^^ @Warlander I am fully ok with schematics system. What i dont like about it its that i had to travel and lose few hours just to get whatever i need. I understand the need for traveling BUT it would be awesome if we can open a piece of industry and unlock for that specific piece of industry the schematic and when we change the recipes, recipes goes in a bank where we can store whatever schematics we have and dont use.

I really like 0.23 and post 0.23 especially with lower price on schematics !

@Warlander is correct. The current content gate and money sink in the form of schematics is terrible for new players. No one wants to play 1-2 years to be able to do what they want in a game. With all the competition such as Space Engineers, Starship EVO, and Stationeers, that don't have such gateway and sinks, they really don't need to screw it up for new players.

Expecting episodic TV thats meant to hold your attention for less then an hour to be mirrored in a game like this is not going to leave you with a satisfactory game experience ever. I also disagree that new players have to be handed all aspects of the game on a silver platter on day one.

You're nuts if you think pre-.23 was that easy. I spent weeks building and buying the little industry that I had, just to make a few parts I deemed too expensive on the market. Then .23 came along and killed it all, and the fun that went with it.

This patch did nothing but pander to the large orgs and cause a large percentage of the player base to leave.

I am now logging in daily just to colled my $ and hoping that something will change soon, because right now it is dulll A.F. and all my interest in it has seriously evaporated.

I'm doing the same thing and just logging in to collect my daily. I've grounded my bigger ships and use my pocket rocket if I get an idea and need something, but it hasn't happened in weeks.

.23 sucked all the fun out of the game. Everything I was interested in, gone.

I've been speaking with a few players and one of our Marketing gurus (who is an avid DU player) about the various ways in which people can enjoy DU without having to dig, dig, dig for eternity.

We're collaborating on a kind of guide that will (hopefully) open up some new possibilities for people. :) We're all getting ready to have a holiday, but when we return in the New Year I expect to put our noses to the grindstone to churn this side project out.

Actually, to that end... I'm curious:

Have any of you witnessed a really unique play style that you want us to promote? I'd happily give you credit on the final guides if you want to share a story. ❤️

I can tell you what's not interesting or unique. Mining Simulator 2021. The most unique part of DU was being able to build the stuff to make stuff, and use that stuff to make ships. Basically, the way I see it, is that NQ did not respect the weeks I spent building the small industry I had. NQ wasted all of that time and the cost of the sub for me. That's just plain disrespectful.

    As a new Player:

Get rid of Blueprints for all Tier 1 and everything you can build in Assemly Line M and lower.

Give the new Players some aire and possibilities.

I would not mind buying Blueprints for advanced Stuff.

Right now it is even hard for me to go to the next Market.

And all i see is "You need the Blueprint".

    So i cant experiment.

I want to build a smal ship as i statet in another Post. But how?

The Tutorial wont work. I have no clue what i need.

And for everything i need to travel to the market.

What if i forget 1 wing or 1 brake is not enough?

Waste another 15 min for travelling to the Market?

And to those who are saying "You can build a better Ship with what you have", plz consider, that new Players dont know how and cant try stuff out, because we cant build stuff!

Welcome to DU, now get in the mines! lol! j/k.... mostly...

I'd say make all T1 through XL be freed from schematics. There is no real reason for T1 schematics other than making the game noob-hostile and org-centric.

I don't think they really thought the schematics system through before implementing them, especially the impact on early gameplay. The term "schematic" isn't even correct. When you modify a machine or assembly line IRL to make a different thing, it's called "retooling." So, perhaps "Tool Set" would be a better term than schematic, but the idea is still crap.

NQ, more specifically JC, honestly knows nothing of actual manufacturing and is making a lot of assumptions that just aren't correct, and trying to incorporate any sort of artificial limitations to emulate the real-world is just going to piss people off enough to quit.

Again, the wall that is stopping you is in your mind, not in the game.

Running planets for profit sounds quite tedious. I can imagine after a short while, it gets real old. Some of us want to have actual fun in the games we play.

JC, was that too quick for you? Are you going nerf tf out of everything again?

JC doesn't care if orgs recover with barely a hick-up in production. He just doesn't want the solo players being able to build anything by themselves. Self-sufficiency is evidentially a no-no. At this point, NQ wants to be the overreaching governmental body who says who can and cannot produce things.

Nope! He wants everyone mining for the big orgs. Didn't you hear him? He essentially said that because you can't possibly invest enough money to build a factory IRL solo, you shouldn't be able to in DU either. You know, because you can gather all the parts and build your own space ship and travel to other planets and moons IRL... ?

