Yes, it is. Especially after last update. Am I supposed to dig-dig-dig all the time? Now, after last update I have nothing to do, but dig. To be able to produce now I have to buy a recipe. This is total bullshit! There are plethora of games, where I should dig a shit out of a planet so a game starts to be interesting after a MONTHS of real gameplay. I do not want another such game. I have it enough in EVE. I suppose to stop playing DU, if things not change. This is sad. I had a hope, that DU will be different...

0.23 ended the game for me, I logged on the day after the patch to check things out, haven't played since, I was playing for several hours most days. I am only checking the forums every now and then in the hope they will remove the schematics, which I doubt will happen. It killed the solo player experience pretty much and introduced too many restrictions on free game play. Now it's main goal is just to make in game currency and there's too much focus on the economy aspect of the game.
I was having fun with the creative side like building ships but now it would take me weeks or months to get enough currency or materials to construct any buildings on my hex let alone to experiment with ship designs. This move just handed the game to larger Org's. The ones that have multiple territories are set for the rest of the games life, anyone wanting to craft or buy their own territory unit, especially new players, is in for a rough, boring, grindfest or will have to settle for being a tiny cog in a big wheel and play the game *for* the Org's not *with*.

It is tough on new (especially solo) players.  That said it was really tough on some established solo players.  Imagine you mined, created multiples of every machine put every bit of quanta you made into making your factory bigger and bigger.  0.23 hits and you have a factory that does not work and no quanta.   The stuff that you could sell is now worth 20% of what it was the day before, even then its not selling.  A lot of players were in that position and I think some of them quit.  A lot of them seemed to try and get the schematics to at least get part of their factory going again.  When 0.23 hit, I took one look and said to myself.  Industry is no longer viable for the solo player.  So, I looked for something else to speck into that would be a feasible way to play.  Now that they have reduced the schematic prices, some solo players might be able to eek out an existence but it will be tough.  As I have said in other threads, the game is alpha.  it might be worth having a break and coming back later.  My subscription runs out in Jan, so I'm still thinking about it.

One thing that I noticed since 0.23 is a psychological change to how I view parts of the game. I started a few weeks before the patch, I did not lose a large factory or a big investment. What I lost was an aspect of the game that provided motivation for the other areas of game play. As a new player, designing a factory and building elements for my own ships was fun and provided a challenge. I wanted to mine and discover ores on other planets because it let me build something new. The accessible industry provided motivation to explore and play the game. After the schematic changes it turned mining into a wage labor proposition. I was just raising quanta to buy stuff. It reminds me of a job where your working on an exciting project you're invested in compared to a job your working at just for a paycheck. I'm still enjoying the other aspects of the game, but I have a far greater sense of having to spend some of my time "going to work."

This is all good, but if I just started? You have a SPACE STATION (or several), a SHIPS, a QUANTAS! And I have a pair of small buildings on Sanctuary, a free Speeder and a small ship, which I built myself and planned to expand it to travel to space. Just before 0.23... Well, now I'm planning nothing. Acually, I unsubscribed from DU and unlikely will subscribe back. Only if NQ change things.

Listen to people here. Who will you sell your schematics? Who will transport you? The only answer (not good for me) - DU will be populated by people with mentality of EVE players. I afraid of it, and if that happens... It's total disaster.

And, by the way, what are communication means? How can I receive an order from a person, who need a lift for example?

I've taken a long break from the game and I'm still not returning because I'm still not motivated to play. This account is a Ruby Backer and even with a lifetime sub, I haven't logged on for 2 months now because this is about my time, not the money.  I'm not sure if I will ever come back to DU given the current state of this game and the chance of them actually turning this thing around. My English is not that good, I would say that it is fair but not at your level. I agree with the points of this Blazemonger. If I can elaborate what I think without difficulty with the language, it be this! I support these points based on the presented reasons -- they are more reasonable.

What I would like to add is while they announced that August 27th will be the Early Access of this game, this game even right now, is not close to an Early Access quality. If they keep our progress as it is and let the exploiters benefit from this vacuum, it will really be Early Access. Things were so easy to acquire early on and now it is becoming harder as they radically change the game as part of balancing without a wipe to follow at some time later, now tell me if this will not have any significant impact on the economy? it will! Have you heard of oligarchic system? This will be DU if you insists on wiping. My point: what would you people prefer? Keep the game as it is, I mean you can justify not wiping it because they announced the Early Access--an "Early Access" is supposed to be permanent after all--, and do what is best for yourself, or do what is best for the game and for all of us including the future potential players, go back on your word and wipe the game after it's actually ready for Early Access (which right now it is not). The game is not ready for Early Access, that is the point!

What would be best for the game is to move the Early Access later, if you don't, then you are accepting the quality of this game as permanent right now and your progress as permanent right now on a game that is changing radically as part of it's balancing and development process. The game right now is screwed and you want it to be permanent? A lot of people have already left and it's very unlikely that I will come back. You want this game, at the state that it currently is right now, to be permanent? Fine, keep it permanent! Let's see how many of you would lasts!

Main problem i have with schematics is that i never got any quanta and thus needed to do alot of stuff to get some to even begin with. and with only a starter hover and no quanta it takes a long time to get anywhere, now with these things all the players with the same bug, the No quanta Bug, will be very fracked.  missing 100k per day may sound like peanuts but when you can only mine and sell for a long time to even get some stuff together DU is burning you up even faster then governmental taxrates on your income.

Yeah its just plain boring now.  I tried to login and play the other day and spent hours trying to find recipes since it's such a PAIN to search for them.  I can't believe how rudimentary the search features are in this game.  Three hours later and four marketplace trips that still are so laggy it makes the game crash every time and  I realize I have to go to another planet for three of the schematics.  So that means I now have to build up my skills again.   Nope.  I don't want to spend another hour or two clicking those damn skills buttons and trying to drag them into order with the most un-user-friendly ordering feature I have ever seen.

So that's like four hours of game play and nothing, whatsoever, fun about any of it.   I can't even bring myself to spend 30 minutes logging in and crashing several times just to claim my daily money.  This game might sound good on paper, but its just not fun at all for me anymore.  Most of my org has quit playing too. Everyone playing different games now.   I dont know if NQ can fix it, so idk if I'll play again.  Have to wait and see if any of their new features add a little more fun, or if its just more sitting inside a menu and clicking stuff or not.

Agreed it is sad. In my 20+ years of gaming and MMOs, never has a heartbreaking of an update ever hit until 0.23. It is a paralyzing update and there is more fun elsewhere know but I still have hopes......hopefully realized in due time.
