a swamp not far from here. They--” “Intelligence? Whose Intelligence?” Io asked. Kael looked back. “Mistral’s, of course.” Kurotou could tell that the girl shook her head. “I didn’t send any Intelligence to any swamps.” “No soldiers have gone scouting either for two days.” A soldier named Skellarts added. How did that Satoru know that there were monoliths in a swamp anyway? “Am I the only one who gets the feeling that we’re being played here?” Mistral asked. Kurotou nodded. “Yes, you are. Whether or not Intelligence came here is irrelevant. What matters is that we find out what these monoliths are and— “ A hostile light lit up on the control panel. “I’ve got a bogie!” However, before either aircraft could engage the opponent, the hostile vehicle inexplicably blew up. He cursed. Once again, Mistral had something to say. “Great! Now an offensive aircraft blew up. You know what that means?” Kurotou was getting pretty irritated at her constant bickering, so he chose not to answer. Unfortunately, Skellarts didn’t catch the hint. “You tell me.” “We’ve let everyone know we are in the area. I think Satoru set us up. I mean: The Lhaeryon is here,” Kurotou shrugged. “The Birzai is here as well.” Kael sarcastically clapped for her. “Wait a minute…so am I.” Kael stopped clapping. Then it dawned on Kurotou, even as several enemy crafts came into view. “The bastard set us up…”
  9. Hi, first of all correct me if this thread has already been opened somewhere else. If not, well one thing came to mind. What if there could be some in game activities, such as Chess, Texas Hold'em and 8 Ball Pool in the game world. They could be pre-defined models you could purchase or craft in the game. This would bring more reasons to come to play. I don't know if you guys have heard of a game called Puzzle Pirates. If not well it's pretty much what the name suggests: Being a pirate and sailing while doing various puzzles etc. anyway in that game I think this was implemented brilliantly. If I wanted a break from sailing and pillaging then I could just go to the nearest tavern and play some game like Texas Hold'em among few others and relax, completely away from the sailing stuff. This would also bring meaning to some of the buildings in a city or a colony. For example there could be a community hall, where players could gather between their travels, sit down and play together. Some variety to the game + at least something as a heritage from planet earth. Well this is just one idea among others and could obviously be implemented later as there are 1000 more important things right now, but anyway.

  12. The Collective Welcome, citizen! I would like to introduce you to The Collective. Here at The Collective, we are striving to build an organization that works for it's members, whether they are an individual or a member of our alliance. After the destruction of our home, humanity has been given another chance here on Alioth; we at The Collective want to take advantage of this second chance by helping humanity achieve great things. To achieve our goals, The Collective hopes to establish itself as a large organization, supported by an alliance of groups working together. Those not belonging to a group are welcome to join The Collective itself - we will have many positions available, from miner to builder, politician to trader. We will have a military division as well, although our main focus militarily will be defense of our territories and alliance members; our stance in general will be neutral, but we will certainly defend ourselves against aggressors. For those groups looking to join our alliance, we will offer many benefits - mutual defense, shared resources, territories, combined recruiting and trade agreements. Whether you are a small mining group or a team of designers that love to build things, we would like to offer you a place within The Collective. We will need haulers to move things and traders to buy and sell things. Every job in the universe will be needed! Those groups worried about losing their independence by joining our alliance need not worry - alliance members are free to govern their organizations internally as they see fit, the only stipulations will be laid out to them during alliance negotiations. As far as governance, we will be have a Stellar Council that is selected by the Archon. This Council will help with running the overall operations of The Collective, as well as advising the Archon. The number of seats on this Council has not been set as of yet. There will additionally be a Board of Directors that will consist of either the leader or an appointed member from each group within the Alliance. The purpose of the Board of Directors is to allow effective communication between all member groups and to vote on issues that affect the Alliance as a whole - the Archon will preside as the President of the Board and will have veto power, with a 2/3 majority required to override the veto. This Board will not have governance over The Collective itself, only over the alliance. All parties interested in joining The Collective must agree to abide by our Code of Conduct, which are fairly simple. We have been writing backstories that have been focused solely on the Aether and in a few parts, the Aether's allies will begin to bask in the lime light. However, we feel that keeping the lore to ourselves is in stark contrast to our values and principles of sharing with others. As such, we have come to a general decision that the Aether backstories be modified to reflect all organisations and activities within Dual Universe (from a role play perspective, of course.) It has been delayed but, war with the Mad men has been long in coming and it will be arriving soon. The "Mad men" are coined from the power hungry maniacs that seized the area surrounding the Ark ship in Dual Universe's original lore; the first of which you can find here. It would be nice to see how the Aether handles some war in the lore, and it will be a thousand times better to work with as many organisations as there are to create a story that is made by the Dual Universe community, for the Dual Universe community and with the Dual Universe community.   