Warlander got a reaction from Honvik in Will it not deter people re-subbing if everything is salvaged?
Why come back if there is nothing to come back to with NQ still saying there will be no wipe is the real question. It takes year(s) to build and it takes hours to loot.

Especially when they could have just thrown events once a month or whenever to hand out a blueprint with a basic unorganized ship we could have built with our own parts as a quest, flew it to some random event tile, and NQ just turns all those ships into golden blueprints, pays out those who sold them ships, kept the market moving, and had all the seeds of just random ships they could then use to spawn salvageable ships endlessly or using physical parts coming out of our pockets so they dont end up with the same free money printer that missions have.

Or just setting up the mission system as a pipeline to make ships or modular buildings they can buy from us to get items out of the market in which to spawn salvage ships/buildings without killing your playerbase in the process for the sake of taxes and still not closing the loophole that justified too much quanta in the system to need taxes.

Its an idiotic, yet humourous cycle of:
Design a half baked system Introduce a problem they create Inaction Bandaid solution +1 pentalty to whoever didnt exploit said problem +2 penalty to new players who were not par of said problem or systems that no longer exist Repeat!

The point is well made.  Changes made to stop large-scale hardcore players from breaking the game are driving away the smaller players in quite large numbers.  And there were other ways to change the game which wouldn't have done that.

I consider this as you are our landlord and we pay you rent the first of the month every month while we want to live here. When you first build this appartment building you promised lots of things like a swimming pool, pool tables, workout center, and more. You still havent delivered on much of that but still every chance you get you dip out on us or dont want to talk to us when the electrical wiring is burnt out in one of the rooms, or the ceiling is leaking, or whatever it is going wrong. Instead you keep coming up with strange new rules about what we can do with the appartment we pay you to rent like lights out at 6, you cant own pets, or you can have to rent two apparements to swim in the pool. And still the first of the month you want to hold your hand out for more money while the AC has been out of 3 months like some kind of slum lord landlord.

Its time for a conversation on why things are going so wrong and not just ask players with feedback and ignore it and laugh on your vlogs about the strange rules you impose or just saying ha you have to pay taxes without any context to why you needed to do such drastic measures in the first place. Its the things you created in the first place like unlimited free coffee and snack bar in the office that was the issue and now you want to punish everyone else who didnt eat it for wanting to work out in the gym.

    Lets have a conversation please.

Its getting to the point where you created a problem then tried to fix it by creating more problems then punishing everyone else who didnt exploit the game with adding more problems and more problems on top of that.

If you would have made the origional mining system well enough people wouldnt have exploited sanning and built massive industries. To which you tried to stop that with schematics and made the problem worse. You then add missions to bring in trillions of quanta that requires no actual gained quest items or actual industry parts you can make or buy as the turn in for the money. You then decide to punish everyone else who didnt exploit that by brining in taxes and gutting the mining system and making it tedious so you have to pay more taxes.

This is all your own doing layer by layer of create problem, inaction, bandaid solution.

You guys are human, make mistakes, and cannot see everything coming. There just comes a time and place where you guys have screwed up enough to amit what you are doing is wrong, and learning from those mistakes instead of constantly making the same mistakes over and over again in different ways.

This game is still salvageable unlike your forclusure salvaging system.

Looks like the actual location of the mining units is irrelevant and the location of the construct core will determine which tile you mine on. In this case the core is pretty much smack in the center where the three tiles meet but it is slightly off to one of the tiles and it is applying that tile's values to all three groups of miners, 2 groups being on a different tile alltogether..

This is odd since for scanners for instance this works fine, you can have a triple scanner on one construct and eeach will scan the tile it is actually on/in/over

If they go with no warp or at best a decent disruptor system Ill just say screw it and build rather than play the game which seems like most people do around here. Without warp im not transporting anything since the risk does not match the reward for me based on how long it takes to aquire ore or build the ships vs how easy it is for someone to blow it up in less than 5 mins. Or forcing people to walk.

Warlander reacted to Daphne Jones in Weightless ammo again? WTF NQ?
Hauling a load of ammo, I noticed that it's gone back to being weightless... well nearly massless. Specifically, DU ammo specific gravity is 0.11 (water's specific gravity is 1.0). Sorry couldn't resist that once I started the sentence with "specifically". That translates to 0.11 kg/L, making it about the lightest thing in DU.

NQ, have you ever held a bullet - or a box of bullets - in your hand? Ammo is heavy. The lightest smokeless powders come in at about the density of water - 1 kg/L. The rest of the round is made of lead, steel, and copper. I bet you know the densities of steel and copper since they're in game an you got them about right. Steel is 8 kg/L. I don't remember copper, but it's denser than steel iirc. You can't take a bunch of stuff heavier than water and put it together so it's lighter than water. (That's the Theorem of the Mean for those of you who didn't pay attention in math class.)

There's a good reason that ammo is heavy... a slug of metal does a lot more damage when it hits than does, say, water. That's why we let kids shoot water guns at each other. And these bullets are 1/9 the mass of the same volume of water. You probably wouldn't notice getting hit by this.

