Lol I tried to offer to come scoop them, hook them up with a ship/base, rations, etc to help get them past some of the hurdles but even stil they chose not to play the game. They arent the first new player either that I offered that deal to but they are so turned off by the tutorial and the start that most give up before they even get going and I almost quit before I got rolling too. Im sure many other new players dont even take the time to even voice their concerns before they quit.

New players need some starting faction to pull together organizations and to have a fully functional ship, base, ration generations of gas/scrap and the ability to at least try out all the roles before going into one of the 3-4 main roles within the game. Without being able to try any of the industry right up front or allowing for some self sufficiency is a bad president to set even if they want to force conformed micro compartmentalized roles. It just simply does not work that way nor the type of playstles or play time people typically have on any given day being on the average of 1-4 hours for most people. Not being able to do anything beyond 1 role especially for our industry guy who has nothing to do since he cant fly, cant mine, cant run the machine, or pretty much play the game right now beyond moral support is rediculous for both new, current, or vet players.

There is no real higher function or purpose to most of the game as it currently is beyond mass producing and saturation of the market just to do it since nobody really wants to pvp and most features are being nerfed and somehow that is supposed to be a good thing when there should be more freedom, more renewable resources, more production, and JC just might get his epic single spacewar battle otherwise its JC handing large orgs everything while everyone else might see the content before JC again nerfs everything in the game so a handful of orgs can have fun while everyone else is being strangled by red tape and bone headed decisions. The vision is killing this game.

It will never be Eve, Star Citizen or any of the already niche market games they listed. Its a fact that they do it better and they make more money. a mine craft clone with space elements and EQN landmark building in a limited single solar system game is not my idea of shooting for the stars as it were and failing pretty hard in all aspects.

I was joking with my mining buddy that if this were told from the perspective of a story or movie it would have played out like:

Remember that time in EP4 of Star Wars when Obi Wan, Luke, Han, and Chewie were going to leave Mos Esiley pinned down by storm troopers who are growing by the minuite but they couldnt leave because the Millennium Falcon needed 12 L stabilizers to get it off the ground  but they spend the rest of the moving trying to position the stabilizers because they needed a bunch of space and couldnt find enough space to fit more than 4 so they finally got arrested by the Empire 1hr 42mins into the movie?

    Yeah me either...

Anyone remember that time in Star Trek when the Klingons fired 6 torpedoes at the Starship Enterprise and it blew up instantly because there was no defense systems developed and they just flat out stole the ship and the show became some wierd spinoff with some bazaro cast of space pirate klingons griefing the universe?

    Yeah me either...

Anyone remember that time in SG1 when the team got pinned down by the replicators and they thought they were gonners until some random patch updated their software and they lacked the schematic to kill humans and hard to go to the market and got scalped since all the market bots bought up the schematics and fleeced the replicators for 3x the price and instead they had to go mining for weeks on end and by the time they went to kill the SG1 team they were long gone?

    Yeah me either...

Anyone remember that time in the Matrix when Trinity wanted to fly the helicopter after saving Morpheus and she went to download the Piloting Talents and her que said that at 90 exp per min it would take her 171 days to be able to fully fly the helicopter and they all died one by one surrounded stuck on the roof by agents and military until the credits rolled?

    Yeah me neither...

It wouldnt be funny if it wasnt how this game plays normally. There is so much red tape and limitations that you cant have heroic moments or cool experiences in this game because the Dystopic Vision demands punishment and gind and monotony their dominatrix would be proud of. Rather then allowing people enough resources as a single or small org crew to even start to fight or do anything since the only real playstyle that matters is PvP or at least the first strike ambush gank pvp playstyle. You can at least cut through 90% of the red tape just by siezing ships then the headache it is to mine, process, craft, and sell items at a loss since most PvP players siezing items dont care how much they post it for and crafters are hurting for money and undercutting themselves just to try and break even before the inflation really hits before they turn around and add mining bots to then oversaturate and undo what they attempted to do. All without any real purpose or function or the ability to make our own markets or give reason to the only thing we can do really is to mine, make items, then gank more items. Its not a very solid gameplay loop.

Yeah it boggles the mind that you cant upgrade the basic tools or the nanopack.

I think that there should be some kind of exoskeleton line that at least turns the nanopack into a S/M container. Most times as a miner I can only grab a small node outside of container range and it would be nice if I could just pick up a standard 12kl node.

But moreso then anything I think that since  pilots have ships to invest in with a real purpose, or industry which has an investment of purpose, or PvPers having a ship and weapons / ammo to invest with a purpose that mining should also get some kind of vehicle or mech they can pilot which adds better capabilities or functions to mining and that depending on the size frame of a mech (10m/15m/20m/25m) could then have mountable parts like containers, weapons, lazers, mining drills, or any number of functions or impliments creating a new way for miners to play, pvpers to fight, and a hole host of things. As well as jump jets, melee weapons, and the ability to put them onto ships for drop ships or to load full containers onto ships without having to delete them but transfer them between cores.

