If i can choose to turn it off, sure why not.
If it's implemented without that option then I'll just troll people with noise or with useless and very Bad music

CoreVamore got a reaction from huschhusch in Character Tag with Mini-Logo's of Corps that the character belongs too
I thought that once we are in game, and if the corps are big enough, you may not know that the guy/gal walking behind you isnt a stalker, just a fellow corp-mate going to the same place as you.

This could be fixed by having little corp mini logo's shown in the characters tag. Maybe to a max of 5 logos.

(Having corp mini logo's on part of the characters body would also be good - maybe on the shoulder/upper arms? This could be all the logo's as there are more rooms on arms than in tags.)

Assuming there is also a friend or foe system in DU maybe also a little green/grey/red circle in the tag showing if friend/neutral/enemy.

(Though technically, since there are multiple corps, you may have the situation that someone is both friend and foe )

This way you can see friends from foes - most of the times

CoreVamore reacted to Vulcan#1 in Lua Autopilot/ Chatbot
I was looking into Lua scripting and found using cookies and simple return codes you can create a simple Chatbot using Lua scripting. I know there hasn't been alot that has been explained on Lua scripting. But I was curious if there will ever be a point where you can talk or chat directly to a object that has a Lua script. I know scripting can be done for simple things like opening doors when sensors go off. The idea of a chatty command council would be interesting. Like for example if the pilot could tell the ship to change course and it would do so and reply yes sir. But would still need more complex things like landing on a planet or heading in the direction of a planet. Or let's say the ship has taken damage and you need to know where. If you could set up sensors on the ship to detect where affected areas are that could be a good way to use the chat bot to notify you where the damage exactly is. Of course it could be used for other things as well.

If you can just change one small detail of a bought ship/blueprint and resell it as your own: bad gameplay
If you have to manually reverse engineer the whole thing by breaking it down piece by piece, decode lua scripts and figure out the exact working of that ship/blueprint: good gameplay

There are many lovely and informative vids here to get a quick overview of what DU can do now, and what it should be doing in the future as well.

Just remember, for the most part ping speed is only really an issue if you are full time PvP - all the time.

However, most of the time you will digging/building/moving/flying etc etc where a slightly longer ping time just doesn't factor into the equation.

Skilling your character up and practising your 'craft' will more than make up for any ping deficiencies.

AFAIK, you wont be able to blueprint something which itself is the product of a manufactured blueprint.

In the example you  mention above only the alteration would be able to be blueprinted, not the entire construct. At least thats my understanding.

That's a totally different mechanic (overheating, over driving etc) that has nothing to do with what I am proposing.

Remember what I am proposing is just basically an extension of what NQ has said they had in mind as far as game play goes.

Actually, the servers are in an AWS datacentre in the US afaik

Aussies will have longer ping time generally, yes. It's really not that big a deal tbh.

The above has a couple of problems.
Much harder for NQ code for, especially in combat How could anyone be sure exactly what they are getting when buying, say an engine, on the market? Could be made of wood and burn up within the first second of use, and the client may have paid top dollar for it thinking it was a high end Tech 11 component only to be sold what is effectively a dud.

Elements are made by NQ, things like engines etc, these, as far as I know, are not player changeable (except for maybe textures). I hope these aren't what you are referring to as modules?

The world is player made, however not EVERYTHING is player made - some of it (elements and orbital bodies like suns/planets/moon/roids etc) are NQ made.
