Did you tokenize the construct? If so you should have a token in your inventory and you can activate it

I know I know but it was announced on discord, game will be down for about an hour to fix the market issue, but they took the server out unannounced well because it was an exploit, should be back up in about 15 minutes, hopefully

DU is a sandbox, there is no endgame and no rails.
You make your own stories and your own purpose. The game will give you back what you put in.

It's not "what can I do now", it is what do you want to do now and how do you want to do it. The choice is with you here, its not for the game to present these opportunities to you, you create them yourself.

Gerald_Deemer reacted to Gryffin-1 in Introduction, observations, and opinion
Greetings and hello to the community!:

I wanted to play the game for a while before I posted anything.

I want to first thank Novaquark for an incredible game and their welcoming and grateful attitudes expressed in so many ways to this growing community. I've played many games before and was, in all honesty, surprised by these attitudes. I felt valued and welcomed as a  customer and I want to personally express my thanks for all the effort Novaquark does in recognizing the community in these positive manners that in my opinion will build a solid community and solid relationships.

One of the first observations I made before I even logged in the first time was the awareness by the developers that the game needed to be immersive but not to complicated and to keep the game as simple as possible so that folks could enjoy the gameplay without having to spend an inordinate amount of time with a massive learning curve or system. This has been accomplished quite well with what I have seen so far.

As for the gameplay itself, I have waited for just under 40 years for a game like this. Other games have attempted to achieve this but limited themselves in size, to many static objects or limiting parameters.

Dual Universe had me within the first hour!

It has been a long time since I have been so excited about a game! So much potential and so equally balanced! I like limited inventories versus what is built to contain them and I like inventories that don't follow a pilot wherever they go unless containers are made to tranp[or them. This is much more realistic. The crating and blueprinting in this game is another fantastic approach. No more static ships! Organizations will really have a great time creating ships/equipment designs that can be sold on the markets providing even yet another way for these organizations to make a name for themselves and a stronger and better in-game economy.

I absolutely believe in the success of this game and can hardly wait for the universe to come!!

So much more to say but will sum it up by saying thank you again for giving us this game that many of us have hoped for, for so long!

It´s a long term project. Maybe things like that will come in future but I think this is not of high priority because who wants to sit in his well designed living room when there is a universe to explore/built/conquer?

What content? That´s the question. There is just a giant sandbox with millions of players in it. There will be no "new content"

    @Warden and Merwyn:
Well I think they all got paid already or would you work for years without payment?
Renting a high end server costs 14,95$ per month. Can´t be that expensive.

Wow! So all FTP MMOs are made by volunteers?  (sarcasm)

I see your point. They all need to be paid for creating no further content. Just traveling around the world and presenting the game. Cool. ( this was a joke)

    Seriously:
I think the costs will be refinanced within the first 6 months after launch. Let´s say 1 year after lauch. And then? Either NQ will boot half of it´s staff (which is not unusual in the gaming industry) or they need thier programmers to create content. But nobody can say what "content" really is in Dual Universe. At that point a monthly fee is no longer bearable and they have to go FTP (with lootboxes or shops)

What is the monthly fee for? Just for saving the players progress?

Novaquark just has to keep the server(s) running.
They don´t have to create new content, they don´t have to create new maps or zones. There are no quests, no NPCs no PVE content.

Don´t get me wrong, I´m willing to pay a monthly fee but I would like to know what for as the community is generating all the content.

In addition to what others said, there's never really an "end". Maybe an "end" is set, but there can always be more unique content and objects, furniture, interaction possibilities, etc. And if someone has to work on it, payment has to be guaranteed each month.

We also do not know additional investments NQ might make later on, or if they branch out and want to create other games in the long run.

It might sound "ignorant" but I think NQ did some math at least (and constantly does it) and roughly knows with what model they can survive or keep operating in the long run, and I trust that (since I can also pay or obtain the game time by paying hard cash or utilizing DAC) calculation over the needs of users who'd prefer free access.

Of course, from an egoistic consumer POV, I also would not mind being able to play for free endlessly as the 10 to 15 bucks can always be utilized elsewhere. But that may not guarantee a long run of the game.

Let´s see how this will go on. I bet there will be new organisations which go on top but are not listed yet. On the other side there will be organisations go down, be taken over or be swallowed by bigger ones.