Frantically going on a search for the unsub function after you get charged for another three months as per your agreement with NQ (through XSolla) while there has been an unsub button on the "my product" page on the website fora while and the way to unsub through XSolla is widely discussed here as well. So anyone who does not know how this works by now has pretty much only themselves to blame.

I think they disabled the ability to unsub for a while after .23 hit. I checked over several days after it dropped and the stop auto-renewal button wasn't there. Reading this reminded me that I needed to stop auto-renewal until NQ gets their head straight about what they want this game to be, and see if it's interesting. As I've been reading, I understand there will be a lot of tedious endeavors added, even more than the mindless mining, and I'm just not looking for another tedious game, so I may never come back.

Did anyone ever find an answer to these questions by OP? I would like to know also.

NQ probably hasn't even started on the garbage collection, but that doesn't mean they might throw some crap together a "patch" and everything be gone in a month. They don't communicate anything until it's already here.

I want to know WTF happened to low quantity 3D printing in the 9000 years we were asleep... You can pretty much 3D print entire houses, functional solar panels, parts for an entire pistol, bespoke theraputic pills, hell even a lab cultured meat hamburger as of 2020 but in 12xxx, or whenever, you can't even weave a f'cking carpet.

And the schematics don't actually make sense for 3D printers in game. You don't retool the entire printer to print a new model, you just change the cartridges if desired and upload the file. This implementation is pretty lame really...

Ha, yea, they say do what you love and you'll work every damn' day of your life, right!? or is that how the saying usually goes?

But for real, that's why I'm here and playing Dual Universe.. to be part of building a whole new world... it looks like a lot of people on here are forgetting that this world will ultimately be built by us, and not Novaquark... the fun part to me right now is seeing such a large, blank canvas of a digital frontier that all of us creators are going to vie to direct. I totally understand how this version of the game isn't fun for most types of gamers compared to so many other fast-paced, ever-rewarding games out there..  but DU is undoubtedly going to get cooler and cooler every day from people in the community who just love creating... after enough time, we'll all figure out better and better ways to create objectives and different forms of gameplay for each other, but everyone is going to have to give NQ time... whether you give them money, if you're not that interested in being part of the creation-process, is up to you

The only way DU will get cool is if NQ lets it. If they keep letting their "vision" and "intended use" crap get in the way, while moving the goalpost further and further, it won't even survive this Alpha Beta.

Spot on, any MMO that feels players are expendable will fail, especially if it’s based on a subscription or micro transaction model which NQ have said micro transactions could be introduced at a later date on cosmetic items

I wouldn't put it past them to implement something similar to the Eve skill point injectors. It's a little rough trying to wait for those 14+ day talents to finish. lol

Anyway, when my sub is up I think I'm done. The game's becoming far too tedious the more "features" are added and/or changed. If I wanted the tedium, I'd go play Eve or Elite Dangerous. Oh, and if I wanted a real life implementation, I'd just go outside. JC said Billions for a factory, sure if you're mass making parts. For a few thousand bucks, I could invest in machinery to make small batch anything in my shed. That's what I find laughable.

  12. I can't help but think that some sort of survey should've been conducted as to changes to the RDMS system. As with your implementation of schematics, retroactively and arbitrarily including prior works with new RDMS restrictions was a really terrible idea. This, yet again, something no one asked for.

This game has quickly become not fun. My sub is done on the 15th. Good luck, cause you're gonna need it with decisions like this.

    2) They, I think, not currently that worring about subs (because if you do math with projected player numbers), its not tha much -- nice bonus, but not sole source of their survival. So, likely, they sitting on debt now and just gone all-in for release (with losses on road considered not critical). So, in wicked sense, we are disposables right now.

Investors don't like to see a game with no players/subscribers, and it's not promising when a player base does a mass exodus, so that doesn't make us as expendable as you think.

Not really. The reason the market is frozen right now is because the economy is not moving in general. There is very low demand on elements, since most ships were grounded, so the factories do not produce and everyone is spending their money on schematics instead of production. With time the market will stabilize and people will start buying ore at higher prices than bots. All market products will be according to those prices. The only thing bots change is the value of the money/quantas. If they did not exist then how do we generate the required quantas to buy the schematics we need for the economy to start moving again? Since this a common missconception they should just move bots from the player market into a vendor like market like any other game, to avoid confusion. Just create a new tab on the market or something.

Ore prices would've totally tanked had the bots not been available, effectively cutting off substantial amounts of new quanta from entering the game, which is NOT a good thing at this point in development.

