Yeah but the difference is that you are selling your ore at just above cost, whilst I am selling my elements to players at just below bot SELL price, which is XXX% higher margin.

So I can sell at L Atmos for 450k, when the bots buy them for 115k.

Yes it takes some time but it is ZERO risk to sell elements (I have sold pretty much every type of item), you just need to spread your wares.  This is my point though, NQ should just remove your easy option and inform you of the other option - which is to actually trade with players.

First off, there is a lot of "Me" in your post. While DU is perfectly playable as a solo player, without the support of an org and other people in it to join forces with when needed your options will be limited, yes. DU is not a game that is geared towards a Solo person achieving everything by themselves.

You find that mega node? Drop a Territory Unit, it's yours and no one can touch it. 7 days after you put the TU down, it can be taken off the tile again and reused elsewhere. In EVE, you go on holidays and someone else drops a citadel near that belt and kills you as soon as you get back to it as they have claimed it for themselves. That belt may also move or next respawn it's contents may not be as rich as previously.

Progression continues as you are offline, your talents keep training and Industry keeps producing, no need for you to be there. And here again, when playing with friends you can divide time up between the group and when you get back on, all the stuff you need wil be there, ready to go.

Frankly, it's all a matter of perspective. You seem to be looking at all this through a lens which from the get go is colored by your opinion of other games and you also seem to be looking through it from a single player experience. All of that is fine, if another game suits you better then go for it but that doe snot make your argument valid beyond the fact you prefer mechanics in other games. There is a lot that needs to get better in DU but you need to keep in mind that a lot of the game mechanics are yet to get in and existing mechanics will go through iterations over the next year or two. It's really not fair to compare to games that have been around for decades.

You hope the game turns in to something you like while it sounds to me you have expectations for the game which were not based on what is in, has been announced or is being worked on but what you like in other games. so without this meant to be negative in any way.. go play those other games you do like.. no shame in that and perfectly fine if DU is not for you.

No, because it is not really a problem, it is a minor irritation which will probably be removed in further development but someone is going to make a massive deal out of it and act like it is game breaking...... seen it all before

Again will have to disagree, if you sell the right stuff on other planets it sells, I am selling things like terri capture units and containers at huge markups, and engines and stuff.  We have bases on several planets and a lot of people selling out there, things are quieter of course, so product choice is important, industry always does well for us on other planets.  The key thing is not to be lazy, 100 product on 10 markets, is a LOT better than 100 on 1.

I place mine at 450k and they do get sold, sorry but there you go, that is my point.  Not everyone shops around, some people buy from the closet location.  I buy your engines for 110k and fly them to Alioth 13 or somewhere and sell them for 480k lol........ at some point more people might cotton on to it.

I have sold plenty of l atmos engines around the districts at max price, seriously, go to market 6 (or another busy market) buy all the cheap stuff and fly it elsewhere.  Then come back to me......

I love posting stuff like this, every now and then I get someone who stops arguing enough to actually understand what I am saying, then they message me a few days later telling me it is a game changer.

Your post reminds me of the phrase "dress for the job you want, not the job you have". If I understood the gist of what you said @Olmeca_Gold, you're floating out an early warning signal to NQ suggesting we "develop for the players we want, not the players we have", in essence. It's an interesting bit of food for thought - you've certainly got my wheels turning!  Excellent discussion topic.

I'll take a crack at weighing in:

The feedback that's being collected from the forums, Feature Upvote, Discord Servers x 3, Reddit x 3, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. captures a fairly diverse range of player wants & needs. We recently released a 2020 Player Survey as well, the data from which we'll use (in conjunction with feedback from the aforementioned sources) to help steer our development plans.

@Moosegun is correct, and this ties in nicely to what I was typing above the quoted text - we've got solid data and a fab team of professionals who are very adept at data analysis.

Don't forget that NQ also has a formal roadmap and development goals that we're always working on, too! We simultaneously attack both long-term roadmap development and player-requested quality of life fixes/lighter features in an effort to strike the right balance. Sometimes priorities get shifted around, absolutely, but we're always marching toward our planned goal.

I know it can feel like you're just sitting in an echo chamber of "vertex editor when" if you oscillate solely between the forums and Discord, but I can assure you there's a vast array of players who make their voices heard, and we see them.

I'm currently working on a little side project with one of my team mates that will, hopefully, boost these playstyles in the eyes of the community. ❤️

This is a fantastic point (one of many - everything you wrote has value), and something that was raised quite a bit in the PvP player round table that was held this past weekend. In order to participate fully in PvP, players need a reason. Hopefully we're able to provide that reason (or reasons) very, very soon.

Let's keep this chat rolling! I think it's a really interesting topic.

I think a lot of people are looking for Dual Universe to be a lot of different things, and i hope it can be all those things eventually.  But it's not all of them yet.

