I think the auto mining units are a great add to the game. But NQ you really need to add more than half a dozen asteroids to safe zone. They're lot players in this game that don't care to pvp and the safe zone asteroids we do have are mined out to quick. With planet mining going away these asteroids will be over crowed and mined out in hours. I feel you will lose a lot of players in this game if you don't release more safe zone asteroids.

Let's say you had a scan for a given territory. After the update, the scan will still be there in your inventory. It will no longer show you the current underground ore information as this information will now be outdated. Instead it will show you the ore information for the new mining unit feature. So a scan item will still be valid and show relevant information.

Did you watch the video?  They did discuss what happens when you don't pay the taxes.  For two weeks, the tile becomes "inactive" where industry and mining units won't work.  After that, the TU is deleted and the tile becomes available.  The only thing that wasn't clear (because they haven't decided yet) is what happens to constructs on that tile.

Pretty wild speculation given that they haven't even finalized how much the taxes will be.

Oh good, another ridiculous "wiper" who's mad that other people have more quanta then them.

NQ, keeping in touch / doing an Inside Star Cit... / DU video series is a good step in the proper direction.

Also the frequency of client / game updates is getting better.

We definably need a talent respec.

I'm an underground miner, but have never been to an asteroid as I have no interest in the PvP aspect of the game and the safe space ones are low tier and go so fast.

Would be a loss of a lot of my talent points if I were stuck with something I wouldn't use anymore

Will this type of mining yield enough ore to meet current and future demand?

I don't like the idea that multiaccount players will now have a significant advantage in mining.

Why several? You can give bonuses through the units when mining ore, which now takes place on the surface. So you don't just get 20 litres / lump of ore, but more depending on the bonuses and skill.
How many terretories you will still have depends on the amount of the coming taxes and how you manage to add them to the quanta.

    This patch scares me!
I don't like taxes because it usually forces you to farm quanta to pay for them. So it's not enough to just collect ores to build something fancy and have fun - I have to collect Quanta now.
The game at that time promised everything to be player-controlled and that you can play as you like - now there are all these restrictions and guidelines on how you have to play. I don't know, I'll have a look at it at the pts, but I'm worried that it will keep me in the game.

I’d say yes since it’s more or less a generic element function, but @NQ-Ligo can probably confirm it for us.

But I wouldn’t use it if I were you. I would localise the functions you intend on using and iterate over the construct list. radar.getData() causes a massive amount of lag in the game because it’s formatting the entire data set into JSON and then we decode that JSON, causing even more overhead. It’s significantly worse using it so I would definitely avoid it.

I did a test for this btw. That single function caused 20ms of lag, this meant it actually caused the entire frame to wait for that to complete each time, meaning what should have been 30 FPS ended up being 15 FPS. This is in a 2000 core area, true, but it goes to show that it’s stupidly costly lag-wise.

When you have more than 4 fuel tanks of the same sort (atmo or space), the fuel window gets a scrollbar.
The command seat has only 10 connection available where 1 is already taken by the core.
So why not have a fuel hub that only takes up 1 seat connection and have the hub display the fuel tanks in a window with a scrollbar?

I think its pretty lame that we can only connect 10 things to a command seat. Also I think that solving this problem with lua-fuel screens n stuff should be an option, not mandatory. An L-core is a pretty big ship, 1 AGG, 1 warp, 1 radar, 1 ECU, 1 core, 1 gyro, 1 shield and there goes 7 of the 10 connections available, with a fuel hub this would not be a problem (you can still have 20 fuel tanks on this massive ship).

And the on/off switching of engines. we can already connect them to relays/switches, why cant we turn them on/off? Yes it can be done with 'simple' lua, but I dont know why I should learn lua for this game when the things are already in place. Why doesnt the on/off switch work on engines, but you can connect them? Is it more fun to make it difficult for players?
For parking in space or taxi on the runway, its very handy to have some engines turned off.

it's not NQs job to provide factions. It's up to the players to come up with that and it's up to the players to band together to hunt and kill pirates or to make some pocket of the pvp zone relatively safe - see EVE, works there since 2004. Don't see a reason it wouldn't work here if ppl actually started working together

I love DU- and IMHO this game is in a better place than it's been since I started playing right after beta launched.  NQ has started to turn things around, is it perfect? no. Is it improving? mostly! Does it still need work? well it's still beta haha

When missions came out, it opened up the flood gates of quanta for many small-to-large orgs. It was profitable to run Aphelia missions in the safe zone, and in pvp space as a solo player.  Currently with the inflation in the market on ore prices quadrupling in a matter of months.... causing fuel costs to skyrocket, it's nearly impossible to turn a decent profit for running aphelia missions anymore... and I see a ton less people  taking them/delivering at Market 3 on Madis as time goes on.

