I think the craziest symptom of this oversharing is the way you used to be able to see all the tunnels inside the planet you were digging in, if you managed to clip your head through a tunnel wall (which wasn't as rare an occurrence as you might hope...). What's the point of my machine even knowing about things that are entirely outside my ability to perceive or affect.

At this point in the game's history, I honestly see no point in giving one's suggestions any more.
Pretty much everything you have said has been suggested in some form or other by others both here and even more pointlessly on Discord.
NQ are developing the game at their own pace, in their own way and very obviously, in their own sweet time. They clearly don't need our opinions. /shrug/

My first ever gripe with DU, made over 4 years ago, IIRC was XS Space Tanks, this was requested dozens if not hundreds of times. And at loooooooong last, in the "Final Release" (LOL), version of the game, they were added.

Instead of listening and adding one scaled element to the game, a few years later they introduced a fuelling access point which was not a linkable element but was basically just a 1 voxel micro-door. LOL.

It took nearly 50 months to introduce one single element which had been requested repeatedly so many times that to me, it almost became a meme.

So just to recap. You are wiping all of our player made content and progress from the last two years, going from Beta to Launch with almost no real new content/systems ready at launch (only quality of life improvements) and now you are more than doubling the price of the monthly subscription? Do you guys say these things out loud in meetings before you announce them? You know it sounds crazy right?

Excuse me, but I think it's a dream that this game is no longer a beta. Also that it should have a value of 12,99€ (times Euro in my room). When I launch the game, which is more like half a game with no content, it will compete with real games bulging with content. How, please, does this price reflect the content of the game? Then please, slap a shop still in the game for cosmetic things so you can survive financially.

    Dear NovaQuark and investors,

There's absolutely no [filtered]ing way the game (Dual Universe) is worth that much on its current state. Everyone knows this release is being a rushed one and other than saying "we aren't in beta anymore" there's no valid reason to say this game isn't a beta. You don't even have a roadmap anymore, and even when you had, most of things that were promised/planned for the game haven't been delivered. For all it's worth, DU should never go past the $10 monthly mark unless you, NovaQuark, actually put work into bringing more content, lore, events and FUN into the game, instead of making it a big afk mess which feels more like those mobile money-grabbing games than a proper PC MMO.

I really hope that with a 50% raise in subscription costs you also deliver AT LEAST 50% more content, fun and quality to justify this increase, because being very honest here, the game isn't worth that price, and if you don't trust/listen us from the player base, I really hope you brace yourselves for the Steam and independent reviews, because I'm sure they won't be good. And don't expect Dual Universe is going to live well enough to do a No Man's Sky turnaround, because the moment you release it charging $15 a month the expectations will be high, and everyone here who played the game in all it's phases knows it won't last.

Good luck with your afk game, we tried supporting you with content, feedback and even wishlisting the game, but every announcement you give us gives an even worse impression on the outcome of this pseudo-release.

    To clarify on others' responses:

You get the 2 weeks of free game time if you purchased ($) game time on your account via beta subscriptions, and then stopped playing (i.e. your subscription expired) for at least 1 month. In this case, NQ will give you the 2 weeks to encourage you to try the game again and see if you like it now. If you had a free beta key, or an alpha account, then you don't get these 2 weeks.

Core blueprints (not ordinary blueprints) will persist on your character into launch, but you will need an active subscription to access them.

Sabretooth reacted to Zarcata in What kind of in-game events would you like to see in Dual Universe?
Of course I like treasure hunts, many games offer it and it is incredibly fun! Except in DualUniverse, it's boring and sobering. There are no real "treasures". There are no achievements for treasures, no treasures worth finding or interconnected to collect all of one type of treasure to end up making interesting items that you can not only connect in the achievement system, but also with title "The Treasurer" or you can then use the items for your house, as furnishings or design items for display. "I've found a whole porcelain set and excavated it in many places in deserts...or found ancient wine and wine casks in ruins in the basement, ancient sculptures of past cultures...seriously DualUniverse would have such gigantic potential - it just doesn't seem to be used!". It is this searching, finding, collecting, completing sets, then displaying found objects that can provide great pleasure and employment. Have you ever looked at "Archaeology" in World of Warcraft or collecting and exploring in archeage....?