If the universe in DU will be that big, you won´t see much other players out there exept on the starting planet of course. And by the way: Boo reminds me on a pink jubby anime creature. Nobody wants to be a Boo.

BUT: I must admit your recruiting post is very impressive. Nice work!

Gerald_Deemer got a reaction from Phroshy in The big log on / log off question
Here is a potential problem that came in my mind today. I hope I can explain it clearly.

Imagine the following situation. You fly with your ship onto a planet. The planet seems unpopulated and safe. You land on it and leave your ship to investigate by foot. Then you log off and go to bed. You re-enter the game the next day.

Here is the question: Will you still be on that planet or will you spawn somewhere else?

    Possible answers:

NO - you will spawn at the ark ship or at the nearest check point
This would be very sobering right? If you fly through space for hours finding a cool place, a secret or recources and you log in and spawn at the ark ship! No good because you have to do the same way again. Even if you would spawn at a near station / check point / wormhole or whatever. Maybe you will find this place never again or you have to travel a distance to find it.

YES - you will spawn at the same spot you left the game
This is in fact the real problem! You log in the next day and another player built his secured station exacly on that point. What will happen to your avatar? Will you spawn in the ohter players station? (Maybe trapped forever because of the security shield?) You could be trapped in a player built building / cavern / structure. Will you spawn in this construction or on this construction or next to this construction?
The same could happen to your ship. How is this gonna be solved?

    Just a thought.

Gerald_Deemer reacted to wizardoftrash in Power Cores (suggestion)
I think this thread has confused two elements of the game:

The Core Unit, which is what determines the size and type of construct (small ship, large building, etc) provides the max build area and the ID of the physical object

And Power Unit, which serves as a fuel tank or battery for player and construct systems.

For now, we have only seen one power unit deployed in a demo, and it was deployed in the sample ship. We may find out that there are different strengths of power units, different classes meant doe each size of construct, and we may even be able to place more than one in the same construct.
As it stands though, there is no specifics on how it works, but we may find that it is not the power unit that determines the ship's stats, but what elements are on the ship.

It might be that for a 100% speed ship, you've just got to have high-tier engines, but that a common Power Unit won't power high tier engines. Balance and specialization may determine what combinations of power units and elements will translate to ship stat blocks.

Gerald_Deemer got a reaction from gyurka66 in Power Cores (suggestion)
What if you could set up the power cores balance?

For example if you build a ship you have to integrate a power core.

So what if you could do a set up saying the power core does these stats as a standard setting:
    33,3 % shield energy
    33,3 % weapon energy
    33,3 % acceleration / top speed

If you could change the power balance freely for your build ships e.g.
    50 % shield energy
    25 % weapon energy
    25 % acceleration / top speed

Or if you would like to build a real fast spy ship:
    0 % shield energy
    0 % weapon energy
    100 % acceleraion / top speed

So I think this would be very interesting and every ship would be nearly unique and exactly that kind of ship what the builder wanted to create. This idea gets really exiting if you choose to put 2 or 3 power cores in a one-seater.

I think it could be a really cool tool.

After watching the kickstarter video I have to admit that I´m impressed.

I´m sure Dual Universe will be the better game compared to the direct rival Star Citizen.

But there is one thing I miss deeply and that is PVE Content!

Are you planning to add some kind of enemy races or mean spirited aliens?
I mean the game looks awesome but exploring the universe without any risk is not very thrilling. Okay you got the other players who might troll you, but I think some PVE content and a pinch of mystery would make the game perfect.

I think there are lots of ohter (not PVP) players out there thinking the same way.

But I hope the kickstarter will be a success and wish you guys from Novaquark all the best!

Otherwise if you plan to keep the alien races a secret until the first player gets in contact with them I have to admit you guys are brilliant!

The only way to slow down the space pirates is to punish them.

OK, it´s a sandbox game where everyone can do what he wants. But if a player is a known pirate he should be judged.
That means no entry into the safe zone, no legal trading anymore and so on.

If you have the "fun" to be a pirate and disturb normal palyers you should take the consequences.
If pirates and destroyers won´t get punished in some way, the game will fail. Think about it to recognize that this is the truth.