Personally what i was looking for was a building game, Minecraft with better graphics.  Right now Dual Universe is exactly that, and better then i ever could ever have imagined.

Look at how popular Minecraft is, it's a crazy successful game.

Having watched this project go from a few pieces of concept art, and a discussion forum, to what it is now.  From where i'm sitting things are looking pretty damn good.  I really hope to see the game become everything that they envisioned it to be.  And it's possible that NQ was a bit too ambitious.  But i don't see any evidence that the game isn't on track to be something amazing.

As far as i can see, NQ is making the game as fast as they can, it sucks if the game sounded interesting to you, but nothing in it interests you right now.  But what was NQ supposed to do differently?

Should they have built the game from start to finish in secret, without telling anyone about it, just so people wouldn't have to live with the disappointment of knowing about it, but not being able to play all of it yet?

They could have settled for just making Minecraft with better graphics.  Or they could have made Eve with better graphics.  Either of those would have been a hell of a lot easier.

But neither of those would have been half as good as what we have right now, to me at least.  /shrug

I agree, I do statistical data analysis and data segmentation as part of my job.  I would be very surprised if NQ didnt have these stats, the fact they sent out the questionnaire suggest they should.

I wouldnt be surprised if my 'sample' audience isnt far from the truth though.

The whole 'you have to mine to do anything' line is a complete myth I am afraid, peddled by people who havent worked out how to do anything else.  You can make money / enjoy the game in loads of other ways than mining.  You can make tons of quanta just buying / selling and moving other people products from one market to another...... if you know how.  I know LOADS of player who do not mine at all in DU and never will.

I build almost nothing in the game. I frequent tons of alioth markets, looking for the best prices on items. Sometimes making 2-3 trips in a day (I always forget something) and I've never once crashed. Not a single time. And I'm running a pretty dated computer setup and hardware.  Even when I get a dip in frames, I never crash.  When I do crash going to and from planets its always been my fault for watching one of my other monitors.  You cant base fundamental gameplay on outliers, and the amount of people crashing to "bugs" is so far less than people state it is.

Moosegun reacted to NQ-Naunet in UPDATE: Keeping the 'port' in support!
[Updated Nov 19, 2020 @ 3:02 PM EST]: The rules outlined below apply to teleporting both avatars and constructs. This means that, outside of the list of approved scenarios, we won't be able to fetch your ship and bring it to your location.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Good day fellow Noveans,

I come bearing support-related news! More specifically, I’d like to address teleportation requests with all of you.

For a while now, we’ve allowed players in need of a port to say the word on Discord and - voila - your wish would be granted! ✨
That worked well for a time, but our Discord support channel is now beginning to slip under the veritable wave of port requests… and we’d like to rescue it and all those in need of a ‘lift’.

As of November 19th, we would like everyone in need of teleport-related assistance to use the in-game chat support, or submit an official support ticket. By using the in-game chat function instead of Discord, you’re likely to receive an answer quicker because our GMs are ready and waiting for you there!

Having said that, we’d also like to inform everyone that we will no longer grant port requests if you’re simply out of fuel, stuck in one of your own constructs, or just generally stranded. All port requests will now be investigated, verified and potentially denied if the request falls outside of approved scenarios.

Some examples of when to ask for a port (approved scenarios):

if you’re stuck in an Aphelia construct if you’re trapped in any other player-owned tile (unable to dig) if you’re unable to get past the loading screen upon logging in
What to do if you’re just stuck/out of fuel/stranded:

Don’t forget: there are plenty of player organizations available to assist in your travels through space! Be sure to check out the organizations and services provided on Discord and our Forums. Some organizations will be happy to provide you with transportation, refueling, repairs, building help and so much more!! ?

    How to contact support:

To access in-game chat support, simply click the “support” tab in-game, as depicted below.

From here, it’s as easy as typing up your request, starting the message with "@NQ" and sending it off!

To submit an official support ticket, please click HERE. ?

Then, select the hyperlinked text that says “submit a request” in the top-right corner of the page. Once you see the screen featured below, select the appropriate category for your issue and go to town!

(Quick note for those submitting crash reports: PLEASE do not forget to include a crash log and/or XML logs with your ticket!!)

And there you have it! Let’s all do our part to keep the Discord server free and clear of port requests so that players with big ol’ bugs and other issues to report can receive the visibility they deserve.

    ~NQ-Naunet

PS - I want to give a special shout-out to all of our support staff for everything they do!! Thank you, all!!

I posted on this idea before but since not everyone has access to it I thought I'd bring this up again.

Clearly, with NQ at least talking of energy management it's something that is coming but we have no idea how this will work and it appears neither has NQ yet really as they have pretty much said it's still in the "thinking about it" phase.

