Well I wouldn't worry about the grind fest as much as just simply getting enough people to really... not die? There are some problems with invalid preparation and if you are not ready to kindof find a group and get settled in well then.

So in response to to the main topic, let me get onto some more pros and cons.

So first off, we have a big con. It may just be that this isn't your type of game to play for some reason. I doubt this, since you are a fan of both Minecraft and EVE(Time + Grind), so you have some of the requirements for getting into this game. However the other may be that you just aren't getting anywhere quickly. By that I don't mean that you are not really doing anything with skills and such, but that you aren't getting to planets like you want or flying across the sky. This will more likely be when you are in the first stages of the game world, or during the first release. Things are expected to take a while to begin form and may or may not be what you like. It's more Minecraft during those times. Things will pick up the farther into the game the playerbase as a whole gets and it may become like EVE.

So you have a good bunch of general information on the game in the above topic. Let me get into reasons why you would like the game(like ATMLVE did). The game is still being developed and your say has some word on what the developers do. It may not change core game components, but it does change some things about the game. There were players who complained about some core mechanic about the game(it was heated with two sides), however the devs did either change or show their plans for the topic, and kindof cooled down the debate. So joining the game early helps you have some influence in it.

One last thing I might like to add. This community, while not the most generous, is a good one. I can't say some of these people here won't stab you in the back EvE style, but they will most certainly have the same goal of getting to pre-alpha and helping the dev team with the game(by mean of community participation!). I hope we have given you enough info!

P.S. on the pledge this early. I did it when the original kickstarter was going. NovaQuark is certainly going through, as they have game demos at all of the events they go to and are actively participating in the community. There is reason to believe they follow through. So your question should more be on whether or not you think this project is worth it, rather than if they follow through.

    Trying to get work off!

Although working this month has been a nightmare with the time I had to take off for the eclipse. I did get in Wyoming for the 2 minute and 15 second totality, so worth it!

My biggest concern though is going to be if Alpha will continue to stay active through the whole phase for it to be worth it. I mean there is only so much compared to the whole game, wjo;e will be large amounts of content, but how we go about playing the game might make things seem... a little slow until we get the hang of some things.

They can't wait to welcome you to the game. Hope you have a great time!

Side note, while you can join an organization right away, I would advise you to wait and look for what interests you.

Read up on Dual Universe first. I'm sure you have, but always ask questions. Don't hesitate as there is so much more to this game that you have no idea about!

MasteredRed reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Organization management & Exceptional NQ Interventions
    Hi everyone.

Until now, we couldn’t manually manage (remove/promote) Legates in an organization easily on the administration side.
Since Yesterday, we are able to use a feature simplifying considerably the process.

As we already mentioned many times in the past, we (Novaquark) don’t want to involve ourselves in the management of organizations created by players. However, we are also aware that the current (and temporary) state of the management system contains obvious flaws. You know it. We know it. As this is still “work in progress”, we hoped that organizations creators will be reasonable enough to avoid abusing the well-known flaws of the system and would wait that all the rules are implemented before trying to sabotage other organizations.

So we are going to state the obvious here:
It’s ok to “play a bad guy” and use dirty tricks once all the rules are implemented. However, it’s absolutely not ok to start exploiting the flaws of a work in progress system: this is not “playing a bad guy”, this is just toxic behavior and trying to gain an advantage while not playing by the rules.

That’s why - despite our will of non-involvement - we will make exceptions until the full implementation of the RDMS (Rights & Duties Management System) for the Organizations.

Why did we decide to intervene?
    Two reasons:
    1) In the current state, a Legate has much more power than in the final system, due to the minimalistic mechanisms temporarily in place. If in the current system, any Legate has the right to promote a member to Legate status by himself alone, in the final system the default rights will be completely different: promoting a legate will be done only with a vote by majority rule, or the right to promote someone will be given to specific persons and not every Legate.
    2) In the current state, a Legate cannot be demoted by any mean (even by the creator of an organization). In the final system, default configurations will allow to demote a Legate with a vote by majority rule. A Legate could also be demoted by specific persons who have been given the right (most probably by the Organization founder) to do so.

How is this going to work?
Each organization is going to have one "wild card": if there is a problem with the Legates in an Organization, you can contact the support team at support@novaquark. However, keep in mind we (Novaquark) reserve the right to intervene (or not) on a case by case basis.

Example of a case where we will intervene:
Some Legate using the flaw of the current temporary system to vandalize (or generate troubles in) an organization.

Example of a case where we won’t intervene:
Two organizations have merged in one, and now both creators of previous organizations want to mutually exclude each other from the organization. In this kind of case, we won’t remove anyone. We won’t favorize one creator above another. However, we will do our best to help finding a satisfying solution for both parties.

    As a global reminder:
If someone finds a loophole in the rules in place (that may happen), and this loophole is used to generate trouble and spread a toxic behavior, we won’t stay idle watching the situation deteriorating.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

Well I get for practical issues an official tongue works. I assume you're talking on an organization basis and not a game basis by the way.