Meanwhile, asteroids come out- with them giving us something to fight over... high tier ore that's in short supply planet side. Activity flourishing, finally orgs have some new targets and possibly something to actually fight over. With it, spawning an entire player-driven war of sorts, creating player driven content and contention. Though, in time- the price of high tier ore has decreased to the point of roid hunting/mining loosing it's profitability- with nearly the same hour of time spent mining an asteroid a player can make on a planet mining T1 / T2(and not even meganodes....), not even including the risk of loosing a ship.... a ship that was ultimately dug out of the "ground" by hand..... and for many not worth the risk.

The missing piece? autominers, they're coming soon, people are getting ready for them and old players are starting to have their ears perk up a bit again... and probably one of the hardest to balance. From land being horded/claimed in mass- to how much they'll mine per hour.... and price of creating them.  And while any suggestions may be too late, I would urge... air on the side of /more/ I'd personally like to see this game move from spending countless hours mining- to spending countless hours creating and growing the player made content in the universe.

With enough ore supply orgs could finally have the resources to expand without burning out members on the "grind", it'd allow for more people to get into PVP- with my hopes to allow orgs an easier way to gain ore and fleet fields of ships to be destroyed... so not every major PVP loss feels like hours of your life gone. This PVE content could help balance the needs of PVP, bringing lower tier ore prices down- making roid hunting and high tier ore mining more viable again... and in doing so balance the price of fuel/mission system to be more viable again as a solo player.

So am excited for this next path, and hope that it brings some much needed balance to the game.

NQ install patch 0.23 >>> cryers claim for easy game >>> NQ remove 0.23 >>> game going easy >>> game going boring >>>> cryers leave boring game.....

Eve online dont listen cryers, this game is up since 20 years in hard mode, even safe zone is never safe....

people cry when they see the difficulty, but they are even happier after overcoming it.

you promised to make an eve online mixed with Minecraft in a newspaper that I read in France. 0.23 was consistent with this vision.

all being alive is a natural learning process. one does not become good at chess by playing against weaker than either.

you do not gain muscle by lifting a pencil, it takes heavy, difficulty to build yourself well.

a game that is too easy is a game without challenge, it is very boring.

NQ please, stop listening to people who cry to make it easier, they don't know that in reality they will like and be proud of them when they have overcome the obstacle.

you promised only Sanctuary would be safe, and we all know Sanctuary is a bad place to develop. But as you had promised that only Sanctuary would be safe zone forever, many of us settled there our first base ..... and when you declared a few months later that finally all the safe zone Alioth + madis + thades will remain safe, how many of us have found ourselves disgusted with our base on sanctuary which is a bad planet ... how many have left because of this radical change in policy.
You promised to make Dual Universe an engaging game, in the Eve online and minecraft styles. However Eve online is a hard core game, we are never completely safe in eve online. This is what you promised and it is this clientele that you have attracted with your marketing communications. AND by withdrawing 0.23 because of some mourning, you have betrayed your target hard core gamer clientele.
We are not sado mazo, we simply know that difficulty is a powerful engine of evolution. and when we succeed in overcoming obstacles we become stronger and proud of ourselves.
DUAL universe might be the game of the century, but not some super easy game that will end up annoying even those who cried.

    please 0.23 come back

but this wouldn't really change anything - alts ftw

besides: everyone NEEDS some kind of safezone where their shit is safe. otherwise ppl will not bother with pvp at all - reducing gameplay, oppertunity, market value and everything. also, not being able to use the market is kinda silly (again: alts are a thing) because then you just exclude more ppl from participating in a meaningful way. The consequences and risk being a pirate ARE there:
you are already KOS anywhere for certain orgs and they hunt you.

punishing PVP players because they actually do what DU wants them to do (pvp in the pvp zone) is not really the way to go. instead people should finally realize that entering the pvp zone automatically means they consent to PVP and that they might lose their ship.

For all intents and purposes, the world in which humanity exists in is very much PVP orientated. While a smattering of civil safe spaces do exist, those are not inpregnible beyond the application of a given amount of force by anyone determined enough.

In the civilian world, civilization is generally upheld by the acceptance of various rules and regulations. Then there's the ~1% of the US population (2.3M, based on 2020 data, I also use US data because we have the highest incarceration rate worldwide) that thinks they are beyond the rules. While a fair amount are locked up for things like drug offenses, simple possession, and other various self-harms or even non-harms respectively, you have your other crowd that puts innocent people in danger.