14. Hello DU Community Yesterday, I had my first encounter with the dark side of any internet community within the Discord server. It was a statement of overt racial vilification - that is - a public act that encourages or incites others to hate people because of their race, nationality, country of origin, colour or ethnic origin. To my own shame I did not deal well with these comments as, to me, they were personal and extremely offensive by any reasonable person test. And I decided then and there to do something about it here. And therein lies the problem. I, indeed none of us, can stop others from acting in a certain way. Nor do I feel that we should as players hold NovaQuark as being responsible for policing our actions as a community. The promise of the game is that it is community driven, so this is our mantle to bear. However - what I, and you, can do, is make a commitment; an unambiguous statement; on the kind of community we want this to be, and the kind of behavior which we, as a community, see as appropriate. At the same time - this is a game about rebuilding humanity. And from a pre-alpha thematic perspective, I do feel that there is one document which may well have traveled with us to Alioth, or conceivably would be something the first colonists would create, especially when one reads the preamble. This is an semi-edited document to make it for MMO use, and Dual Universe-ish, without changing the intent of the original. That said, please send feedback or concerns so it can be shaped. And so it is that I present to you the Dual Univers(al) Declaration of Human Rights and Community Charter. All organisations, characters, and especially PLAYERS, are invited to "sign" via reply to this thread in the manner I do. Organisations and characters should not feel compelled to sign if it does not fit their background - this in no way means that you as a PLAYER should not want to make this commitment however. Suggested edits are, of course, welcome - I do not anticipate that changes would change the spirit of the intent. Some articles have been removed where I could see no relevance in DU.   15. Greetings, fellow Citizen! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Simon Volcanov and I am the CEO of the great Volcanov Corporation! What is the Volcanov Corporation, you may ask. Simply put, it is an organisation formed to become one of the largest powers in this universe! It is split into five departments: Mining, Surveying, Construction, R&D and Armed Forces. Each is lead by a Head of Department, or HoD, personally chosen by me. Let me introduce the departments to you. Mining: Gathering ressources is the foundation of our great company! Should you choose to become part of the mining department, your field of activities would include the gathering of ressources EDIT: Mining vehicles will not be a thing. While this might sound like the most boring and simple activity, it is the one which gives you the most freedom as an individual player. Surveying: Before we can gather the ressources, we have to find them! As a surveyor, this would be your job. Not only will you be able to contribute greatly to the Company, we will also provide with a free ship and guards, so that you can explore the universe to your delight. You have to report to an officer every once in a while, but this job probably offers the most freedom as part of the Company workforce. Construction: Are you skilled in the art of errecting whole civilizations over night? Then a job as builder might be for you! You would have to construct Headquarters, living spaces, mining facilities, factories, vehicles... basically the whole infrastructure. While this might be the job with the highest workload at first, after finishing the infrastructure you would be able to go about your adventures with access to alot of the companies ressources as a reward for your contribution. R&D: Designing new vehicles and constructions for the builders, putting together LUA scripts and analyzing them in the field. That could be your job if you decide to work for our R&D department. This job needs the hightest creativity and intelligence, but will be well rewarded with access to all the ressources and equipment you need to fulfill your dreams! Armed forces: Digging in the dirt for hours, piecing together a heap of trash to drive around in or thinking more than 10 minutes ahead are not your style? Then the Armed Forces might be for you! Equipped with the latest designs in vehicles and armory, your job would be to protect other members of the Corporation and its porperty, as well as securing locations with high amount of ressources. While the Volcanov Corporation is not interested in becoming a major waring party, an armed force to defend our Corporation is essential, plus we might even found a pirate hunting squad with the best pilots and soldiers as officers. After all, trading is one of the major parts of our Corporation and we can't have some lowly pirates endanger our profits. In the end, your own playstyle matters most to us and we would never force you into any activities. Whoever decides to join the Volcanov Corporation will be provided with protection, secure living quarters, equipment and vehicles.   17. Sorry if it repeat theme, but I can't find something same. Core of idea - Game chat must have different properties on different distance. I think we need 4 levels of distance. 1) Close distant (0-5km) - everyone can read and send massage, and every one can read this. Massage will be send full and immediately. 2) Low distance (5km - planetary system) - Massage can send only from ship, but player can read when out of ship. Massage will be send full and immediately. 3) Medium distance (star system) - Massage can be send and read only from ship. Massage will be send full and immediately. 4) High distance (between star systems) - Massage can be send and read only from ship. Massage will be send with "lags" (ex.: 1 light year - 1-3 sec) and can be randomly damaged (short massage have more resistance for this, but if it damage u have chance for fully unreadable massage, long massage have lower resistance for damaged, but more word can stay normal). It must work with public and private massage (except mail - it must have very low speed, but it will be invulnerable for damaging).

