that could be achieved with "energy consumtion" in factories - a bigger factory is more focussed on WarpCells and WarpDrives plus some "Uncommon Military L-Atmospheric Engines" but then has no capacity anymore for some of the pipes /screws or even "uncommon burners" which are needed in the example above.

Each Account has his Energy pool and he can also share some with his org (similar to the tile contrubution).
Someone who wants to use 3 accounts to have enough for the full industrie also pays 3x subs. And anyone's happy. Otherwise its either T1 products or the fancy stuff, but not both at the same time (=longer production times).

That way we could get rid of the schematics as well - otherwise we'll be back to the pending operation orgies.

THE PERFECT SOLUTION for so many issues - but never ever seen or acknowledged by NQ.

This is nothing new, and is how NQ has been operating for years (I would estimate it started when their first and overly optimists release date in late 2018 was blown). And this behavior has already been blowing up in their faces multiple times with players in a uproar and leaving over it.

And the really, really bad and scary thing is that NQ has not learned a single thing from past mistakes and are still behaving in the exact same way even as they get closer and closer to a full 'release'.

And we have long since reach a point where NQ has nobody but themself to blame. Since this is no longer about lack of money or time (of which they have had plenty) but instead about consistent and atrociously bad planning and behavior from NQ towards the community, with only sporadic and symbolic "we hear you" attempts at improving that quickly fall to the wayside.

I fully understand the situation NQ is facing for their project. They want it to be successful at start. But they cant make it right for anyone.
An elephant on the wire as I used to say

Where is the common denominator ... to keep most of the vets and attract the potential new players ?
I wish you @NQ to make some good choices there.

If I'm loosing all my work, its a terrible thing - but if you give me some good motivation to start over again, I'm fine.

    Thumbs up @NQ

I believe you missed the Memo that Athena was the last major patch for release.
What makes this all borderline funny  is that NQ is likely had a hard deadline for release maybe 3-4 months from now and still claims they have not yet made the decision on a wipe.

Some of us are stil lhoping for a miracle, although it's pretty much clear by now it's not going to happen.

Imho, there's no sence of podcasts to answer questions while the Big Question still goes unanswered - wipe/not wipe.

Its the toughest issue to propose an answer for, and whatever decision is made will most likely upset one half of the community or the other.

But players are becomming unmotivated to play the game in face of an unsure future, this is killing the game.

So, address the elephant in the room before the elephant drives everyone out of the room.

Post your vision of what you believe is the best alternative, but make it clear that it is proposal, not final, and still open to changes, so players won't start jumping out of windows.
Then give us a few days to absorb the impact, overcome our cycle of Denial/Anger/Bargaining/Depression/Acceptance, and provide you feedback.

Ajust whatever is possible in your proposal, rinse, repeat. A few rounds of proposal and feedback might help drive the issue in the right direction.

Reading many of the topic comments, two things seems to be NOT negotiable - keeping talent points and player construct blueprints. It's a start, build up from there.

    Best of luck!

Thank you dear NQ team for leaving a small comment. It will definitely not be an easy decision but you have received really good suggestions from the community. In principle, you would now only need to select and weigh what makes the least harm to the future of DU, old and new hares, technically necessary, etc pp. Personally, I have after all the posts and suggestions a golden middle ground together. But since none of us knows what you really need / want to do, it's hard to see through.
So to be honest I'm a little frustrated to be put on the back burner here. It's hard for me to find motivation to continue with the existing projects because I don't know what's going to happen. And I think that's how a lot of people here feel about "keeping the lights on".

Lack of communication for the past 3 weeks regarding the wipe/no wipe has left many of us unsure of what to next.

How can you talk about the potential wipe details and then say nothing for 3 weeks. Now you respond with this and still say nothing useful about the wipe.

Then you talk about having a podcast to answer questions.

The only question everyone wants answered right now is "What are the wipe details and do I get to keep my talent points?"