I myself do not like rigid events, but would prefer it if you build such content firmly into the game, so that the players can occupy themselves with it when they want, when they have time and desire and not only "in this one week" from - to, at the event.
You can design a game and build in more and more content that serves the voluntary occupation. Please do not make it a duty with time constraints. Give us a better and more exciting achievement system, with titles, pets, mounts and lots of housing elements for decoration. A lot of players are collectors, the time you could spend on it if you implement it well is limitless and you can always expand it with new collections.

I appreciate the clarification, and I also think it is worth clarification that I am not new, I have been around since Kickstarter, my forum account is new. My projects were ruined several times from the updates, thus all the negativity. I used to peacefully create in DU, quietly, happily, working and sharing what I made. It was really my favorite way to spend every evening.

That said I feel this year has really stripped that away from creative/builder players like myself. The negativity in my opinion is extremely well earned.

NQ was warned about consequences and outcomes so so many times, and they chose to march head long into development choices that has really killed any incentive and motivation for players to continue community or personal projects at this time. So when you tell me the devs will quickly tune out negativity, they already tuned out positive feedback and suggestions since around update .23.

There are SO many games and I have mentioned them by name in this forum before where I sank hundreds of hours, and despite bugs and lack of polish found them to be amazingly enjoyable experiences. That said none of them were what DU used to be, and what DU used to be was something I was willing to sink thousands of hours into happily.

When I commit to an online game/mmo, I do so in a dedicated sense for 5,10,15 years. That was my dream for this, and I believe that was the dream of many players during the first few months of "BETA" launch. No one here is asking for perfection, we are asking that this game be able to host at least some basic functionality that has been done time and time again in nearly every MMO since the early 2000's.

When we BEG!!!! for basic quality of life features that have been around for 15-20 years, then what else are we going to do besides feel negative? Cause asking, begging, and pleading with them just all gets ignored. As also said before more positive things would be expressed if positive things were happening. Instead what we need is ignored, and we continue to have things we absolutely don't want force fed down our throat if we choose to stick around.

To me it is so very very clearly apparent, and I am not at all alone in my views on the issues I have listed.
I voice my opinion the way I do, cause it is the only way I know how to communicate it, NOT cause I am some EVIL VILLAIN OF DU here purely to ruin the day for everyone.

Sabretooth reacted to CptLoRes in need more PvP. turn it on everywhere for test
    So let's summarize.

DU is a building game with PvP. And the PvP part is bad, like really bad and consequentially not many people are doing it.
And the solution is to force the builder part of the game to join the PvP regardless of if they want to or not? Sounds like a great idea! For killing a game that is already dying that is.

Hint. Those that want to play the PvP part, are already doing so. And one would think the obvious way to increase PvP participation without chasing away players, would be to improve the PvP mechanics?

And here is some shocking news. Not all games has to be all about the pewpew. Are builders running around screaming "you must build. Or else!!". No they are not because that would be silly. So why is it that some of PvP players are doing exactly that..?

Well....that's not really an example of emergent gameplay. That's an example of classic gameplay. Emergent gameplay is gameplay that arises from mechanics in ways the developer didn't explicitly implement. Alien cores aren't that...they work exactly as the devs intended. Racing in DU is an example of emergent gameplay, alien cores really aren't.

This sentence...doesn't even make sense to me, but there's a love of false dichotomy when discussing valid criticisms of DU's implementation of PvP. The reality that PvP in DU is underdeveloped, buggy, not performant, and boring doesn't mean we loathe the concept of PvP.