Hi, This is rather question to our community manager (I summon @NQ-Nyzaltar !), but you can respond too Community portal is fun and very interesting in terms of community growth, but it lacks some purely technical features - for me two main concerns are: impossibility to edit replies in topic, lack of customize titles for corp members (who is director, who is legate, who is line member and so on...) and "flat" structure of organisations - we already have have powerful coalitions, but they function like "normal" corporations, being different type. I can point few more requests, but I rather would to know where I can address them? To special topic (like this one , PM Nyzaltar, or some other way? If someone can point me to right direction, I will be grateful. PS: In absence of such topic about community website feedback, I think that we can temporally post our propositions here

Your job is to go and search the forums for anything interesting about the game, maybe a golden idea the team hasn't thought of. Great - so now try going through the forums to see how many of the posts are relevant. So just how many of the comments on some interesting posts have good content? Go on, have a look. To those of you out there that are posting so you can get your count up, just give at least some contribution to the discussion. Yea some banter and chat is fine though there is nothing stopping you from taking your conversations elsewhere.
  21. Hey all! I'm curious as to the functionality of larger ships and the ships systems. I've seen in the videos put out by the devs so far that large stations will have control rooms and each display will show certain ship systems readouts on them. My question is this... will large "Capital" ships be able to be controlled by one person, or will the larger ships and stations need to be manned and controlled by multiple players. For example, can a single player control piloting the ship, shields, weapons, engines, etc. or do you need a gunner, helmsman, engineering, etc.? tldr: will ships have AI to run ships systems or are players required for each system? In my opinion, you should have to have a player assigned to each major ship system, if not each turret, on the ship. This requirement will keep "mega organizations" (like Goonswarm used to be in Eve) from bringing hundreds of large ships into a fight and being able to do whatever they want whenever they want. Instead, they'd be able to bring a smaller number of ships with greater functionality to the battle, thus giving smaller organizations a chance. (think rebel alliance vs. the empire) Your thoughts?
  22. Hello and good day fellow DU Pioneer With this topic i'd like to introduce the Society Observing Universal Life. A less complicated connection for people who want to focus more on gameplay and not administrating some corporation, organization, or any sort of order with rank and privileges. Instead of privileges and authority which many others have, you will be pleased by being free from such burdens. Soul will not be an anarchy, hierarchy, monrachy nor any capitalism, theocracy or anything like that. If you need anything to compare it could be called anarchy or more likely equalism. Yes there will be members who do some chores for SOUL but that is all voluntary and all are free to do so as well or never engage in chores. Only two easy rules: 1. Treat members as equals and remain neutral to the Universe, you are free to do what you do on your own responsibility. 2. Attend the meetings which are neither regular, nor are only announced by officials. Every member will have authority to call for meetings. (Will be further explained for members) There is no requirement for joining, but since some roleplayers tend to do funny things ill elaborate a few details: a.) In case you are part of a rival faction of another members faction, it is in your own interest to treat each other equally and not as enemys unless you are in a battlefield fighting for your faction. Meaning if you do fight eachother, it will not be as members of SOUL. So when you two are alone and not on orders by your other factions superior, its rational to treat eachother as SOUL members. b.) Should your intention for joining be the gathering of information (spying, eavesdropping, etc.) you are free to do so, as a neutral and free group it may also be possible that members will be trying to help or sabotage your activity. Meaning that we do not care about spys in our midst. Since DU is still in progress and undergoing changes, so is it possible that SOUL will change.

  24. My name is Trihxeen. I am from Texas in the United States. I am 27 soon to be 28! MMOs have been a big part of my gaming life since I was 14(playing RuneScape) and I plan on playing them til the day I die. I have played: RuneScape, EVE(not too much though), Star Wars: The Old Republic, Blade & Soul, and Everquest Next Landmark just to name a few. I have played around with some game creation tools, but I have no degree. I can find my way around a 3D modeling program and I have down SOME modeling myself. The only one I have left from moving and changing PCs over the years is a model for a game I am currently writing a story for. I am about to start classes in game design, and hopefully one day be making my own games! I am the first member of NinjaClanFu to join this forum! So, lets talk about some of the history of NinjaClanFu! We started out as a group of three playing Minecraft together, and from there we have played/experienced many different types of games together! We came together as NinjaClanFu with 6 people when Ark: Survival Evolved was released in Early Access on Steam. We slowly grew in number from there because of some mishaps with a couple of people we added. But, we are always looking for more members in the future! NinjaClanFu won't be any type of corporation, but we will be looking to build a community to thrive and prosper. This includes everything that the game will have to offer from miners to pvp to any sort of administration we might develop! We are currently planning on being explorers for a while, and hopefully finding a nice place to set up camp and get started on growing! We currently aren't recruiting, but that can change soon! When we do start recruiting(if you would like to join us), we will likely have an application with MMO history and would like to know your experience in building, mining, PVP, and so forth. Additionally, we would prefer to meet will people in TS, Discord or something similar. Maybe even play some games together to see how we click! Play styles won't have to be exactly the same, but we would like to add people who have a similar, if not the same vision. Anything else you would like to know about NinjaClanFu or myself, don't be afraid to ask!
