Ashford got a reaction from Koffye in UPDATE 1.2 ARRIVES ON DECEMBER 13TH - TACTICAL MAP, REVAMPED ASTEROIDS AND MORE
A few comments from someone who has always been very involved with Astros since they were on the PTS, and of course with PvP as well:

    THE TACTICAL MAP:
It looks really nice, but whether it is really helpful in battle? I don't know yet, furthermore it could be possible to triangulate the posioition again via the additional information.  However, if the red/green friend/enemy identifier should also exist in the 3rd person view, I would be more than happy.

    ASTEROID REWORK
Currently it is already so that everyone flies with a one-way ship on the PvP astro and makes more profit than if a large Org with a whole fleet moves out. I do not understand how you have to support that. However, I also see much more critical that the tiers are no longer displayed. There are large groups that fly out with 20-30 players including PvP ships, etc. The changes make this even more unattractive and for the individual player the question is raised, whether a large Org is even worth joining? Astros are one of the last mechanics you could do as a group event. If that is also gone and the Alien-Cors on itself let be, I see the gameplay for larger groups no longer (except you want to build a large city, etc.).

    SALVAGE OPERATIONS

We have to see how this is implemented, but probably there are either too few places, so that at every place a PvP fleet is present, or it is simply not worth flying there. Currently, there were only a handful of wrecks that were worth finding and bringing back safely. However, if there are significantly more, the market will be flooded with them very quickly and countermeasures must be taken.

Ashford got a reaction from McXerXes in PvP mechanic idea: How to give L-cores more potential. (Shield stability)
    @TobiwanKenobi
I really like your idea, but for me there should be the following basic classes of ships:
small and light fighters that are agile and hard to hit, and big and heavy battleships that can take a lot of hits.
In this sense, your approach goes into the right direction. However, in my opinion, the battleships are also ships that should be crewed by a whole team and not just one person.  Unfortunately, I don't see in your suggestion how the multi-crew factor is taken into account properly. So for me it's going in the right direction, but it can't be the final approach.

Thank you for raising these questions. The important one from my point of view is "Why we don't have a combat free timer after we win a defence?". This machnik would make an attacker think twice before attacking. It would also be nice to double both the shield HP and the time for the attacker.

I think a lot of things are addressed in this news article:
    https://mein-mmo.de/weltraum-mmorpg-wirtschaft-wipe-verunsichert-spieler/
Furthermore, I still don't understand how a wipe is supposed to help new players. New players need content and support, both things will not be available immediately after a wipe.

My Feedback what NQ should do / clear thinks out before a full wipe
(I Personally would prefer a full wipe)
    Main Topics
    -    Zero Tolerance Politic with Bugs / Exploits, no disaster with the schematics that costs only 1% from the original price
    -    What kind of game loop is coming instead of schematics, then everyone can build a Gigafactory (are also exitisting with Schematics) but will be a lot easier without
    -    Clean the Org System max 5 orgs for each Player, also in each Org there hast o be an Superlegate like you wanted in the past
    -    Maybe rethink about the size of the galaxy? Reduce the distance form the galaxy for casual friendly gameplay for missions ?
I know its a hard topic, but some people would prefer a shorter travel time (with small ships you have the short time, with big ships / missions ship you need a long time

    Refered to bugg reports
    #46315,      #40785,

    Secondary Topics
    -    New Seed  for the Planets for the Mining Units (that we cant pre Scan the hot spots)
    -    Fix the Ammo Talents or Remove them
    -    What will happen with the Thoramine ore? Or will it be deleted because still no use?
    -    With the new start, you get a lot of starter items like rezz node, or some people the throne from the recruit a  friend system, will this block your inventory so you cant pick items up?
    -    Harder start for new player (because there is no free ships or something like that)
    -    Sanctuary? Do we get a second sanctuary unit or only the one from the FTUE Planet? Because we cant pick them up, and with that the Sanctuary moon has no ingame usage?

I'm a new player so I'm pretty much the demographic they are wanting to hear from. I think all the established ship showrooms and buildings make the game more lived in and interesting to explore. Wiping all of this content seems pointless when the main issues can be fixed without it. I imagine they will eventually be adding new systems to the game too so this whole idea that wiping content is going to somehow please new players makes zero sense.

The only things bothering me as a new player are:
Having 5.5mill talent points when others have 75mill+ with NO CATCHUP MECHANIC so that gap is never going to reduce. Even with a wipe this will still be a problem for newer players down the line. Tier 4/5 mining tiles are mainly taken and it is permanent with little chance of newer players getting their foot in the door. Both of these things can be fixed with new mechanics, without needing a wipe. A wipe will not fix these issues for new players a year down the line if there was a wipe.

This quite ill-considered and frankly one-sided towards wiping post by NQ has made it clear that NQ see a wipe as the “proper” way forward.  This has caused many subs to be stopped immediately and players to simply stop playing because it’s all going to be wiped anyway.

Two servers were never on the cards and even suggesting it is an insult on top of more insults. What of Thoramine? Is that considered another mistake by NQ to be removed just like the economy “mistakes” NQ let happen (like unchecked Aphelia missions) which has injected far more quanta into the system than a few minor exploits.

Regardless, the damage has been done. NQ should announce the final decision so that people can prepare for release (if they can) and if there is nothing to prepare, then expect  player counts to drop drastically until after release were a few will check in, see they still don’t like the game and quit again.

If NQ is destroying all the work except core blueprints, wouldn't the people that spent their time making those core blueprint have a huge advantage over the rest? I'm not in favor of a wipe at all. But if you want to be consistent and wipe the wealth from players, that includes core blueprints. Time is quanta, and ready built objects that normally take time to build are worth a significant amount of quanta. So the person that spend a 100 hours mining gets shafted by loosing everything, the person that spend 100 hours building and making BPOs isn't? How is that fair?

