Whelp, building was the only really aspect of this game I actually enjoyed. Take that away, and Ill be ending my subscriptions.

My compromise would be to leave the talents alone, but make it so one characters core talents can only be applied to one org. For example. The Onion is in 3 orgs A, B, and C. I apply my core talents to org A. Org A now has 275 core limit. Org B and C each have 0.

    i've been playing since alpha.
i always tried to create content and give back a lot to the community via new fancy stuff ( like hagboards or boats etc.) and i operate a showroom with all ships on display and a marina where i try to keep a copy of each boat/sailboat using my lua for people to walk around in and enjoy the creations.
additionally i have to make some money and operate mining units on around 20 cores. then i have an industry and need a LOT of cores for prototypes and my own ships.
when i am selling tokens i often have to place new temporary cores.
so with all this even after cleaning up every so often i operate around 260 cores in my construct org.
even if i massively reduce stuff, i still would have to remove most of the stuff. so basically this would end my career in this game.
even if NQ would reconsider and go to 100 cores it would be constant struggle of which stuff i would have to remove.
i never used nested orgs ( which was basically more in those past mining days to claim tiles) but still i create content, i have a life in this game and i want to grow. so this could honestly be the final nail in the coffin for DU.
NQ always talked about the visions where they create the plattform and we the players fill it with life and content. but HOW?

If this is about server space or network traffic i would rather pay 1$ more per month to end this stupid plan.

Personal slots are very much involved, even if they aren't changing.

Players don't have enough personal slots to lay down all their mining units, they use org slots for that. Unless MU are rebalanced to reduce the number of cores needed to reasonably run them (since you can practically put all of 2 on most outer-world hexes), a lot of players are going to have a private org, maxed skills, and next to nothing to share with their group-org (people they are supposed to be playing with because this is an MMO) because they are using over half of everything they have between personal and org slots combined just to avoid feeling like they are missing out on their MU-ore.

The organisation itself has 0 (ZERO !!!!)
This means that a player must first "give or sell" places to the organisation, only then can the organisation go through many players up to the corelimit mentioned.
A player will therefore become extremely important for organisations that want to build large projects. At the same time, solo players will be punished extremely severely, as an organisation no longer offers core places and you only have the places of your character.

Okay, so single player can maintain around 40 MUs simultaniously, but only 25 construct slots?
So I can't even use the full potantial of my account, that sounds bad for me.

    EDIT

As a ship builder, I like to have examples of my ships next to the BP dispenser  so that a potential customer  can examine  the ship. As a solo player with no alts, this change will make that impossible.

Dual Universe’s Panacea update is right around the corner, bringing with it a sizable variety of changes based on feedback from our community.
Ahead of the update, however, we are immediately introducing revisions to territory upkeep and mining units.

Read on for the full scoop!

GOING INTO EFFECT ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 25th

Taxes will be effective again starting Wednesday, January 26th.
The day before, we are going to deploy three adjustments to address the issues mentioned in the Community Feedback regarding Territory Upkeep.

    Territory Upkeep Reduction: 1 MM --> 500k.

Territory Upkeep was first introduced in the November 2021 Demeter update. After reviewing community feedback, we announced that territory upkeep payments would be postponed for two weeks to allow the Design team time to dig deep into the metrics and fine-tune the system accordingly.

The upkeep rate per territory will be reduced by 50%, from 1MM to 500k quanta. Player feedback indicated that people felt they were having to sell ore too frequently to generate the funds needed to pay upkeep. In halving the upkeep costs, we will relieve the pressure to make frequent trips to the market as well as the need to sell large quantities of ore.
      Calibrations Charges:
    Base calibration charge slots increase : 5 --> 25.
    Talent calibration charge slots increase : 1/level --> 5/level.

Also introduced in the Demeter update, mining units were designed as an alternative to digging endless tunnels underground for ore. To keep them producing at their peak capacity requires occasional calibration; however, initial feedback from the community told us that further tweaks were needed for the calibration process. To this end, we’ve made the two changes mentioned above.

This will change the total amount of stored charges from 10 (5 base + 5 max talents) to 50 (25 base + 25 max talents).

The intention behind the charge cap was not to force a behavior in which you felt like you needed to spend charges in order not to “lose out” on charges by hitting the cap and wasting your recharge.

In view of that, both the base and the talent bonus are drastically going up. This will not only allow you to store more charges in general, but specifically allow you to store a much longer period of time in charge recharge time, giving you much more breathing room to store charges and not waste charge recharge time.
      Calibration grace period: 48h --> 72h
The calibration grace period is the amount of time during which a mining unit does not lose calibration. Similarly to charge slots, the intention was not to aggressively require you to calibrate mining units every 2-3 days. In our initial calculations our goal was more to hit the 5 to 6 day mark depending on what efficiency curve the player selected, and how many mining units the player was trying to maintain.

We are changing the calibration grace period from 48-hours to 72-hours.

This change should bring us closer to the initial values we were looking for and give players more breathing room to calibrate when their mining units seem to be producing less than usual, indicating that calibration is needed.

CHANGES COMING WITH PANACEA UPATE (0.28) LAUNCH

Using industry units on offline tiles

The intention of requiring online territories for industry units was not to negatively impact industry units on planets. We initially saw it as further incentive to pay for taxes, but it was not a core requirement. This is also why industry units on Ssanctuary and space cores were left untouched.

