There's a new article on Oz, by DU's Alsan_Teamaro. It's his first piece and by all means, a solid entry.
@Alsan_Teamaro's article on Oz takes a look at the organisational structures in Dual Universe, with some funny puns and videos along with it. If you are thinking of building an organisation or already have one and need some tips on the mode of governance (not all leaders are dictators), Alsan's article is an insightful - if witty - piece.
Head over to Oz to have a read. Who knows? You might learn a thing or two about keeping the cannon fodder in line orgaanisation members happy.
Oz Team.

Alsan Teamaro reacted to CalenLoki in Sociological survey: what's your main focus of fun in DU?
Engineering for combat. So building things, then blowing other things with it. Or getting blown, then building better things.
Quite possibly in semi-protected environment, like player-made sport arenas. Just to be able to spend more time building/fighting than searching for opponents.

Dont fool yourself, you know what your HEART want. That right, it is it. You know better than anyone else that the most thing you will want to do in DU is ....

MINING.

Alsan Teamaro reacted to NanoDot in Sociological survey: what's your main focus of fun in DU?
I'll most likely gravitate towards industry/logistics, with PVP in security and recon areas.
It's impossible to tell at this point where I'll spend more time, it all depends on how the eventual game play is implemented. I imagine that the gathering of intel and analysis of that intel will be an important factor in DU's huge game world. My focus will be on the strategic side rather than the tactical.

Alsan Teamaro reacted to Demonneo in Sociological survey: what's your main focus of fun in DU?
I would like to try all the options except being leader or having a special position within an organization . But i believe that exploring and searching for rare resources to mine them and later building something cool with the people from my organization will be my favorite part of the game. PvP might also be one of my interests but it will depend on how it's implemented. So far we have seen nothing about it.

Alsan Teamaro reacted to vylqun in Sociological survey: what's your main focus of fun in DU?
mostly research and pvp coupled with the necessary building for pvp, i'm to lazy to find a group of ppl to play with, so i'll most liekly try to get the most automatized ship possible^^

Alsan Teamaro reacted to CoreVamore in Sociological survey: what's your main focus of fun in DU?
It may actually mean that the FC equivalent in DU might be the Captain of a medium to large ship, not quite the same thing, but still guiding a team of players to work as one. It should be interesting

Alsan Teamaro reacted to Lethys in Sociological survey: what's your main focus of fun in DU?
Can't say yet, that depends on how mechanics work.
I loved PvP, trading and production in Eve and was quite successful in those. I FCd a lot of fights in wormholes too.
This only means, that I'm interested most in those topics but that doesn't mean that I'll actually end up doing it. It depends on how it's done in DU.
I may be enjoying mining a lot more than PvP - I just don't know yet.
I was a good FC in eve but that doesn't mean that I'm good in leading fights in DU.
I PLAN on doing PvP, Trading, production, exploring and leading fleets - but that doesn't neccessarily mean that i focus on them after release

Alsan Teamaro reacted to Orius in Ice Moons and Cryovolcanism
This is a continuation from my earlier post on tectonic plates.
Ice moons. They could somehow have their own atmosphere, similar to Titan, and have massive subsurface oceans underneath. This subsurface ocean would be a great resource for travellers, as it could possibly be split and used for oxygen for air to breathe and hydrogen for fuel, respectively. It could also be used as a gateway for life.
With ice moons and subsurface oceans comes the possibility for cryovolcanism. Similar to Enceladus, we could have massive geysers expelling water into space.
That's all I have to say on the topic, because my brain is dead. I'm sure you can find something else that I just haven't yet put my finger on to put in this post. I'm brain dead right now.

Alsan Teamaro reacted to Orius in Option to Turn off Player Nametags
Dual Universe should have the option to turn off player nametags. This should be implemented as purely a performance issue, but I could see it being used for cosmetics (screenshots, gameplay, etc). The reason this should be possible is because some players' computers will not be able to handle the high stress levels of the single shard universe, especially with floating nametags having to be rendered along with computing the server load. This could also serve some practical purposes as well, such as only showing the players' nametags that are only in your organization(s). This could ensure that you don't accidentally destroy your own organization's bases, kill your own organization members, etc. This would only be needed when an organization swells beyond member memorization, but would still be nice to have.