    Absolutely.
An unclaimed tile should be reseeded somehow after a month of no visit/digging there - also mix some few rare ore into it so anyone once has the chance to get some Goldnuggets too.
That would be a nice addition to the PVP Asteroid Gameplay and Scanning-orgies and gives ppl who like(ed) the mining their sandbox back.

For the time I'm playing I'd like to have a reward.
Keep the MU's, why not. But also reseed the tiles all 3 months to kill that infinite lucky bastard rush.

The fewer players that are currently left over, the quieter it becomes during the wipe. So there is hardly anything standing in the way of a restart. The only question is whether it will really attract so many new players and whether the players who were scared away would come back.
It is simply annoying when this info is not finally published.

Captain Hills reacted to Knight-Sevy in Voxel and Venting : What does the Game Design team think ?
    Hi,

There has been a change in the HP value of shields to align them with voxels
    => It's a good thing

But when I try to see if it is relevant to use voxel to be able to play with the venting function. I can't find anything conclusive.

I made a small table to see if it is interesting to use an M shield and the voxel. Or if it is more relevant to go directly to a L shield :

The M shield is 30 Tons.
So I have the right to use 95 Tons of voxels before reaching the weight of the L shield.

At the resistance level, I decided to go with the average values. The fact that the shield has a dynamic resistance management function is an argument in its favor. Keep it in your mind.

From what we can see on the table, the best armor that gives us the most hit points is the T1 plastic voxel.
    Average: 6,666,000 + 8,750,000 = 15,416,0000
In 2nd and 3rd position we find the Al-LI and the SC-Al.

The shield L has 13,333,000 life points.
Which is slightly worse than plastic shielding.
But now we must remember that its resistance values are dynamic, which will certainly make it pass in real condition.
You should also know that during the venting phase, you take the risk of losing elements and seeing your combat capacity reduced.

    Analysis :
If you can upgrade your shield size, you should. This will always provide you with much better protection than that offered by the voxel.

    Problems to be solved:
    - The values of % of resistance do not correspond to the tier of the voxels, we end up with a plastic of tier 1 always clearly more efficient than the others. Tier 5 was particularly lagging behind.
    - Venting phases are currently unplayable if using XS, S, and M size shields.
    - The TTK values of weapons seem unbalanced when comparing the hitpoint values which seem really low for elements and voxels. Kiling all very faster.

I think it would be nice if the game designer could chime in on this thread to clarify how he sees the use of these shields and the venting phase.

    See you later,

Provided you prepare and use the tools you really should have to mitigate the risk, yes. If you are just Bad N  Dumb, you really have no excuse when you get caught.

The major problem with DU is that NQ is unable to create a balanced game because they have no idea how to accommodatee that. They just move the parts around without ever actually changing anything. And as the core of the game is extremely basic and really has no provision for anything creative and NQ lacks the ideas to make things happen with what they have.

They have the base idea, but hen fail to actually build that into a feasible gameplay option that is attractive to the intended audience.

Take the Alien core.. It is a good idea but really just dropped in with a few relating elements and the idea that players will sort it all out. And so, all it does is attract the combat focused players.

More and more it feels like NQ's "game design team" actually is not that at all, they are a group of devs who design gamemechanics which is something very different and would be a team which actual game designers work with to create their ideas and content.

I just don't understand how NQ manages to always come up with subpar solutions to problems, some times even breaking the game trying to solve problems that does not exist like element collision and the latest nerf of elements.

There are SOO many ways NQ could have made this game better and more interesting, many of them without requiring a lot of dev time. But instead they seem to be spending most of the dev time breaking the game down and making it less enjoyable.

Take for example the cave systems you find everywhere on Alioth. All NQ has to do, is to randomly spawn large ore clusters (like the ones you get from the mining units, but on steroids) inside those caves and voila. Instant sense of exploration in the game that serves a purpose, and at minimal dev cost using mostly existing functionality no less. Then spend a little bit more dev time and have some rare occurrences of higher grade ore/aliens artifacts/collectible items/whatever spawn in the caves also, and people would go nuts.