However I mean documents that might be made public, such as treaties, trade arrangements, and so on. If there is an organization who primarly speaks a different language(say Spanish) and wants to figure out what the trade requirements are for an organization that primarily speaks English, a translation into Spanish would help out greatly. It's just that simple stuff that makes lives on both ends so much easier.

MasteredRed got a reaction from Sunrider44 in Languages translate as the first game in the world..
Well that's why you get good translators. Although I'm not referring to a battle standpoint in this. A battle where translation is needed and such, along with battles themselves, are not in the majority of how we spend our time.

The one thing that is important to remember when working with this game and its mechanics is to think of how to make something sustainable. When negotiating, writing documents, and broadcasting message, you will be able to translate them into common tongues. Covering English, Spanish, French, and a couple others will cover a majority of people. Just simply converting a legal-esk document in-game to explain why this organization isn't attacking this other organization is important. Something that a machine translator doesn't do too well on.

As for the battles, which multilingual battles will not be common, there is a simple solution. If one side is perhaps gathered with another side that speaks a different language, use a simple bridge system. Leave someone to orchestrate the battle in each tongue, and create a bridge by either making the head of the battle bilingual, or make someone bridge the information. Separate the two, but make sure they have a line of communication. Also making things visually based should help.

I think this attempt to unite the community is probably not advised. Even if we can not see who voted what, there is still privacy issues involved here. I can not currently remember if the person who created the poll can see an individual user's vote or not. I haven't created such poll as of right now so I can't comment on it.

Either way, mm, this is a bad way to try and foster community discussion. Not to mention that almost none of us trust you in the first place with our information.

MasteredRed got a reaction from Lord_Void in Organization Alt Finder
Hello Everyone! So as I mentioned back in a post in this topic, I took advantage of the files in the DualScraper repository that was released.

After extracting the data.json file, I split it off into two sections. One for the organizations and one for the users. I then built a python script that could analyze the data files and give you a approximation on how many alts are in any given organization. This means that it detects if the accounts joined the organization on the same day that they were created and they have no pledge status.

I could not detect profile picture, bio, location, and other stuff to help give a better reading, but it should be understandable that these figures are an estimate.

That being said, it reveals some information(that I will not discuss due to it being, well, risky for me to say in nature) and can really help us out in later times.

Now with that being said, there are a couple things that I want to mention about my process of going about this in the first place.

Foremost, this is a python script that I wrote in my spare time. It is built for Python3 and should be fairly bugless in nature. Secondly, it is using the data.json from the DualScraper project. Third, I did not scrape the data or use data that was scraped, besides the data.json file included on the repository(I tried. I have a feeling it's my environment setup.)

Finally, I should mention that Scraping data off the community site is against the TOS and should not be done. From discussions I've had with NQ though, as long as the data is public, it's presumably fine(but don't take that as a one way ticket out of penalties for scraping. I'm not in charge of the site.)

Now you may be asking "but wait? can't I just use the data from http://www.du-stats.com/devtools?"
The answer to that is no. I looked through the data and it does not include join dates. Not to mention it's saved in a csv format.

I as well in no way claim that this will find an alt or is the alt finder. It only allows you to make your own conclusions.
I as well did not scrape the data for this project myself(I tried. Again, my environment needs to be cleaned before I can even try)
I do not endorse nor do I defend the practice of scraping. It is against the TOS and should not be done if you can avoid it.

I as well did not scrape the data for this project myself(I tried. Again, my environment needs to be cleaned before I can even try)
I do not endorse nor do I defend the practice of scraping. It is against the TOS and should not be done if you can avoid it.

If you want to download the project, go ahead and do it here.

MasteredRed got a reaction from Lethys in So many organisations....
    sigh le sigh.

So I'll take this seriously. I'm trying not to cringe. Here we go.

If you want to suggest a way to eliminate spam organizations, you are too late to the table. Spam organizations are currently here for a primary reason of the game not being released yet. Due to the fact that this is a subscription based game, spam accounts are not likely to be filling organizations by the hundreds. This would cause a very big problem for the person financially.

So there is no real problem when it comes to later game. Even if free accounts could join organizations, I'm sure someone will develop a tool to detect if there are too many free accounts in an organization. It is not a problem that I can see causing mass panic.

If you are referring to the game as it is now, then you must realize that "paying" for org creation is a terrible idea. This would limit the creative freedom on the community and while it would do some good, it will mostly hurt. Again, you must realize this before suggesting "make it a paywall!" to the entire community.

    Now, onto another subject....

I would just like to point out some irony here.

The other day, this was released https://github.com/malignantz/DualScraper/

I downloaded the data.json file and got to work on making a small little script to read through what I suspect to be alts of organizations. It's a lovely python script and here's how it detects "suspected alts".