We understand from player feedback that requiring you to operate mining units on a territory in order to not run industry units at a loss on that territory was an annoyance and many players did not want to run their industry units on the same territories as their mining units.

In view of the preferences expressed, we have decided to allow the operation of industry units on all offline territories. In combination with HQ territories, this will allow you to effectively run industry units on offline territories for extended periods of time.
      Faster extraction animations
We are also addressing the feedback we’ve received regarding the time it takes to complete a calibration minigame, specifically the frustration from the long loading animations when calibrating a number of mining units.

An option has been added in the mining unit UI (tick box) that will let you significantly reduce the time these animations take, drastically reducing the period of time the animations run.

Additionally, a number of mining unit mini-game animations have been slightly reduced in duration, thus allowing a faster minigame completion.

    New talents for surface harvesting
In order to further incentivize harvesting surface rocks, and to be able to specialize in it, we are adding four talents linked to surface harvesting that will touch on harvesting speed and output.

The main goal is to create some surface harvesting specialization for those players who enjoy it, giving them the capability to harvest better and faster, and for longer periods of time.

    CHANGES COMING POST-PANACEA

    New surface harvesting controls
To further address surface harvesting issues, we are working on quality of life-type improvements that will allow a degree of auto-harvesting similar to normal mining as well as other changes to reduce control and UX-based frustrations during surface harvesting.
Watch for additional details as we refine our plans!

New mining unit surface harvesting, rocks spawning behavior

Lastly, we are looking for a solution to simplify the process of gathering rocks. This is in direct response to player requests to eliminate the hassle of having to comb their territories after calibrating a number of mining units.

While this is still in relatively early stages, the solution we are looking at is to spawn the rocks right under the mining unit beam, where the beam hits the ground. Players would then be able to rapidly harvest surface rocks.

    BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE

Don’t forget that there’s a lot more to Panacea than the changes and tweaks discussed above. It’s also got some cool new stuff, like the Vertex Precision Tool which we’ll be talking about in the next devblog!

Meanwhile, please join the conversation on the forum here to tell us what you think about revisions we’ve presented in this Devblog.
We’d love to hear from you!

key is it doesn't matter what others have, focus on what you have and can do and have fun.

but i agree, with the sentiment, the game sucks, i still come back from time to time, but now the game is even more like a second job, where you pay a subscription to be part of it...

The point is, comparing DU to HL1 is simply stupid because the one was done before voxel technology even was really a thing. 0.25m voxels are sort of a good medium to keep stuff cheap enough while making sense for a player to actually manipulate. Imagine if you had to do 5 times more work if the res was 0.05m... only a few people would actually want that level of detail.

I returned to the game with Demeter and spend a bit of time "fixing up" my base first, setting HQ tiles and then looked into the MU, it's clearly a "feature" driven by non gameplay choices and reasons, specificalyy financial ones for NQ.

I set up four "pockets" of three connected tiles for each T1 ore on Alioth and have an alt who just goes around and calibrates each setup on consequtive days. This works pretty well actually and doe snot take that much time. I copy the surface ore locations to a textfile and collect them once every two weeks. Using a hagboard this is fairly fast.

It seems to me, and I am now moving to that, Asteroid mining is where you actually make the most gains in collecting ore. As an experiment I will start a new toon and see how well he can do getting into asteroid mining. I plan to stream the whole thing so that will be fun

And no @SneakySnake, he'll stay in the Safezone for at least the first weeks, so you can't have his ship

    Hi @TobiwanKenobi and others,

We are investigating this issue, we have made an update to reduce the instability of the obstruction value which was a bug causing your ship's engines to randomly change the obstruction over time even in mid-air.
However, it seems that the obstruction has another problem; this one.
We can't give an ETA, especially since the team is taking a break for the holidays. But be sure it's in our bug list we're investigating.

Mega is right that current actions border on deceit or stupidity. Take your pick, both are damning.

Losing players like Mega is a telling loss and I hope NQ pays attention. Their communication is shit. Their wishy washy stance on everything is shit.

I love DU and want it to succeed. I think NQ treats loyal players like shit and this is what kills games.

I would counter that to say that I mined roids from the start, 5 days a week and never had an issue, you would have thought that since Demeter, more people would be mining them but there is still ore.  So I ask again, is miningg REALLY just a weekend activity, or is that an excuse used by people who dont actually mine?

There will still be people that PAY for 60 accounts. See EVE, tons of people multi client the game... arguabley more so than DU.

Whales in MMO's always exist. Whether buying gold for an advantage or paying for multiple accounts to aquire more in game resources.

Even with a wipe we'll end up at the have and have nots again. Switching to paid accounts doesn't fix it, nor does a wipe.

I already know people with 10+ paid accounts, you can churn a ton of quanta still via mission running alts and other players packages. Removing beta accounts would not affect them nor the billions they make.

    Hi Jake,

We are well aware of this issue, it is an issue that came up after we fixed a major problem that was causing client crashes. To be honest, when we say "it may take a while to fix", it does, it requires reworking the parser we have in place.
Unfortunately, it won't be possible to fix this before our break, which will do everyone a lot of good for a full recovery. Nevertheless, it remains a major problem that we are keeping in mind, if that makes you feel better.

Of course, I can't give any date sorry.