Sabretooth reacted to teso91 in .23 Patch docking (fix) (fast docking)
New patch seems to have docking screwed over once again.  (when looking at your placement **as your maneuvering* it seems that it does not hit the voxel (flush) and i think that's why they are having docking issue.@NQ ( It was flush before .23. now it seems its a few inches/feet from voxels) It must be some voxel issue. Whatever..... here for the fast cast remedy and focus of this post.  Stop spending time trying to dock things is the focus of this post.

    Remedy:

Step 1: Setting your ship down:--> Set your Ship down on an "ELEMENT".  (Setting 1 ship onto another)

I have found this to be better vs voxel.

Step 2: Set your ship at an angle (with a nice slope)

Step 3: Disable all Em control modules.

Step 4:  Maneuver your construct repeatingly onto the element. If your ship is @ slope angle you should see it slide off if it doesn't dock. (*wait a few seconds). Make sure your ship is sloped at a good angle .

Step 5: Noticing your construct is not sliding and seated. Congratulations you have successfully docked your construct on your construct.  In order to verify your construct is successfully docked-- Maneuver your construct with the maneuver tool(Construct that is not docking, but being docked)
    .

Ships blow up because docking not working.  Don't blow up! Try this!

    Have fun, Fly Safe.

The other day, I warped to Madis and saw a ship parked next to the warp point. I landed on the ship and activated its physics. Went back to my ship and followed it down to Madis over the course of ~10 minutes and watched it crash and burn. Fun stuff.

Well, its not really a map. But you never know where you are in this game because the entire planet looks the same. Its not like there are continents so you can look at the map and see where you are going. Also, what if you have multiple markets you have to visit?
I have located some of the markets on sanctuary and tried to put them in a sort of 'flat map', putting the markets next to each other. Easier for route-planning

    northpole: 3
    upper sphere: 8 - 12 - 11 - 16 - 10
    equator: 17 - 6 - 19 - 2 - (9) - 13 -5 - 4
    lower sphere: 9
    lower sphere: 15 - 20 - (9) 18 - 7
    southpole: 1 -14

Market 9 is below the equator and 'between' markets 2, 13 and 18

I hope you understand what I tried to do here. Its very difficult to see where you are on the map in perspective to where you are going so i hope this will help a bit.

NQ fecked up the manoeuvre tool for everyone because a tiny percentage of players were using it in creative and occasionally underhanded ways that JC didn’t like.

So they came up with the nerf hammer: a convoluted set of conditions such as the 3min,  128m rule,  standing in a dynamic construct prevents core docking etc.  ships fall if you’re not grounded and release them... etc.

basically turning a useful tool that some people put half a million XP into into YATM (yet another tiresome mechanic).

since the game has absolutely no actual docking mechanisms such as grapples, beams, collars, slots, magnetic plates etc. it was useful for “hangar staff” to be able to align fighters in a bay like you see in the movies, all shipshape and Bristol fashion, ready for rapid release.

But if you try that now, you’ll just end up if a bunch of ships sliding around with zero friction.

...because surface friction on voxels, like the bottoms of your avatar’s shoes being as slick as a car salesman’s tongue, also seems to be something NQ can’t manage to master.

I first came in contact with this game in 2017. I was so excited, WOW, player created content only and all one 1 server!! I started to play the game 'Avorion' to start learning how to build. beginning of 2020 I started with Space Engineers to take my building skills to the next level.

The August 2020, DU comes out, the building part is very frustrating because of voxelmancy. Yes we have seen beautiful things, but 95% is a box (bases and ships!!). And then comes 0.23 update. Now the building part is harder (because you cant just start building) because of schematics. Remember when we started, you got your first industry unit and finally able to make an S-container? Or the time it took to save up materials for an dynamic L and wait 3 days before its finished? No can do now, buy the schematic first please!

The only thing going for this game is the single server thing and the fact that Im at home a lot f the time. If this wasnt the case, the game would be dead already. Filling up a L container with ore takes at least 2 hours (imagine you have to scan and find the nodes too, youll be busy for 4 hours!) If it wasnt for this pandemic I wouldnt have the time to be grinding 3-4 times a week so I could enjoy and actually play(not grind) the game once a month.
Also, after 3 months and 9mil of daily quanta, I had no money in my pocket. So I think a lot of people, just like me, where already spending all of their money.

So yes I agree that they killed it in a time where they should have attracted more players because everybody is at home.

I think my argumentation displays that I´m not silly, my engagement in a online game that I´m not a extrovert and I´m pretty sure that I´m not running from my self. Further I do not blame Nova Quark, I just question the latest decisions and the effect they had on the game and the player community.

What I cant understand is why a crowdfunded game were player, including myself, investet as much or more than a tripple A titel increases the grind factor dramaticly and pushes away player who were already engaged in the game. I was playing with people who I never saw again after the patch. Thats more than sad in times were the world is already stressed out.

