    just exactly that.

are you planning to make this new mining system less a "work" instead of a game?
with the current system we need to loging regulary to not waste charges, calibratio, profit

    this is not fun!

Those are LONG EXPOSURE photographs, mostly made with Hubble Palette (which BTW is not how they really look like, the hubble palette uses false colors).
To get faint nebulae and galaxies to be visible like in those photos you need to do long exposure photography (I usually do 4 x 4 hours) in order to gather enough light to actually be able to SEE anything.
With your naked eye all you would see is BLACKNESS.

Why do you still have the nebula when vast majority say it looks terrible, and is so cartoony.  Everyone in alpha loved the old skybox.  Should stick with that but then work on your actual lighting problems, not some blanket greenish hue all over my screen.

    Question 01:
Is it possible to take the gambling factor out of the mining unit system? It is always a risk factor that you cannot influence and for some areas it is then a question of the profitability of ores and taxes.

    Question02:
Is it possible to enable all skill points of the MiningUnits via VR. Again, it is a nonsensical calculation if you have to fly your fields and thus spend a lot of time and fuel to calibrate these MiningUnits to get an economic return.

    Question03:
At the moment a lot of Quanta is taken out of the game by taxes, at the same time the VR restriction on missions prevented Quanta from coming into the game in sufficient quantity. Is this really the way it is meant to be?

    Question04:
It seems to discourage a lot of players from logging in to pay their taxes. Frustration has arisen among many players, some are moving back to Sanctuary and some are simply leaving the game and cancelling their subscriptions. Wouldn't it be enough if the headquarters (HQ) could also be exempt from tax and at the same time be used for industries? This would certainly make a positive difference for many players.

The mining mini-game such bad gameplay.  Apart from the fact that the mini-game is just tedious, it's also completely RNG so sometimes we get 4k rocks and sometimes 1k, and on top of that half the time is flat out doesn't work and gives no rocks.

Please fix the bugs, and re-work the gameplay so it's not so demoralising. I'm really getting fed up of logging in to just be disappointed by the randomness of it all.

Ideally, get rid of the mini game and the RNG completely - make calibrate a button you press to keep efficiency up and spawn surface rocks at 100% each time.

It's frustrating enough to make a profit the way things are atm, never mind farm enough ore to actually build something.

    - The previous manual mining system worked on positive reinforcement: time put in = amount of ore gained, and finding the ore was a predictable and rewarding mini-game.
    - Current mining unit is an RNG mini-game, that is time gated, and only rewards small amounts of ore (if it actually works!), which is more along the lines of negative reinforcement. It just annoys me every time I do it because it's not optimal, and no amount of extra effort/time can change that.

A real step backwards in core DU gameplay.

So the meta is no longer mining and now salvaging?  Is the new point system the tears and rage of people who supporting your game early on?  I'm really struggling to find anything in the recent changes that are fun or enjoyable.  Taxes and reduced resources are not it...

Q: can you go more into detail regarding the voxel chunk complexity limitation?
the mechanic seems to be erratic and not transparent.
Q2: also please explain the technical background, when ships are wireframed by the mesh server why do we need that complexity limit?

Why T1 ore has been removed from Jago, Lacobus, Symeon, Ion?
By doing this, you prevent people from having their base on these planets.

    Are you playing the game?
I ask that because a lot of small improvement could be done to improve the player experience.

Have you tested the "new player" experience of the game with the new patch?
Testing that take ~3h, because you will see very fast that after 3h you have nothing to do but harvesting and waiting that your MU give your ore.
We want to have new player in the game, this is a way to keep the game alive. If someone that have 5h a Sunday afternoon to test the game, don't enjoy it, he will not play it anymore.

What will you do to improve Org management?
The game is missing a lot of feature if you want to manage correctly. With Demeter you have not added anything for the orgs.
No ingame calendar, taxes on mission for orgs, only 3 type of member, etc...

