Just wish you would all go to those other games forums, rather than trying to destroy a game you no longer play, all very vindictive.  I cant remember EVER hanging around in the forum of a game I had left to put it down, for me it displays the worst of human nature.

I love it when someone gets it, I spent today training someone how to get into our market network, then someone else wanted to know about commodities trading (the biggest earners in this game dont need to exploit or even have bases), we had a wannabee ship building who is working on a new mining barge, another guy we are setting up to do the hauling.  On two occasions recently I have been set b buy order for ore, only for them to be filled whilst I was still there.  Which was followed by me finding them on the market to make contact with them and potential miners. After shutdown I am hoping to get to Sicari to scope out locations for a racetrack. I love this game, but you have got to make up your mind what you want to be, and how to do it, you can be anything (we you will be able to).

You do realise we are talking about pirates here? Pirating doesnt need legal defence, it is illegal by definition.  Go watch pirates of the Caribbean, you will get the jist. This is a game?  also you are massively exaggerating my suggestion.  All it would mean is that some locations would become know potential hot spots for pirates, so those systems might require scouting or security - it creates gameplay for pirate, haulers that dont mind teamwork / risk and security.  Even then you might get lucky and warp into safe zone anyway, just a little bit of risk, in the outer planets.

I would love them to add a timer, so if anyone leaves a ship outside their own territory for longer than xxx it opens it up for salvage. Would add a huge amount of gameplay and clean up the markets.

Sorry, yesterday was a new low even for you guys. I can put up with you all making stuff up and quoting it as fact but putting up peoples personally information and stuff, that is a dirty scumbag move.  I really used to respect the guy, but yesterday he just proved himself to be another scumbag troll who doesnt care about anything but proving himself right.  The underhand BS you lot are pulling now to try and make the game fail is beyond a joke.

Just wondering, if NQ came out with an 'apology' and 'admitted they got a couple of thing wrong', would you be fine with that?

Not a slow news day at all, just another one of your speculations, which is extremely negative and has been proved to be untrue.  Just holding you to account for your words.  Although I am sure, if the PTS comes out sooner than March, you will be the first to come on here with an apology for being wrong.

Also slightly ironic you questioning my posting activity, you seem to be pretty obsessed for someone who doesnt play the game lol

100% agree this is how they should have been created, would have made it part of the player eco, NOT part of the weird NQ bot army........  Has got to be my biggest issue with NQ, the sheer number of times they remove stuff from the game (or miss opportunities to add stuff) which will improve community cohesion and interactions.

    - ore bots which create short term solo gameplay loops and wiping out the ore reserves, rather than encouraging sales to players
    - removing any reason to pvp at all, zero risk game
    - removing player salvaging by stopping people claiming destroyed ships
    - the complete lack of ingame communication / marketing channels for people to actually advertise the services / businesses they are making
    - lac of player trading terminals and dispensers being not really fit for purpose
    - lack of clarity about how territories and player made safe zones will work in the future, so we have a chance to plan

The problem isnt as such, there is nothing to do in the game, the issue is there is no way to let anyone know what you are doing in game.  For example, we were making a large commercial / shopping complex but it is all actually pointless at the moment, as there is no way in game to get anyone to shop there.

Can you run two copies of Windows, without an additional license?  Not sure why it makes no sense, the schematics let you run one machine, to run two, you need two.  What is confusing?

I agree. The lore sucks goats. Who are we paying? Why do they need our money.

I hate bots with a passion: we’re basically paying magic potion NPC BOTS for stuff. Just like players being able to disintegrate megatonnes of the finite ores week by week by selling them to NPC bots and removing them from the market, ultimately fucking everything up to the point where PvP is ENTIRELY superfluous in terms of resource sink.

personally I think they could  have just made all the industrial machines more expensive from the start with high tiered machines being geometrically so.

Then make researching the schematics a thing and allow groups to use or sell schematics and allow schematics then work for a whole factory by placing them in a central industrial schematic manager or something.

what is the physics behind schematics only being able to enable bolts or magnets on a single machine.

    Thoughtless immersion breaking reasoning.
very poor effort considering JC has a PhD. Although that may be why he left academia in the first place, who knows....

... harsh, I know, but the lack of even basic consistency or even any robust logic in some cases would not bode well for someone in any sort of critical analysis or research field.