That's the classic false dichotomy -- "if you don't agree that safe zones need to be abolished, you hate PvP and therefore the game will fail".

No, that's not it at all.

Personally, I like PvP games -- but I play games designed for PvP where teamwork, skill, and strategy make all the difference. Games where your opponent has as much chance to win as you do. Games with mechanics designed around PvP and balance. DU isn't that. It isn't anything close to that. It's an obscure, niche implementation in an already-niche game that only will ever appeal to a highly niche group of players.

You're allowed to believe ripping down safe zones will inexplicably and magically make this game popular...but calling everyone that doesn't share that view self-absorbed and "embittered" is exactly the sort of ad hominem that makes people think PvP players are childish.

Anyone that's played DU's version of combat and believes "yeah, this is what will make the game popular!" is not seeing some obvious realities about the gamer market and the ability for combat in DU to support a paid monthly sub.

I think it's funny that the majority of self-proclaimed "PVP" players all demand to get to be the pirate.  But none of them seem to be interested in playing the game in a way that creates PVP for other players.  Get out there and haul something in the PVP zone, build something in the PVP zone.  Do something in the PVP zone.

Always the same two things around here...if it isn't people arguing about a wipe, it's arguing about PvP. Now that the wipe has received 1500 posts with little hope of answers from NQ, it's back to debating about PvP.

I don't get why there's such an obsession with tearing down the safe zones as if that's the only thing the game needs.

Every piece of evidence and history suggests PvP is a niche activity within an already-niche game...combat in DU just isn't interesting to me. It's boring. It's slow. It doesn't perform well.

I play a good amount of actual PvP games. I'm not risk averse or shy about competition or teamwork, and I do wish PvP in this game was better...but the actual mechanics just aren't developed enough. Combat in this game has very little depth.

All that aside, removing safe zones is kind of a moot point when there's no prospects of territory war. Why does it matter where there's safe zones when there's literally nothing to fight over...?

Alien cores are DU's only version of territory war for the foreseeable future. Alien cores might be the only version of TW that DU will ever see, period.

I see no evidence that they'll magically resolve the many performance issues around combat, and unless they do there's no way they'll roll out TW universally. Maybe we'll see TW in space someday. Big maybe.

TLDR: It's great if you like PVP, but IMO it isn't nearly developed or mainstream enough to "save" this game.

OK, in that case no, I would not expect that to happen. SImple fact isthat the majority of the playerbase was, is and will be not too interested in or averse to combat PVP. And a lot of these people will effectively accomodate you to go and engage in it.

A server which has no safezones and no options for people not interested in combat PVP will ba far more expensive to run and there is several videos on YT which research this to the point where it is clear that PVP only servers are showing much lower retention numbers and generally tend to bleed to death once they get "visited" by gankers who just go around and destroy whateever for no reaosn but that they can. And many actually good games have pretty much died for that very reason, RUST being a good example.

DU is very clearly not a game which has PVP at its core, it  is not designed to revolve around it.

None of the games in that list are sandbox MMO games

No so much into selling and markets, but what I did find interesting was some of the tips in the "rules and guidelines" document on how to maintain frame rate performance.
And what they are telling us here, is that the voxel engine does not do proper occlusion culling. Something that is essential for performance in any kind of 3D engine. And this would also explain why the game struggled so much (performance wise) with having leftover mining tunnels everywhere, and why there is so much market lag in general since the game has to render both the outside and the inside of all constructs all the time.

Then why are PvP players crying? You can just as well build your bases in the much larger PvP area and defend them? How many PvP players have their space base in the PvP area?
You are not forced to build in the PvE area - you can also do that in the PvP area.
You can build a player market in the PvP area as well, what's stopping you? You as PvP players could create this area the way you want it. Get together, create your own RP rules and then make sure that the PvP players follow them. Build a common pirate marketplace that all PvP players guard. Build your own organization space bases and fight each other. You want to PvP - what's stopping you? You don't need T3,4,5...you can create, experience and have fun with PvP even with T1-T2 engines and weapons.
It is simply wrong if a PvP player always needs something special to get PvP ambitions. Look at PvE cities, they just pop up without needing to reward PvE players.
If the outer planets lose their protection, you own even far more, most of the planets then too...and still people would keep crying.