Why I can subscribe an account for 6 month and put only 13 weeks in reserve for my tile?
This is absurd, if I pay for an account I should be able to protect my assets for the time being.
I am not saying that it should be automatically protected, but I should be able to put enough money for the upkeep.

When the Lua API for Mining Unit will be implemented?
There is no data we can get from the Mining Unit, would be nice to be able to track the status via Lua.

Why there is no way to track the calibration charge we have without a Mining Unit?
The only way to know how many charge we have is to activate a Mining Unit. We should be able to know that without having to activate a Mining Unit.

I'd say making a realtively minor change, with really not as much of an impact as you seem to want to imply, which may well retain paying customers.. Seems like a good idea to consider.

Somehow the DU forum is pretty good at derailing every topic.
So I will just post my opinion about the "derailed" part which barely touches the original post. I am sorry.

Some people are very involved in the game. They are like
"Just login every day and everything is fine. And then you just do some missions which take roughly 4 hours AFKing and you are totally wealthy".
Problem is: Not everyone is playing games this way. Some people like to play a bit when they want to.

And about the "maths" part in this topic:
I probably "could" do the maths. But I just want to play this game for fun. If I am required to do maths about my possible income and wether or not I am able to pay my tile is a pretty bad game design idea. Because not everyone wants to min/max a game.
Some people just want to have fun and relax a bit.

    1. Those that don't agree with you aren't automatically whiners.
    2. Respectfully, go fuck yourself. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA in college and that included Trig, Calc, Linear Algrebra, Geometry etc. all in an advanced and accelerated 4 week course for all topics just listed. Far beyond "basic" math. Not everyone that disagrees with you is stupid either.

If you can't support your points without disrespecting/insulting myself and the general community, then your arguments are weak.

    1. Please make HQ tiles 7 vs. 5 so that way if we need to take a break we can maintain a bonus constellation of hexes if we can't be online to mine it for extended period of time. 5 seems like an arbitrary number out of kneejerk response to appease all the players with torches and pitchforks. 7 on the other hand creates a function & aesthetic number of tiles that feels complete, and allows players to take breaks in case you know their parents has cancer, or they lose their job, or both of these things at the same time.... kind of stuff in life.

    2. Make recalibration & drop off after 7 days not 2... (keep the current recharge rates/cap etc.) If I have to login every day to spend my charges, I don't want to do it to nanny the same mining unit I just nannied 48 hours ago, to simply maintain efficiency rates. Some of us can only play on weekends, and work several jobs, so it feels like a punishment for being responsible in real life.

@NQ you really need to review some mechanics here to let single players be competitive.
You need to have a progressive taxation that is very small for few territories and grows for each territory someone gets on a planet/moon. Only in this way you can achieve what you said was the purpose to avoid players or orgs to have too many Territories because only in this way a territory can't (as you declared) repay itself just mining it.
You need to review the asteroid mining. The asteroids cannot spawn all together on weekend, you penalize who can't play on weekend, they need to spawn randomly at any time in any day.
You can't reveal an asteroid as soon as a player approaches it, you don't give chance to this player to get anything since someone else will arrive in short time to the asteroid. Single players again are screwed.
You cannot deny a player to warp away if has been attacked by someone it is unrealistic and a clear intention from your side to give "food" to those play just for pvp... sorry I'm not interested in it, the pvp in this game is just horrible plus with all connection problems I'm not going to risk all I've for nothing because yes it is just nothing for a single player go to an asteroid out of e safe zone and not having the time to get anything.
Said so I think the performances increase a bit but not because of the terrain but because now I can set max 30 construct, in fact at the market there was no digging stuff but many constructs and while before i almost couldn't move on them now I get less freezing time.
Hope you listen what I wrote because I think can really make the difference in having players keep playing or having them gone.
In the past year I worked a lot to have an industry and now with this mechanic I may not be able to run it for the type of material I need and can't get anymore. Buying all of them it doesn't make sense.