And this is just me writing down the first thought that occurred to me, while NQ staff is supposed to be thinking about such things all day long.

When they get rid of Schematics, energy distribution of some sort needs to be implemented anyways, not just for the drills but also for the Industry. We'll face a lot of "pending operations" otherwise.

I like the idea to get rid of the taxes and use the old system but get a money sink because of the fuel for the drills.

I really just don’t understand why miners and industry territory beacons, weapons AGGs, warp beacons don’t require fuel to run.
    They are perpetual engines.

even NMS has better fuel and power management gameplay than this game, and that’s a casual minecraft like game.

imagine if it actually required copious amounts of energy to keep everything running. Balanced correctly that would keep things in check far more than stupid taxes and keep consumption rates high.

element maintenance requiring bolts, pipes and chambers etc should obviously be a thing. Every x hours a component on your ship needs one or more of the parts it’s made from replacing.  Leaving it unmaintained would cause it to degrade and eventually need replacing.

the gameplay could be simple like repairing but instead of just scrap, it needs the actual parts in your active container.

Or it could be more involved like swapping the parts with working parts (using a new swap tool) and taking the broken parts to a dedicated service station

even these alone would ensure greater need for parts and services.

Hello, Noveans! We’ve teased graphical upgrades coming to Dual Universe in Athena across our social media over the past couple of weeks, but we also want to present them to you now together to give a clear picture of what’s changing ahead:

    NEW SKYBOX
A stunning skybox is essential for enjoyable space flight in games, and Dual Universe is no exception. Whether you’re hauling outside the pipes, hunting within them, or trying to claim an Alien Space Core Unit, you’ll fly in the new skybox coming with Athena.

    BLUEPRINT PRE-VISUALISATION

The ability to see your blueprints visualized in the game before placing them, and to finely control their placement using keyboard keys will improve our player’s quality of life when deploying constructs.

    IMPROVED WATER VISUALS
Living under water in Dual Universe can be more meaningful with the upgrade to our water VFX. Whether you want a sub-aquatic factory, to loop your racetrack below the water line, or simply have an internal pool, we hope you’ll like the way water looks now in Dual Universe.

    NEW WARP VFX
White streaks are part and parcel of space games, they mean we’re moving fast! But, with the graphical overhaul to our warp travel, we hope you’ll enjoy the feel of spending a warp-cell or two roaming Helios.

    -----------------------------------------

We’re always carefully reading your feedback. Do you like the new warp vfx, or the new skybox? Please share your thoughts in this forum thread.

I was not bashing his ideas at all, in fact I agree with most of them. IMO though, NQ has made choices and has limitations at this point which prevent them from consideration which is a real shame.

You may not agree but at the same time I doubt you can counter my comments with anything meaningful or show them totally false. And in that regard, your post would be pretty much what you define mine as..

I would really lke to see NQ stepup and prove me wrong. Problem here is that I have been waiting for them to do that for the last three+ years and based on their current situation, I have little hope they may yet do so.

To me, DU has promise and potential but (due to the mismanagement by JC) is driven be a focus on saving cost and keeping the company developing it alive first and foremost where NQ has, does and will sacrifice and comprimise mostly anything to achieve that. And that is just not a healthy breeding ground for a game the scale and complexity DU can be. If someone were to pull a NMS on NQ, shrink them down to 10-15 people and hunker down with a good chunk of cash then maybe they could make the game work.

You can disagree with my view which is fine and my opinion really does not reflect on any one staffer at NQ. At the top level NQ has already moved on and is in the process of getting their next project off the ground (which I expect is monetizing their server/voxel engine). DU will see a release and from there will be sink or swim with continued minimal support from the side of NQ as far as I have set my expectations..