Here's how I could see power and energy work in DU:

    Territory unit:
Has a built in power generator which is extremely efficient and can run a long time on a relative limited fuel supply. Once fuel runs out, it will be able to stay active for some time before it starts to decay. Once it decays below 50% the protective impact to static constructs on the tile will end and those can be attacked without the need to destroy the Territory unit. When power drops below 25% it becomes relatively simple to destroy the unit. Once destroyed, a 24H windows will provided a means for defenders to arrange such defense on a tile.

    Static Constructs:
The core has a limited power supply relative to it's size which runs relatively efficient buit not as efficient as a TU will. As long as the core has power reserves it will boost the constructs HP value making it (very) hard to breach a construct which can only be done to begin with if the TU on the tile is destroyed or below 50% power. Players can place batteries to increase the constructs power capacity and use fuel or solar power to recharge the batteries which in turn recharge the core if it runs out of fuel (or is not fueled at all). As long as the core has power it will prevent dynamic constructs docked to (as permitted through RDMS)  it from being vulnerable to attack.

Space cores will have a similar mechanic but obviously without he dependency on a TU

    Dynamic constructs:
The core has a more limited power supply relative to it's size which runs less efficient than a static core of the same size. It has limited capacity for additional power capacity through  batteries, which can be recharged trough the engines on the construct being used. By itself the power supply on a dynamic core offers no protection like a static core does.

    What does the above achieve:
TU upkeep and maintenance with a decay timer Protection for territory and constructs placed on it Timers for attacks (a vulnerability window like EVE citadels have could be considered on Static constructs) Limit what can be placed on a construct depending on power capacity
and more I have no doubt..

Good shout, totally agree that organisation promotion is a vital part of the fourm, I would like to see categorisation.  This not only makes it easier to find orgs that fit, but also showcases the wide range of roles available to players

Orgs are not only about recruitment, they are also about services, showcase those too!

I noticed, that "Organizations" section was moved much deeper into pits.

This section already experienced almost hopeless depression, with absolute majority of orgs abandoning any pretense to post updates/pr content here, save for some rare and totaly technical bumps. So, question is, do we need to somehow salvage this section by adding incenetives to be more active, or to hell with it, let it be survival of fittest medium of communication?

I think a list of tags could allow for combinations to further narrow down a search.  For starters:  PVP, Construction, Mining, Industry, Market, Vehicles, Planets, Space, Tools, Weapons.

Combine PVP with planets to look for planetary PVP ,construction with planets for planet side base building or vehicles with construction to talk ship building.

    Greetings Noveans,

This is your newest Community Manager, NQ-Naunet, reporting for duty! ?

It’s no secret to all of you that Dual Universe has undergone some changes in recent months; the launch of Beta, an increase in fan-made content appearing across our social channels (bye, bye NDA), and new NQ staff members popping up all over the community... just to name a few! Exciting things are on the horizon for all of us, and we couldn’t be happier about it.

The first big mission I propose we tackle together, should you choose to accept it, involves this space right here - the forums. In the interest of keeping things tidier, more useful and fun for everyone, we’ve been thinking about giving this place a bit of a makeover.

If that piques your interest, read on to see what we’ve got planned so far. We propose:

Cleaning up some older, less relevant pinned posts and limiting future pinned posts to ~5 per topic. Archiving older, pre-Beta material. Creating a dedicated Beta category! Adding an “Innovation Station” space for creators to show off what they’ve been building in-game. Changing the look and feel of the forums with a brand new theme. Implementing an “Organization of the Month” series to highlight some of the amazing things all of you are getting up to together.
What we’d like from you is your feedback, as it’s important to us that this place continues to be made for you, by you. Please let us know:

Which topics/threads you feel should be preserved! (Tutorials, lore, etc.) What sorts of categories you might like to see! Any theme/styling suggestions you may have. Anything else you think we should know about the forums/our proposal.
I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and getting to know all of you a little better. Together, I think we can whip this place into the best shape it’s ever been in! ?

~ NQ Naunet, over and out.

Moosegun got a reaction from Hagbard in Bot orders are allowing the limited supply of T1 ore to be converted to quanta en masse.
My biggest issue with these bot orders is not the quanta, quanta is easy to make and there are more profitable ways to make it that this cheese.  My issue is that it is stopping products from getting to markets to be sold to players.  All these lazy players SHOULD be making things players wants to buy, as it is they are just sitting there outside the 'player made universe'.  This is happening in too many places, like giving free repairs and teleports in support.  All players get 100,000k a day for nothing, tell the this is beta compensation of issues and pass them to a community support team to do ingame repairs / refuel / transportation.  Currently NOONE is pushing these services at all because there is no point.  You crash, NQ will fix it........ a bit disappointed tbh, you are making decisions that go against what you are trying to create.