    • Element destruction will impact the restoration count only when it occurs through PvP, at least for now (not when the ship is colliding/falling as we want to avoid having players penalized simply for crashing their ships because they’re learning how to maneuver them, for example).

When is this going to be a thing? I had a lag related crash and the count against some elements  still says 2 counts left.

One of the struggles I'm having with industry right now is not knowing the recipe for each schematic, thus making multiple trips to market. Can we get a clickable list of the elements necessary to make each schematic in the description so we can purchase them all at once without having to cross-reference with the nanocrafter and making spreadsheets/lists? I really don't need a second job.

The second important initiative is to revise the role of the Alpha Team Vanguard (ATV), getting them more involved in early discussions about new features and the evolution of the game. We are still defining the framework, so more information will be released as available.

As others have pointed out, disband ATV. They are your leaks. Getting them "more involved" will result in more leaks where they warn their buddies about major upcoming changes.

Element destruction was in the game, and it was always going to be In the game. If you weren't smart enough to figure that out, that's on you.

PvP I can understand, crashes not so much. If they're going for realism, ok, but it's a game where people want to escape real life.

Also, it's on me where I spend my money. If the devs really don't want it, they can take the game in a direction I don't agree with.

This is how most games actualy played, no?

Yes and no. A lot of games don't throw you in fire right away, and give you time to build what the game needs/allows/wants.

    3 minutes ago, le_souriceau said:

Yep, I get your entitlement/learned helplessness tendences that I'm not in position to heal. I surrender.

If I'm paying money, I expect certain things. Yep, I'm paying for the entitlement to play the game without being artificially hindered by crappy policy. If it gets bad enough, I'll take my money elsewhere and assume the devs don't need it. This is exactly what happened with Eve. I spent a LOT of cash and time on that game, and then they started threatening my stuff with guaranteed loss. I said "No thanks" and quit. I'll do it here just the same.

  19. 2 minutes ago, le_souriceau said:

    1) You need to crush your stuff several times before its totaly "die".

    2) Most of learning happens (for most reasonable people) on pretty basic, cheap ships.

    3) You have your everyday 100 k of social security just for this.

    4) If you need more -- earn it by in-game activities. Or craft new stuff yourself. What the problem?

    5) You already have all renewables newbies may need for bare basics -- rocks on ground.

    6) And I fail do undestand logic of your argument -- how some distant (and pvp-ridden) renewable asteroids will help newbie who, by your concept, cant fly without constant crushing?

So, generaly you totaly blowing it out of proportion and stretching problem. I doubt it will be even minor issue for most new players.

    Really?

    1) 3 times. 3 times is what it takes to kill an element. I crashed my light space hauler way more than that just learning to land properly, and that's not mentioning the parts that burn up going in or out of atmo. That's not a good argument.

    2) You're making the assumption that cheap now means cheap later. When inflation due to scarcity of resources and elements is in play, it won't be cheap to replace parts.

    3) When you're just starting out, that's all you have. Again, if I was forced to spend money on elements in early game, I wouldn't have continued to play.

    4) This is a false argument. Starting out, you have no skills, the started speeder, and 100k to your name. It takes time to build the skills, resources and equipment, unless you join an org right away.

    5) All tiers need to be renewable. This is for the longevity of the game. It has to happen, or people will get frustrated/bored and quit. No subs = no game. Get it yet?

So no, you're just making excuses why you think it's a grand idea to destroy stuff for the sake of destroying stuff. It's bad policy, and you fail to look at the bigger picture.

  20. 2 minutes ago, le_souriceau said:

You totaly blowing it out of scale. This sink from element destruction will be barely noticeble at this point. Most of elements are very cheap in comparison to assets people already hoarded. Generaly, its even good thing, if NQ keep some reasonable gap between this and imprementation of per example asteroid mining (renewables), so at least fraction of exessive stuff will be drained out of economy.

No I'm not blowing it out of proportion. Learning to fly, people crash, or at least I did several times. If this were implemented, my stuff would've been destroyed and would've been forced to buy new stuff with extremely limited money. This will hurt new players coming into the game since destruction happens from a simple crash. It's going to discourage new players and they won't stick around.

  21. I agree with others, we need renewable resources before a resource sink comes into play. Resources going out without new resources coming in is a terrible recipe and will make the game unattractive at this time. I'd probably cancel my sub and go play something else until renewables are implemented.

Aside from that, the roadmap is starting to look more and more like Eve. If I wanted to play Eve, I'd be playing it.