While the rules in place to maintain orderly civilization exist, it is important to note that they can be freely broken, even in areas of high protection and regulation. Indeed, the only hard limits that exist really come down to our technology and imagination. There are no truly safe spaces when it comes to humanity, we are deceptive, cunning, intelligent, and a whole lot of other adjectives.

We like to consider our homes relatively safe. They have windows and doors, both with locks on them and surrounded by walls to protect what's inside from what's outside. While various measures can be taken to protect your home without turning it into a fortress, home invasions and burglaries still occur.

Exiting the privacy of our own homes the private sector plays host to a variety of security zones from completely undefended to active and visual protection. If you think 'America' and 'pvp', one of the first things that comes to mind which I'm reluctant to discuss, is the multitude of shootings you've probably seen in the news over the years. When the pressures of conformity from society are rejected and non-active security measures are ignored or bypassed altogether, what puts down a bad guy with a gun is usually a good guy with a gun. This can come from either a member of the general public or the civil authority.

Speaking of which, while bastions of the civil authorities are generally very well protected, in America recent riots and occupations of such areas in recent months and years by 'hostile' forces have proven these areas not always so secure.

Stepping things up a level to military instillations, incidents in 1995 and as recently as 2018 where individuals ended up commandeering armored vehicles without prior authorization and putting the public in danger.

Again, we occupy a distinctly PVP world because we are a distinctly PVP orientated species. If we did not spec up in the form of PVP required aspects, then our ancestors would not have survived this world which is filled with animals (PVP), dangerous landscapes (PVE), and a changing and hostile climate (PVE). Why you don't see people killing people everywhere is due to the afore mentioned pressures of civilization. While we have the means to easily take another persons life, we are expected to follow within a set of rules where without such there would be anarchy.

The barista that made your coffee, do you think they're out to get you? Did they add a drop of poison to your fancy and expensive frozen whipped cream carmel covered mochahopafropakappahappasuperduperfreakyexpensivelatte? Are they out to engage in PVP with you, or are you just another person of the thousand that they'll meet today, some of whom they'll never meet again? I don't think they tainted your morning joe, what would they have to gain from that, more importantly, what would they have to lose?

This is turning into a rant isn't it?... I could go on and on, but simply put, this is a bad idea. While the idea of perpetual safety is great, it's impossible since it will lead to almost zero economic churn, prices will crash since sales aren't being made, profit isn't being made so supply isn't being generated because its a waste of time and production then becomes a matter of individuals. You building everything you want to build, do everything you want to do, then what?

Games only have 'moments' that people remember and keep playing because what-happened-happened whether it was good or bad. It was exciting and unexpected. Maybe one party didn't find that the case and all their time and work went up in smoke, same thing happens IRL too, learn from it and maybe next time take preventive measures too.

As a rescuer, I don't find the idea of someone shooting me and making off with my stuff too pleasant. Now I need rescuing, the person I'm rescuing needs to wait longer, our org is both down a ship and supplies, and needs to make another dispatch to pick up the pieces. We don't put guns on our stuff, but we do fly with folks who do. We take steps like flying outside the pipes to reduce the chance for an interception, we remember the names of those who wrong us, and any time we get knocked down, we look what went wrong to see if we can't make it right next time.

    Ahh, another uno reverse card...

No, no it doesn't count. Bronies are no different than people who collect Power Rangers figures and watch all the seasons of the show. Furries are a whole new classs of "...what" on their own.

Funny story to illustrate my point.

Once in the town I attended university, there was a furry party going, the first in the city back then. I was unaware of it being that same night I was out. So, as I am returning home, on that friday night, having drunk a bit more than usual, two guys try to mug me. At that moment, unbeknownst to me, three guys come out of the nearby alley behind me, ones only the aspiring thugs could only see. Those guys were dressed in full on furry costumes, dressed as some weird WTF-wolf creature. Now, think about it. Dark alley, you see three tall figures with pointy ears, sounds heavy (cause of the masks they wear) and it's a full moon night.

    But no, wait, there's more.

Those thugs start backpeddaling because ... three humanoid wolf-creatures came out of the dark alley.m making what seems to sound guttural noises. But even more as a cruel twist of irony, those 3 furries were meeting up with some local friends of theirs to head to the party the same night, so they took a detour through those alleys. As the thugs start going away, furry group B shows up heading our way from the direction the thugs were backpeddaling towards. Never seen thugs - with knives mind you - climb up a chain-link fence as fast as they did, into a building project going on nearby and cutting through it to the main road.

So yeah. Bronies can be made fun of, cause if you see one in a dark alley, you won't think "oh shit, I forgot my silverware at home".