0.23 was actually good in principle, the intention was good. NQ blew it on the implementation and failed due to a lack of actual understanding why the patch was needed and rolling it out ill prepared, into a game not ready for the change and for the wrong reasons. So that made it a bad update and it scores a No

I am not at all exited for 0.24 and have expectations for it so low that I'd actually be surprised if NQ manages to not meet them but I can see them do just that. for that reason, a No again.

Question 3 gets a "Bad" from me as I have to give them points for intent (which I believe to be good) even when execution and follow through is terrible.

I do not think anyone is toxic here but unbridled positivity and blind faith is dangerous as it will actually blind you to the facts.

The pattern NQ is in does not lie, their behavior is very predictable and has been the same since pre-alpha. many of us backers have been pointing that out for a long time and many who scolded us, called us toxic and negative have now pretty much left or given up for the exact reasons we always said they would.

The promise of DU is massive and it's potential to be great is certainly there. IMO though, NQ will not be able to make that promise a reality, not because the people actually working on the game are incapable but because from what I see, those that set the course and make the decisions lack a sense of reality. If your CEO and creative director does not see anything that would indicate that the game will not be ready for release by the end of 2021 while these red flags are glaringly obvious, how is he ever going to be able to make the choices and decisions needed to make the game work and get to "release" within 9 months from now OR have the understanding and realism to reset and rearrange the roadmap?

I for one would _really_ appreciate it if NQ found some courage somewhere and was able to say "we misjudged our ability to build the game we set out to build in the time we though it would take on the 2nd version of the roadmap. We need to rethink this and will soon present what we believe is a more realistic way forward". That alone would suddenly create so much space for them to really sit down and work this out instead of having to force feed "we must do all this by the end of the year". But it all feels like everything is driven by an extremely small and tight budget that forces a release by the end of the year for a fighting chance to survive. And that can only lead to one thing; NQ may tick all the boxes on what they say will be coming in this year but it wil be a buggy mess and only partially implemented.

They will bring 0.24 with a very rudimentary version of the mission system, tick the box on the launcher page and that's it for 2021.. mission system done to not be revisited until after release because there simply is no time.

NQ got cold feet doing the new biomes because they are scared shitless regarding losing the little player base they have if they wipe for that to come in. So they just promise to bring a whole new solar system compete with star gates and all on top of everything else they need to do before release. The next big hurdle will be power management on planets as it will mean nearly the same as the biomes, entire bases will need to be moved and rebuilt unless NQ manipulates the way they assign this arbitrary value to tiles to "randomly" see the big org bases having been built on tiles that just happen to have sufficient energy output.

It's what you get when you try and sell a game which is hardly Alpha as a Beta and make promises you must know will be extremely limiting to your ability to actually develop the game. Setting the expectation that you will not wipe unless you _really_ have to and word it so vaguely that many take it as " we will not wipe" is just plan bad management of both expectations and your own ability to do your work. And again, it all points to being ins a situation where you need the revenue to survive.

And yes, I do expect we will start to see NQ cut cost (and corners) in the coming months.. As is usual the case in such situations, the support structure will be first to go so expect to see direct support by NQ on Discord go away for instance and NQ will start to lean on "community helpers" more and more as they are not on the payroll so it's a free workforce.

Funniest line on this forum for decades and you know it..........  I am all about the laughs.

And yes, you have tried to improve, so how about we all do that, how about we all just focus on the positives and the potential for at least one more patch!  I am really enjoying the game again, I see some light at the end of the tunnel and I hope GOD DAMN IT, it is not a train.......

Oh and as for people talking about the games they paid for, the majority of the people posting here have had their pound of flesh and some.

The big issues i have with this sort of thread:
The game NEEDS civilisation, it needs to be busy and have life.  Ideally we need to create that before the game is filled with new players again (at launch).  Wiping actually just puts everyone back to stage one, where the same players will get the same advantages (knowledge) and get just as far ahead Does it actually matter how everyone else is doing, this is not a competition tbh and also not a game which can EVER be fair How 'specifically' do you think the economy is messed up - please note I have followed the economy for three years, so your answer better be good - not just that you had read it on reddit Unless you are a big org, you will never be at the top of the tree, does that actually matter, we inhabit a world where the 1% own pretty much everything, it will be the same in DU, and just like real life, it wont effect you, you are not as important as you think What benefits do you think a wipe will bring?  If you are talking about development improvements (I actually agree) if you are talking about some ridiculous notion of player parity, sorry you are in the wrong game
All that aside, another live server is completely impossible to do, nor something NQ will ever think about, according to pretty much everything that comes out.