Speak for yourself, I've played this on and off for 5 years and I don't have a huge amount of money, I do however have a structure that spreads across 5 tiles.  I design, I build and I used to enjoy.  This update pushes people like myself out of the game unless I am screwed for tax in game while have to cover a sub in real life.

Why worry about Orgs taking over swathes of the map, this game is moving more toward supporting only Org related play and players every-time there is a change.

I pity the casual player that can't build that well has to rely on extortionate priced or crappy system ships as well as run around just getting money so his play isn't blocked.  I don't like the direction the game is taking at all.  It's not living up to the initial idea or promises of freedom to do what you want... because if you are poor this game isn't for you.

And for a start every player should have been given a courtesy miner to start off with so they can test this mechanic, this is a 'beta' game after all isn't it?

I used to have 7 friends playing this, we built a beautiful structure on Alioth, designed some amazing ships and they have all stopped playing.  My home is Jago and I've had to deconstruct everything on Alioth so all our efforts at least for parts and voxels are not lost.

My current funds if I don't start selling Ore for meager returns will last me 2 months, logging in daily will give me enough to cover 1 tile tax only.  I have other things in life than this game and I feel the end of the road coming near.

The 1 million quanta territory tax a week has made this game no fun. Who wants to run T1 Mining units just to pay territory tax for that tile. Can we get bigger pools on T1 and have the basic mining unit L pull more l/h? I have waited to post anything to this thread until I had T1-T3 mining units working in the field. With the ore amounts those mu pull it should be easy to pay territory tax and have ore for my factor. The T1s are just insufficient and made this game go from fun to work.  Can we please store more calibration charges, have the MU maintain efficiency longer, and T1 pools bigger and T1 mu pool more ore? Other wise this game turns into a job instead of something fun to do.

In the last Q&A I asked about the spread of T4/T5 ores being deliberately pushed to the asteroids, to which the response was 'No' - Now with the deployment of Demeter, the spread of all ores seem to have been significantly reduced across all planets, but particularly T3 and above, with even T2 being a lot more rare than before the geo reset.

This seems to go directly against the response given in the previous Q&A, as well as significantly impacting the ability of players (especially solo) to find and establish a stable ore income of reasonable volume & diversity.

Short term: Has NQ considered the impact of low quanta fluidity in supporting the new tile taxes, as ppl are trying to sell ore to raise quanta, but all other ppl are also selling ore to raise quanta, so not being able to purchase listed ores - resulting in a stalling of quanta flow through the economy?

Long term: Has NQ considered the impact of potential ore rarity due to low extraction volumes, brought about by miners not transitioning to the new MU's (or just giving up on the game-play loop due to dis-interest), extraction rate caps from pool rates and charge caps, as well as larger orgs stockpiling to maintain gigafactorys (and potentially control market manipulation) and reduced quanta flow through the economy due to tile taxes?
And no, saying players can always take Aphelia Missions to make quanta is NOT a reasonable response, as Missions are not a game-play loop that many players want to, or are able to spend the time undertaking.

All right I think that more or less I got how it works:
Base rate: Probably defined by the rate of the Mining Unit
Efficiency: No idea where it comes from - probably skills
Adjacency: you got +10% for each neighbour tile you have
Callibration: Result of your callibration minigame affected by something - probably skills

    Production rate = floor(Base rate * (Efficiency + Adjacency) * Callibration)

Who ever got the idea that mining units are efficient with the result after a day while i can do the same in about 20/30 minutes stone grabbing. The previous mining had a gigantic load of ore per Hour with respect to the mining units.
That combined with the tax per hex i get the suspicion there are ulteriour motives behind this whole new development, there is no way this is something thought up for the benefit of All players. Only the previous exploiders and mass organizations will benefit, all others will feel the pain. Why is it so hard to live up to kickstarter promisses?  The way you break promisses weekly with such easy you need to sit in the naughty corner almost permanent!