I look through the members of an organization, compare it to the member list, and read the following:

Does the user have a pledge?
Does the user join after the day their account is created?

And if none of those are true, they are marked as a "suspected alt" that I can then output as a number. Now this data is about 11 days old(at the time of writing) and so the data is a bit out of touch with the current events. However, I determined that the number of suspected alts was 66. Now, at that time, The Void Republic member count was 74. Take what you want from that, but it's not appropriate for this to be the case.

Now, I have given these scripts to a select number of people(such as Cybrex) so that they may do their own investigations.

My point is that I'm not really putting up with these types of posts anymore. The solution will eventually fix itself so we must wait for that time.

I mean, maybe you can make an illusion that the sonic boom in this universe is lower than the one in IRL, or you could say that the engines will just produce this sound after a certain point due to a mechanic in the technology. I mean, it's not impossible but making this effect as an actual representation of what happens in real life physics could break some things.

As for everyone who might be wondering, I can say that the concerns that Novaquark addressed with me were brought up and everything was covered. There is no problem as things just simply weren't conveyed correctly. I have fixed that(hence modifying the post and clearing things up) and am continuing the project.

    Hello Everyone!

I'd like to welcome you to this topic today to announce the project that the DUA has been working on for a couple weeks now.

This service will allow you to have an organization website without the hassle of setting it up yourself. Think of it as a way to create something interesting but not have to have all the worries of updating it and maintaining it that would normally be involved. While this service is by no means complete, it will showcase some early features that we are looking to provide you.

    https://duafaction.com/vms/

    https://duafaction.com/tse/

Now some of you may ask the purpose. Let me direct you to the below paragraph.

    Our Purpose

We decided when we began the Diverse Unified Alliance(Now Diverse Unified Accord) that we wanted to help organizations get on stable grounds in Dual Universe and really thrive. In order to do that, we have proposed a number of services in order to find out if they will be able to help organizations. While we can not nearly implement them all at the moment without access to the game, we can add a number of them now. This is the start of those services.

We hold our ability to deliver upon these services high and hope that you will find a place for them in your organization.

    What you can expect

As we announce this new implementation of our services, let me tell you what you can expect from them:

-A custom designed webpage to feature the content you want on there
-Certification for organizations that meet the DUA's standards
-Ability to track the number of visitors to your webpage.

As of now, we have implemented these features. For future reference, let me point you to what we plan to add.

    -Organization management panel
    -Tracking of organization statistics
    -Multi-page organization hosting

We aim to pave the way for organizations to host their own content. While we can not reveal all our plans, I will go down to the details below.

    Cyrule Certification

Cyrule Certification is a service for the individual member that allows them to vet whether the organization they are looking at is a valid and proper organization. In the future, such things may become a problem. As this services implies, Cyrule of the Diverse Unified Accord will examine each organization to ensure that they follow the standards below:

    -Does not contain Alternative Accounts(Alts)
    -Does not scam members
-Does not engage in malicious practices
-Looks to provide a worthwhile experience to its members

If your organization abides by the standards above, then it is likely to be certified by our Cyrule branch.

    Requirements
There are requirements for entry into this service. This is in part due to the fact that I'm not going to pay for large scale server hosting(like NQ). nor do I want to make a product that would eventually cause problems on a community scale(Needing to put your organization on multiple sites to attract attention).

So, because of such, the following requirements are involved for your organization to be selected as a candidate or for you to apply for these services:

-Does not contain many Alternative Accounts
-Does have good standing with the community
-Does look to gain a website
-Does not tick me angry(ie. enemy)

Additions to the above aforementioned requirements, the following does help your case of your organization's ability to join this service:

-Is a friend of the DUA
    -Is a friend of CSYN
-Is lead by a 'community leader'
-Is small in size and looking for assistance
-Is getting backing by some people or other organizations

    Conclusion

These services are still under heavy development and will need more time to branch out. However, we offer early adopters a chance to be engaged in the early design process and give them an opportunity to make something great of this service.

My name is MasteredRed of the Diverse Unified Accord. I thank you for your time.

    Addition of The Solar Empire

Hello Everyone! I would like to inform you that we are adding another organization to the current service. If you would be so kind as to welcome The Solar Empire!

    https://duafaction.com/tse/

    Why we are adding them?

The Solar Empire is one of the organizations that we contacted before we launched the DUA Services. I have been working with their leader(MrStarWars) in order to determine if they would have valid interest and if they qualified. After running our tests to determine if they were a candidate, we found that they were such.

Their member base is also fairly large, and they did not have a website(Nor is there any plans for one), making them a very interesting example of an organization that can benefit from our services.

Due to their main appeal being roleplay, they did not need as much for their development, relying on their community in part. While I would not go for their approach(obviously. I started this service after all), I am happy to welcome them on-board.

    Thank you for your interest,
MasteredRed of the Diverse Unified Accord
