If NQ has changed their plans to expand the universe and drive players in a way they will venture out then resetting what's in the ground every 6 months or so would not be a terrible idea. At he same time though, that reset would need to be random so that you will not have bots parked on a tile with high value ores, just mining it every cycle.

The whole problem with the territory claims is that they were supposed to drive communities to build cities and create their own facilities. More and more that is hollowed out o only bieng mining and/or industry as nothing else is really provided for and NQ has yet to give any indication on where those intial plans have gone. The whole metaverse idea really is nowhere to be seen at this time.

Resources will never incentivise city building as that is more of a social structure mechanic. City building design solution would be more like this.

Social. DU has a couple of novelty cities that has popped up but there is absolutely no use for them. Cities are currently nothing more than empty ghost towns with the only purpose of filling up your voxel cache. Possible solution to this is too introduce a residency mechanic to give towns and cities a purpose. Mechanic could work as followed: Every character created has 2 possible residency declarations. A player can use these to declare residency on a static or space core. When a territory reaches a certain amount of resident players the territory owner can declare the territory as a village. This will give all residents certain bonuses while within the territory and some lesser bonuses for visitors. Bonuses could be anything from Indy to put down skills. As the territory gets more residents it can evolve to a town, city and metropolis. As it evolves the bonuses gets bigger and better and once you reach city state neighbouring territories with the same owner can share resident count and bonuses so expansion can continue.

Hello everyone and thank you all for the questions that were asked,

There is a very large amount of feedback for us to go through, so please bare with us and we will try and address some of the questions that were asked in this thread.

I would like to remind you all that this is a question thread where we are trying to collect questions for a Q&A.
The majority appears to have been direct opinions and feedback, in future please keep things in their designated threads as it is one of the reasons why it can take us a long time to loop back to you as its more for us to sift through and process. You're feedback is also more likely to get lost in the masses of different threads that way. :)

In the Q&A can NQ clearly lay out the conditions and time lines from a territory going default on payments to another player claiming the territory and any possible take over of the previous owners constructs. Maybe an idea to put this info in an e-mail blast also ?

Just gonna put out there, I don't remember auto-miners being promised during kickstarter, but I do remember Avatar vs Avatar combat and territory warfare ?

I'll go a step further, and point out the trailer for the game has none of this stuff mentioned, but territory warfare is still in there ?

tl;dw - none of this stuff is making me excited to play the game, when there are still glaring features missing (that are still advertised) to the point of being completely forgotten about by the community.

What features are you wanting to see the most Yama?

The number of people mission running with alt accounts will still never provide enough money coming into the game economy to compensate for the money going out from taxes.

The amount of money being brought into the economy by a small number of mission runners will always be much smaller than the amount of money going out of the economy from taxing almost every person in the game millions per month.

The majority of people I know that play the game refuse to run missions as do I. We either all have to start mission running to save economy or something else has to happen.

Again, if people don’t want too run missions they will not. People will cut back on territories to lower costs, persevere through to continue doing what they enjoy or get fed up and disappear. Others will just let them run down to abandonment.

You make it sound like 1 mil per week will collapse the economy when people have been spending cash on schematics over the last year costing 100’s millions per shopping trip.

As many mega factories have most schematics needed now there is lots of spare change so people who focus on industry and markets etc this will not hurt at all.

The player base who has had no desire to make big money or play the economy and just wanted to mine for themselves to build what they wanted along with the casual players are the ones in danger here. The patch runs a big risk for them to join the pvp community in the DU history books.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but after the taxes start, there will be much more money leaving the in game economy than entering it.

Right now the only way money enters the DU economy is through market missions and the 150k login bonus every day. There are no longer bots buying low tier ore.

Money leaves the economy through schematic sales and taxes. This will greatly outpace the money entering the system causing economic collapse.

I can't see how the economy will survive unless we all start doing missions to inject more money into the economy or bots start buying low tier ore again.

    What does everyone else think?

