    1) what people think or want to do in game most likely will change. 
     
    2) who cares if someone else is doing it. We need multiple orgs doing the same thing to create competition.

    Rest assured, that (In my not so humble opinion) there is far more depth to the possibilities in DU then in Eve. There will be a large group of players, and developers, who because of their love of building and creating will be working very hard to make a game that is fun for everyone.
     
    There will also, of course, be some players who only care about making it fun for themselves. We can hope that the developers  continue working towards mechanics that allow for more success for the former then the later.

    Hey everyone, my name on Landmark was Angelsheart and i was one half of (BiA). Below is one of the builds we did on Landmark that ended up in the safe hands of LadyKathrine. The build took us a while to make and was HUGE. Hello to all our friends who may remember me and hopefully we will meet in you all in DU.

    What happens if you travel back to your point of origin though?  You should be hundreds of years into the future compared to the people who never left that planet.  And the game won't be able to facilitate that.  How will they make a planet look that much more developed for only YOU?  Who is going to build it up from what it was before?  You would REALLY have to travel in time to make it work.
     
    Well there is one way I could see this working.  If DU ever finds they need to limit the amount of players playing at one time b/c of server load, then they could implement separate shards.  Then when someone time travels, the timeline could split off and port them over to another shard.  It would still be full of complications though.  It would have to be a one way trip and they would have to limit the number of times you could to it to the number of shards they implement.  But it would be a totally different reality when you got there and you would loose all communication and connection to the old shard forever.  If you travel back in time from there, the past would be different too. 
     
    I doubt we'll ever see DU address time travel.  Heck, even the most talented physicists in the world cant agree on what time actually is and how it works.  So its really asking too much for game developers to deal with it in a game like this.  We'll get FTL one day through in the way of star gates and maybe natural wormholes or something like that instead.  Then they can skirt   around the issue of time travel all together.

    clearly the only way to figure this out is to place a time traveling sheep, and micro voxel and a flask of four loko in a small storage container and see what happens.

    The very large team of lawyers and accountants that this would force NQ to have would probably be cost prohibitive.
     
    Game companies generally work very hard to have their in-game currency NOT be equated directly to real money so that it isn't subject to a countries finance laws.
     
    For instance, in the united states, you would have to track every transaction, require real-id of every player, report to the IRS and the fed every transaction over $10,000. You would also wind up having to to collect assorted different sales taxes in half the states depending on where the seller or the buyer lived in the real world. etc etc etc.
     
    Or, you would spend all your time in court trying to to prove why you didn't have to do those things.
     
    Then of course, you would also personally have to worry about your income tax. If you did well in game, and made say $100,000 you would be required to declare that as income, and pay roughly $30,000 in US income taxes if you lived there. If you lived in another country your tax rate might be higher or lower.
     
    But for sure NQ would be required to report to assorted countries the incomes of every player who lived in those countries.
     
    And then of course, there is the very real possibility of NQ being declared an international bank, and being subject to all sorts of laws about international trade rates and money laundering issues.

    if you craft something it can just say “created by ___” and they can set it to not be editable. It can just have build mode disabled on it. That simple.
     
    They don’t need to do more than that. It’s crazy to want to control peoples creative freedom like that, just to make people buy your design. A lot of people are going to want to build their own stuff, and you’re not entitled to anything if someone makes something similar to yours from scratch. It’s highly likely that people are going to end up making similar designs without even knowing it, and you can’t go back and tell them that’s not theirs, or assume they’re ripping you off. If someone takes a design and tries to reproduce it, so what. That just means they think you’re charging too much and they’d rather invest a bunch of their own time to make one themselves. The price has to be convincing. The game isn’t going to be fun if you have people trying to control other people and limit them just for your own personal gain.
     
    Things like programming and custom UI features that have been coded, now that’s something I’d want to buy from someone else. I have fun building but don’t know how to program. Make stuff with really cool scripting and people will want to buy it. Make things with fair prices and people will want to buy it instead of investing a bunch of time in it themselves.

    The reason you don't see any discussion on any of these topics, or any other similer questions, is that the game is currently under NDA. The official posts from developers to the general forums are the only information available to the public.

    voxel farm does indeed already have flowing water, gravity effects on constructs etc. atmosphere is just thin invisible 'water' from a programming point of view. but the processing power to bring that into the game is probably cost prohibitive at this time. just speculation of course. I know nothing official.

    one would assume that there will almost certainly be 'space only' ships that carry fighters, landers,  and other types of specific use ships. So booster rockets will just be one ship carrying another ship into space.

    in-game voice is absolutely essential. to not put it in the game would be in my not-so-humble opinion completely asinine.  call it Quantum entangled radio so there's no excuse for it to not be instant. Frankly I want to be able to fly through space with music on belter pirate radio, a scanner scanning the national channels for important news, and be on a private com with my wife

    I like building. I like building things with friends. I love showing off my constructs to others. I like screaming “for science!” as we try to break the game. I like figuring out what can be done and should different and passing that to Nova Quark. I’m ok with doing this once a week (for now). I like knowing I’m helping make this game better so it’s worth it to me. 
     
    If you’re not that person. If you want a game that’s almost done then it’s not for you at this point.

    mostly useful data, but I'm going to quibble.
     
    A Voxel is not the corners. it is the space defined by the eight corners. It is far better to think of a voxel as a center point with 8 corner points.
    The center point does not move relative to other voxels. each voxel is exactly the same distance from it's neighbors. 
    Each voxel shares each corner point with the relevant adjacent voxels, so when you change the location of any corner point you effect the corner point of 7 other adjacent voxels.
     
    There are air voxels. they have the same corners but no fill map.
    visible voxels are filled with some texture/color map