Let's preface this: I'm a scripter, I own minimal assets in the game, and my main enjoyment comes from scripting. The wipe has a very small affect on me, but that won't change my opinion on how terribly reasoned it is here and terribly unnecessary.

Kurock's post says it all. They were so, so clearly biased in that post, it's like they already made their decision, and if our response is lukewarm, it will go through.

They ignore major, major points on the pros for the no wipe and partial wipe, and they put the full wipe with the most pros, but they all say the same thing: Simpler.
Based on how they did the other pros and cons, all they should have said was:

    Pros:
    Simpler for us to do
Schematics are what caused so many people to leave, and they have left. Your comment on schematics probably revolved around the idea that removing them would somehow bring those people back. Newsflash, it won't. They have moved on to other games. Personally, I don't own a single subscription game where I would return to subscribing after so much time has passed. BS you say about a wipe is somehow required for removing schematics. They're just an item.
Complete BS that you say you can't revamp planets.
Even greater BS you say you can't rebalance the economy... do you even look at your in game economy? One update and 10,000 m^3 of honeycomb goes from 100 million to 10 million. That is where it should be. The economy is perfectly, perfectly fine.

As Kurock said, leveling the playing field is a temporary concept that will disappear quickly. It's an MMO. You think someone who plays the weekends or once a month will somehow be on the same level as someone who plays several hours a day, every day, who knows the game already? Don't be delusional, please.

DU is not like a game where wiping should happen. You've already implemented plenty, and many will say too many updates that make it so wiping is completely unnecessary. HQ tiles, tile tax and construct abandonment over time, just to name the ones that come to mind.. Those are systems that work.
DU lives off player content, which is essentially what you're advocating to remove with a wipe. It's like saying: I let you build up my limbs over the last two years so I can crawl, and now walk. Now, I will chop them off for you so you can rebuild them better this time.
Your post is not an unbiased opinion on pros and cons. Fix it. It is misleading. Some people who read it will not think critically about what you just wrote. Who the hell thinks no wipe will only satisfy "some" long term builders and traders... are you... actually dumb? A significant majority is a better word there. You wanna know something? Your wishy-washy response mostly advocating for a wipe is why some people don't want to invest time into this. And it is because you even brought up a wipe. You sour the waters and poison the air with having the idea about, even more so by your extremely biased post.

You wanna see what I mean by a biased pro/con? Here's a great example:

As you can see, depending on where you cut the cake, you can say a lot and steer the narrative, bloating reasons and diminishing others.
This is, essentially what NQ have done with their entire post.

This is all I have to say in this, post, I've spent enough time writing out the obvious. Kurock said it in a neater package, but felt I should elaborate.

I would like to add a point of view to the discussion:
Imagine we are in 3 years from now. The server has been life all the time. There have been hardcore gamers and casual players for the whole time. There will be a big difference between the players depending on the how they have been playing the game.

Imagine you join as a new player in 3 years.

What will be the difference beteen the new players now and new players in 3 years?

What will a vipe improve in the long run? I can't imagine that you wipe the server every few years.
I think that you have to find a way to do ballancing on the run.

I don't really understand the need for a wipe, other then that NQ would like to clean up their database. The 'Pros' listed sound contrived to me.

Any permanent MMO where a wipe is needed to make it attractive to new players is doomed. Are you going to wipe every year then?
The challenge of an MMO is to make the game is such a way that a player can step in at any point.

Basically any form of wipe after telling us no for 2 years, and id walk away. I don't see any path of fair restitution for ripping out of my hands everything i worked for without using exploits or shady bullshit since beta start when NQ told us no further wipe. i didn't like schematics at first, but its a reasonable mechanic that i work well with for my usage/needs now and could be handled by throttling them like using industry skills. but taking away what I've built in 2 years, which with current systems would take nearly 3 years to replace. And honestly wiping to give a level playing field will only make a difference for a month at best, before the knowledgeable people are back in a position of power

I'm not unique in my opinion, and NQ will have to consider how many people will continue to play, or just give up and walk away because they were lied to. I backed in alpha so i haven't paid money monthly, but i would of been happy to of for all this time to aid in the games support.

I think it is a great pity that my proposal at the time is not on the table.
You should let the game run without a wipe, because this is exactly what was promised to many, as well as the beta players should have already built a society and structures for the "new players". This approach is completely ignored here.
    Back to the proposal:
A smaller solar system will be created that will be created for new players. This solar system is "hidden" in our solar system and only becomes "visible" when new and old players have assembled a huge dimension gate in their systems. (Community event) For this, a lot of material must be donated to NPC drop-off stations and there must be a great technological progress on both systems.
Once the gates are built on both solar systems, the new solar system will be visible in the old one. All players can then play together.
This way, the old players can leave their progress alone and continue building there, new players start fresh, so to speak, and later come to the point where they meet the old players.
    On the subject of "Wipe".
A wipe would only make sense if it was a complete wipe. Everything from the beginning, no exceptions - because every exception is an unfair advantage - an advantage that you now want to destroy with a wipe.
Even blueprints would be an advantage for builders, because these "designers" get to keep their plans, while an industrialist or an asteroid collector goes away empty-handed.
By the way: The Quanta hardly play a role, because even with a wipe, there will be very rich and very poor players again after days-week-months. The problem is only reset and shifted in time.
So if a wipe is coming: please NQ be fair and tell us when it will come, that is, when do you plan to release the game? This year or next. If there is a wipe, I would pause my subscriptions accordingly, as it makes no sense for me to continue playing. Then I'll wait until the release....