What you fanboys totally miss is the fact the OP pointed out: During lockdowns more people play (online) games. NQ managed to "kill" their game in such a favorable situation, thus proving it was a shit idea they went with.

This is a fact that can not be argued. Lots of people voted "this is shit, I won't play it anymore", so stop this god damn cringe fanboying. The patch wasn't thought through at all, it was a terrible idea to do it this way and not even the math was correct, and I find people like you attacking anyone who spells this out cancer.

I'm here to share my voice and opinion.

NQ is dastardly and shameful for your responses. How dare you penalize other players and ban them for taking advantage of your blunderous buffonery. It's YOUR fault. What the hell?

"So the situation with the market is clearly covered by section 5.2 of the EULA: “You must refrain from engaging in any behaviour that could harm NOVAQUARK’s image and/or reputation, that could harm one or more other Users or have a negative impact on their gaming experience, or that is detrimental to the proper functioning of the Game.”"

Bullshit, you ruined your own image and reputation by screwing up and not having quality assurance and quality control and good tools. Your response is childish, and my stomach churns over this pretentious behavior given the sad state of your game currently masquerading as a beta which is really an alpha. How dare I support such a goofy group of greenhorn game devs who act like this.

NQ, you screwed up big time, and your response is indignant and telling of your emotional intelligence as an organization. Clearly you do not care for your customers or the money and assistance they bring in.

"Let us be clear, we will not tolerate this kind of behaviour during any phase of the development of Dual Universe."

Get good at game development. Your team doesn't play your own game, and you clearly don't have good development tools, and it shows.

"Now, this does obviously not apply to NQ-built constructs, which are designed to serve a specific purpose in the game."

Oh jesus christ on sale. lol Childish response from an administrative perspective. Banning players for doing things you allowed in game? Why don't you admin it back the way it's supposed to be? Or did you not think of that because you've never developed a game before? I'd think this and CS would have been top of mind for a game like yours.

Whining and complaining about how "bugs take manpower to fix" Yeah no shit, go fix them. It's your problem not ours. It's your fault, not ours.

You allowed this to happen. It's your fault. I do not approve of this action, and it's a real shame that you, NQ, acted and responded like this.

Yeah its just plain boring now.  I tried to login and play the other day and spent hours trying to find recipes since it's such a PAIN to search for them.  I can't believe how rudimentary the search features are in this game.  Three hours later and four marketplace trips that still are so laggy it makes the game crash every time and  I realize I have to go to another planet for three of the schematics.  So that means I now have to build up my skills again.   Nope.  I don't want to spend another hour or two clicking those damn skills buttons and trying to drag them into order with the most un-user-friendly ordering feature I have ever seen.

So that's like four hours of game play and nothing, whatsoever, fun about any of it.   I can't even bring myself to spend 30 minutes logging in and crashing several times just to claim my daily money.  This game might sound good on paper, but its just not fun at all for me anymore.  Most of my org has quit playing too. Everyone playing different games now.   I dont know if NQ can fix it, so idk if I'll play again.  Have to wait and see if any of their new features add a little more fun, or if its just more sitting inside a menu and clicking stuff or not.

Setting up a factory to produce everything one desires is just the first step, for many of us, through ensuring we have a reliable supply of elements and material with which to build our ships. The market is unreliable or too time consuming. Why would we spend hours traveling to different markets to pick up various ship building parts when we can just mine ore from our tiles and make what we need?

The changes seem a bit excessive for the maneuver tool, only being able to lift the ship slightly will not cut it in some of the harsher terrain with peaks and valleys etc. Wreck recovery will suffer from these maneuver tool changes. It often takes more than the tool limit height to recover wrecks. With these changes I assume it will be even more difficult. The coming back to the game from a disconnect while flying change seems like a really bad idea to me. I don't have  a current modern PC this game does not load up in a timely fashion for me. This will result in "X" amount of faith flying until the game actually loads up. Probably not a huge problem for someone with the latest hardware but for me that will be difficult.

    Hi there,
I am not a real fighter in games, but I do like RTS classics like red alert and total annihilation.
I am more of a Cities Skylines/Simcity kind of guy. Also like building spaceships in Space Engineers and Avorion.

I am excited about this game, because it CAN be a giant museum of pretty builds. People can build like the statue of liberty or the eiffel tower and you could see a beautiful, man-made planet or city. I would just hop in a speeder and look at all the things that would be built around the planet. In other games you have to upload your build to something like steam, and then download it to be part in your game. Or watch a review of the build in a online video. In this game it would/could be a landmark

    So.... After watching hours of youtube and twitch video's and streams, I am a bit concerned about resources;
The factories and builds I see now dont have walls and are just frames (because of saving materials). And without walls , most of them dont look impressive at all.
Is there enough material on your square kilometer of claimed territory to build a big building, or even a small city? Or do you have to roam the (small) universe for more materials just to bring it to your territory and continue with your build?
