Anaximander reacted to Comrademoco in Comrademoco - A Fond Farewell
    Sup DUveans,

Just stopping by here to say my final farewell to everyone here, in discord, and in game that I had the privilege to be acquainted with or some, to even call friends.

I had a blast being along side everyone of you these past 7 years, watching this community grow from literally 0 members to a whopping 50,000+ of you. I had many fond memories building premature alliances, making in game hostile moves, watching orgs rise and fall, overall, nerding-out over every aspect of Dual Universe.

However, all good things must come to an end. I'm sad to say but due to recent announcements and the overall direction of community aspect of Dual Universe is partaking, per say, I must state my farewell from the community and Dual Universe completely (as a player and as Moderator, in Discord and other platforms). At this point, I'm not enjoying being part of a community that's not being nourished at its fullest or been ignored for so long. (That's just the tip of the iceberg) Regardless, I leave on good terms, hope you all have fun, wishing the best to everyone and Novaquark (Here's hoping for a fast recovery, community-wise)

    As always,
Catch everyone on the flip, but most importantly; Have Fun!

Remember: Comfort: is the enemy of progress

I quote myself here from the other post:

Instead, we should rely on cheap labour community players that are not even capable of solving technical problems with the game?
To illustrate the problem, I have created a picture to capture the plight.

Couldn't care less about discord and dont care about ingame support either because I don't play but man. Some ppl pay monthly for that shit and they can't even have that. It's ridiculous

No support on discord makes a little sense since it gets so hectic in there, but no GM in the game?!  In a subscription-based game in alpha beta?  Wow.

Anaximander reacted to blazemonger in NQ does not want your ideas (or do they?)
So, recently NQ decided to move the "Idea Box" forum in the "beta" section here to the very bottom, requiring you to scroll quite a way down to get to it. It's basically been moved well out of sight.

I guess NQ does not just choose to ignore these ideas, they now decided it was time to actually try and shove the option into a corner where it's not so obvious it's there and you need to actually do work to get there..

EDIT: Good to see NQ listened here and move the forum back up.. so never mind

Anaximander reacted to Hazard0814 in Laughing so hard @DU Market
I was bored, a friend wanted to have me make something for them. So I charged them the price it would be for just the ore to be used. Then I looked at market, and like most thoughtful people, nearly died laughing as I saw element after element being sold, cheaper than the ore to make it. Which honestly seems a bit backwards as the "Bots" everyone so heavily hates, do nothing but create a "Floor" price for ores and an outlet for people to sell to when no one else is buying at above bot prices.

Then I checked the price of bot sell orders, NQ drop the price please, give it a margin of 10-15% profit instead based on the cost of the ore for it if your going to set floor pricing, it makes sense. Then also, like I mentioned on another thread, make it easier to see the base value of something based on ore cost, not everyone wants to research the cost of something outside of the game.

Just my two cents in beta ✌

Anaximander reacted to blazemonger in NQ Your lack of action regarding the schematic fiasco is disturbing
NQ does not care. They are counting on retention through allowing accounts to stay active while the game time expired and the new patch bringing enough for those to resub after all.

They do not care at all about backers as their money has been spent and they are pretty much noise and a nuisance now. Personally all I can do is be honest and tell those that ask to not get involved with the game now and wait to see if NQ shows signs of improvement. I'm not so much concerned about the game as I am about the ability for NQ to actually manage expectations and handle incidents in a way that one should be able to expect from a game developer. So far, they have missed the mark regarding that.. by a lot.

Has NQ given any consideration to just rebranding themselves to Banana Republic Development Inc? It seems to be a more fitting name.

I actually agree with this statement...

The fact that PVP is so costly to get into in the first place and the environment forces people to work with others in order to do ... anything on a greater scale kind-a leads to a self defeating approach to many things.

A lot of people manage to be self-sufficient but the difficulties in getting there make it barely worth the trouble. People tend to want the game to be fun when embarking on the struggle to accomplish something... PVP or non-PVP related. However, everything has become more of a struggle as of late.

and yeah, while the PVPers of the game are either complaining or simply leaving for something better, it's just 1 symptom of a larger number of problems that people are trying to point out.

It has been more entertaining watching NQ ruin their game than actually playing their game post schematics. NQ just trying to make the rest of the player base slaves to their hundred or so backers that NQ warned about schematics so they could stockpile. I wouldn't doubt the prices were lowered deliberately so their friends could get their factories back going... The biggest dumpster fire Alpha i've ever been witness to.

Anaximander reacted to blazemonger in NQPlease.. Include this with the rollout of the mission system
The idea is not new and yes, i adopted it from that other spaceship game.

    We need a wrapper system in DU;
A way to "pack" items together allowing for them to be transported by haulers and couriers. There wrappers would have the mass and volume of the items it hold and can be a complete construct. They should be restricted to containers and not be transferable to personal inventory Players can offer a mission to transport such wrapper to another location, a collateral should be an option to attach as insurance. Haulers can create drop off points at their base or markets,  a "customer" could offer pickup on a container at their base with access for the hauler automatically added once the mission is accepted. Customer can collect at the destination base of the hauler or they can have a drop off container, again with rights to place the wrapper in it for the hauler set up when the mission is accepted. As the wrapper is delivered, the hauler is paid and the collateral refunded. If the package is not delivered within a specified timeframe the collateral is paid to the creator of the mission Pickup and drop off containers can only be placed on static constructs or stations. Once accepted the player who took it will have access to the pickup construct and the container,  until the mission is complete, failed or aborted to the destination construct and container. Pickup containers and the construct they are on can't be removed while the mission is accepted but he cargo not collected, drop off containers and the constructs they are on can't be removed until cargo is delivered and mission completed. failed or aborted.

So hauling missions.....guess I called it right xD

Depending on how they do aphelia missions, markets will lag out even more now. My guess: aphelia only creates missions from market A to B. GL doing those I guess - markets lag out for me even now when noone is around.

So what you get is an unfinished and untested system with hauling missions only for now ("but the dreams! The possibilities! Just think of what will be possible!" - can already hear the fanbois) while at the same time you don't even have org wallets. Nice, I guess.

Also, how to prevent ppl from hiding that Target container from you?

Gotta say, I'm currently the most active member of my group by a long way, and all I'm doing is logging in daily to buy raw mats on the market, and sell a refined product to make sure i;ve got the cash to buy schematics, on the off chance that the game becomes something worth playing again in the future.

    That's literally it.

I was actively recruiting and recommending the game to people, right up until the Beta launch. While the game was in Alpha, the community was much more active, and I reckon that was down to the fact that we all knew that our assets weren't permanent. We knew there would eventually be a wipe, maybe more than 1, so going out and doing organised fights was something people were up for. After all, if we lost stuff, so what? Not like it was something we'd be keeping in live, so we could afford to have a bit of a laugh with it and have some fun.

Now that the game is in Beta, we're ostensibly in the live environment. Losses affect the live game, and without a scheduled wipe, those losses are long term.

With no reason to fight, why should I risk it? There's nothing to gain in real terms by going and fighting, so why should I risk my assets to do it? It's not even as if the combat gameplay is even that enjoyable, and it's certainly not worth all the grinding you'd need to put a fleet back together afterwards.