You are incorrect. There will still be an inflation because the alt runners can easily make a billion a day. However the wealth divide between players and play styles will widen far further than it even is now. This will not be sustainable and another section of the player base will join the pvpers in vanishing from the game slowly but surely.

    Agreed.

A change like this would not be as bad if it did not effect older players and newer players disproportionately. The current economy from Ore, Parts, Territory and PvP is based off a system that was formed in a much more free market then what this is being transitioned into.  People who have been around longer, and took advantage of the market are likely sitting on Billions, or for the average casual player probably hundreds of millions at least. To some extent they can weather this without too much worry in the near future.

But with prices as they are, newer or brand new players are going to be walking up hill with a carrier on their backs trying to get into a good position.

Something like is proposed, at the current values they have set, would only be long term viable if there was a wipe. So everyone could start off with the new way of doing things on the same foot.

Again this is a major problem. The more NQ overlook these issues the more likely a full wipe will be required. I really don’t want to see this but current / increasing economic issues is making a full wipe make much more sense and necessity. ?

  7. DU for the PvPers is an irritating drag of patience. Sadly I have to agree that there is no quick fix for the combat part of the game, not by a long shot. Not only is the balance and design just simply bad but the bugs and desync is so deep routed its very troubling for DU’s future.

Combat definitely needs a ton of attention and a few more dedicated major updates before it can even be considered viable or “fun”. However NQ has stated they wish to release by around summer next year. It will be very interesting seeing the road map update coming because even at current pace that gives NQ 3 more major updates after Juno.

linked containers seem to be bugged on PTS. i just flew to my space station 130km above my base and my linked container (which is 130km away) ist still being displayed/is accessible. So free mass transport over any distance?

Quick! get them missions in! ? Honestly NQ can’t let that kinda bug slip past PTS anymore otherwise it’s game over for any hopes in not getting a full wipe.

  9. Given that the new system does not need to reseed the ground to reset the ore. NQ could always make it a feature of the land efficiency maps changing/resetting to new values every 3-6 months or so.  This will drastically lower the need for hefty safe zone territory taxes and give new and returning players an even chance to discover the rare territories later on in the game. ?‍♂️

  10. Here’s the answer. NQ don’t know when Demeter will drop because anything from now can happen.

Honestly your post reads can I have more time to get as much pre-patch advantage as possible…

Sorry but slowly but surely I’m fighting more and more against any player beta advantages because the higher the advantage the more ammunition there will be for a release full wipe.

It does not require a wipe.
Those who have cheated so far should have been punished and the values they received should have been taken away. In the meantime, it hardly matters whether a player has stolen 50 million quanta or 5 million quanta. The bigger problem is multiaccounts and the use of missions, which create billions of quanta within a short time.

All the weeks and months when you could "cheat" back then are balanced out by time after all. You had plenty of time to earn billions of quanta. In the end, it's like in almost every game:
    - Time invested = advantage
    - Number of accounts = advantage
    - Interaction with a group = advantage

These advantages always outweigh a one-time cheat. (This is not meant to be a justification) The cheaters should have been punished immediately at that time and their unjustly received things should have been taken away from them).

But what exactly would a wipe do today, except punish all players?

Full Wipe today? That would be foolish and counter productive. Learn by the bad choices made in beta and make the game and in-game economy sustainable then decide what level of pre-release wipe is required for best possible launch? Definitely.

  12. Imagine if NQ moved away from relying on LUA for transponders and went the RDMS route. Players could then just add individuals or organisations of ship owners in to the rights of the transponder and they could show as green / blue while everyone else in pvp zone shows as red. ?

  13. I had a fair few thoughts on the balancing issues. The toughest part is getting a balance right across all core sizes. Some ideas came to mind what i can post later on but the TLDR part would be to incentivising L cores being built to their old sizes again by making changes to CCS calculation and making weapons fire from cores 2 sizes down bypass shields altogether. S cores ignore L cores shields altogether and XS ignore M/L.

This will also mean locking weapons and shields to the respective core sizes tho. Some freedom junkies won’t like this but without some core size lock outs balancing is almost impossible so deal with it.