I hope this was an accident and not another concession to whiny PVP carebears. Please make the ammo a little more realistic.

Warlander got a reaction from Zarcata in What does "Civilization building" actually mean for you?
NQ never really understood what a solar system was and the biggest problem with this game is that they just made everything a goldylocks all exoplanet solar system when in reality space is unhospitable, dangerous, and full of extrems and the makeup of planets that NQ never did their homework on when generating the solar system. There is no danger or gas giants or environmental survival aspects let alone extreme extremes.

On top of it all NQ simply made the 12hr space grid way larger than it had to be with all these goldylocks exoplanets so that they could spread out the ore on different moons and planets when there should have been a limited amount of exoplanets or moons we could mine had there been planets too hot or cold to land on or gas giants.

I feel like this solar system is too large and has too much dead space for the size and the exoplanet makeup without danger or even needing air underwater, in general, or in space. Most planets outside Alioth would either have their water boiled out or it would be solid anyways or made of amonia. Or wind, temps, etc that should kill you. Had there been danger elements in game people wouldnt be spread out as far and wide as they are or had to work together a bit more then people do since there are too many exoplanets for the sake of having options to mine.

NQ could have made a smaller number of planets or on the flip side changed the scale in this solar system to fit multiple systems with a sun, second sun, extreme planets closest to the sun, goldylocks planets, asteroid belts, gas giants in the kyper belt and ort clouds. and actually had different civs with their Own Alioth homeworld with a punishing mix of envirnmental danger, makeup with a minimal amount of habitable or teraformable planets to mine, and it would have had a better chance of building a civ on each system and fighting together or working together as a civilization.

This is an MMO after all. In DU there is a massive amount of dead space, desolate planets, and nothing to explore really. The Multiplayer aspect is yet to be seen as there are too few people spread way too far and wide and made harder since you have to have multiple bases on multiple moons and planets to get what you need. The Online aspect is persistant but having this much dead space, perfomance, and lag with what we have with the Massive and Multiplayer aspects makes it as such that there is no need for other people as you might see one or two people to day since the population density per KM is 1 since like 800 people now play the game and are too far apart for any meaningful civilization to exist outside of Alioth and the bubble of moons.

I want to exist in a civ but since NQ pretty much made everyone my enemy and let them eventually wage war on me it makes me want to participate less in the society or civilization aspects of the game vs working together as a large faction of orgs who have a shared goal of building something greater than ourselves even if we dont like each other we still want to keep what we have and have a mutual shared interest in securing resources, watching each others backs, building industries to increase resource aquisition, and built military fleets to protect those in our civilization from harm or to assault other civs who attack us or as a war like society destroy others before they destroy us with sapce conquest.

In DU its nothing like that.

There is not enough player controlled functionality in the game by far to enable any sensible expansion. We can't run our own markets (sensibly), we can't rent out space in tiles, we can't evict bad player constructs, we can't.. sigh.. it is a long list.

Warp should always be an option.

Just because you dont like the idea of retreat does not mean it hasnt been a viable option of self preservation since forever. Flight or flight is a natural respons. If this was a dog fighting sim or modern day I would say sure it should be slow boat all the time with no escape. But its a future space sci-fi game. Warp is always a retreat mechanic even for the empire.

But it works both ways since you can use it to attack too if you know what lane you are in if you did your homework and meet them where they are going if you jump to the same planet in the same lane.

Whatever the devs say is, and will always be, subject to change. This is an immutable fact brought about by the nature of game development and no amount of whining will change that. The more the playerbase insists that NQ honor each and every spoken word, then the more careful NQ will be, leading to far fewer and less detailed communications. The roadmap serves as the traditional middle ground to this delicate dynamic. We get to know where the ship is headed but the captain still has flexibility to decide how to get us there. I believe the reason players are crying mutiny is in large part because this critical piece of information has become outdated.

Mega is right that current actions border on deceit or stupidity. Take your pick, both are damning.

Losing players like Mega is a telling loss and I hope NQ pays attention. Their communication is shit. Their wishy washy stance on everything is shit.

The video in the URL is not my video, but some of the points he is making might be true.
I would like some civilization and environmental aspects in this game. But I am also saying, that DU sets new industrial standards if it comes to terrain interaction and design of constructs.

Please watch this video before continuing to read. Here is the URL:

I am also suggestion to open a new Upload Page that allows for uploads of 3D models of alien life as Suggestions (plants and animals). Your own 3D designers could then create life forms roughly based on these player-submitted suggestive models.

And I would like the idea of a few Ancient Alien Civilization Sites or Ancient Alien Fossil Sites - areas that cannot be claimed, but players can travel to those sites and start researching. There shoulkd be ten thousands of different research inventions, so a good number of players then own something only they can construct or do (incl. genetic modifications to the own body)
Game characters need a Security Rating. It is the level of that security rating, that determines what kind of research or research findings that character can make.  Some of the ancient sites are hold by the Peace Liga, some others by the Unrulies, and some sites cn be accessed by both or non-aligned members. The security rating determines which faction that player can join if (s)he wishes to do so, with all advantages and disadvantages an alignment comes with.