No player markets, and now NQ making showrooms and exchange because captains customs and all the countless others weren't good enough? This game has 0 npcs or real pve content and was marketed as player driven, yet every patch they restrict what a player can do in the universe.  I don't see this game lasting 6 months past "release".

The most valuable resources are in pvp space. And, assuming pvp players like to pvp, it is also the only place where pvp players can do that thing they like.

People who want to have some tight pvp action are not drawn by pvp, the whole framework doesn’t really work for good pvp. Instead of adding more and more stuff to pvp space, and making changes for all players to balance pvp even if it harms pve players, maybe it is time for NQ to instead look for more ways to make pve more interesting and work with what DU is already quite good at. Look at games like Stormworks, Airmen, Satisfactory to compliment the who player driven, resource management, ship building, civilisation building thing. Stop trying to shoehorn the whole game into the pvp genre.

And if some percentage of the pve players like pvp, you get more pvp players, too. because the pve players can live without the pvp players.

What is it with you guys and "PvP is too small and only visible at the edges"? PvP is the largest area in the game, so this small safe zone is hardly worth mentioning.
The problem is not the size of the zone, but that there are too few interested PvP players. But that's not the fault of the PvE players.
What prevents PvPers from building up space bases in PvP and then simply defending them? That's right, you could lose them, which is why PvPers also prefer to build in the safe zone....

Sabretooth got a reaction from Zarcata in This game was fine as a sandbox building game
oh man.... Ive read so many me, me, me, me posts from pvp lovers, its becoming embarassing to me. 85% of this game is PVP zone, but you still want more, up to 99% or even a 100% of all area MUST be pvp. Also the me, me, me, me, with the ores. Like special ore should only be availabe to people who want to pew pew or risk to pew pew. Builders cant make elevators or gates,! I could agree with 1 or 2 pvp planets, so there can be war in gravital air (thats why they could introduce gas-giant planets'') and could have, like 5 times more T5 ore in those zones.
And tell me, if there is no safe-zone, would you build a base, that will take 8 months to complete only to see it destroyed in 2 days by [fill in a name like Legion]?
The list of players that rage-quit because of the loss of 1 m-core while hauling or d/c while trying to land, goes on and on... losing a whole base WILL make people throw important stuff(read: desktops, laptops, deskchairs, keyboards, mouses, coffeecups, headsets) through unopened windows. I can assure you that

As a builder, I was satisfied with the way it was set up after 0.23. I could build and mine whenever and wherever I wanted. Never been into pvp territory in 16 months of playing. The fact that 'Legion had won DU' didnt bother me at all. I would never meet a Legion pvp ship because I do not come into their space. So I wont see their builds unless its on a tube video.

And so, this game was fine as it was: a sandbox building game (with pvp possiblities) and expanding the building part would also benefit the pew pew people.
Because pew pew people also like to build a home base, they also like more cockpits, they also would like to colour their wings and engines on their ships.
This dumb focus on pew pew play is not the thing that needed attention.
I think having a pet would attract more players to come back than the 'pvp-improvements' they have made. They could have introduced pets, that have abilities that boast your character, like boast building speed or adjustor power(being explained as agility). Also let them have talent points also, maybe only develop when you take them with you. Just to display all the pets (read: DU pokémon) would be something people would visit (builders that visit pvp players, wtf???)

Character creation, is something that this game lacked for almost 2 years now, (there is a new update that adresses this, I think)
    just a spacesuit colour,
    in an mmo space game.
Please help me God, at least give us more humanoid races, like having a tail, or a shark's head

But as I was saying in my first post: nq is trying to proof me wrong, let see what will happen