The security rating is influenced by how many times a player attacks another ship without being attacked first from that ship.

Like PVP space is very dangrous for unarmed gamers/ships, there should now also be a vast area (or even entire solar systems) that are held by the Peace Liga and their Police ships (not player-owned as members do not have the best weapon technology) driving out everyone who is not a member of the Peace Liga. This territory contains vast geological treasures, too, as the PVP space does. Destroyed non-Liga ships, however, can be looted by Liga members.

The purpose of all that is to create a situation where each side, and the people in between, need each other.

Not all researched elements or other things can be used by a player not being a member of that same faction.

The members of the Peace Liga have access ot a wide range of new, very beautiful but less robust honeycomb types and decorative elements, while Unruly members have a better access to less beautiful but more robust new honeycombs and elements.. Unaligned gamers have access to both but lack the protection and risk-free access to all areas within the territory of either faction.

    Civilization Building

I can imagine that there is a city for each of the three factions, each different in the way they look, but each with hundreds of roads and a few dozens of places ad plazas. The entire city would be NQ-created, may it be n a mountain peak or side, or in the flatlands. Each building has apartments beginning from the 2nd floor, and shops in the 1st floor (ground). Only once a player has some sorts of achievements, citizenship to the city of the own faction is offered.  Depending on the kind of achievement, the offred apartment is smaller or larger. With the then permanent ownership of the apartment comes automatically ownership of a shop (ground floor of the same building).

These cities expand with the amount of citizens.

The citizen can paint the inside walls, and also add all sorts of faction-available or existing general decorative elements..Some elements can be added to the outside, too.

Only a tiny daily quota of non-faction members can visit such a city. A non-faction member must have made achievments for the faction whose city (s)he wishes to visit. Some achievement last for only one visit, others allow a permanent licence and make that visitor to an acknowledged trade traveller (but only a fixed number of such traders is permitted on a monthly base). This way we dvelop trade connections and dependencies between factions and players. Civilization.

If a city citizen invites a member of another faction for a house visit, it is possible only if that visitor has some minimum achievements for the citizen*s faction, and the visitor won't be able to enter any shop or collect anything in any way.

Citizens can donate money with an aim: a new park (park size selectable, and the donors can add plants or decorations for a park area depending on their donation size), a new sporting area, statues, ponds and lakes, and so on.

If it comes to the discovery of new solar systems, the members of the two opposite factions can donate money to their faction's bidding on the ownership of that new system. If the faction wins, half of the money is returned, and the space outside the safe zone will be owned by them, allowing PVP ships or automated police ships inside. The faction of the unaligned will always have a risky access to that space outside the safe zone. The unaligned always dominate in the safe zone, while members of the two other factions have acces to it, too, but with a few limitations NQ has to develop. Maybe unaligned get the best trade taxations.

If destruction is allowed on some planets in the future, there should be each week 3x a randomly selected hour where no destrution is possible. During that hour the time of the next such hour is announced. Only during those hours, everyone can briefly visit those planets.

Within each faction, orgs of course still exist. And of course, each player cn build and keep his or her bases even when being a cisitzen of the faction city.

I dont have much quanta so I, like many others it seems have been selling ore.  I tried selling refined metals but they are even harder to sell.
There is a shortage of buyers so I have had to sell ore to buyers.  I decided it was time to do some math.
I have 4 hex currently producing T2 and T3 ore.
My estimated income per week is 12.5 mil less tax is 8.5 mil.  I'm not going to count calibration ore as it should roughly offset the MU that randomly turn themselves off.
After tax of 4 mil I'm left with 8.5 mil.  I have claimed a hex with a small amount of T4 and another with some T5 (currently HQ).
So, my next purchase will be a Rare MU for 23 mil.  So, thats 3 weeks away.  Income should then rise by 4.5 mil allowing for tax.  So total 13 mil.
My next purchase after that will be an Exotic MU .  Thats 64 mil.  So, another 5 weeks.
Then I'll be set.  So, this is based on current prices.  Mu prices might drop but so might ore prices.

The thing is.  I will not be purchasing anything from anybody (other than 2 MU) for the next 8 weeks at least.
If, many other players are like me, then, thats a long time with little economic activity.
Its also maybe going to be pretty boring, unfortunately.

That's why NQ has to step in at this point, because we can't. If we need expensive schematics - then we have to earn Quanta through missions. Expensive prices at the market do NOT help, because quanta there are only shifted from player A to B and do not flow into the game. On the contrary, trading there takes quanta out of the game through taxes.
If the player would ignore the market and create his own market, we could all build up much cheaper and faster.
Schematics we need - currently - but no more, we have in our society all schemtaics that are available in the game, we should share this "knowledge" only more sensibly with each other and not exploit each other.
